The Oaks, Twyford Moors, South Downs National Park

There is WIFI and a large dining table to work at. There is a fully equipped kitchen. The bed is a Superking. The Oaks is annexed to our house, so we are available to answer any queries, give guidance on places to visit and dine and usually we will be available to show you the property in person. Twyford Moors is an area of outstanding natural beauty in the South Downs National Park. The River Itchen, a famous chalk stream, is close by. This is also Jane Austen country—visit her home at Chawton, and Winchester Cathedral, where she's buried. There are beautiful riverside walks including a 2hr walk into the heart of Winchester along the water meadows and by St Catherine's Hill. There are country pubs and excellent restaurants available locally and 15 mins drive away in Winchester There is parking for one car under cover in the car port but also room in the drive for a second vehicle . There are some beautiful walks along the River Itchen nearby. The outdoor terrace area to The Oaks is not enclosed and young children would need to be observed when outside. We have two, small friendly dogs that may visit your terraced area as it is not enclosed.

Its an easy 10 minute downhill stroll across the park (lovely for a sunset picnic) to historic Winchester.

Fantastic rural retreat! Gorgeous cosy space, very private with own secluded garden. Everything that you need for a relaxing break. Five miles from both Winchester and Romsey, a fifteen minute walk to the lovely village of Hursley with its two pubs and great walks! Perfect for IBM Hursley, Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park, the New Forest (25 minutes) and beaches (40 minutes). You can be in Southampton with cinemas, bowling, shopping etc in 20 minutes. A great exploring base!

The Annexe is a bright and airy self contained house separate from our home. The accomodation is over two floors with wonderful views out to the Hampshire countryside. We are on a quiet private country road 2 miles from the vibrant city of Winchester, 6 miles from Southampton Airport and 3 miles from IBM Hursley. Twyford is a great little village and the village shop is amazing: a combination of an Aladdin’s cave within a tardis! David also advised a visit to the Platform 1 cafe at Shawford station which was easily walkable, served good bacon butties (sorry - baps) and pastries and has an interesting history. A great place to relax outside in the sunshine. Had we visited when our children were small there would have been lots of places to visit e.g. Marwell Zoo and the science park on the edge of Winchester. We ate in a couple of the local restaurants which were very different but equally welcoming and both downhill on the way home :) David was always very responsive even though he was away on holiday. He helped us gain entry after I had mis-read the instructions and was also proactive is offering some extra time on our departure day. On this occasion we couldn’t take advantage but it was a nice gesture. The property is cosy and the beds comfy. We look forward to another visit. Sue and Bob

It was nice to meet the host for a friendly chat and smooth check in. I appreciated the dedicated parking space in front of the driveway, and it was lovely to have the upper floor (bar one unused room) all to myself, along with a separate private entrance.

A beautiful and stylish guest house with really thoughtful touches. Anna was very welcoming and I soon felt right at home. The house has been finished to a very high standard and is super comfortable. Great location too by the lovely open park and so close to Winchester and nearby villages.
