Places to stay in Agios Nikolaos

Perfect little apartment/ bed sit directly over a little dirt track to the beach. Not a private terrace, but that really doesn’t matter as very few cars. We sat outside with a drink or play cards most evening after a day walking and sightseeing. There are sun beds to use at the property which we would take over to the beach. The sunsets were amazing. There is a restaurant next door, which was ok to eat at(it didn’t cause noise) . Lots of lovely restaurants around the next bay, 10 minutes walk. The bed was very comfortable, this was important to me🤗 . The hosts were very kind and helpful, checking via messages that everything was ok. We plan to go again and would recommend the area, hosts and their accommodation.

Amazing, and spacious villa, we were a big family of 10 and had an amazing time. This villa is a slice of heaven. Very close to the beach and many nice restaurants.

Great location situated between the lively Chersonissos and the more quiet Koutouloufari. Best place to relax with your privat pool, and the best host Izabela.

The apartment is in an excellent location, on one side in a quiet street and on the other side across from a supermarket and within walking distance of the main street. The apartment is very clean and equipped with everything you need for cooking. Konstantinos was available for any question and request.

Our stay at Ninemia Villas was absolutely perfect! The villa exceeded all expectations – it’s beautifully designed and provides everything for a relaxing getaway. A special thanks to George and his wonderful wife, who welcomed us warmly and supported us with valuable tips about the area. They truly made us feel at home. The villa was immaculate, with thoughtful details everywhere: from high-quality furnishings in the bedrooms and bathrooms to a fully equipped kitchen where nothing was missing. The private pool deck and the outdoor grill created memorable moments. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to Plaka Beach, and the private terrace offered stunning views. Almyriki Studio is a perfect place for people looking for peace and relaxation away from tourist hustle and bustle. The accommodation is very, very nice for two and fully corresponds to the descriptions. The beach (30m) was beautiful and empty with about 1km length and with about 20 people. In Sindonia there was a tavern on the beach until the end of October that was visited a lot by locals and has super good local dishes but also delivers very good standards (pizza, etc.)! There are several mountain hikes within 20 km that are a very good and exciting alternative to the beach. All in all highly recommended!

We had a super time with Stefani and Antonis. The villa is super, the pool was warm, the area quiet, and the view down to Herssonios and out right to the mountains was lovely. We chose it because it was walking distance to some shops and restaurants. The village is lovely and a short 5-10min walk from the villa. We were at the very end of the season, so many of the restaurants in the village closed, but we always found somewhere to eat. Herssonios is a longer walk away (maybe 30 mins) and has supermarkets, pharmacies, and restaurants galore, even after the season ended. We found the walk downhill to the town, and back uphill to the village fine, even with 2 kids. Herssonios itself didn’t hold much charm for us, but we found a taxi to Agios Nikolas (delightful), Heraklion’s museum (more engaging for us than the Athens archeological museum), and Rethimno (lovely old town, laneway cafes, long stretch of beach) filled enough of our days. And with a heated pool to return to, no complaints.
