Sobenai has become a good friend, as this was my repeat visit to his place. His family is one of the most warm and welcoming one I have ever come across. Eagerly looking forward to my next getaway to Kalimpong and coming back here.
A person stands overlooking a vast mountainous landscape, with lush green valleys below. Snow-capped peaks are visible in the distance, reflecting sunlight under a clear blue sky. The individual is positioned with hands in a prayer pose, contributing to a sense of tranquility.

This is a beautiful serene place to stay with great coffee and great views of the Himalayas. Our accommodation was clean, private and secure. Sarah is a wonderful host and nothing is too much trouble. We highly recommend this place.

Kalimpong Village Retreat

SuryasarathiRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Kalimpong Village Retreat, tucked in Kalimpong's serene Iche village, is a hidden haven run by the warm and attentive Siddharth and Suprina. The retreat, reached by a gentle walk past paddy fields, is surrounded by colorful marigolds, azaleas, and a bountiful garden of bananas, avocados, turmeric, and more. Meals here are authentic and flavorful, made with locally sourced ingredients, from Sel Roti to tree tomato chutney—Nepali cuisine at its finest. Siddharth and Suprina's care, alongside their hardworking neighbor, Anita (“Bhauju”), makes every moment feel like home. Adding charm is Brownie, their lovable dog, who becomes an instant friend. Siddharth’s close-knit community ties ensure all needs are met, from evening transport to local recommendations, despite the secluded setting. For anyone seeking an escape from city life, Kalimpong Village Retreat offers a soulful, peaceful stay with heartfelt hospitality. I left rejuvenated, grateful, and eager to return to this special place.

Flavours of Tea - Sarika Homestay

VivienRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reach the place because I was in gangtok and didn’t know that the last taxi to her place stopped at 2pm. But Sarika was very helpful and really nice. She tried her best to help me. I’m sure she would be a great host.

Shantiniwas homestay

YaagneshwaranRating, 5 stars29 months ago
Amazing home and homestay experience in an offbeat location away from the hustle and bustle of the city (about an hour from Gangtok). If you're a nature aficionado, who wants to do non-touristy things and truly soak in the Sikkim experience -- ShantiNiwas, the home and the host family is the one for you. The hosts truly love having people in their home. As long as you're staying with them, you're one in the family. I and my friend wanted to work at a place that was close to the mountains and surrounded by nature. They have an amazing gazebo facing the mountains where wifi is also great. During non-work times, we had the opportunity to visit their farms, walk uphill around the water streams (which encourages you to do morning and evening walks) The food -- out of the world. I being from Chennai, I desired a deep soaked Sikkimese Nepali experience, and boy oh boy -- every single day there are amazing dishes. Supriya and family are Akshayapatra (meaning: a gift that keeps on giving). And they do it from the heart. If you're even remotely considering a homestay in Sikkim -- HIGHLY and TRULY recommend you to stay at the ShantiNiwas. To sum up, my words don't do enough justice -- they're simply amazing! Everyone must experience staying with Supriya's family at least once.
