Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Our detached cottage for one traveller is in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. It is a comfy private space with skylights, vaulted ceiling, spacious desk, very fast wifi, and a peaceful garden outlook. Located near the Seymour River and the Baden-Powell trail network. Close by are Capilano University, Capilano and Lynn Valley suspension bridges, Deep Cove Village, Maplewood Flats bird refuge, and Lonsdale Quay. Downtown Vancouver is 25 mins. by car or bus, a few steps away. Free street parking.

Sunny Nest, very bright and specious, comfortable 1 bedroom suite with living room, kitchen and bathroom; everything just for you. There is also sun room (shared with the host) with access to the garden and huge sun deck where you can enjoy south view on the city. Convenient location in Coquitlam-Millardville. Option to self check with the key in the key-box. The house is situated on the slope of the hill; there are comfortable access steps (2 x 8 steps) from the lower parking to the suite.

Starlight Poolside Suite is a perfect one-bedroom guest suite in my detached house in Coquitlam’s Ranch Park neighbourhood. Coq Centre Mall, West Coast Express Train and Skytrain all within a 15 minute drive! You can walk to all these but as I am on a hill, you may wish to take transit or a cab back (5 mins). The comfy king bed can be split into two twin XL beds upon request. Shared backyard and heated pool (POOL OPEN JUN THRU SEPT).

Guest suite is located on the lower floor with its own private entrance at the rear of the home. The space is bright and spacious with windows and is self contained with 1 bedroom, kitchen, living area and bathroom. The Airbnb host lives upstairs in the home but their area is completely separate from the guest area. My place is close to great views, restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities, nightlife and Skytrain.
