Forge Cottage

We have recently updated this cottage ---- with a new kitchen with a proper hob and oven, and also replaced all the windows and even the front door ! The Forge cottage is set on our working sheep farm, on the Durham Northumberland border. Ideal for couples, or people traveling on their own, the cottage is a great location for local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Durham, Newcastle, Kilhope lead mining museum etc., but it's also great for those looking for peace and quiet and country walks !!

Swinburne Castle is perfectly situated within its own beautiful parkland and gardens. Traditionally decorated, parts of the house have tremendous history dating back to the 12th century. The east wing is extremely comfortable and private, and don't be perturbed by the stone steps leading down to the vaulted cellar. A delicious continental breakfast will be provided in your rooms. There is ample parking and a tennis court you are welcome to use. lovely footpaths from the house for keen walkers.

Nesting within an avenue of giant sequoia trees, Lakewood Courtyard is quiet and peaceful, with peacocks and chickens for company. Own entrance. 2 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Main bathroom has a sumptuous slipper bath and shower.There is a light and airy living room with 2 large comfy sofas, dining table, TV, books and some board games. There is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle and coffee pod machine. There is NO COOKER! There is an AIR FRYER! A gas barbecue also available.
