This place is beautiful. If you’re lucky enough to get snow whilst there, then it transforms into something other worldly. Daigo was so helpful and a great communicator. Collecting us to and from the station and recommending loads of local tips. Super host.

Daigo’s tiny home is just what you would expect. Tucked away in the countryside, your time spent here is as relaxing as it can be. Daigo has created a beautiful, warm home and his hospitality is 5-star. We were picked up and dropped off to the nearby station and Daigo showed us around his village before dropping us at the cabin. We would 100% recommend a trip out to Ohinata.

From start to finish Daigo’s Air Bnb experience was incredible. Daigo picked us up from the local train station and dropped us at The Tiny House. The couple and the baby spent two nights withdrawing slowly. Although it was a cold season in early February, the room was warmed by the fireplace and cooked while listening to crackling sounds. Many of these reviews said this was their favorite place they stayed in Japan and we couldn’t agree more. In fact, this was one of our favorite nights we’ve ever spent together. The house is so well thought out and feels so comfortable. It was truly one of the most beautiful houses we’ve ever been in!

When you arrive, is your neighbor nearby? I thought, As time goes on, I do n’t mind that at all, In every corner of the room, you can feel Daigo's carelessness, I was satisfied with the very comfortable space.

We absolutely loved staying here, it was magical! It was a great getaway out of the city, into the middle of the forest. The architecture and interior design of the cabin is amazing and we loved sitting by the log fire in the hammock. The cabin is about an hour drive to the main attractions in Karuizawa, but it is a great drive past/through little towns on the way! We can’t wait to come back again :)

We had an all-out fantastic stay at Daigo's place. 3 nights out in the wilderness at this great lodge was a treat after 3 nights in Tokyo. Loved every moment of it. Getting here was not too difficult. We caught the Shinkansen to Saku-Daira, rented a car (~14,000 yen) and took a 30 minutes drive to Daigo's place in the town of Sakuho. The lodge was built with such class and craftmanship. We appreciated every corner, admiring the materials and thought that went into it. The fireplace, electric heater, chairs, hammock, kitchen (well-equipped for your cooking needs), drip coffee, tea, so on and so forth. Being out there in the forestry and hearing the streams and enjoying brief periods of snowfall couldn't have been better. Daigo will recommend plenty of local places for you to try so do check them out. The supermarket Tsuraya in Sakuho was just wonderful. We did short hikes and just observed the local livelihoods. 3 days and 3 nights was just about right for us to unwind and soak in the slow life. While Karuizawa was not in our immediate plans, we took a one hour drive there just to see how it was like. Thank you Daigo!

This was certainly the most amazing stay in any airbnb I’ve experienced yet. What taste and charm. Daigo is a wonderfully attentive host and keen-eyed decorator. Trust us, this is a must.

We stayed in midsummer. Although there is no air conditioner, a fan is installed and it was Nagano, so I could spend more comfortably than the night in Tokyo. Moreover, I think that it is good for those who want to enjoy such an atmosphere with the retro feeling of buildings and surrounding shops. Please let me use it again next time there.

Two nights and three days, I was taken care of with my companion. First of all, there were many types of amenities and it was very helpful. Keiichiro was very generous with providing transport to and from the Airbnb and even a stop-off the local grocery store. The house is beautiful and the kitchen was surprisingly well equipped for home cooking. Such a serene place to escape and relax.

I went by car with 5 friends. As for the place, there was also navigation and there was no problem. It was a renovated old house, but the room was comfortable. The rooms are very Japanese, there is a stove in the foyer, you can also try your own fire, and there is everything in the house. It's a bit cold in winter, but it's still cold to turn on the lighter. The boss is very good, arrived on the first day, we are two hours late, the boss has been patiently waiting. Despite the sudden booking, the host was kind and helpful. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable. It was a very good stay.

Ni's cabin is the perfect place to spend some quiet downtime. I went in January and since I didn't have a car there wasn't much to do around; I did go to a soba restaurant and onsen but beyond those, a few other restaurants, and the single convenience store, don't expect much in terms of food, shopping, or other local amenities. The cabin interior is charming, and her ever-playful kitten mii-chan makes the perfect companion. When Ni had time after work she offered to drive me out, and it was overall very enjoyable being able to socialize with a host that isn't strictly Japanese nor foreign. While I can't recommend this place to all travellers, those that love nature, solitude, and a modest style of living should find this to be a very pleasant stay.

We had a wonderful time staying with Ni and ミちゃん, a lovely curious kitty. Ni is a friendly host who gave us some good recommendations for local restaurants and also shares her experience of living in Japan as a foreigner. ミちゃん add a lot of fun while we staying in the house. The room is the same as the pictures, spacious and tidy. It might be a bit hard to locate the house at night but it’s close enough to some ski resorts. Ni was nice enough to take care of my dog while we went snowboarding. I’ll definitely come back again if I visit this area. Highly recommend staying at this sweet home.

I enjoyed my stay a lot. The room is nice and cozy, has a fridge and a TV; and the public baths are amazing. The location is really quiet and beautiful. Employees in genereal nice and helpful. Only downsides: it wasn't really easy finding the exact location. And one receptionist with orange hair didn't talk english at all and it didn't seem to bother him that I could not understand everything in japanese

The front desk was a nice and tasteful place in a fashionable space. The room is a so-called old-fashioned hot spring inn. The room was spacious and good accommodation.

The ryokan / share house itself was not charming as well. It looked like it was not changed after the showa period, except maybe the new shower furnishings haha People living permanently in the ryokan seem to hang out in the common spaces a lot and we The whole place felt like we 'd step back in time to a forgotten era, it was really quite cool. Service and facilities were in place and it was nice to have a calm atmosphere. The owner was very kind and was a wonderful person with a smile. I used it for a university circle trip, but I was very pleased that you used the garden and the banquet hall at BBQ. I could also enjoy the townscape of the Nakagome shopping area with a ryokan.

This traditional Japanese inn is old, but clean enough. Yosuke is such a kind gentleman. I asked him where the good places for kids to play are, and he was very helpful. My kids loved the parks around the area which were surrounded by the great nature. There are some nice hot springs, too. Karuizawa is close. It’s only 30 minutes drive.

I used it for bicycle race participation. As the old-fashioned inn ryokan, the facilities were old, but clean and spacious and could spend comfortably. I want to use it again.

Two nights with a friend. I used it because I thought it was an interesting experience not found in ordinary inns, but as expected, I had a good evening with a couple in a nostalgic old private house, which was a wonderful memory. I want to use it again.

It is a valuable inn where you can stay in a good old Japanese traditional house. The building is old, but it's a cold local building so it's cooler and more comfortable than you might think.

You can spend with peace of mind in a fairly fine building and attentive maintenance. From check-in to check-out, there was nothing confusing or frustrating. A hotel that can be highly recommended. In the case of a car, once you look at the map and prepare properly, you can reach it in one go. It may be severe only with navigation.

The two nights I stayed at Hiro's house was a very wonderful experience, and it completely fulfilled my expectations of Japanese rural life. Dongyu is a very quiet and comfortable place. Yuu-San and Megumi-san are such kind and warm people. Definitely purchase the dinners for every night you stay there. The food is delicious and pretty much unlimited and the conversations with Yuu, his family, and the other guests or friends are super cool. You really end up feeling like part of the family. The long dinners are the highlight of the stay. If you can play music, be prepared to play something for them. You can tell they love art and music, so that's the best gift you can give them. The straw hut is cozy and surprisingly comfortable! If you have any doubts about booking this place, lemme tell you to just go through with it. It'll be one of your more memorable experiences in Japan.

Yuu-Sans place was a perfect start to our travels in Japan. Its a place to relax, enjoy the onsen and take a nice walk. Dinner spent with them was incredible food and conversation! They went over and above to accommodate us! - If your planning on travelling around this area of the mountains I highly recommend a stay here!

It was a life healed by beautiful nature and the personality of the couple. Instead of visiting sightseeing spots, you can get into a different life and discover many things in nature while relaxing. For dinner, you can enjoy Megumi's treats made from vegetables taken that morning in the morning, play with the signboard cat Sumi-chan, or play with the friendly goat clobe.

Akiko & Yuko are one of the best host I met in my life. I spent such great time in 軽井沢. They told me so many things that I didn’t know and they just helped me so so much. I just want to take my family and friends back to 軽井沢 again and again. It’s such an amazing resort! It’s so beautiful that the red leaves just make my dream created in 絵本 come true.

I stayed with two people per night. Although it was a short time, I was able to stay comfortably! We kindly taught you some recommended spots such as nearby restaurants. It was my first time staying at a shared bed & breakfast, but my room was secure with my own private room with passcode lock. If I ever visit Karuizawa again I’ll definitely stay here again!

It was a very comfortable stay not only from Kamisuwa Station to the guest house, but also picking up and dropping off from the next day to places where there is business. Even though I only stayed for one day, it is as comfortable as coming to my relatives' house. I was worried about the cold, but there was no need to use the stove in the room because I prepared an electric blanket (end of November) I am looking forward to the next use!

Sho is the best host we had on our entire trip. He not only offered to pick us up or drop us off wherever we wanted to go, but also offered to drive us around and show us the area. This is precisely what we did. We spend an afternoon driving around town, and he showed us his favorite places. We went for lunch and dinner together multiple times and even invites us twice. Very Japanese style + a bit of modern art. The homestay is close to the station. Fortunately, a person lives in an oversized room. The landlord who liked it very much explained very carefully and was very considerate and provided a heater, which would not be cold at night

If you've read the other good reviews, then I'm not sure what else I can add. I'll probably only be repeating similar things. The host and their family are lovely people and I'd recommend their airbnbs to others, and go back myself, just because of them. The accommodation was good as well - I enjoyed living in a Japanese style house for a while, and being away from the city and away from work. If I lived closer I'd probably visit here for a 'retreat' every so often! The others in the house, and few locals I met, were nice people too. If you need to stay busy, (e.g. go shopping and do lots of sightseeing every day), visiting the 'countryside' may not be right for you - but for me, for what I wanted, everything about my stay here was good. Just note: the location may not show up properly in Google maps, so if you're going to find your own way there make sure to confirm directions/addresses.

Host families are very kind people. In addition, we wanted to go to the area not commercialized badly, but this house was just perfect for us. On the way back I drove to the staff, but the scenery along the road was great.

The French people used to rent bicycles to buy us the special cheeses and so on to act on the carbonara. The chain super TSURUYA in Nagano Prefecture is highly recommended (immediately by car). It was close to Fujimi Station and it was the best accommodation for skiing. This time we went with three people, but the room was spacious and everyone enjoyed it. It was the second stay after last year. My husband and wife were as easy to talk as ever, and we were able to spend comfortably in a very cozy space. There are also indoor dogs. The bath and toilet are shared, and the 3rd floor is a bedroom. The husband is on the basic 2nd floor so if you have any questions, you can go immediately. The scenery of the mountains from the window was very beautiful.

About 2 hours from Chino station, I went to small house on foot. The countryside and the mountains looked beautiful. On the way back from the bus stop in front of the small house, I went to Chino Station by a local bus. There was orange insertion during stay, and it was smart and was very happy.

Partly because of the warm winter, I was able to spend warm. Everything was clean. Tableware and cutlery are also available. I had coffee beans with the service. We drink a lot, so we bought more coffee. There is a hot spring about 5 minutes by car, so the bath is the best while watching Yatsugatake. There is no problem if you bring only towels. Stayed 2 nights in late December. With an oil stove and fan heater, you won't be bothered by the cold. If desired, you can also use a wood stove. For those who like walking I go about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Chino station and return to Fujimi station in about 2 hours, I walked slowly. Hutte Lied is a cute cottage ran by a friendly lady named Midori who speaks fluent English. The cottage is set in the woods with a path in the back and ample local critters running around (we saw racoon dogs every day of our stay!). It's decency close (10 min walk) to a bus stop that can take you to town or to the nearby Mt Adama area. We stayed here in the winter (Mar) and it was very cold to walk around, so this might be better in the summer if you don't have a car. The train station is an hour walk according to Maps. The cottage itself has many heaters and thick blankets. There is a small bath/shower and small kitchen with all the utensils you could need to cook (stove, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, coffee pot, fridge) as well as plates. Midori is super nice and helpful and has a BUNCH of information about her town. Her shop is just up the street too where you can buy outdoor knick knacks and learn kinstuigi, the art of Japanese pottery repair.

We could check in smoothly and were courteous. The cottage surrounded by forest has become the best refreshment.

What an incredible little getaway. The home has all the supplies nessesary. It became very cold during the night, but the incredible feather quilts kept us very warm! It was a log house with a feeling of cleanliness that was easy for couples to use. The owner was friendly and talkative and had a very fun time.

Francisco and Koji are wonderful hosts and their house is absolutely beautiful. We loved our stay there, and wish we could have spent more time at their place! We would absolutely recommend it to other travellers staying in Karuizawa. The house is beautifully renovated and has many luxurious touches. The bed was super comfy and the room was very warm despite it snowing outside. The in-room bathroom was small (however, this is the case for much of Japan), but there is a large bathroom and shower in the common area that you can use. The house is located near the edge of town, which means that it is quiet, relaxing, and serene. We also want to thank Koji for driving us up to Miharashidai (viewpoint up the mountain) so we could see it in the snow! He then dropped us off at the train station so we didn't have to walk with our big bags in the snow. Francisco and Koji go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. By far one of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had!

I came here during the New Year's Day. The price of nearby hotels is too expensive. Other similar homestays in the forest have a lot of bathroom space to share. There is a separate bathroom in the Sennoya room, which is convenient. Transportation: cheek in, taxi is strongly recommended after getting off the station, it is not convenient to drag luggage on the mountain road; walking without luggage is OK! The bed and breakfast location is less than 20 minutes away from the outlet and the station. The area around Karuizawa is great and Daishin's home is a cozy place to come back home to in the evening. The home's design is amazing, minimalist but comfortable. Daishin and his team were also very responsive to messages throughout!

Stayed with a friend for 5 people. The villa is a Scandinavian style villa with glass interior so that you can look out from the veranda, as shown in the photo. Amenity was prepared, too and was able to spend very good time. I visited this time in winter, but if you visit in spring or summer, you will be able to enjoy a more wonderful view from outside the room.

This is the third use. It was quite cold at the end of November, but we had a wood stove prepared in advance so we could spend a warm night. The starry sky seen from the skylight of the bedroom was the best. During the day, barbecues selling delicious meat are nearby, and are a standard event in our happy house. This time, I went to an apple farm in Komoro City for about 20 minutes by car to pick apples. The host, Mr. Hiro, is very kind and healing place in my home. I will use it again. Thank you very much.

I had a wonderful stay at 寛-san's cabin, "Happy House." It is a cozy, comfortable and clean place for a relaxing time in rural Nagano. It is well furnished and decorated quaintly. The bedding (choice of beds or futons) is comfortable. Multiple balconies give many views of the area, but the most beautiful view is of Mt. Asama. 寛-san himself is an excellent host. Happy and kind, he offers pick-up and drop-off at the train station. He was informative during check-in. He asked questions about my intentions and gave recommendations. He offered to go on an hour's hike with me. We had a wonderful time viewing nature in the area, both of us using language interpretation apps. (It was a bit humorous at times!) The location is 20-30 minutes from central Karuizawa by train or car. And, there are two craft beer breweries about 10 minutes further out, as well as shopping and eateries.

Reserve more time to enjoy the tranquility of this place!

I stayed in a single room with a 1 year old child. Staff was very kind and we did not make reservations for breakfast buffet, but we had it added. It was very delicious. It was around 5 minutes by car to the outlet of Karuizawa and it was very convenient. If I had only one disadvantage, the wall was thin and I heard a strange voice, but it was not worrisome except for the middle of the night.

This former Chapel is in a wonderful location right in the middle of a forest of cafés and near Kumoba Pond. you can also hike Hanareyama. Restaurants and shopping near the train station are only a 10 min walk. excellent value, restaurant on site, friendly host, good parking and family friendly!

A hidden gem in the middle of nowhere, yet easy to reach from either end of the Koumi Line, and easy to find within a few hundred yards from the local station. Fantastic all around amenities in a traditional Japanese ryokan, and the usual Japanese culture cleanliness whom future visitors must respect and fulfil. Yosuke is a great host with decent English proficiency, and undoubtedly welcome to all whom treat accordingly.

If you are looking for a cozy and home-like stay in Nagano, this is definitely the place to be. Not only is the ryokan very spacious, but there are incredible amenities in traditional Japanese style. At Yosuke’s place I was able to make lots of friends from Saku and abroad, making for a very memorable stay.

His family is very nice and it's been a pleasure to see a bit of life with children playing and sharing their toys with us. Everyone, clients included (mostly japenese), was super friendly.
