'U Fùnnacu 1887 is a three-room apartment on the first floor of an old country house dating back to 1820. It was once a fondaco, in Sicilian "fùnnacu", from the Arabic funduq (accommodation, shelter for carters), in turn deriving from the Greek pàndokos: a place that welcomes everyone. In fact, this was the function of the fùnnacu: to welcome travelers, men, animals, carts with their loads, who found refreshment and shelter there.
