Monthly Rentals in Galang-baru Island

The truth is, I chanced upon Castaway Island while looking for a short getaway near Batam with an ocean view and didn’t exactly know what I was signing up for. But our 3D2N stay on Castaway Island turned out to be exactly what I needed - to slow down. My husband and I were very fortunate to be the only visitors on the island so it truly felt like we were living on a private island with Halil and the locals. Some of the highlights include waking up to the breathtaking view of the ocean, sketching/painting around the island, snorkeling, fishing for sea urchins with the locals, collecting seashells, exploring the next island, falling asleep under the stars at night, enjoying a seafood feast for every meal (the raw sea urchins were my favourite). Do note that this isn’t a resort (unlike many other private islands in the region) so amenities are basic. But we enjoyed our stay nonetheless! Thank you Halil for having us, we hope to be back again.

We had a wonderful stay on Castaway Island. Everything was perfect from the warm welcome and the delicious vegetarian food prepared especially for us to activities like snorkeling and kayaking and our beautiful tent. We were lucky that, despite a less promising weather forecast, the weather turned out great - so don’t let that discourage you. It was a great experience :)
