Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Shadyside, Pittsburgh

We had a great stay at Deena's AirBnb. We were in town for a family reunion in the neighborhood, and this location was incredibly convenient and comfortable. The listing and photos are all accurate, and the location provides easy access to both downtown Pittsburgh and the town of Bellevue for restaurants. We will definitely book here again when returning to the area.

Christine was very helpful with providing information about the stay, and went above and beyond in regards to communication. More AirBnB's (and their hosts) should be like this. Very clean. Very comfy. Perfect accommodations.

Jill’s place is one of the best Airbnbs I’ve stayed at — very spacious, very clean, and not far from anything you could want to do in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend.

We were in Pittsburgh for the Pirates baseball games. We had a great time staying at the house. The home was really fantastic. The location was excellent. It was very close to Butler Street and other places to eat and drink. The house was very comfortable. The kitchen was really well laid out and the coffee that was provided was a very nice touch. The bedrooms were all very nice and comfortable. The area was very quiet and we slept very well. There is a grocery store within a short walk of the house. Katherine and the other hosts were very responsive and always provided good guidance and instructions. The check-in process and the checkout process are very easy and straightforward. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back again for another set of baseball games or to visit the city.

Hosts and space were great. Brought three dogs with me, and the place had a fenced in yard with grass, couches already had dog covers, and there's a 5-acre, wooded, off-leash dog park (The Bark Park) less than a ten minute drive away. I had to make a last minute request of the host due to some poor planning on my part, and they were very gracious in accommodating me. Look forward to staying here again.

We had a lovely long weekend at Mary Beth's home. The house was so welcoming and comfortable. We loved the little TV room which was so cozy, or sinking into the plush sofa in the living room. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. We didn't cook any meals, but we definitely could have. The largest bedroom had a cute little office adjoining. Fortunately we did not have to work, but it would have been perfect for those moments when working from home needs to mesh with travel. This was one of the favorite places we have ever stayed, and we have stayed in many. It was spotless, the linens and beds were comfortable, even the pillows were good! I drag so much stuff with me when traveling, and I could have left most of it at home! The neighborhood was stunning, the architecture of Pittsburgh homes is so charming. I hope we can stay here again in the warmer weather to truly appreciate the neighborhood.

Such a cute place! Would stay here again. Came for a pirates game and sadly it rained quite a bit, so we didn’t get to use the patio space. It was within walking distance to PNC park and Heinz field as well as some cute bars and restaurants (we recommend Monterey’s) Very safe neighborhood with Ubers readily available. The only thing with this Airbnb are the stairs are quite steep, so some people with mobility issues may find the 3rd floor room with the king bed challenging. The bathroom also had a bit of an ant problem, but there were ant traps out for them. Other than they we very much enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again for events in the future!

David and Annette's place is always a lovely stay. It is convenient to Redstone where my Mom lives and close to my siblings. The home is clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. They are very helpful and accommodating.

Well worth the stay enjoy ourselves very close to plenty of places to shop eat and just view the surroundings all together would absolutely book again

This was a great place to stay and I would say the reality was better than the pictures. Very clean and great quality from the furniture to the towels. Nice neighborhood that felt safe and family friendly. So much better experience than a hotel- we hope to be back again and will for sure be the first place we check. David is top notch

Shadina was a fascinating host! The place was worth every penny and would definitely recommend it to anyone that would like a relaxing and “right at home” stay!

The apartment is in a beautiful building located in a popular neighborhood of Pittsburgh. It is spacious, has charm, and provided a comfortable stay. We could have not been more pleased with our choice as a first time travel to Pittsburgh. The parking in the back of the building was very convenient as well! There was even a view of the Cathedral of Learning tower in the distance which is apart of the University of Pittsburgh campus and 2nd tallest gothic-styled building in the world. It was a neat place!

Alex’s place was great. The location was perfect. It was a very walkable neighborhood but most of all it was a quiet neighborhood.

Jon’s place was a great find. His providing some basic staples for breakfast and snacks is a great touch. Way above expectations, especially when arriving close to midnight.

I traveled to Pittsburgh for a conference and, after careful consideration, chose Natalia’s place for our stay. From the very beginning, Natalia was a great communicator—she provided all the necessary details and clear check-in instructions well in advance. When we arrived, we noticed the apartment hadn’t been cleaned or prepared for our stay. We immediately reached out to Natalia, and she responded promptly and professionally. She acknowledged the issue, which was due to a last-minute calendar mix-up, and within minutes offered us an alternative apartment in the same building that was clean, ready, and comfortable. The rest of our stay in Pittsburgh was smooth and peaceful. The apartment was in a quiet neighborhood and well-connected by public transport—perfect for getting around the city with ease. Natalia handled the unexpected situation with grace and efficiency. She’s a true Superhost, and I would highly recommend her place to anyone visiting Pittsburgh!

Even though Anne & Jim’s place is absolutely in the city, I couldn’t believe how quiet it was once inside. It’s got rustic, vintage decor, is very clean and reminded me a little of being in a cabin, especially the wood paneled bedroom. There are many thoughtful amenities, more so than most Airbnb’s, and though I didn’t cook, it’s a well-equipped kitchen. There’s a ramp which may be helpful to those who have trouble with stairs; once inside it’s split level. I always found parking right in front—a major plus. Even in frigid weather it was cozy inside.

My daughter had to be in the Pittsburgh area for two weeks due to a school requirement. Michael met her there at check in, and made sure she had everything she needed. And, he graciously gave her a late check out since her flight didn’t leave until later in the evening. Everything went smoothly, and this mom was happy she was safe, and grateful for Michael and Michelle’s help.

We were comfortable and felt at home. Everything we needed was there, and the amenities were thoughtful and practical. Loved the city view at night.

Wonderful place located in a great area with lots to do! Lavaugh and Kristen were very responsive and provided very detailed instructions outlining everything I'd need to know about getting to the place, navigating around the apartment/area and checking out! Great experience, would highly recommend!

We have stayed here multiple times. I hope that tells everyone just how fantastic this home is. We just keep coming back for more! We highly recommend this home with great accommodations and an amazing view of Pittsburgh!

The condo is in walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and the strip.

My family and I had a lovely stay here over the holidays. Parking is easy, and it was easy to access the unit. Everything was clean and comfortable, and was very little noise from the street. The bathroom having a heated floor was a nice perk as well! Would stay here on another visit :) thank you to our hosts!

John's place was perfectly as described. Nice quiet neighborhood, and with good public transit access (which can be rare in Pittsburgh). I'd recommend to anyone coming to town for an event, but not necessarily being right downtown. The place was well set up for an extended stay as well, better equipped than most long term rentals I've used.

Super walkable area! Spacious for a downtown spot and the host was responsive and let us drop our bags early when our flight unexpectedly came in earlier than we planned which was very appreciated since we didn’t have to carry it all around the city!
