This stay is truly incredible. We had sloths outside of the house, saw poison dart frogs, heard howler monkeys, saw bats. Truly a nature lovers paradise. The starlink connection was fantastic! My bf and I were able to work remotely without issue. The sea here does have jellyfish so you have to be careful, and it does get extremely hot/humid (there is no AC, only fans). If you are okay with very simple accomodations / living, then you will really enjoy this place. We drove about 45 minutes to Changuinola to get groceries (we stayed for 3 weeks) so we needed a bigger supermarket. A great place to enjoy nature and Mary was always super responsive!

Julia’s place is an absolute gem, nestled in the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea at the southern tip of Isla Cristóbal—about a 30-minute boat ride from the main island, Isla Colón. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were stepping into a unique off-grid paradise. The house itself is self-sustaining, powered by solar energy and using filtered rainwater (which, by the way, tastes amazing!). While there’s no air conditioning, there are plenty of fans to keep the air moving. The views from the house are absolutely stunning. In the mornings, dolphins often patrol the area like local marine police, and right beneath the house, we saw massive snappers swimming in the clear waters. If you paddle out into deeper water by kayak or paddleboard, you’ll likely spot graceful rays gliding beneath you—an unforgettable experience. Victoriano, a local caretaker, was extremely helpful on the property and in surrounding areas and guided us on a hike to see the sloths and the monkeys.

My goal was to sit on an island and become one with the sloths. I achieved that goal with my stay here. The entire staff is wonderful – Leo and Esther and especially Andrea. Juan and Sara helped organize my stay and I cannot thank them enough!

We were very happy with our stay. Exactly what we wanted (lots of wildlife to take pictures of, colorful frogs, Tucan, many sloths, hummingbirds, Insects, dolphins, Monkeys, butterflies,...) but you need time, we stayed 12 days and each day we found something new. Very nice people, very helpful, great knowledge about the plants and animals and of course the chocolate. Did excursions with Pepito which we liked. We really liked the dark nights with the stars. Bring a good flashlight.
