Bed and breakfast vacation rentals in City of Colchester

Sophie and Nick made us feel right at home with their easy, friendly manner. (Nelly, the dog, was very friendly too!) We were greeted on arrival and shown to our accommodation which was as described, spacious and lovely and clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower lovely and refreshing. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked a table for an evening meal at The Weeping Willow in Barrow - 2miles away - on Sophie’s recommendation, which was excellent. (Nick even offered to give us a lift there!) Mind you, Nicks cooked breakfast in the morning was equally as good, and fresh strawberries accompanied our cereals too. We all left feeling relaxed, and well fed! Would highly recommend this place.

We went to a wedding very close to Anna-Louise's lovely property and we absolutely loved staying here. We immediately felt at home here. Anna-Louise was very warm and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We were very impressed with how flexible Anna-Louise was and she made sure we got to the wedding in good time and made sure we knew were we going. We woke up to an absolutely lovely breakfast (one of the best I've enjoyed in an AirBnb). Lots of coffee, fruit and a perfectly cooked breakfast. The location is absolutely stunning. We woke up to a lovely view of the countryside outside our window. Seriously can't recommend this place enough. We're already looking forward to going back. Thanks Anna-Louise for a lovely time.

Janet and her husband run an excellent establishment. Attention to detail was really good from the communication we had before arriving, organising a taxi and then tea and cake in the garden! The breakfast was yummy and again service warm and welcoming. Highly rate the stay!

This was our second stay and we had a very nice relaxing time again, greeted on arrival with delicious tea and cake and made to feel very welcome. We had a fantastic meal on the first night cooked by the very talented Louise and a beautiful cooked breakfast each morning, highly recommend place to stay and hopefully we will come again.

Great house, lovely host and delicious breakfast

What an amazing find, superb location, peaceful, classy and very comfortable. All the staff were very nice/helpful/friendly and the food couldn't have been better. Sadly no bath in our room but a great nights sleep on a gorgeous bed. Took a lovely country walk opposite the property and ended up going three miles round which was nice to explore the countryside.

Wonderful old property, plenty of old exposed beams and leaning walls. Full of character better than a travel lodge anytime. Terry and Lynn are great hosts, very approachable and live on site. They seem to have worked hard to mitigate the problem of covid and social distancing. Rooms are now self contained. Breakfast no longer served but cooking facilities and supplies (eggs cereals, milk etc.) are left in the room. Dog friendly, some good walks (with rabbits) just a few meters from the garden gate. The lovely town of Long Melford is just up the road.

Lovely place to stay. Would recommend highly. Judy was helpful, friendly, always chatted with us. Would stay here again. Her attention to detail- cooked my fiance’s extra long, the little touches in the room- teas, biscuits etc. This all made for a great stay.

Wonderful little B&B situated on the island, Victoria was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was particularly delicious (with plenty of options) and watching the ducks and chickens roaming the garden provided great entertainment! Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Perfect location for our visit to The Spa Pavilion to see a show. Both Jo & Christian very welcoming & helpful. Accommodation was fantastic, spotless & provided everything we needed for our stay. Clementine made our family feel very at home, including kindly let us stay past the check out time and play in her little girl's playroom. She was also very accommodating and made vegan friendly bread for breakfast which was very kind of her. It is a beautiful old building well situated in the middle of the town, the room and beds were very comfortable.

Nasreen was extraordinarily welcoming. She gave me my choice of room and in the morning offered coffee and my choice of toast, fruit, cereal, and porridge for breakfast, joining me in a very pleasant conversation at the kitchen table. Her comfortable home is also conveniently located -- about a 6-minute walk from a stop for the bus to Audley End rail station and just over 15 minutes’ walk to picturesque Market Square. There is also a nearby Tesco where one can get microwaveable meals. Check-out was easy. Highly recommended for a relaxing and economical stay!

Our second time staying with Anne and Paul and absolutely loved it. They are super welcoming, friendly and make you feel like right at home. Great location, very central. The room we were staying in has a beautiful bathroom with a view of the garden. Looking forward to our next visit. I would recommend higher if I could :)

Eden and Kui are generous hosts, sharing their home and time to ensure our stay was comfortable. The newly renovated ensuite bathroom and comfortable beds were appreciated, although there was limited space to manoeuvre around our large suitcases. Despite a wide selection of restaurants, we preferred preparing our meals in their kitchen—thanks. Also a big thanks for sharing your thoughts on so many topics; we enjoyed our conversations immensely.

Exceptional hosts, wonderful, cozy, clean, and peaceful place, great countryside walks on your doorstep and restaurants and shops in walking distance. Accommodation was spacious and we had everything we could think of, even though the shower room is quite small, it serves its purpose well. Elaine couldn’t do more for us and we really enjoyed our stay with her and Teg. The breakfast really is out of this world and the attention to detail in everything Elaine does is something to be experienced. Hopefully will come back! Many thanks for everything Elaine and Teg.

Stevie was very welcoming and a very interesting character to talk to. The accommodation was clean and tidy and felt very much at home. Whenever there was a slight problem it was sorted quickly, without fuss. The surrounding area is beautiful and would thoroughly recommend a stay at Stevies’s.

Staying at Tim's house was truly special. From the moment he welcomed us into his beautifully decorated home we felt so comfortable. Our bedroom was just amazing with everything you could possibly need plus extras that were very much appreciated. Tim is a wonderful host and he treated us to the most spectacular breakfasts. Although the house is within easy walking distance of the town centre it was very quiet. We can't recommend Tim highly enough and we would love to come back.

Great for an overnight stay! Lovely touches with bottles of water, tea, coffee and biscuits! Very peaceful and had a great sleep in the comfy bed! Thanks Phil 👍

Peaceful place surrounded by nature. Absolutely loved to be away from the hectic London life, like another reality, Jackie's house is beautiful, full of character and history. Jackie is amazing host with loads of stories, very friendly, hospitality was amazing! Thank you.
