Craigiehall Temple (historic property built 1759)

Built in 1759 and situated in its own grounds on a former part of the Craigiehall Estate, it's Grade A listed for its stunning portico displaying the arms of the 1st Marquess of Annandale. A plaque on the wall carries a quote from Horace: "Dum Iicet in rebus jucundis vive beatus", "Live happy while you can among joyful things". We welcome up to 2 well-trained dogs, and with front & back gardens and being right next door to a vast park, our home is ideal for walks in the local area. For those wishing to venture into Edinburgh, Gorebridge train station is a mere 10 minute walk away, as well as having an unrestricted car park. A 20 minute train journey brings you into the heart of the city.

Mary Queen of Scot's chamber at Neidpath Castle is perhaps the most romantic place to stay in the Scottish Borders. Explore privately the whole castle and then retire to enjoy your suite rooms. The antique four poster bed, deep roll top bath and open fire evoke earlier times, but are truly comfortable and luxurious. An elegant table is set for breakfast. Peebles is 10 minutes walk away, with a host of shops and restaurants, as well as a museum and award winning chocolatier.

The Hayloft

The Hayloft has been turned into a light and airy flat above our stables. We live next to a path which takes you north to the Ochils or south to the beautiful Gartmore Water: perfect if you are a walker or a cyclist. The nearby village of Dollar has a castle, cafes, a pub and a restaurant. We are 40 minutes from Edinburgh airport, 25 minutes from Gleneagles Hotel, 20 minutes from Stirling and an hour from the centre of both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

A cosy haven perfectly located to explore the Pentland Hills from but also only 6 miles from Edinburgh’s many attractions. Hike or trail run right from your front door, or head off mountain biking, wild swimming, or bird watching. Just 2 miles from the Hillend Snowsports Centre if you’re looking to practise on the dry slopes. After a full day of activities, enjoy the views from the garden or just chill inside in front of the woodburning stove.
