Beachfront vacation rentals in Balapitiya

The place was lovely, right on the river front and absolutely peaceful. Its also very close to the beach and we would definitely recommend the place. Somehow the tuktuk price around the area were pretty outrageous, so if you have a rented or owned vehicle, it’ll make things a lot easier but that’s not on the host, they were absolutely amazing.

Wow wow, we had an incredible stay! The housekeeper Ari and his wife amita were so so kind, the oceanfront location was impeccable, we had an issue with the electric, but thanks to Rebecca’s quick and helpful service it was taken care of promptly and professionaly, I would highly recommend this property!

It was a pleasure to stay here. We had everything we needed. Nihal helped a lot: with transfers, sightseeing, food, house, etc. We didn't have any problems. He's a great host! I highly recommend it!

We spent a whole month in this house and were delighted! Spacious, cozy, with a lovely chill area by the river where you can relax and enjoy nature. I especially liked the rooftop – the perfect place to do yoga. The kitchen is fully equipped, so it was convenient to cook. The beds in the bedrooms are comfortable, slept great. The beach is only a 5-7 minute walk and the surf spot in Weligama is about 25 minutes away. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we are grateful to the hosts for their hospitality!

The beach hut is a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful green location. The hut is basic but has everything you need, just a step away from the beach. The hosts are very helpful, and their restaurant across the street is definitely worth a visit. This place is highly recommended!

The place is great. bed is comfortable, kitchen well equipped and very well located. a few minutes walk to the main beach and 15 minutes to Secret Beach. Prabodi is incredibly kind and helpful, and very responsive. I would definitely stay here again.

We spent a month here – it's almost a perfect place! The Internet is ideal for work, including video calls. Comfortable bed with new mattress. The bathroom is a delight! The toilet and shower are separated from each other, and the hot water is really unlimited hot water and with great pressure. The kitchen has everything except the Turks for making coffee, but it's a small thing. We made friends with our dogs and played often. They really bark, but only when someone comes, which in our case was very rare. The hosts are wonderful people, it was easy and pleasant to communicate on all issues. There is no noise insulation between our and neighboring apartments at the expense of a thin door in an adjacent wall. We rented this apartment too and used them as a separate office. When someone arrives at the villa, you can hear absolutely everything that happens on the street at any time of the day. In any case, my rating is 10 out of 10 because all the listed pros more than compensate for the minor shortcomings. Thank you!

Good place to stay just in front of the beach.

A very clean and cosy villa located a short walk from the beach. Close to many surf-schools and restaurants. Sahan was a great host and ensured everything was clean.

Fantastic place, beautiful pool and gardens. So easy to flow right from living area to pool. Not right on the beach but access very easy through adjoining vacant property of same owners. Staff super attentive. Lovely village of Ballapitiya only 5 mins walk up a quiet lane way, with a multitude of eating options. We loved this village as we seemed to be the only tourists, locals genuine and friendly.

Wonderful spacious place with fresh renovation and mesmerizing ocean view. Very easy to to contact your host and staff. Lots of places around, 1 minute to the ocean. There is a minimum set of detergents - shower gels and shampoos. Clean enough, but the kitchen is starting to feel a little musty. For this season, it can look a little expensive and I want to expect more details at this price category - slippers, bathrobes, toothbrushes, more towels, shaving accessories, but these are more points for improvement, still this is an apartment, not a hotel. 11/10 :)

We had a wonderful stay at Catherine’s cottage. Location was good; walkable to the beach. It is hard to fully explain just how spacious the cottage is - every room is large and well thought out, even the outside veranda is enormous. The children loved the little pool, it was absolutely perfect to end our Sri Lankan adventure. Thank you.

We stayed at Pasan's hotel for 5 nights. The complex is beautiful, the garden very well maintained, the palm trees on the beach make a beautiful picture and also the pool was great. The room and bathroom were sufficiently big and clean. The staff, who were on site from morning to evening, was very friendly and we got very tasty food. We felt very comfortable. The three other rooms were also occupied by guests at times, but overall it was very quiet, you can only hear the waves rushing. Unfortunately, you can't swim in the sea due to the high waves, but there is the pool for that. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Good place for family holidays. They have a chef who will plate some amazing food.

We had a lovely stay at the villa. While located on a busy street, the villa is quite peaceful with wonderful views of the ocean. Out front there are shops and restaurants easily accessible by foot or tuk tuk, which was quite convenient. Outback there is a lovely beach, though it was severely eroded at our time of visit (due to the monsoon season). Irrespective, we enjoyed being able to stroll and explore and visit the turtle hatchery directly next door. The villa itself is well appointed with much of what one would need. The pool was lovely and the bedrooms, enormous bathrooms, and AC made for a comfortable stay. All that said, the thing that made the villa was the lovely staff. They made us feel welcome, offered wonderful suggestions and arranged some excursions for us, and really elevated our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa, located right on the serene and picturesque Talpe Beach. The calm, crystal-clear waters were perfect for calm bathing, and we were lucky enough to spot massive turtles every morning! We loved the option of cooking for ourselves, and the fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. The vibrant markets in Galle, just a 15-minute drive away, offered an incredible variety of fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables, which was a real treat. If you prefer, Anjalee, the lovely housekeeper, is also available to cook you breakfast. The villa was impeccably clean, and the communication with Jack was seamless and clear from start to finish. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks there. The house is a godsend with its location, right on the beach, and its amenities. The residents in the neighborhood were all very friendly. The place is not yet a tourist hotspot, which we enjoyed very much. There is a train station in Ambalanghoda, so you can easily get to other cities. Otherwise, the usual tuk tuks run everywhere. Jay the housekeeper fulfilled all our wishes and was very accommodating. He cooked for us a few times for an extra charge, very tasty!

So, you’re obviously looking for accommodation in south-west Sri Lanka – well don’t look any further than Sailor’s Bay. From the minute you enter this paradise, you will be welcomed and charmed by Dilan and his family. The environment is gorgeous – any stress totally disappears. Nothing is too much trouble. They are engaging, and genuinely go out of their way to ensure that every second of your stay is a second to remember. Our family (13 – 3 generations – ages 2 – 74) was continually astounded by their willingness to do the best by us . It was a sad time when we left, but happy in the knowledge that we will return. So, take my word for it – Sailor’s Bay will not disappoint even the most pedantic traveler.

I stayed for two weeks at this beachfront villa in Ambalangoda, and it was an incredible experience. The villa is spacious, with large rooms and plenty of space to relax. Having a parking area was a huge advantage, especially for my rented motorcycle. Denuka, the host, was extremely helpful and responsive. He quickly addressed my requests via WP and ensured a smooth stay. Another highlight was Denuka’s uncle, who spends most of the day near the swing in the front yard. He is incredibly kind and always ready to help whenever needed. Exploring the surroundings by motorcycle was a fantastic experience—I highly recommend it. Overall, this villa is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and scenic getaway. I would definitely stay here again!

We really loved our stay at Nalinda’s place. But if you are looking for a fancy, high-end place according to European or US standards, do not choose this one because you will be disappointed. If you are looking for an authentic and charming place with lively people who are super friendly and helpful, take a chance, because it is actually a great deal (never forget how much you are paying !). Nalinda is the best Airbnb host I have ever experienced: super communicative and great at giving tips and arranging transport. Sachin, the person responsible for the house and the tuc tuc, is great. He is the one driving you around and yes, he might be a bit more expensive than the guys you can stop on the street but then it is also super convenient to have a personal driver at all times. The garden and the pool are a definite bonus and there is a beautiful beach on the other side of the road (don’t get discouraged by the wrecked houses that you have to pass). This is authentic Sri Lankan living 💕

Great place: as described. The ocean view from the bedrooms was so relaxing. Worth paying the price. Pramod was super responsive, friendly and a great host. On the last day his mom made fish roti for us; it was such a sweet gesture. Would definitely recommend Pramod's place if you are in the area. Thank you!

Me and my wife like this place so much! The location is the best for house on the beach! The view is amazing, the rooms are clear and comfortable. Hot water and AC in every bedroom. Big living room and comfortable kitchen. Two minutes with Tuk tuk from the city center. And we appreciate the hospitality and help of our host Shashi, who was available at all times! Thank you and we meet again soon!
