Guesthouse vacation rentals in Taito City

Yuko was very communicative when we needed help checking in and extending the stay slightly. The place is not on GPS and she gave amazing detailed instructions to find it. Would come back!

Mr. Kazushi turned out to be a very hospitable person with whom we felt at home on the other side of the world. Even before arriving in Japan, he offered advice on arrival and check-in, during the stay he answered all questions and gave advice in case of any ambiguities, and he himself regularly asked if we needed anything and if everything was okay with us. Oyama is a quieter neighborhood than downtown Tokyo and we were very pleased to be able to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city after our all-day trips. It was our first stay in Japan, and Mr. Kazushi made it much easier and more enjoyable for us. The check-out after the stay was also flexible and agreed with us as to the exact time, for which we were very grateful. We hope to visit Koala Guest House again and thank you again for your hospitality, Kazushi-san!

This is a private room in a shared kitchen and bathroom space as advertised (one shower, two toilets). There are four private rooms total. The neighborhood itself is less than 10 minutes walk from the Tokyo Dome and Korakuen Park and is a quiet side street with 7-11, Lawson, and a Donki nearby. If you are hoping to be near other popular areas like Shibuya, Ginza, or Roppongi, Asakusa etc then you’d need to commute further out. However the unit is within 10 minute walking distance to various transit lines. The AC is controlled per each room and the room itself is larger than most you’d get within other busier areas of Tokyo. Kenichi is a responsive host and I was able to slightly adjust the checkout time. You can drop off your luggage before check-in in the shared area; however please note this area is not secure if you are concerned. I did not have any concerns about that. Overall a good choice for solo travellers who are near the Dome for sporting events etc!

Great location, with good value for money, this place is perfect for traveling alone.

My trip was perfect. Thank you Kazuo for the hospitality. The neighborhood is quiet and you have everything you need very close. I will miss the two precious cats. I hope to be able to repeat on my return to Japan :)

It's a nice small unit with great amenities. Kasha is super responsive and made my trip easy and stress free!

It is close to the subway station. The room is very small. The front desk is very welcoming. The mattress is also very comfortable to sleep on. You can see the Skytree on the rooftop.

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at the secret base. It was the perfect place to come back to after a busy day in Tokyo. Not as centrally located as some more expensive places but you’ll quickly realize you don’t want to be around the hustle and bustle all day. It was still incredibly convenient with the train station being a short walk or bike ride away! Emiko and her staff were always responsive and took care of everything. There were more amenities than I have ever seen at a hotel or airbnb - I had a jacket that needed a lint roller and of course it was already there. I will say, the warnings about being near a children’s school are correct, you will hear them from about 8:30am to 5:00pm on weekdays, but that’s when you’re going to be out exploring anyway. The bathroom and shower are separate rooms you need to go outside for, and that may be a consideration if you’re staying during the winter months. However, I loved my stay so much and I will definitely be back!

I don't think there's a place like this among the accommodations you can go to at this price range.
