Family-friendly vacation rentals in Sylvan Beach

We had a great stay at Matt and Kristy's Country Lodge! It’s an excellent value with a large open-concept great room, comfy seating, a spacious kitchen, scenic deck, and a nice bathroom. The master bedroom is cozy, and there are plenty of sleeping areas throughout—perfect for families. They’ve thought of everything, from clear signage to thoughtful touches that make the space feel welcoming. My kids loved exploring the trails, the waterfall area, and spotting the giant goldfish in the pond. We didn’t get to try the hot tub due to rain and chilly weather, but it looked great. Be sure to stop by their farm store—they offer fresh eggs and honey that are definitely worth picking up. The farm stand looks lovely too; we’d love to return during growing season. The entire property is super charming and clearly well cared for. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at Ryan's house on the lake. It was peaceful and quiet and the view was incredible. There is a lot of things for kids to do down in the playroom and it was a wonderful deck to have a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Also, Sylvan Beach is less than 10 minutes away so there are plenty of restaurants and fun near by. We would definitely love to stay again!

Perfect location for a show at a local venue. Clean and comfortable and shops and restaurants a short drive in either direction. Matt and Kristy were responsive and had great instructions and communications. I will look to book again when returning to the area.

Their home is so beautiful! Bruce and Caryn are lovely hosts, Bruce especially was very responsive and even helped us out when we were nearly snowed in a couple mornings. The space was used to film a student short film and he was very kind and gracious about the whole process. It was a very peaceful stay on the most gorgeous grounds imaginable. I loved every second I spent there and alway felt looked out for and taken care of. I cannot thank Bruce and Caryn enough!

Alex was an excellent host, communicative from start to finish. The house was lovely and perfect for three sets of parents visiting their kids at Colgate. It was comfortable and clean with lots of style and flare and everything you could need in the kitchen. Alex was also very understanding of a spill (tomato sauce on the dining room rug) and our attempts to clean it. A great all around and comfortable experience!

was perfect for what we were looking for. Bev responded to all my questions very fast and was very accommodating to all of my requests. There was plenty of parking for all of our vehicles.

Everything was great, the house has a good location and has everything you need. The place is cozy and you feel like you were home! Would definitely recommend!

We stayed here for my daughter’s graduation from Syracuse. Although a drive from the city, it was a great choice for hanging out away from the busyness of Syracuse. We really enjoyed our time here and it was a good set up for my ILs who had access to the downstairs bedroom and bathroom.

We had a great visit for our son's graduation. The house is in a great location, and has plenty of room. The hosts prepared perfectly, were thoughtful and accommodating. Communication was easy, the hosts were very responsive and made our stay a big success.

We enjoyed staying here in this very nice historical building while visiting our grandson at Hamilton College. The flights of stairs up to our apartment were not too much of a challenge for us oldsters. The apartment was spacious, clean, tidy, and well appointed with linens and towels. There was a very fancy espresso machine. However I had no idea how to operate it! Luckily there was a cozy coffee shop right next door for morning coffee and pastries. Richard was easy to contact and answered our calls quickly. We would like to stay here again!

My family and I had a great time out here. The house is very cozy and the location is very quiet. We loved the lake access which has a really nice sunset. Can’t beat it for the price.

This little apartment was the perfect place for my mom and I to relax and have a lovely time in Sylvan Beach! Roomier than I expected from the pictures which was a great surprise (for some reason I imagined you had to walk through the one bedroom to get to the other- that’s not true at all! There is a separate hallway that connects the two and the one to the living room space). The location on the beach is just perfect, and a wonderful yard with multiple spaces/ uses. Chris was so responsive and helpful with anything we needed. A great host at a great place- we will definitely be looking to book again in the future!!! Only tiny downside is no full kitchen- but Chris provides a grill, toaster, microwave, and griddle. Besides, it’s vacation and there are great restaurants in town- who wants to cook on vacation anyways???

We travel often, but rarely leave reviews. In this case David and his apartment definitely deserve recognition. The apartment is clean and comfortable. We were only in town one night, but it would also be comfortable for a longer stay. Parking was easy, and it's a great location. If you are staying in Rome don't bother looking elsewhere. You won't find a nicer place at a better price! David was an incredible host! He knew our travel schedule and left us some bagels, snacks, and drinks. It was incredibly thoughtful. He spent a considerable amount of time giving us information about the area. He could not have been more gracious and welcoming. It was a wonderful experience!

I would certainly stay there again. With every review I give positives and negatives. The key negative was the building is older. This means the floors are a bit uneven, things like that. I've stayed in several places in the NY lakes region and they are all older. only other negative observations were the main TV was on the smaller side and WIFI was spotty at one end of the building. Positives. + Kitchen was in great shape. Appliances all worked well. Lisa left lots of coffee and tea + Lots of room, space for 7-8 people. + Several bathrooms + Heat worked well, water pressure was good, water temperature responsive, utilities all worked well + Great location, right on the main street downtown in a charming village but easy drive to Syracuse (my end location) + Easy check in, parking space included + Lisa's communication was outstanding I felt the apartment was priced well for what I got. Really appreciated the stay and I would certainly do it again.

Our extended family of 8 stayed here for Colgate's 2025 graduation weekend. The location was definitely further away than I wanted (not the host's fault of course) but it ended up working out great. Door to door it's a 35 minute drive, so while we weren't able to go 'back and forth' as much as if we were staying closer, it was a great place to wake up in and return 'home' to at the end of the day's events. There was plenty of room for two sets of grandparents, two siblings and the grad's parents. We loved making coffee and breakfast in the morning and enjoying the absolutely glorious view from the house, plus the kitchen table was a fun end of day gathering spot for us all. Shawn was communicative and accommodating, especially when one pair of guests were way ahead of arrival time, allowing them to enter the property early. I had not been aware of DeRuyter or the lake prior to this, but am glad we had the opportunity to enjoy this home and the area!

Great place for our group consisting of 4 adults and 4 kids. Parking adequate for our 2 cars. Appreciated the location and all the amenities.

Loved the peacefulness of this beautiful home! David and Mercedes were amazing hosts and provided us with many amenities to make it fell just like visiting a family members home! We had 3 families staying there and it was really nice to each have our own full bathrooms. There was plenty of space and multiple options to sleep in pretty much any room. This home was extremely unique, the decor showed David and Mercedes’ adventurous life and their history. Some of the artwork is something that most people will never see their lifetime!
