Close to the historic towns of Tavistock, Brentor & Lydford. On the boundary of Dartmoor National Park; perfect for walkers, horseriders, cyclists and those looking to relax. Easy reach to Cornwall and north coast. We welcome small dogs with manners as we have chickens, cats and a horse on site. The Old Smithy is set is a secluded valley on the river Tavy. It is a mile from the nearest road, down a private track through beautiful moorland and woodland. It's an ideal base for walking, cycling wild swimming and getting away from it all, a true nature lovers paradise! We live in a house on the same site so will be on hand for any advice or assistance. We are on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and an hour's drive from numerous beaches. The thriving town of Tavsitock is 7 miles away.

The Forge is a unique place full of character set at the edge of Dartmoor and only 2 miles from the market town of Tavistock. The Forge is a great place for cyclists and walkers, or if you just want to get away from it all. The Cornish Coast is not far and the city of Plymouth full of history is just a short car journey. Tavistock has the markets and lovely cafes and restaurants. The Forge has a log burner to snuggle up next too on those chilly evenings and a garden to enjoy.

Next to the owners' farmhouse, the accommodation is of an excellent standard with fabulous views of the paddock and the dramatic hills of Dartmoor beyond. Close to the open moor you can enjoy excellent walks or cycle rides in the surrounding countryside where the idyllic rural scenes of War Horse were filmed. The local town, Yelverton, is a few minutes drive and has a good butcher, Co-op, Post Office, pubs and more!
