Situated on a quiet country road between the historic villages of Cong and Clonbur and the world renowned lakes of Corrib and Mask the barn provides an ideal base for anyone wishing to explore the many delights of the Connemara region. Within minutes of the Barn are the historic villages of Cong and Clonbur. Cong boasts may tourist attractions including Ashford Castle and Cong Abbey and was the filming location for John Ford's 1952 Oscar-winning film, The Quiet Man, featuring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald. Much of the movie was filmed on the grounds of Ashford Castle. The town and castle area has changed very little since 1952, and Cong's connection with the movie makes it a tourist attraction. The surrounding area is a walker’s paradise with many tracks and trails through woods, over mountains and along the lakes shores. We have 2 mountain bikes available to hire if cycling is more your thing. Lough Corrib and Lough Mask are considered among the elite wild brown trout lakes in Europe with Corrib also providing some exciting Salmon fishing. Philip the owner is an experienced gillie and fishing on both lakes can be arranged. Activities locally include: Fishing/Walking/Cycling/Corrib Cruise/Golf/Pony Trekking/Falconry Cong and Clonbur: 3kms Shops/Pubs/Restaurants: 3kms

  • Philip, Patricia, their kids and their dogs were perfect hosts. The stone barn is very well equipped and comfortable. During the winter the fire place is heating up the space and Philip is there to assist, whenever needed. The sorroundings are beautiful, especially to explore Connemara. Cong is 5 kilometers Away and welcomes you with nice Cafés.

The home is quite modern and extremely clean and inviting. The room and ensuite where impeccable in comfort and amenities. The conversation was like that with an old friend you've been waiting years to meet. Top notch! Many thanks Marie and Sean. Julie and Scott from Canada

  • Willie's place was a like a home from home. Absolutely beautiful space - an inspiring and creative sanctuary where you could write, take time out, be creative. Truly inspiring. The music memorabilia and decor were amazing and the place had a truly lovely atmosphere with a Feng Shui vibe. Felt like a lot of thought had gone in to creating it. I think any musicians/artists/writers etc. would find this a wonderful retreat. Very privileged to have been the first guests. It was a lovely space to be able to escape from the reality of the current times we are in, in a safe way. Electronic weighted keyboard, wifi and chromecast were brilliant to have and meant could watch films, keep up with current affairs if chose to do so. Beautifully furnished and everything was sparkling and brand new. The bed was sooo comfortable. The seats were cool too although didn't really make use of them on this occasion apart from the couch. Cooking facilities were excellent and even had a coffee machine which for me was an added bonus. Unfortunately the pub was closed due to the current times but imagine this would be amazing for any music lovers and there was a pizza place downstairs which also did coffee. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Willie was a wonderful and very pleasant host who got back promptly to any queries and had a guide to what might be on in the area which was very helpful. Ventured to Ashford Castle for lovely walks around the grounds. Would 100% recommend here. Thanks for an amazing stay!

Town house in the centre of Ballinrobe, with private parking and close to all amenities. This is the ideal location to base yourself if you intend touring in the West of Ireland-from Connemara to Killala, from Ballintubber to Balla. It is also near the Wild Atlantic Way, and the Greenway. You will get a great welcome and you will have free access to the sitting room to relax and to the kitchen should you want to cook. I will suggest scenic routes to take to tour or cultural events happening.
The house is centrally located in the town-just across from Flannery's Tavern. It is surrounded by other take out and sit-in restaurants and shops. Cong, with its famous Abbey and Ashford Castle, is 10k away and is a great spot for lovely wooded walks. Knock Airport is about 70km away.
A quiet area, though located right in this historic town, you will be able to walk all around the town. Ballinrobe is a small town, with loads of sites of interest-the old Workhouse, the Military Barracks, a number of mills, a lovely river walk called The Bowers, many sports grounds and a Leisure Centre. Children usually love the great playground in the Green. Ballinrobe is near the Gaeltacht areas of Tourmakeady and Cornamóna, providing it with a rich cultural flavour.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saras! The room is very nice, warm and sparkling clean and the bed is very comfortable! Sara is an exceptional host with great local knowledge! She very kindly let us use the kitchen as well. We totally recommend to stay at hers.

  • Sara is a fantastic host. I arrived in late at night and she had a hot water bottle in the bed, the night stand on and a little note to tell me to make myself at home. She was very helpful and made my stay very easy. Thanks Sara!

  • Sara is an amazing host and we had the best time with her. In the room and kitchen you can find everything you need. She is very generous and gave us great tips what we could visit or do. We had very nice talks and she even gave us a lift to a gorgeous place not too far from her home. We will miss staying with her and hope to come back.

    Lou2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space and outstanding location but all of this is capped by a most wonderful host who will put you at your ease right away. Sara is fantastic, very warm. Thoughtful & welcoming. The house is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. This was a special stay. I can’t wait to return.

    FeeneyMatt2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a very welcoming person, her house is perfect, we could cook without problem. Sara had booked us a shelf in her fridge and another in her closet. She did everything to make us feel comfortable on vacation. She even shared with us her birthday cake. Even if she does not speak French and we do not English, we managed to exchange with help google translation and a notebook and pencil. Sara will remain for us the best host we have had in Ireland (out of 5).

  • The view, the lake, the countryside, the quietness... wonderful place for holidays! Lila was really kind with us: she let us everything for our first breakfast, put the heater on, let us some wood for a fire... good beds, very comfortable duvets, silence: we had really good nights!! Thanks Lila, we will remember for a long time this wonderful view on the lake on early morning...

  • The house is warm and the location completely "amazing" as the English speakers say. It feels soothed and relaxed !!

    Jessica2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location next to the lighthouse with great views onto the lake. Lila was always available for questions and gave us a warm personal welcome with valuable tips on holiday activities. Ideal for families with adventurous kids, who don't need a city in walking distance.

    Stefan2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I've traveled all over the world and this was one of the most serene, beautiful places I've ever been. There was Lough Corrib, more like a sea than a lake, just out the front wall-sized window, sometimes ferocious, sometimes calm. Every now and then a small fishing boat passed by. When the wind wasn't high, you could sit in the Adirondack chairs on the front lawn and read or stare at the mountains in the distance. The little lighthouse anchored it all. Inside, the house is simple but comfortable. The wood-burning stove is a nice touch. It's a bit of a drive from anywhere, but that's part of the charm. Lila was always easy to reach. In short, our stay here helped us love Ireland.

    Mary2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The boat house is in a beautiful, peaceful setting, over looking Lough Corrib and the lighthouse. Perfect for exploring Connemara National Park, Kylemore Gardens, Galway and Cong. It was lovely to meet Lila and I really appreciated the emergency non-feather duvet! The soda bread was delicious and we’re now hooked!

    Zarnie2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the lake and nature! Fire place and fully equipped kitchen with plenty of room for the three of us.

    Jennifer2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • The view of the lake is absolutely stunning as well as the lighthouse out the main bedroom window. The house is nice and spacious and the kitchen has everything one needs.

    Shelley2019-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Although Lila wasn't there to meet us, her daughter warmly welcomed us and made sure we were comfortable and settled after a long journey. The house is very clean and has a well equipped kitchen and wonderful stove fire. We were lucky to stay in this beautiful, peaceful house. This was one of our favourite Airbnb experiences!

  • Convenient little hostel. Only stayed here one night and ended up getting the room to myself since it was off season. I didn’t realize that they had a bnb also across the road, which I definitely would’ve rather stayed in (I love bnbs). Gerry and Margaret were really kind and welcoming. I didn’t realize I had breakfast included until the next morning when I went to check out, so it was a nice surprise.

  • Nuala is a really exceptional host, good spirited and always ready to help with the advice. I like her because she's not clingy at all and she's also good looking ;)

  • Nuala was very accommodating. We asked for an early check-in which she facilitated and turned the heating on for us at this earlier time. The room was spacious and clean. It's a lovely house in a nice quiet area near Ballinrobe and walking distance to a picturesque lake.

  • Nuala is a great host! For the few hours we stayed in her house (ahaha), it was very comfortable and clean. She prepared the breakfast for us and some homemade scones, very delicious by the way! We absolutely recommend.

  • I recommend this place to ANYONE WHO IS STAYING near Galway.!! Innitially my boyfriend and I were going to just pass by Galway and go straight to Northern Ireland but our hotel there LAST MINUTE said that we could not check in late! (with super rude manners may I add) We were basically without a place to stay in the freezing cold and driving around in thick fog! Thank gosh for Nuala and her beautiful home near the city! The place was cozy, clean and super accommidating. Thank you for much Nuala for saving our butts and answering on such late notice on a late winter night! She was so quick to respond and the check in process was so easy. Again, I reccomend this place to anyone who is passing by Galway and wants to experience a true AirBNB superhost. Truly lives up to it. <3 Love Viv & Ken

  • We lived staying in this little house! Perfect for just my husband and myself. We walked out to the lighthouse at night and were really lucky to have a clear night and got to see a bunch of stars! Hello Milky Way!! In the morning we explored the Ballycurrin Castle and walked the little loop they made by the lake! So fun!

The location was great , perfect for exploring wonderful villages, towns and even Galway...if you care to drive in that crazy traffic!

  • We spent a great moment in the cottage and appreciate the history story of these place. We walked To the lighter and have a nice moment with the sunset. Ballycurrin is a smart place. And Gabrielle is a nice person who explain everything. Marie

  • This is a 17th century cottage that is off the beaten path. Just perfect for us! Small, cozy sitting room with fireplace and a spiral staircase to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. There’s an ancient lighthouse to explore nearby and a castle ruin on the property that are both excellent for pictures! Gabrielle gave a great suggestion for dinner at the Anglers Rest. Just absolutely beautiful setting! Thanks for hosting us.

Here in Kilconly, Co Galway, we offer our beautifully restored 17th century Cottage, ideal for a romantic retreat for two or somewhere for the whole family to enjoy an exciting Irish adventure! Healy's cottage consists of 1 bedroom, with one double and one single bed, living area and kitchen.
  • Beautiful Irish cottage with all modern comforts. Very pretty garden. Need to be aware that cottage is quite remote and can be difficult to find - particularly in the dark!

    Lyn2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Healy’s Cottage is like stepping back in time with all the amenities and comforts. It is immaculately looked after. It is very quiet with a few sheep that live next door! We needed some directions and the neighbors we met were beyond helpful. It is out in the country but everyone knew where Healy’s Cottage was so we never felt lost. Our hostess Sally was there when we arrived with a warm fire in the wood stove. All of her instructions were clear regarding how things worked. I can’t wait to visit again! A true Irish experience! Thank you sally !!!

Welcome to the Wild Atlantic Bus my name is Richard and I have transformed this 28 year old double decker bus after its life’s work transporting people around England and Ireland into a unique holiday and accommodation experience…..the bus is based in the heart of nature and near my country cottage and only a 5 minute walk down a country lane to the famous Lough Corrib one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe…..
The Wild Atlantic bus is located on the outskirts of Oughterard Co Galway…Oughterard has been well known for years as the gateway to Connemara which forms a major part of the Wild Atlantic Way which is the biggest coastal route in Europe. The bus accommodates 6 comfortably with 3 double beds 2 of which can be twin beds or simply use as a single...A lovely wood burning stove to cosy up to, A full kitchen and wet room.....Outside there is a beautiful fire pit, A luxurious outdoor shower with exceptional views over the surrounding landscape, so as you shower your senses will be awakened and you will be ready for your day, a little cabin to accommodate all your coats, boots etc after your walk or your day out….the Wild Atlantic Bus is the perfect retreat for exploring the magical landscape that Connemara has to offer.....Not many have stayed on a converted bus of such luxury, so why not escape the traditional yourself and witness something that will leave a lasting memory, and put a smile on your face....ALL ABOARD
The Wild Atlantic Bus is set in the countryside near the town of Oughterard, steps from the shores of Lough Corrib, one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe. There are quaint shops, supermarkets, traditional pubs, and restaurants in town.
  • After an incredible stay on the Wild Atlantic Bus, we simply echo the sentiments of all Richard's previous guests. The pictures, while pretty great, do not do justice to the bus. Richard has skillfully and cleverly created a luxurious space while staying true to the original essence and integrity of the vehicle. Richard greeted us with some of Helen's scones and a warm fire and as a host, went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable. The bus, with its location and glorious afternoon sun, is definitely best experienced in person. Cannot recommend this listing enough

    Obada2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I feel like I could write a 5-paragraph essay on Richard's lovely hospitality alone -- e.g., I was traveling alone and he invited me to the main house for some whiskey... that is after I arrived and he already had a fire going -- I also feel like no matter what I write it wouldn't even come close to doing The Bus justice... so I will leave potential visitors with this: After spending two nights in Richard's bus I have begun looking for property in this town (i.e., I absolutely fell in love with everything about it). This was hands down the most unique and relaxing stay I have ever had in my AirBnB life and 75% of that is due to Richard's awesomeness (the bus ain't too bad either :). Thanks, Richard, for creating a little slice of heaven for the rest of us to enjoy!

    Jonathan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible weekend in the Wild Atlantic Bus, not even storm Dennis could dampen the spirits of this unique stay. Incredible location to visit many of the local attractions and the bus created its own vibe while the storm lashed in the evening. Looking forward to a summer trip to take advantage of the amazing outdoor features. Richard was the perfect host, there on arrival and timely checking to ensure we had everything we needed.

    Craig2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I wanted to visit the glengowla mines for our anniversary and came across the wild Atlantic bus as an option for accommodation. When we arrived we realised that the mines were closed but that wasn’t an issue at all since the Wild Atlantic bus turned into the main attraction itself from the second we got there. Richard and his wife have created the most magical place, from the home baked fresh bread to the outdoor shower(with hot water), everything was perfect. It was snowing when we arrived but inside the bus was so cosy and warm with the fire, hot water bottles and the softest blankets ever. Richard was so helpful, giving us so many things to do (which we didn’t as the bus was so incredible we wanted to spend all our time at the bus). There was even two bath robes with The Wild Atlantic bus logo embroidered on them, so adorable! Inside the bus was everything we needed for the trip. The attention to detail is insane, but you need to see that for yourself. From having read the reviews my expectations were high, however after having experienced the wild Atlantic bus I can say with 100% certainty that my expectations were exceeded greatly. We had the most unforgettable, special anniversary, thank you so much! Hopefully we’ll see you again when the weather is warmer.

    Karan2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was the best host we had while in Ireland. Incredibly hospital and so considerate to ensure a comfortable stay. Anyone who stays at the Wild Atlantic Bus will not be disappointed but will enjoy and unforgettable experience. Be sure to ask Richard of local things to see, he can offer some great insight. Till next time Richard!

    Kenna2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in Connemara. Richard did a fantastic job converting this double decker into an Airbnb. Especially nice for families with younger children, they will have the time of their live! Highly recommended!

  • Excellent stay Bus full of charm Unusual place Many little touches Everything was perfect

    Florence2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional stay in an exceptional setting, with the delicate attentions of Richard. With the sun or the rain at the gates of Connemara this trip immobile in this very comfortable bus has made us know an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Richard for his attentions, his kindness and his availability. Address and experience to recommend. Perfect for parents and children alike.

  • If you choose to stay at Annaghkeen Cottage, you will get a quiet place to sleep and rest with amazing views and close proximity to all the Galway and its environs has to offer. The cottage was warm and cozy with great supply of hot water and privacy yet help if we needed it with anything, including use of the laundry room, which we were very thankful for

    Maureen2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and Theresa were super friendly and incredibly welcoming. There were so many special touches - the tea and home made scones (and cream) that were waiting for us on arrival, the wood burning stove already lit. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is sparklingly clean. One of my favourite things was the laundry room where the washing machine and tumble dryer are at your disposal - washing powder is even provided! Set in the grounds of a beautiful old farmhouse this little cottage is a feast for the eye in contrast to the usual Irish bungalow. We brought our little dog who quickly made friends with the one in the next cottage. We took him for walks down to the lovely lake just a few yards down the road where there are ducks, fishing boats and a ruined castle. Galway City was a 40 minute drive away with all its restaurants, pubs and amazing shops selling local arts and crafts and produce. The main street is a pedestrianised haven of buskers and street food where you can sit outside the pub and enjoy a proper pint of Guinness. Theresa is a qualified tour guide and was able to point us towards all the local attractions and share her knowledge with us. We shall be booking again this Summer to explore the beautiful beaches in Roundstone and Clifden - can't wait!

    Miranda2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is set in one of the prettiest places in Ireland. Just down the lane is a lake and the ruin of a 14th century castle. The cottage itself is comfortable and the hosts add extra touches, like a vase of flowers and a welcoming afternoon tea, to make the stay more enjoyable.

    Elizabeth2019-07-16T00:00:00Z

  • We just had a fantastic few days at the cottage. Yes they maybe out of the way but they are perfect for peace & tranquility. Teresa & David are fabulous hosts & the welcome basket was extremely thoughtful, it included little chocolate Easter eggs for us & treats for our fur-baby. The cottage itself has been modernised fantastically & everything was provided. Would highly recommend. Thanks Teresa & David

  • My Daughter and I had a very relaxing stay in Headford. As advertised, there is a shared bathroom. It is HUGE and very modern and the shower is amazing! We were the only guests on the first floor so we didn’t even have to share. The room was much larger than I expected with a sink for brushing our teeth in case another guest was in the bathroom. Fenella provided a nice continental breakfast and access to the kitchen. We took the time to stop at Moyne Castle, just down the road, and Ross Errily Friary, just a little further down the road. Both were very cool stops! This was one of my better AirBnB stays- I would highly recommend!!

Away from the hustle and bustle of city life Cottage Kille Abbey is the ideal place to wind down and appreciate the natural surroundings. This 200 year old stone cottage is set in half acre of mature garden surrounded by trees. It is the perfect spot for a romantic get away or to just chill out and relax. It is ideally situated to tour all the amenities of the west of Ireland. An area of 80 Sq Mtrs comprises 2 double bedrooms a bathroom with shower toilet and wash basin upstairs. A sunny sitting room with TV and DVD player is also located upstairs. Downstairs there is an open plan dining and well equipped kitchen area complete with dish washer gas cooker with oven and fridge. There is a wood burning stove which runs the central heating. A quirky home from home
Cottage Kille Abbey is situated 3 kms from the local village of Shrule which has a well stocked local store supplying locally produced foodstuffs and a delicatessen. The cottage has expansive views across the surrounding verdant countryside and it is within easy reach of local beauty spots such as Cong village and Lough Corrib. As I feed the birds throughout the year there is ever-present chorus of birdsong emanating from the surrounding tress. A very tranquil contemplative spot in which to sit and relax.
Shrule village has a very well stocked local supermarket, Mullins, an excellent butcher specialising in locally produced meat, three pubs and a visiting fish monger on a Wednesday morning. Headford, only ten minutes drive has an excellent supermarket, Joyce's, several take aways, a hotel which serves evening meals and a few pubs. Ballinrobe which is also about ten minutes drive is a town with several large supermarkets like Tesco and Aldi.

  • Thank you so much for a lovely stay in your cottage. We loved the rustic style, the comfortable details such as fire waiting for us in the wood stove and pre-warmed beds as well as the delicious home made bread ! Your place is perfectly clean and has everything we needed and your advice on where to go and how to get there was just what we needed. It was a short but delightful stay and next time we'll stay longer!

  • This lovely cottage is perfectly located to discover the beautiful landscape of Connemara and visit Galway Town. The cottage is really cozy and makes you feel home from the first second. Breda is the perfect host. She made us fresh selfmade bread and when we were out as storm Lorenzo hit Ireland she contacted us to make sure that we're safe and back at the cottage in time. We have really enjoyed our time here and are looking forward to visit Cottage Kille Abby again in the near future! Thank you Breda!

  • We absolutely loved staying in this accommodation! Such a special place and Breda and her husband were super nice! Breda had some great tips for us, so we changed our actual plans and were very happy we did so. They even made us fresh bread! When we will visit Ireland again, we will definitely stay here again!

  • Very nice Apartment in a quiet area - ideal for 2 persons visiting Cong and surroundings. Ann and her husband offered great hospitality !

    Holger2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely a perfect getaway! Quiet, hidden from the road and so peaceful. Our stay was in the apartment which seems to be very new. Internet is spotty as is cell service, one trade off of the rural setting. Amazed to wake up to cows & sheep out our bedroom window! Be sure to bring coffee, tea, sugar, shampoo, soap and euro coins (for the electric meter). None were provided. Central location for all sights on the wild Atlantic West!

Perfect parking right off the street. Heat was on upon our arrival & the little snacks were a nice touch. Clean linens & beds very comfortable. It was practically home from home. There isnt enough good things to say about it. Definitely stay here again. Thanks Julie, was perfect

  • If your looking for comfortable, stylist, spacious accommodation in Cong, Co. Mayo ... this is it. We were staying in the area for a wedding and feel so lucky to have found Friars rest. Located right in the village. Spacious ensuite rooms, kitchen/lounge and even a seated patio area. Fantastic! Julie is a brilliant host, easy to communicate with , super responsive. Will definitely return.

  • This is a wonderful property. It's right in the centre of Cong with all the local shops, pubs and local sightseeing viewpoints on the doorstep. Recommend Puddleducks Cafe for breakfasts/ drinks to go and we tried three of the local pubs and had good meals at them all (each has their charm/ style!). It's only an hours drive to the coast and wonderful scenery on route and local walks to enjoy the outdoors. Julie is so quick to respond and helpful I'd recommend staying here to anyone.

Ballycurrin House is located in the grounds of the 12th century Ballycurrin Castle. This fine Georgian House is on the shores of Lough Corrib, set in four acres of beautiful woodland and gardens. The lake and Ireland's only onshore lighthouse is less than a minute walk from the house. It is possible to rent the whole house, if interested please see the separate listing on Airbnb.
Ballycurrin House is located on the shores of Lough Corrib a few minutes drive from Headford, Co Galway. This Georgian property dates from the 1760's and was built on the grounds of the 12th century Ballycurrin Castle. The ruin of the castle is just behind the house. Ballycurrin was extensively restored and renovated a few years ago. It's a two story over basement house. The large and well equipped kitchen is in the basement. On the 1st floor is the the impressive hallway with access to the dining and living rooms. On the 2nd floor are three bedrooms, all ensuite. The very large master bedroom has views of Lough Corrib. Both the double and twin rooms have ensuite bathrooms. There is plenty of space for parking and there are lots of green spaces to sit out and enjoy the view in the peaceful surroundings of the Galway countryside. There is plenty to do and see here. Ireland's only onshore lighthouse, Ballycurrin Lighthouse, is a few meters walk from the house and swimming is possible in the lake. The historic town of Cong is 20 minutes drive away and the very famous Ashford Castle is nearby. Ballycurrin House is a wonderful place to base your holiday as Connemara is easily visited by car as is Co Mayo. Fishing is possible at Lough Corrib and there are boats to rent if you so wish.
Headford is a typical small Irish market town with a number of shops, cafes and pubs where food is served. Ashford Castle is nearby. There is a supermarket in the town and a mart if you fancy checking out the buying and selling of cattle/sheep. Galway City is 20-30 minutes away (depending on traffic) and is easily accessible from Headford. Lough Corrib is well-renowned for fishing and there is also golfing and horseriding nearby. The famous annual Galway Races are held in July and the racecourse is approximately a 20 minute drive away.

Breakfast in the garden in the summer must be fantastic, and so were the evenings by the fireplace. Finola was a perfect host, quick communication and great tips.

The furniture in the house is so beautiful and sturdy, so no fear of things toppling on a very busy boy. The back garden with swing was an excellent addition for letting a toddler run free. The hosts were lovely and friendly and the house is very clean and well presented. We will definitely be back again.

  • This is the nicest Air bnb we have stayed in. Julie is a lovely, gracious host and has created a very special haven for visitors to Cong. The loft is beautifully decorated with many thoughtful touches from bathrobes to slippers, luxurious bed linen and fluffy large towels. We were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine and other treats. Truly a five star experience. The location is perfect, don’t miss having a croissant and coffee at Butler & Byrne, and a delicious meal at Lydons. Thank you Julie for a wonderful experience, we hope to be back!

  • I have only one concern regarding the space; which is the horribly sad possibility that it will be booked the next time I visit the area. I can’t say enough good things about the loft, the hostess and my lovely experience staying there. I consider anyone with a reservation to stay in the loft truly lucky and in for such a treat. Places and hostesses such as these are what make the unfortunate bad actors and homes of Airbnb worth putting up with. I honestly thought I would regret opting out of the glamorous Ashford Castle, but it ended up being one of the best decisions I made during my trip. This is such a true gem of an Airbnb that I would actually plan my next trip’s dates around the availability of the listing. I cannot recommend it highly enough and suggest to anyone and everyone to stay for several days if possible as there are so many places in Mayo, Galway and Connemara one can easily make day trips to.

  • We love Cong and visit at least once a year. This is our first time using AirBnB for our stay here though and we were not disappointed. This is a lovely flat in a fantastic location. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend to others.

  • We had an excellent two night stay. Apartment was easy to find and easy to access. Smack in the middle of Cong, next to the Abbey and Forest. Julie was very accessible through texts and I can absolutely recommend this apartment.

  • 5 *** Stunning accommodation in an artisan village. Julie provided absolutely everything you could possibly imagine in a stylish, intimate setting. I’m sure the bedrooms are as well equipped as those in Ashford Castle - gorgeous quality towels / robes & super comfy beds. It was an extra treat to have Netflix and lounge on the couch on wet evenings. All enhanced by soft lighting and an efficient heating system. We stayed for 7 nights and were sad to leave. The apartment is directly situated over a wonderful cafe, stocked with Irish produce and freshly baked breads. Julie recommended Lydon’s pub which serves excellent meals, it’s about 2 mins walk away. Great chat with the local butcher who also provides cooked meals and stocks organic fare including the best carrots ever. CONG is an interesting village which includes an Abbey and fabulous walks for all levels. Although the location is ideal for visiting Kylemore Abbey and other tourist attractions, you might just prefer to hang around the area and chill in this beautiful apartment.

  • Joyce was very welcoming and made it easy to find this remote castle. The property was beautiful and definitely worth a visit if you’re near the area. It is also a great place to disconnect from technology!

  • Joyce was away when we stayed, but her husband had the fireplace burning when we arrived and we were greeted by Chai, our most charming host. We got tips for where to grab a late night bite. The fresh pumpkin loaf and eggs were a great start to our day. The grounds were stunning, only sorry we didn't have longer to explore.

  • Joyce and Denis open up their wonderful home and make you feel right at home. The apartment was spotless and lovely extras such as honey and homemade bread. The house is outstanding with peaceful and calm atmosphere. We made full use of the yoga studio library and reception rooms - thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • I was fully expecting a somewhat awkward experience/interaction with other guests and our hosts. I was entirely mistaken. This was the most warm and comfortable stay we could have asked for. We had spectacular views, rich history, perfect location, tons of area for hiking and enough space we didn’t feel intruded on. This was the first time in our trip we felt as though we were on vacation and not just traveling. You could not ask for more from your hosts, we only interacted with Joyce but she is just a ball of good energy, and an amazing chef(thanks for the amazing omelets and fried eggs and bacon). The check in process was a breeze and she was totally flexible on arrival time when we let her know we were running behind. If you are debating on booking this, just book it. The guests we met were fabulous and the hosts were amazing as well. Would definitely recommend

  • What a perfect base from which to explore all that the wonderful Wild West has to offer. We absolutely loved our stay here. The cottage contains all you need for a cosy and comfortable stay in tranquil countryside just a short, scenic drive from Headford town. David and Theresa have so thoughtfully converted these cottages from an old stable block, they are peaceful and private and so, so picturesque. Theresa's welcome is warm and friendly, and she is full of great tips and information to help you enjoy your stay. We arrived to delicious homecooked scones and jam washed down with a strong brew - an unexpected and most welcome treat. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be recommending to friends and family.

  • Great stay! We arrived late, but it was no problem at all. We were welcomed with fresh baked goodies, these went down very well. A short walk away is a beautiful lake where you can feed the ducks. Perfect spot to kick back and relax.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at David and Teresa’s accommodation. The place was spotless and very well equipped. Teresa and David are helpful, communicative hosts. We were greeted personally by Teresa at check-in despite it being 10pm at night! She even had delicious home baked scones waiting for us. The location of the cottage is ideal- short drive to Galway city, and near other quaint villages such as Cong, and the Connemara region. Thank you for hosting us!

  • Dave and Theresa were excellent hosts. So hospitable and thoughtful. The muffins were a great touch too and my son really enjoyed having the sheep close by. Dave and Theresa were also very helpful and friendly and made us feel very comfortable and welcome at all times. The accommodation was warm, cosey and homely.

  • Beautifcially decorated and perfectly located apartment. Philip was a great friendly host who gave us plenty of tips and was very easy to deal with from the start to the end of our stay. Facilities in the apartment are great, high quality furnishings which made for a very comfortable stay. It is perfectly located with a lovely cafe a few doors down and a minutes walk from the pubs/restaurants. We had a great weekend and can not recommend this apartment enough! Thanks for everything... Hope to come back again!
