Vacation rentals with a fireplace in St. Louis County

Jodi’s place was perfect for our three generation family retreat. Spacious two levels provide plenty of room to ‘spread out’ and not feel crowded. There were twelve of us. And of course the teens loved the pool table. Our only regret was not being able to take advantage of the deck and grounds due to the weather. An autumn trip would be great for that. The kitchen and pantry were perfect, with everything we needed and more. You can expect more from this house than even the photos indicate, especially the remarkable master suite. Jodi responds to questions better than any host we’ve had over the years. Her house made our first ever multi generational trip a first class experience. Thank you, Jodi!

This was the perfect place while in town for a weekend of curling. Comfortable, cozy and welcoming, great distance from both Hibbing and Chisholm. We loved the personal touches, the history of the location/house, and the thoughtful welcome basket with snacks (which was a huge blessing after a long day of curling with hungry kids!). We would absolutely stay again!

A truly magical escape! From the moment we stepped into this cabin, it felt like walking into a storybook. Every corner was full of love, thoughtfulness, and hidden treasures. It was like staying in a living museum—so many charming details to take in, quirky pieces to admire, and cozy nooks to explore. There was something new to appreciate each day. Our kids were absolutely enchanted! They spent hours playing with the games, LEGOs, army men, and other little gems tucked around the cabin. Their imaginations ran wild—and so did their energy (thankfully!). The surrounding nature was the perfect playground: long nature walks, climbing trees, watching birds and critters—it was nonstop adventure from sunrise to sunset. And after all that fun? The beds were like clouds. So comfortable, we all slept like logs every night. We are so grateful to have found this slice of magic and can’t wait to return. It’s more than a stay—it’s an experience you’ll carry with you long after you leave.

Wow. What an amazing place! Annual guys "ski trip" that we've been doing for 20+ years. This place was so great we actually didn't make it out skiing. Great place for a group to hang out. Plenty to do in the place (pool table, dart board, poker table, etc.). PLENTY of room to not feel cramped (more square footage than my 2-story home). Also, great location - we were able to park our vehicles when we arrived, and not touch them again until we left. We walked everywhere - plenty of restaurants, bars, short walk to the lake and Canal Park, etc. Very unique place. Host was very responsive and flexible. Can't wait to rent this place again!

Most immaculate place I’ve ever stayed. Spotless. There were 5+ deer directly out the windows during our entire stay. What a bonus! Coffee pot. Not a Keurig. Bring your own grounds. Kitchen is super stocked for cooking and eating. Some spices in cupboards. This place is SO private. No one around as far as the eye can see. Shagawa Lake is slightly visible from the upstairs, mostly if you’re sitting up in bed. Mattress is super, ultra soft. Not my style, but maybe someone else’s. Comfortably accommodates 2 people. 4 would be pushing it. No lock on bathroom door. We watched the sunrises and the sunsets. We enjoyed our stay immensely and hope to return soon.

This space was absolutely spectacular. The photos do not do it justice in any way. I’ve never seen a view as amazing as this from a place I was staying in. It’s worth it for the view alone, then add onto that a Sauna, fireplace, big beautiful clean interior space, and too many more things to list. Also, and this is not a small thing, it is stocked VERY well. This is not an AirBnb that the owner buys, throws a couple pans and plates in, and rents it out. Significant care was put into thinking about what the needs of a guest are. It might not seem like a big deal, but a bedside lamp and side table when you’re reading in bed, big bowls for popcorn, rice cooker, crock pot… you name it. Our stay here was really something special. Can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed our stay at the yurt and our dog really loved it. He loved checking out the trails with us and hanging out with us inside the yurt and outside by the fire pit. I love that the trails are easily accessible from the yurt and it was fun to explore. It would be fun to come back to use a kayak or canoe on the river when it’s warmer. Sue provided great instructions for the wood burning stove, camp oven/burners, solar lights. It felt like she thought of every detail. The bed was comfy and we loved seeing the stars from the dome of the yurt. I’m a light sleeper and the train horn/train proximity are the only things I could change if I could. Sue thought of that too and provided ear plugs. I wish we had time to stay longer. It was very relaxing and a great getaway.

We had a wondeful time at Shawn's "tiny home" cabin. so clean, exactly as described and great surroundings. My 5 year old son LOVED the space and we had a great time skiing, tubing, having pizza, snowshoeing and just hanging out the three of us.

We just loved staying at this cozy retreat. The cabin is tucked away in peaceful surroundings and yet close to the water. A lot of thought has gone into the space: the bathroom has a great shower and the bed was super comfortable. In addition to the cute decor, there are thoughtful additions like electrical outlets with USB ports and ziplock bags in the kitchen. We especially enjoyed watching the local wildlife, walking on the beach, and making a fire on our last night. Our pup was very happy as well! Dave is a great host. He greeted us for checkin and gave us lots of local recommendations. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
