Monthly Rentals in Shimanto River

The location of the accommodation is very close to Shimatsukawa Houseboat.The host was enthusiastic about providing good places to eat nearby as well as a supermarket, which made it easy for me to get ingredients.

Located in a cottage near Shimanto River, very peaceful, no light around, you can stargaze when the weather is good Because in the countryside, there are more small insects when grilling outdoors at night Kitchen supplies and dining are fully stocked Need to pass a narrow sunken bridge before arriving at the house, special attention by car About 20 minutes from the nearby supermarket and the supermarket

We went to the place as a family of four, as we arrived very late, the place is in the woods and its abit dark and narrow, but with host’s instruction we still manage to find the way in. It’s a renovated old wooden house in the woods, it’s good to experience the old traditional Japanese style. And you can really feel the nature in the morning with singing birds around. Two things to note is the bathroom is separated from the main house and it’s abit not convenient. And highly recommend to arrive daytime so you can see the road clearly. But if you are a nature person, this is a good place to go and it’s also near the Shimanto city which you can do cycling along the river and enjoy the view.

Staying at Roseanne’s place was an absolute joy. Her beautiful house was immaculate and so aesthetically pleasing. Roseanne met us when we arrived, showed us round and offered lots of recommendations and local knowledge in addition to the list she sent before we checked in. We went to Nakatsu Gorge which was stunning as well as the Shimanto River. We went to a local restaurant called Yakiniku which had the best beef we’ve ever eaten and also took a drive to eat at Chika which was an incredible Izakaya place serving up many different delicious dishes including lots of local fish. The only problem with our time in Shimanto was we didn’t stay long enough! Such a beautiful part of Japan with some of the most friendly and welcoming people we’ve met on our trip. Roseanne’s place is the perfect base to explore and then return to and really relax as well. She is a lovely host, so friendly and generous with her time and knowledge of the locality. Highly recommend!
