Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Smallingerland

We felt right at home with Joost and Johan - they rented us the apartment over New Year and thus put a lot of trust in our larger group. With 8 people, we were able to spend a great evening in the house and also enjoy the beautiful surroundings on the lake. It was all lovingly furnished and the kitchen was fully equipped. Only regarding the oven we had to reschedule, as we had planned pizza, but the oven was more of a microwave. However, this was not a problem, instead there was pasta :) although we were a large group, the space was fully sufficient and we were completely satisfied. Thank you! We would recommend a stay and would love to come back:)

The Landzicht is literally and figuratively what it is. Beautiful location in the middle of nature. The house is fantastic in terms of location, decor, facilities and customer-friendly Geert & Gretel. They give you space and are there when you need them. It's also wonderful to have bicycles available for an active trip to, for example, Houtegihage or Rotteval on the way to Drachten. In short, had a great time!!!!

We loved staying at this house. The host was very responsive and was able to accommodate us at very short notice. The house was cleaned well and we loved the amount of space we had. The centre of Drachten is just 5 minutes away, and parking is a breeze; there’s always a spot available. The house has everything you might need, the kitchen is very well equipped. While the house isn’t overly furnished or very luxuriously decorated, it has the most comfortable king sized bed we have found in any short term rental home in Drachten. It’s super comfortable! We’d gladly stay in this house again.

A beautiful, very clean and classy house in a quiet area. The owner is polite and friendly. It's the best place to sleep after a busy day in Amsterdam. It's about an hour away from Amsterdam, but the road and streets to get to the house are very smooth and easy.

Quiet, welcoming, beautiful home, with everything needed, the most comfortable bed I've slept in. It was not a problem for us at all, but stairs to the bathroom are quite steep, so surely difficult for people with low mobility.

Very nice place to stay, clean and close to everything you needed. We were able to get near locations, like Harlingen, Leewarden, Sneek and other villages were my family was from. Towns close by offered great food and shopping. I would stay there again. The chickens did wake us up each morning, but I felt like a child again growning up on the farm.

Stayed 3 nights in this B&B. Upon arrival there was a nice Frisian Orange cake as a welcome. Beautiful, clean, bright, cozy house equipped with every comfort, good bed, nice clean bathroom. Patio garden doors with a private terrace and piece of the garden. Friendly owners, who were always concerned that we were lacking something. Had a few wonderful relaxing days and certainly repeatable.

Such a nice, peaceful and cosy place! We stayed here to discover the Lauwersmeer with its variety of birds. It was lovely to start the day peaceful and end it cosy at Hans-Eriks place. Definitely would recommend! Would love to come back in a different season as well.

It was a really great experience, it might be the most beautiful airbnb house I have ever stayed in. The garden and decoration everything was very peaceful. The host Ellen was very helpful, everything you were looking for was at home. As she was always in the same place, we were able to communicate easily. Walking distance to the centre. Had a great stay in the small apartment. Very fully furnished. A wonderful location to completely relax and unwind. You should not be very afraid of spiders and mosquitoes :-)

What a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Fantastic B&B you just HAVE TO book!! The tranquility, the nature and the cozy clean place was like a part of heaven. Anything you need is there, but really everything! The beds are lovely! And the fresh eggs from the chickens were well consumed by us. All in all,... a place to want to go back to.

APARTMENT: Fantastically beautiful view directly on Lake Jissel. Waking up in bed has never been more beautiful. Very quiet location, super nice hosts. Despite the advertised "dog apartment" very clean. AREA: A supermarket can be reached in 5-7 minutes on foot daily. A café is almost right outside the front door.

Very short but very comfortable stay, the accommodation and the fabulous location

We stayed at Lily‘s apartment over the weekend and we felt right at home. My first thought was: so beautiful! Damn, we’re only staying for 2 nights 😂 The ocean was so close 🌊 we could even see it from the couch, which was very cozy, and the apartment looked like in the photos. I’m definitely coming back! ♥️

Due to my husband's work, we stayed at Dennis and his family's place for 7 weeks, who live in the large part of the house. The place is very quietly located. For those who love it like we do, it's perfect. You only need a car or bike for weekly shopping as there are no shops in the village. The rooms are small and each has a dresser in it. The bathroom, on the other hand, is very spacious. You absolutely have to ventilate after every shower, otherwise it smells a bit peculiar. The kitchen and living room invite you to linger. Unfortunately, the garden was always very wet due to the weather, which is why we cannot report much about it. Behind the house there is a very nice playground and picnic areas. There are plenty of great walking trails. We made excursions to Groningen, Veemdam, Assen and even Amsterdam. We enjoyed it very much. Dennis and his family were incredibly nice!

The place was way better than the pictures. Super nice game space. Very large. The pool table was a hit. Everything you needed was there. Sauna is with plunge pool. Everything was neat. Nice extra that there were horses and could pet. Quiet area but with all the facilities you don't necessarily have to leave the cottage. We would recommend it or definitely come back.

The long weekend in the apartment overlooking the lake was beautiful. The apartment is freshly renovated and we were welcomed with drinks and some treats in the fridge. We were even allowed to borrow the canoe to ride it across the lake. Joke and her husband Martin help wherever they can. Thanks again for the wonderful stay!

Everything is great. Marcel and his wife help with everything, are very friendly and relaxed. We rented Marcel's electric boat and took a tour of the canals and lake. It was wonderful. Marcel briefed us well. Thanks!
