Thanks to Yassian, and a special shoutout to Memory and Bakor, who made our stay truly memorable. If you choose to stay here, you're not just booking a homestay you’re stepping into a beautiful chapter of Meghalaya’s living history. The property is built beneath the GG Swell Museum, and learning about his pivotal role in the region’s past added so much meaning to our visit. What makes it even more special is that the next generation of GG Swell’s family is lovingly preserving this legacy while managing the stay. Thank you, Yassian we wish we had a chance to meet you in person! As for the stay itself, it’s like being in a jungle paradise. You’re surrounded by nature, and while the insects are real (keep those doors sealed!), you're also guaranteed one of the most peaceful sleeps you'll ever have. Bakor handled all the stay logistics smoothly, and Memory well, she truly lives up to her name, leaving us with memories we’ll cherish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting!

I had a memorable stay at Emily and Sankrita's place. The place is a luxury given that it is located in a village and has every amenities one can look for in this budget. Sankrita is the sweetest host I have ever met. She and her team went out of their way to make my stay comfortable, always ready to respond to every demand. Sankrita also took me to nearby places of interest and cooked awesome food. The location is a bit remote, and the roads not so good. but it is totally worth it because of the genuine and kind hospitality of the host and the arrangements. Emily took care of all the initial communications. It was my "home" away from home, for those days and Sankrita made it possible. 💕 I cannot thank her enough for everything.

Three days went like a dream! The best host in the cabin was definitely Leo, the dog. It seemed like we were his family. The cabin is just like a beautiful painting, and so do the surrounding pine forest and the hills. It’s cozy, comfortable, soul healing. The evenings we spent sitting near the fireplace will remain in our fond memories forever. Will definitely try to visit the cabin again and again in the coming years. Much love to Leo, we miss you, baby doggo ❤️

Good place for a short stay. Everything looks like the pics, it was spick and span, heater and geyser are available, there is a restaurant opposite. The kitchen is well appointed. Only drawback for me was the height of the bedroom ceiling upstairs. The low ceiling made sitting up in bed impossible,also had to bend down just to get onto the upper level. Batista is very helpful and recommended a great driver as well.He was also helpful in making guide arrangements for Mawphlang sacred grove and the David Scott trail. Be aware that Mawphlang in general seems very cold compared to the rest of Meghalaya, in my experience, as we visited Shillong,Sohra,Shnongpdeng etc all of which were much warmer. It was 7 degrees at night in Mawphlang and we visited in March,which I think is summer for Meghalaya.We struggled with the cold and were thankful we were there only for a night.

I just found this place at the last minute due to change of plans in my trip. Thanks to Nang for accommodating my stay. This is a camp stay is on the bank of river. The tents are clean, hygienic and very comfortable too. Nang and Masser was very communicative and friendly and their hospitality was excellent. The food provided was amazing and super delicious. Nang,Masser and team have put great efforts to make my trip the best. Once again thank you for having me at your place. If you are in Shnongpdeng it's highly recommend to stay here.

Martina is no ordinary women..a woman with tons of experience from 5star hotels and airline. very friendly helpful host with homely touch.. she also invited us for khasi dinner. her mother and sister also help her and are very much helpful. if you have your own transportation this is the best value for money in Shillong. We recently stayed at The Hesed House in Cherrapunjee, and it was a delightful experience. The cottage is beautifully done up, offering a cozy and warm ambiance, perfect for a getaway. With four well-appointed bedrooms, it comfortably accommodated our group of 6. One of the standout features was the lovely library, perfect for unwinding with a book after a day of exploring, it would be a great idea to include some board games and jigsaw puzzles for the benefit of ones who’d want to unwind otherwise. The kitchenette along with a nice big dining table was well-equipped, giving us the option to enjoy some light meals in the comfort of the cottage. The fireplace added an extra touch of warmth, making the evenings feel particularly special with superbly made cocktails. We also had the pleasure of trying the local khasi food, which was flavourful and authentic. Tracy, the attendant, was always courteous and greeted us with a warm smile, ensuring that we felt right at home. Thank you.
