My place is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Alpena. There are a variety of restaurants and bars all within 1/4 mile. Lake Huron is my front yard, with tennis and basketball courts available for public use. The Alpena bandshell is a hop and skip from my house; every Saturday there’s a concert in the summer. There are two public beaches within a mile. And you can see masts from sailboats out my front window as the boat harbor is my neighbor.

2nd Retreat

This bright and quaint historical little house is one block from the downtown district. This 2nd retreat has a charming enclosed front porch for sitting, a quiet serene space to enjoy your morning coffee or glass of wine, to read a book or just to sit and relax. Our place is on Long Lake in Alpena/Presque Isle area, less than 10 miles from downtown Alpena and Lake Huron. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families with children. The lake is an all sports (stocked) lake with great fishing. There is a dock available (seasonal) for your use and several boat launches nearby. The area is perfect for ice fishing and snowmobiling in the winter. We are also close to state hunting land.

The large picture window overlooking Big Lake provides a birds eye view (partial view) of both the canopy and lake. This 81’ deep lake has an island and home to many types of fish that's why we brought fishing/recreational kayaks for our guests. The boat launch access is just 1.6 miles from the sunshine cabin. The cabin is secluded on 1.45 acres of trees.
