Kayaking around Departure Bay is easy as the kayaks are kept just above the high tide mark, grab life jackets and paddles from the yoga room and you’re good to go. Later you can relax in the hot tub , or send the kids down to play on the trampoline. All this 10 minutes from the shops and cafes of Nanaimo.

Five minute drive to Departure Bay ferry (or 15-20 min walk); 15 minute walk along beautiful seawall, (directly across the street and down the hill), to seaplanes and downtown, where you'll find shopping, the Nanaimo Art Gallery, Nanaimo Museum, The Port Theatre, Nanaimo Conference Centre, as well as several restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs. Welcome to pirate 8！You only need to take 10 minutes walk-on ferry to get to Protection Island from Nanaimo downtown. Immediately after landing on the Protection Island, you can see this beautiful house. We provide you with three bedrooms and four washrooms (including two bathrooms). Whether you are in the master bedroom or the living room , you can enjoy the wonderful ocean views. Or you can sit in the garden at the door, breathe the soft sea breeze, and listen to the sound of birds.

Tip: book multiple nights to save on cleaning, as it is charged once per booking.

South facing, sheltered from most of the wind, walk-on oceanfront in the city! Large deck, Solarium, Hot-tub, Kayaks and stunning views (Brandon Islands, Newcastle Island Provincial Park, Birds, Seals, Otters, Boats, Fisheries Canada docks). Swim, Paddle board, Kayak, Beach comb, Picnic or just relax - beside the salt water and a patch of old forest. Nanaimo is centrally located, permitting day trips to Vancover, Victoria and even Tofino. Luke (myself) reside in the suite.

The Bunkie - Nanaimo's forest retreat

'The Bunkie' is a private home tucked away at the foot of Mt. Benson, offering a comfortable place to escape from the stress of daily life. This 1350 sqft fully-furnished one-level home with wrap-around deck was built in 2017. The home is surrounded by 8 acres of quiet forest, and only steps away from a multitude of recreational trails. The Bunkie is ideally situated as a 'homebase' from which to explore all that beautiful Nanaimo, and Central Vancouver Island has to offer!

Cosy Suite Close to Ferry and NRGH

Clean, cozy and comfortable basement suite with private entrance/self check-in. A 5 minute drive from the Departure Bay ferry terminal. TV w/cable in the lounge, laundry and food prep area including microwave, toaster oven, induction hotplate, rice cooker and mini fridge. Tea/coffee, a few simple breakfast items provided. Traveling with more than 2? A second bedroom in the suite with a double bed will be made available for an extra fee. Approved pets are welcome too!

Old City Quarter Miners Cottage

Private small one bedroom miners cottage in quite downtown neighborhood. Close to many amenities, VIU & hospital. Easy walk to the seawall, shopping and many restaurants. The cottage is set in a lovely garden with seating under the gazeboor under the grape arbor. Both hosts John and Marc are artists and have a small show room on the property that we a happy to open if our guests have a desire to see more of our art. Sorry we are unable to accept same day guests.
