Even though it's a little dated, it's quite spacious for a place in Japan, with great parking. The neighborhood is lively, so there was quite a bit of street noise over the weekend at night - easily solved with ear plugs

This is one of the most beautiful houses that we have ever stayed in. You feel like you have stepped out in a past where indigo cultivation was flourishing. Incredible Japanese paintings and garden. The house is very comfortable. Shizuya is very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. He gave us a tour of his garden and gave us many delicious vegetables and fruit. His recommendations were very useful. It is a bit tricky to get around with a car because the roads are very narrow and dark at night but well worth it. We highly recommend it and would happily come back. A unique experience!

We had a fantastic stay at Shin’s place. Great value! Shin and his wife are incredibly helpful and friendly hosts who let us use two of their bikes for our mini pilgrimage to eight temples in the area and also gave us a ride to the train station at the end of our stay. We cooked breakfast in the little kitchen in the apartment and went out for several really good meals in the neighborhood. The hot showers were very nice and the heater worked well. It was super quiet at night. Highly recommend Shin’s place!

Check-in was smooth and easy to get in. The room was equipped with some cooking utensils, etc., and I was able to cook a little meal.
