Cabin vacation rentals in Upala

Great private location, about 10 min drive to the main downtown with all the restaurants and shops. Would recommend a car given how secluded it is. The hot tub was not used, when we arrived we had to fill it with water which we decided not to do because of all the insects inside. There were also small ants all over the kitchen, however Roy immediately came and sprayed the place and it was resolved. Overall a good place, spacious, insects are unavoidable but would have been nice to not deal with on arrival.

We had a wonderful stay at Ari's Airbnb! She welcomed us warmly, even with a bottle of local wine, despite our late arrival. The house was absolutely beautiful—clean, cozy, and surrounded by nature. We especially loved soaking in the hot tub after long days of exploring. It also had a well equipped kitchen and great art throughout. Ari was super responsive and kind. When we had trouble figuring out the hot water late at night, she was ready to help and even offered to send her partner over to help. We ended up solving it ourselves, but her offer meant a lot. We also had an accidental mix up with a personal item, and she graciously helped us coordinate its return with her family. Her communication was thoughtful and smooth throughout our stay. The whole experience felt easy, relaxing, and cared for. We couldn’t recommend her or her place more—it’s a perfect getaway spot with a truly great host.

We loved our stay at Magdalena’s house. It was like a private tropical paradise and Magdalena is the perfect host. Max planned our excursions for us and was SO helpful. The house was lovely but the backyard was amazing. The house features a wrap around porch with a comfy couch and chairs and large outdoor dining table. There is a separate large outdoor kitchen area with grills, additional seating and a hot tub. The infinity pool is steps away. The view from all vantage points is breathtaking and the grounds are landscaped beautifully. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms clean with rain showers and plenty of hot water. The AC worked perfectly and kept us cool. Esmeralda came daily and even did our dishes and laundry. The house is a 40 minute drive to the Arenal area. The main roads into La Fortuna were well maintained. The drive was long but easy. Shopping was a bit of a challenge but there are local “supermarkets” and a Maxi Pali in La Fortuna. Enjoy!

What an amazing place to stay! The views through big windows are beautiful, the outdoor area is stunning, we loved hanging out outside in the evenings and early mornings to watch the birds and listen to the jungle. We have seen more birds in our back yard than at some guided tours in the rainforest. We heard howler monkeys as well. There are frogs that usually come out after it rains and little geckos are adorable. Everything was in working order. The mini split in the downstairs bedroom worked very well. I only wish there was another AC unit upstairs or at least a big ceiling fan as upstairs gets very very warm during the day but it cools off in the evening enough for a comfortable sleep. I highly recommend this accommodation, it was a highlight of our trip.

Ok, the place and the host are perfect. The problem is that it says San Ramón and maybe it happens to you, as it did to me, we imagined it as being near San Ramón downtown, but no! Literally, it is Peñas Blancas, it is about 20 or 25 minutes from Fortuna, so if you think of something closer, it is complicated because it takes more than 3 hours from San José. So, just so you know, but it's totally worth it! The cabin, the river, everything is great, really

David was amazing. And his space was absolutely beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. It really is a little oasis. The outside terrace was maybe my favorite part. And the garden/small trail is beautiful. It's literally a 3 minute walk from El Salto, which is a blast. And it's a quick 15 minute walk to the center of La Fortuna, making shopping and eating out really convenient without having to worry about transportation. David also helped us setup our transportation from the airport and to our 2nd Air BnB. Next time I'm in Fortuna, I already know where I'm staying. Thanks again for having us. Pura Vida.

This place is a paradise! It was the perfect home base to explore the La Fortuna area. The beautiful gardens are full of wildlife to enjoy, and the hot tub was a perfect place to relax at the end of the day. Jonathan was quick to respond and the place was spotless when we arrived. We can't wait to return!

This is by far one of the best air bnb stays I’ve ever had! We rented a car and the location was perfect for us, about 20 minutes to La fortuna town and about 20-35 minutes to most excursions we did. The stay was extremely clean, especially for being right in the jungle! We got to see a lot of diversity in animals outside as the property is right on their farm. The stay had everything we needed. Maria was an amazing host! Extremely welcoming, responsive and cooked us an amazing breakfast every morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this stay!

Nice and affordable stay close to entrance and town centter

Beautiful!! It was exactly what we were looking for and had a view of the volcano too. Description mentions we might see some bugs because it’s in nature but we didn’t see any! Super clean and the bed was so big and comfortable! Also Melania provided great local recommendations and it was very easy to find. We definitely would stay here again and recommend it!

Mabel is a wonderful host and you even get breakfast! The apartment is furnished with a lot of love and you have a beautiful view of nature.

Wonderful Airbnb! Looked exactly like pictures and it was so pretty and peaceful. Was easy to find and felt safe. The only issue was the amount of little bugs everywhere. Everything else was clean. Would be helpful to have more than two towels for guests.

Where to begin...a beautiful location outside of the thick tourist zone of La Fortuna. The views and surroundings were breathtaking. Only about a 10-minute drive into the center of La Fortuna with great dining options. The house was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Agustin was responsive and very friendly. Highly recommend this stay for you and your family! Would also be very private and romantic for a couple.

Beautiful place. Looks just like the pictures. The view is STUNNING! It is very far from La Fortuna and you need a 4x4 to get to it because of the rocky roads. It’s very remote and so peaceful. The host was very helpful and responsive.

We got up close and personal with the sloths that have claimed your oasis(two fell out of a tree right in front of us! The cold pool was a refreshing welcome from the heat.

A lovely and peaceful location. The house and property were immaculately maintained. We enjoyed the private trails and the overlook. We were even fortunate enough to see a sloth with a baby in a nearby tree! There are many interesting things to see and do around the area. We enjoyed zip lining and tubing on the Rio Celeste through Rio Celeste Adventuras in Katira. The hosts are very good at communicating and there were no difficulties at all. We would love to return to stay again and do more!

I love the place! Very nice views

The house was amazing. It was clean and neat and exactly as the listing showed. The house was secluded and surrounded by farm but the location was very close to town - less than 5 minutes away. The host was easy to work with and very responsive. The host provided many good restaurant suggestions and where to get groceries. The host also messaged me several times to ask if I had any questions or was having any issues. Overall, everything was perfect!!

Mario's place was a gem, he and his mother were waiting for us despite us having tricky journey and arriving much later than planned. They have a farm and it felt authentic, we really loved the place it was peaceful and beautiful with a huge bed and good amenities 😊

The place was breathtaking and the hot tub was an extra bonus. It was so relaxing and peaceful to sit in the hot tub or just sit on the beautiful balcony while listening to the nearby river. The place was very clean and the host did extra things to make it feel even more special - provided robes, fresh fruit, cold drinks. Definitely would recommend this place to stay and relax while enjoying the near by areas!! Thanks for making our vacation special!!

My boyfriend and I were stationed in la fortuna for a couple of days and decided on this lovely bungalow. It exceeded our expectations. We were greeted with a beautiful heart shaped towel, along with a complimentary bottle of wine from the host. On top of all of this, Christopher was a joy and always very responsive. We loved the view and the jacuzzi was a nice touch. We walked on the trails around the bungalow and we were also a short 10 minute drive from the town. Overall, amazing experience- I would recommend for a romantic getaway.

Amazing place very private with a lake next to the house, saw many birds, lizards and insects outside of the house of course, felt right at home, would come back without a doubt. The host was really helpful when we wrote to them they came in within a halfhour to help show us how the hot water worked and to fix the bed issue we had. Very friendly. Very great to open the windows and feel right outside while cooking breakfast. Was very clean. The cows in the backyard were friendly and added a country side feeling. Loved every bit of our stay. Thanks alot.
