Renovated 1928 cottage on a former asylum campus

Into the macabre? Stay on the campus of what once was the largest mental asylum in the world. Stay in a fully renovated craftsman, 1920's cottage situated on the corner of a large pecan grove, across from the Central State Hospital infirmary. Walking, driving or trolly tours are available to learn all about the history of one of the nation's oldest and largest institutions for the mentally ill. Note: Buildings are closed to the public. There are no tours inside buildings.

Harts Ford Farmhouse is quaint, peaceful and roomy. It's surrounded by farmland in the heart of Middle Georgia. The house was built in 1900 and has been in our family for 4 generations. Guest can enjoy the many amenities including use of full house, outdoor fire pit, lounge chairs, outdoor grill, outdoor dining area, large yard for parking. It's family friendly for playing games, walking, and peaceful large front porch with rockers to star gaze into the night sky.

Our tiny cabin is on a secluded, wooded 20 acre homestead in a very rural area. It's a quiet place where everyone is welcome. There is almost no light pollution here; on a clear night you'll have an amazing view of the stars. The cabin has internet and a smart TV. We're one mile from downtown Irwinton's gas station, local diner, small local market, and Dollar General. Dublin, Macon, Milledgeville, I-75 and I-16 are all about a 30 minute easy drive with little traffic.

Want to escape from the city and all the hustle and bustle? Our little town is rural, charming and quaint. A perfect retreat for peace and quiet! Sit around a campfire, toast marshmallows, or just see the stars that fill our skies each night. We were featured on HGTV House Hunters, on 10 acres in the country with horses and donkeys. Loft above a bustling small town hardware store. The Shannon Building was built as a warehouse in 1920. Then converted into offices upstairs and furniture store downstairs in the 1940's. This one of a kind loft apartment is renovated from the 1950's lawyer's office of JD Shannon.
