Birna was great. This was our first trip to Iceland, and she made us feel at home. The location is beautiful and the house was great. Thank you Birna very much for allowing us to stay in your home.

Contemporary Farmhouse With Amazing Views

A wonderful place to relax. Stunning house and stunning views. The walk to the sheep pens along the river was well worthwhile. Then a sauna and plunge in the river. We are excited about the rest of our tour of Iceland but a little sad to have left Halldor’s place.

Grund geusthouse

Great place to stay with large family. Plenty of room. Kitchen a little small if you plan to stay in and cook. Outdoor grilling and eating space is very nice if that works for your style. I would diffently stay again if in the area. Bedrooms are very nice and updated but stairs to lower level can be challenging if you have elderly folks, young folks did just fine.

Stafholtsey Farm

A great place and location to travel/explore while still having the comforts of home! As a family trip with 6 adults it was nice to have both shared and private space in the house. With the well-equipped kitchen and 2 good grocery stores in the nearby Borgenes we enjoyed preparing meals in the evening and having breakfast before heading out for our day trips. The washing machine and dryer allowed us to go home with clean clothes. The hot tub was nice to relax in after a long day of hiking. The beds were comfortable and the blackout shades in the summer were greatly appreciated. We even had a chance to pet friendly horses that would greet us near the turn-off for the house. Kari was an attentive and responsive host! Highly recommended for family and close friend trips.
An expansive wooden deck is viewed at dusk, illuminated by soft outdoor lighting. A jacuzzi is positioned alongside, surrounded by planters, while a dining set is arranged for outdoor meals. The serene landscape in the background features rolling hills and a distant lake.

MARIA Luxury Villa South-west

JenniferRating, 5 stars15 months ago
A truly stunning house, tucked against beautiful landscape. The hot tub and fireplace were a hit with our family, and it truly felt like an oasis after a day out exploring. We were there in winter/early spring and it was charming. I can only imagine what the summer with access to the lake would be like! A great place for kids too. The little play structure is so close and the house clearly is a place for gathering family. This place is enough to tempt us to do another trip to Iceland!

A charming wooden cabin is set against a backdrop of snow-covered land and clear blue skies. The structure features large windows that allow natural light to illuminate the interior. Nearby, a smaller building complements the main cabin, surrounded by sparse winter foliage.

Family friendly cabin!

Beautiful location - outstanding view of the mountains. Quite close to Borganes. We used it as a base to explore the edge of the West Fjords and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula
A wooden interior features a cozy sitting area with a glass coffee table, two flutes filled with sparkling wine, and a bottle nearby. A modern fireplace with a black chimney provides warmth, complemented by woven black chairs. The kitchen area is visible in the background.

Cottage with a view

DavidRating, 5 stars8 months ago
This was a great place to stay as a base camp for exploring western Iceland. Very clean and welcoming. The view is great, the hot tub is perfect after a long day walking around, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and grill had everything we needed in order to cook meals. Jon and Kristin were great and made us feel right at home. They even had chocolate bars for us when we got to the house! A couple minor things to know if you're considering this house. 1. There are 3 bedrooms, but the third bedroom has a sofa bed, not a regular bed. This room is also the TV room, so if you were planning on using the TV a lot, you would need to put the bed back in to a sofa and vice versa each day. This wasn't a big deal for us since we weren't planning to use the TV. 2. One of the reasons I really liked this house is that it had a fireplace. This is true, but it's meant for burning DuraFlame logs, not actual firewood. I didn't realize that "real" fires aren't really a thing in Iceland.
The open plan living area features large windows allowing natural light to fill the space. A cozy sofa and armchair provide comfortable seating, while a wooden dining table with several chairs offers dining space. Soft textiles on the furniture enhance the inviting atmosphere.

Cozy Cabin

JenniferRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The cabin sits in it's own large plot of wooded ground, it is several kilometers from the main route one, which means that it is very peaceful and private. The view from the main cabin windows is beautiful, to sit and watch the ever changing light over the snow covered mountains is truly lovely. The cabin was always warm and cozy with a particularly warm shower room. It is equipped with everything you could need, the stove may be small but you do also have a microwave, a toasted sandwich maker and a waffle maker. It is obvious that this is not just a business but a well loved cabin, as such it has loads of extra bits and pieces that make a stay more interesting and enjoyable. The beds are very comfortable with deep mattresses and mattress toppers. There is a plentyfull supply of towels and toiletries. Vignir has produced a guide of nearby attractions which we found particularly helpful. Vignir responded immediately to any questions that I had. We can highly recommend Cozy Cabin.
A wooden cabin features a sloped roof with a red metal covering. The front deck includes a railing and is bordered by natural landscaping, while large windows allow for ample light. Green storage bins are positioned near the entrance.
