Aroha’s cabin was super cozy and welcoming—felt like a home away from home. She was really clear with communication and super kind and understanding. You can tell she’s put a lot of thought into making sure guests have everything they need, from great cooking facilities to little extras like a universal charger. We had such an awesome stay! Opononi is one of the most beautiful towns we’ve ever been to—the views are unreal, the swimming is incredible, and the walks are absolutely amazing. Aroha had heaps of great recommendations for things to do, which made our trip even better. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

This is a well kept home which outshines the photos in real life. Beautifully clean with comfortable furnishings. Lovely natural linens on the beds. We are sensitive to fragrance & perfumes and there was minimal use of scents here so literally a breath of fresh air. Thank you Bruce! Very generous and considerate hosts. Lovely outdoor plantings of camelias that were in flower around the boundary. Wonderful to be near the stand of Totara trees. The property is close to the road, but the odd bit of traffic noise was not a disturbance. Would be happy to come here and stay again.

Wonderful stay in Kohukohu - so peaceful and relaxing with great local history. The cottage was lovely with well equipped kitchen and good bathroom - all spotless. The views from the front deck are incredible and the beds very comfortable. Communication with Olivia was very good and it was all just as described (I don’t know what the previous reviewer was on about). I would highly recommend for a quiet escape in the Hokianga and would definitely return.

We didn’t want to leave! Your warm welcome on our arrival, accompanied by a gorgeous handwritten note, warm sourdough bread, fresh milk and freshly baked walnut chocolate chip biscuits, perfectly epitomised our stay at Cowshed Cottage! We loved the well-thought-out decor, the delightful linens on the comfy bed, and all the welcoming nooks that begged us to enjoy them with a hot drink and a good book in such a peaceful setting. The Cowshed Cottage, and you both, are the blissful warm hug that had us breathing deeply and releasing any stress we didn’t know we needed. One night was not enough! With a longer stay, we might just feel inclined to try out the spectacular gym, although I think cosying down with a glass of something delicious and another book might win out. We can’t wait to return and we will definitely be staying longer next time. Thank you both again for everything.
