This Airbnb is an absolute gem! If I could, I would give 6 stars out of 5. It is located in a tranquil coastal community with amazing wildlife. You will see koalas on the trees right in front of the house, kangaroos hopping in the back garden, and echidnas trying to find food in the front garden. I should also mention the amazing starry sky. Nevertheless, it is only a short drive to Kingscote, which is the biggest town on the island. The Airbnb itself is very spacious and has a beautiful sea view. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped and has everything that you need. And when I say "everything", I really mean "everything"! It's not the typical Airbnb kitchen, which has all the basics, but you could tell that Herb really made an effort to equip the kitchen as if it were your home. Herb himself is an absolute gentleman, who welcomed us personally, showed us around and helped us a lot to plan our stay on the island. He provides a lot of local information and is lovely to talk to.

Marine Cottage was perfect. The view was spectacular with the beach directly in front. The house had everything we needed, was extremely clean and had personal touches like fresh eggs and water. The location is excellent for exploring the island. We walked and swam at the beach everyday. We will be back next year. Thanks Peter and Jo.

This house was perfect for taking our Uk family to Kangaroo Island. Emu Bay has safe swimming and is very beautiful and peaceful. We also saw koalas, kangaroos and penguins. House is well equipped and was big enough to comfortably accommodate our family of 4 adults. Over the weekend there is a small cafe, bar by the beach which was great for having a drink while looking at the beach.

My wife and I spent 3 days at Shalom. Within an hour of arriving we had seen two koalas, several kangaroos and an echidna, all right outside the property. The location was perfect, and the house itself was spacious and comfortable. If you want tranquility and access to lots of wildlife, this is the place to get it. The beach was a short walk away, and Kingscote with its shops and restaurants is a 15 minute drive. We took a trip to Flinders Chase (a fantastic coastal reserve with stunning coastline) and another to Seal Bay, where you can walk amongst a sea lion colony. Both were comfortable drives from Emu Bay. Would definitely recommend Shalom, and if we (hopefully) make it back to Kangaroo Island again, we will aim to stay there again.
