Quenington is a pretty cotswold villiage nestled in the Coln Valley and just eight miles east from Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds. The market town of Fairford is just two miles away. The village has a traditional pub, the Keepers Arms, which serves real ales, delicious home cooked food and has a great traditional pub atmosphere. The closest shop is 10-15 minutes walk in the neighbouring village of Coln St Alwyn. Quenington is ideally located to visit all the Cotswolds attractions.
  • Loved the atmosphere and the eggs from their own hens was a lovely touch

  • We were visiting the area for a friends wedding, and the cottage was perfect for our requirements. It was clean, and set in a lovely location. The hosts even left us some cereal, milk and bread which we felt was a lovely touch. If we are in the area again we would definitely stay again.

  • A fabulous stay... extra touches, very clean, great location to explore or relax. We wished we had longer. Thanks so much :)

  • What an ideallic cottage in such a tranquil area. Even though all the previous reviews were positive you don't appreciate just how good this place is until you're there! The homely and thoughtful touches is what makes this cottage the perfect place away from home. Beautifully furnished and laid out. We loved staying here! Only negative is that we wished we had been here longer. I had a query whilst we were there and Andrew was round in a few minutes. The perfect hosts with the perfect cottage! Thank you so much.

  • Susanne's and Andrew's home was the perfect location for pushing out and venturing into the Cotswolds, as well as being a lovely place to relax. Good communication throughout, Susanne was happy to answer any questions or help us out. Having arrived late on Friday evening it was very nice to have some provisions such as milk, bread, butter, cereal, tea and table condiments provided. Overall, lovely weekend away!

  • Lovely spot in the Cotswolds surrounded by beautiful countryside and great walks. Two local pubs are quite nice. Though have to say more charming on the outside than on the inside. The New Inn (10-12 min walk) was very lovely. Although average food. And the Keepers Arms was quite basic. But very nice staff. The place was the perfect size for a couple, was very clean, had the basics for a breakfast in the morning, which was appreciated and was in a very peaceful, beautiful location, giving a nice level of privacy. Susanne was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay. I’d certainly recommend to anyone that’s looking for a quiet peaceful country retreat that’s wanting to tackle a few great local walks.

  • Sika Cottage is cosy, very clean, spacious, warm and offers plenty of privacy and feels very safe. The owners have deer in their back garden that we enjoyed watching during the morning feeding times. The bed mattress was quite firm but I guess everyone feels differently about things like that. The time spent there was very enjoyable and cosy. Truly loved it.

  • We had a lovely stay at the Old Mill House Cottage, which is detached and in stunning surroundings. The cottage is well equipped and was a relaxing place to stay with our baby and dog. The suggested walks and guides in the cottage were very useful - we would recommend the walk to Bibury and back, with a stop at the Swan Hotel in Bibury, for a perfect day out in the Cotswold countryside! Thank you for your hospitality and for hosting a great place.

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage set in a stunning environment. Nick and his family are very welcoming and provided lots of tips to make our stay even better! Would highly recommend Nick’s cottage to recharge batteries.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Great place, just 5 minutes from Cirencester.

  • Beautiful property in an excellent location. The Chapel was easy to find thanks to clear instructions sent before our stay, and it was very clean and cosy, with plenty of space for eight people. The only slightly annoying thing was the shower in the annexe, which was breaking, but it was still useable so not too bad. Check in was very simple - we were even left a cake as a welcome gift. There are plenty of lovely walks nearby plus an amazing pub. We had a really wonderful weekend here. Thank you!

  • Lovely space. We were a group of eight so the size was perfect. The main bedroom and annexe are great sizes both with en suites and the other two bathrooms are still a comfortable size with a good sized family bathroom. Garden is gorgeous and would be perfect for summer, sadly the weather didn’t allow us to enjoy it. Kitchen is a great size and very practical. Local pub the Falcon is very welcoming and great food- highly recommend. Overall a fab stay.

  • We had a great stay at The Chapel, the property is stunning and the process from booking through to arriving was very easy. The space works really well for a group of 8, with both the kitchen/diner and lounge being good communal spaces. The enclosed garden was also great, especially for the dog.

My place is close to Fairford centre and the river Coln. You’ll love my place because of lovely walks and being at the gateway to the Cotswolds. Pubs and an Italian restaurant close buy. Coffee in the square plus supermarkets and Pharmacy. The Bull restaurant and hotel can give you a full English breakfast and Lynwood for good coffee and sourdough bread and croissants.

  • The cottage was spotless and seems new, location to the village was convenient. The closest grocery is about 15-20 minutes away so stock up before you get there especially if you plan to eat at home sometime.Kitchen was well equipped. Very nice and cosy for a couple.

    Nishant2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • To call this place outstanding would be underselling what my experience was. The cottage was more than comfortable, we immediately started referring it to home. Immaculately clean with nice touches like the towel warmer, a comfortable, a true Queen sized bed that was comfortable beyond expectation and a very simple check in process. This was way beyond expectations and nothing I would ask to be modified. In the village it was conveniently located steps from The Swan which provides a great location for pints, breakfast, dinner, whatever was needed that day. I had considered staying at The Swan and fortunately didn't as it would have been a mistake to miss out on this cottage. If you are out of country looking at this location (I am from Canada) do not hesitate to jump right in and book. It will meet your expectations and more. Personally I hope to get the opportunity to stay again.

The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

The Studio is a cosy single storey self-contained annexe to the owner's house in the Cotswold village of Poulton. Double bedroom, en suite shower room, fully equipped kitchen/living room with sofa bed, private courtyard garden. WiFi, underfloor heating, freesat TV, parking. Basic breakfast included. Great village pub nearby.
Bed linen and towels are provided. On-drive parking is available for two vehicles. The property is adjoined to the owner's family house, but is completely self-contained with its own access. There is space to store bicycles securely (behind a locked gate). To the rear there is a small, private courtyard garden. The property is self-catering but the cupboards are stocked with items for a basic breakfast, plus tea and coffee. The property is compact but well-equipped and newly decorated and furbished throughout. Everything is brand new and clean: the conversion was completed in January 2016. It will sleep two comfortably. There is also a double sofa bed which will sleep a further two people, but space is very limited when the sofa bed is extended, and it is a bit of a squeeze. Please also be aware that access to the toilet and shower room is through the bedroom. Babies and children of all ages are very welcome.
The village of Poulton has a shop, a well-equipped children's park, a church and a fantastic dining pub, The Falcon Inn, which is renowned for its quality food (booking for dinner, particularly at weekends, is advised, as they are often fully booked in advance). Poulton is also home to Performance Cycles (cycling club), and the area is very popular with cyclists at all levels. The village is well situated within the Cotswolds, 5 miles from Cirencester, 3 miles from Fairford, 4 miles from Bibury, and within a half-hour drive of Cheltenham, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Malmesbury and Bourton-on-the-Water. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. Kemble train station is 10 miles away, with the journey to London Paddington taking just under an hour and a half. Beautiful countryside is on the doorstep - just step outside and start walking! Nearby attractions include the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Cotswold Water Park (with watersports and a beach), the famous village of Bibury (described by William Wordsworth as "the most beautiful village in England") with its trout farm, Cirencester with its boutique shops, spa hotel, gastropubs and historic architecture, Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, and Swindon's Steam Museum and designer shopping outlet centre. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. National Trust attractions include Chedworth Roman Villa, Buscot Park and Hidcote Manor Gardens, and the fantastic Westonbirt Arboretum is also nearby. Local events include the Royal International Air Tattoo in July, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Cheltenham Festival in March, the Cotswold Show in July, Cirencester's Phoenix Festival (family music weekend) in August, and WOMAD world music festival in July. Westonbirt Arboretum holds autumn colour events, and Colesbourne Park holds snowdrops walks in the winter.

  • The house is about ten minutes drive from Byblos. It is very convenient to drive to the town during the day. The rooms are the same as the pictures. The rooms are small but they should be there. It ’s just that it ’s really crowded if you want to cook by yourself.

  • What a lovely house, in a beautiful town. Has all the modern amenities, with all the charm of an old house. The host had a Christmas tree and other decorations set up in the house - we really appreciated that effort. Everything was perfect. Wifi is slow, and cell phones are spotty, but that's something out of the owner's control, and it was nice to be a little out of touch with things. I would highly recommend this cottage, and hope to return some time.

As with most Cotswold villages, Coln (as the locals call it) is steeped in history, with a perfectly maintained, 13th-century Norman church and 17th-century coaching inn, the New Inn. As you stroll around the village, you’ll find endless photo opportunities to capture beautiful, honey-coloured, Cotswold limestone cottages backed by pastoral, rolling countryside. Cotswold Cottage is an idyllic Cotswold home for families or friends looking for utter peace and quiet. One thing that may strike you about Coln is its blissful feeling of calm. Guests who are fortunate enough to enjoy sunny days at Cotswold Cottage will be able to appreciate the tranquillity of its gorgeous garden. Providing plenty of open space and room, Cotswold Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln, or to venture further afield. Step out of the front door and you’re straight into miles and miles of walking, including an idyllic 4- or 6-mile route to Bibury (famed for its Arlington Row cottages, possibly the most photographed tourist location in the Cotswolds!), where you can have a bite to eat at The Swan, The Catherine Wheel or in the café at Bibury Trout Farm. If you’re staying with little ones, simply cross the road to a safe, secure and immaculate adventure playground, complete with picnic tables and benches. Then wander downhill to the River Coln, flanked by rolling hills that are home to flocks of sheep and herds of cows – a truly bucolic scene. If you’re lucky enough to catch a sunset, it’ll be one of the most beautiful you’re ever likely to see! Head back up the road to the Coln Community Shop for a cuppa and a slice of some of the tastiest cake in the Cotswolds! Quenington is a beautiful & peaceful village in the heart of The Coln Valley, in The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, 2 miles from Fairford, 3 miles from Bibury & 8 miles from Cirencester. There are stunning walks by the river. My cottage was built in 1878 and is just a stone's throw to the pub The Keepers Arms, which serves real ale and home cooked food. We also have an 11th Century church, St Swithins in the village. It really is the perfect location in which to explore the beautiful Cotswolds.
The cottage which is my home is situated in the heart of this Cotswold village, a short walk to both the pub and the 11th century church, with gorgeous countryside walks down by The River Coln. The cottage is on three floors. On the ground floor is the sitting room, which has two large sofas and a fireplace with a wood burning stove and tv with Freeview, Netflix, a DVD player & unlimited fast Wi-fi. The kitchen is well equipped (no microwave) and has underfloor heating and the porch has a washer/dryer. The first floor has the master bedroom with a kingsized bed with views over the fields, and the bathroom (with a shower in the bath). On the second floor there is the second bedroom also with a king sized bed, with views over the garden. The bedrooms are very quiet, so perfect for a good night’s sleep. The pretty garden (which has shared access by my neighbours) has a table, chairs, benches and a BBQ and is a real sun trap.

  • Albee’s home is beautiful and perfect for a cozy weekend away. She left great small touches like coffee/tea/jam and the entire stay was wonderful. Easy check in and quick responses. Everything is very comfortable, clean, and laid out with care. Location is great, a few metres from a nice pub. We went on walks and didn’t need a car(taxis to and from the station). Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

  • Albee’s cottage was a relaxing stay for the four of us! The cottage is in a beautiful and quaint village and a few minutes drive to the nearby Coln St Aldwyns. The cottage had so many amenities and thoughtful personal touches. We especially loved the kitchen. The wood burning stove was amazing too. Would recommend for a break to the Cotswolds! Albee is a great kind host and although we didn’t meet her she answered all our questions promptly - thank you!

  • We loved staying at Albees place! This is clearly her actual home and as such has a super lovely homely feel to it and is very well set up. We particularly liked the kitchen as we cooked while we were staying there and it has everything you would ever need including many inspiring cook books! The house is decorated with many African animal themed items which makes it quite unique. We loved the fireplace which kept the house warm and snuggly on a wintery weekend. The beds were extremely comfy and nice touches in the rooms to make our stay extra special. There was even card to wish us a nice weekend and a happy birthday to my sister. Highly recommend.

Charmingly renovated cottage, quintessentially Cotswold on the outside, calm and contemporary on the inside. Stunning handmade kitchen, fully equipped and boasting a beautiful AGA. The living room has a library feel, with huge squishy leather sofa, an Abu dance of books, TV, Wifi and digital radio. Upstairs the beamed bedroom space is cosy and romantic, with views of the gardens and surrounding countryside.
  • We had a great time at Allan's place. Lovely quiet cottage with a well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa and very cosy bedroom and ensuite. We made good use of the hot tub and sauna which were free to use at any time. We felt very welcome and enjoyed having a glass of wine with Allan on one of the evenings. Would also recommend a trip into Cirencester which is lovely and has a fair amount to see.

  • Photos do not do this place justice! We were overwhelmed with the cottage and it’s grounds. Allan and Ruby were incredible hosts and couldn’t have done any more! So many lovely extra touches such as fresh flowers, fresh bread and wine. Amazing stay and will definitely book to return again!

  • Having read the other reviews before our visit I was very excited for our weekend away. The cottage 100% lived up to expectation and actually exceeded it. The cottage, house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and ell kept. The upgraded hot tub to the one in the photos was an awesome surprise. We didn't get to use the sauna, but a lovely facility that future guests are sure to make use of. Location was perfect for day tripping in the cotswold with pubs, restaurants and supermarkets all nearby. Overall an amazing spot tucked away in the beautiful Cotswolds. I hope we can make a return visit some day.

A 1930’s, 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage, with a refined, classic feel, in the heart of Coln St Aldwyns, one of the Cotswolds' prettiest hidden villages. It has been recently modernised and is immaculately decorated and maintained, sleeping 4 across a spacious double bedroom and a large twin room. Benefitting from front and rear gardens with an outdoor entertaining area and easy, free parking, this property is ideal for 2 couples or a young family. Accepts up to 2 well-behaved dogs (£30 per dog).
One of the undiscovered Cotswold villages, Coln St Aldwyns will delight anyone who wants to be immersed in the Cotswold countryside, have a memorable Cotswold experience, yet avoid the hustle and bustle of the Cotswolds’ tourist hot spots. As with most Cotswold villages, Coln (as the locals call it) is steeped in history, with a perfectly maintained, 13th-century Norman church and 17th-century coaching inn, the New Inn (due to re-open early Spring 2019). As you stroll around the village, you’ll find endless photo opportunities to capture beautiful, honey-coloured, Cotswold limestone cottages backed by pastoral, rolling countryside. Meadow View 2 is an immaculately decorated and maintained, bright and airy cottage, with lots of pretty windows affording views on all sides, sweeping across the Williamstrip and Hatherop Estates - acres of meadow, parkland and farmland - and the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln. If you’re staying with littles one, simply cross the road to a safe, secure and immaculate adventure playground, complete with picnic tables and benches. At the end of your day exploring the Cotswolds, return to Meadow View 2 and Coln St Aldwyns, far from the madding crowds, with easy parking, peace and quiet and an immaculate and cosy home-from-home. With a large, walk-in Grohe shower, full-size bath with mixer taps, heated towel rail, dual-flush toilet, and sink with large mirror, plus a small selection of toiletries, there’s everything here you’ll need for your stay. Outside Meadow View 2 is framed by a lawn area to its front and large private garden to its rear, affording it a wonderful feeling of privacy. A wooden fence separates Meadow View 2 from the neighbouring Meadow View. It’s in the back garden where the cottages’ magic really comes alive, thanks to the adjoining Williamstrip Park, making the garden feel larger than it is thanks to the adjacent, sweeping countryside views. The cottage has an elevated patio area with garden table and chairs, making it perfect for al fresco sundowners after a busy day exploring the Cotswolds. (Please note: patio furniture will be placed outside from mid-Spring.) To the side of the cottage is a large Utility Room housing the Hotpoint washer/dryer. This is also the perfect space to securely store walking gear, bicycles or a pushchair.
COLN ST ALDWYNS Nestling in the Coln Valley, Coln St Aldwyns is a traditional estate village made up of pretty cottages and houses in the Cotswold tradition. The main street starts at the valley river bed, cuts up through the heart of the village and ends at the central focal point which is a large horse chestnut tree planted on a raised circle of grass. It boasts a Norman Church and is one of the most unspoilt villages in the area, the parish being within a Conservation Area and Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Coln St Aldwyns is 3 miles from Bibury and Fairford and 9 miles from Cirencester. The village boasts a 13th centuary church, a popular 17th century pub – The New Inn at Coln, a village shop and post office and many beautiful walks in and around the area. Coln Community Shop is in the centre of the village, 2-minutes’ walk from Meadow View 2. Here you’ll find a wide range of provisions, a café, Post Office, off-license, laundry service and lots of local information. • Beautiful quaint spot, amazing pub in walking distance (The New Inn) with lovely food and friendly staff. There’s also a cute local/coffee shop. Would highly recommend the accommodation and area.

  • Amazing place, the house is spotless and so cozy. Village is lovely. Would 100% recommend.

  • Lovely little escape in the middle of a small village. Tucked away on a quiet road (we drove past twice before finding it), parking on the street was easy plenty of space just outside opposite the bu top. Directions take you to the little shop, I think we'd have found it straight away but we didn't have much signal to check our directions. Unfortunately didn't get to spend much time in the house as we were attending a wedding but would love to return to experience the countryside. Beds all very comfy, modern bathroom, cosy living room and a kitchen that has everything you need. Very well presented.

  • Amazing home, everything perfect, lovely location, easy clear communication.

    Nalinee2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a pretty house with very good location. You can see ox eating grass when you have breakfast. The playground opposite this house so funny that my kid likes it so much. Next time I hope I could book longer reservation.

  • Great home nestled away in a quiet village in the Cotswolds. Central to everything the region has to offer, but much quieter than what we experienced in the other bustling villages. Great kids playground directly across the street.

  • It is a townhouse with a courtyard in the Katswald region. We live in one of them. If you are driving, such a house is suitable. The facilities in the house are all available.

Welcome to The Hermitage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. The Hermitage is a romantic Cotswold stone cottage, located in the large grounds of a beautiful manor house in the picturesque village of Poulton, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Although small, Poulton has a well-regarded pub and a nice park close to the cottage. The village is five miles away from the Roman town of Cirencester, the largest market town in the Cotswolds, and is also close to many other picture-postcard Cotswold villages, including Bibury, Barnsley and Eastleach, with the stunning Coln Valley just a short drive away. As well as being close to the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, Poulton is also well placed for exploring further afield places, such as Oxford, Bath, or even a day-trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Sitting in the grounds of Poulton’s lovely manor house, The Hermitage is a charming, self-contained cottage. The lovely oak front door opens into the main room, and the following rooms are in the cottage: Bedroom/living room: A stylish and inviting space with stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. This large room contains a king size bed, a dining table with four chairs, an arm chair, small sofa and a Smart TV; Kitchen: A step leads down from the living area to the well-presented kitchen, which contains an electric oven, four ring induction hob, fridge, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle; Bathroom: Located off the kitchen, the bathroom contains a large walk in shower, toilet and wash basin. Directly outside the cottage, there is a private, unenclosed garden area. This includes a peaceful patio area, with a table and four chairs, plus a charcoal barbecue. There is private parking for one car directly outside the cottage.
  • Brilliant little space for a few days, will definitely be back.

  • I had high expectations from the lovely pictures and listing, but it was even better in person! There were so many thoughtful touches (bird seeds for spreading, dog snacks, games, lotions, a variety of bath salts, etc.). It truly felt like home, if my home was a beyond charming 500 year-old cottage (rather than a colonial-style home in a 90s suburb). The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I loved using the cute vanity to get ready each morning. The house was well-stocked in every area and surprisingly equipped with modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, etc.) that blended pretty seamlessly. They did a great job with the design down to the smallest details (antique light switches, faucets and hardware, etc.) it was pretty easy to feel like you had been transported in time. You do need to be a little extra careful on the stairs, especially with kids, but there are decent hand rails and reminders on the wall to take them slowly. We came with two young kids and loved having a really nice playground, a library, lovely walking trails and shops just a short walk away. There is also a coffee shop a couple doors down with amazing brownies (not typically a chocolate fan) and a small farmers market on Wednesdays. Oh, and we really enjoyed lighting the fire at night (especially the first night when all we needed to do was drop a match on their perfectly prepared stack of wood and fire starters, lol). All in all, a wonderful trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!

A place where everyone says Hi would sum up the neighborhood. Welcoming and accommodating with an easy pace, time to relax and unwind is the key to a stay in the Cotswold's. Dog Friendly Footpath bordering a stream is a few doors down from the House, this leads to a beautiful, more or less trail of endless miles of walks for you and the kids ( furry or otherwise). Cyclists are more than welcome, there are nearly as many bikes as cars most weekends . The hallway can accommodate a couple of bikes and another couple beside the garden room outside. Fairford is a classic quaint village but has all you need to make for a comfortable stay. Londis 6:30AM - 10PM you can walk to and a co-op convenience store a couple of minutes walk. Don't feel like cooking?, Indian, Chinese, kebabs, Fish and chips, pizza, restaurant or pub grub is only a short walk from the house. Too tired for even that, Indian and Pizza delivery available. You also have to check out the Post Office Cafe, cakes and patisseries, awesome! There is a local street market every Wednesday. We are 5 minutes drive from The lakes ( all 140 of them and counting) offering countless water based activities including Water Skiing / sailing/swimming. A dedicated doggy swimming beach ! ). 15 minutes drive either way will take you to the gorgeous Capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester or Swindon outlet village is definitely worth a look. Fairford is a great base to explore the British countryside at its best. Lechlade on Thames is also a 5 minute drive with pubs and Antique Shops.
  • This is a gorgeous cottage in a fabulous location. So good with a dog to be able to walk straight from the cottage on lovely river walks. We walked twice to Quenington via different routes . Everything works really well and the kitchen is particularly good. We cooked a huge complex brunch and had all the pans and rings we needed! Bedrooms are lovely with great views and very comfy beds. The bathroom is great with a really powerful shower. And of course the hot tub which was all ready for us. We went to The Bull on the first night we were there which was nice and comfy but the food was really awful. The Indian takeaway is excellent and The Keepers Arms in Quenington is great.

  • Fantastic cottage with all the amenities you would want. Location is great with walks and town nearby. Considering Storm Dennis was in full flow throughout the weekend we made the most of all that Fairford had to offer and even had a couple of rainy hot tub sessions with the kids! Highly recommend 👍🏼

  • Andy and Donna's place was amazing. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and very homely. They even added extra touches to make us feel welcome like fresh eggs, coffee and TV maker in every room, fancy chocolates and we even discovered alexa. Will definitely be back and would recommend this to anyone. Thank you again

  • Absolutely loved staying at Ursula's stylish, comfortable, quiet & well equipped annexe. Lovely countryside location in small hamlet with quick access to many of Cotswolds attractions. Great range of breakfast items supplied & having microwave meant I could rustle up quick lunch & dinners (no hob or oven but that didn't matter). Excellent communication at all times. I would highly recommend this Airbnb & would love to stay again.

The Old Farm Bed & Breakfast is located within the picturesque village of Ampney Crucis in the heart of the Cotswolds. This brand new, peaceful, self contained detached annex is in the grounds of the The Old Farm, a traditional cotswold stone house.
This brand new, peaceful, self contained detached annex is warm and cosy. It has a luxurious king size bed and a small wet room with a rain shower. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee and tea making facilities, including a nespresso machine. Please note that breakfast is self-service continental style taken in the annex.
We are extremely well located. Ampney Crucis is 3 miles from the busy market town of Cirencester, known as the Capital of the Cotswolds. Cirencester offers a farmers market, a selection of restaurants and is renowned for its boutique and art and craft shops. Ampney Crucis is just a short drive from the beautiful village of Bibury, as well as being within easy reach of Bourton on the Water, Lechlade and Burford. It is well located for various attractions such as Westonbirt Arboreatum, the Cotswold Wildlife Park as well as racing at Cheltenham.
  • Fiona’s place was a perfect little spot to stay in by the Cotswolds, very nicely decorated and clean.

    Caroline2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and stylish annexe near to the main house (but far away to be private). It has been decorated and equipped to a very standard. Amazingly comfortable bed, nice wet room and facilities for cooking (I wasn’t expecting a hob to be available so that was a pleasant surprise). Only met Fiona once, when I arrived and had difficulty finding the property in the dark and she appeared with a torch to show me in, but she stressed that I could call or visit the house if there was anything I needed - there wasn’t. Really relaxing stay and very close to the facilities available in Cirencester. Would absolutely recommend for a short stay in the Cotswolds. Thank you Fiona.

    Lucy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and nicely decorated with a lovely shower and a comfortable bed.

    Kailey2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful and comfortable. The room was very warm as well which was great since it was freezing outside. We had a bit of trouble finding the place as google map took us to a different location (which Fiona had pointed out in advance) hence she had provided directions beforehand but since we arrived late and there were no street lights it was hard to tell what was what and we got lost anyway. It may help to arrive while it is still light out. Communication was great and the cereals and drinks were a plus:) Would highly recommend!!

    Eimi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Just got back from a delightful stay - Fiona was a great host, with local tips (we really enjoyed our afternoon at The Crown of Crucis pub/restuarant) and great hospitality (fresh orange juice, milk and croissants were a treat). The space was impeccably clean, warm and cosy. Would highly recommend.

    Heather2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, quiet and peaceful but close enough to amenities if you need them. Perfect for a break or business trip.

    Catherine2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in this calm, beautiful annexe. It was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, and we really appreciated the fresh milk and juice left for us. Located in a quiet, rural location but within a short driving distance of lots of attractions, it was perfect for us and we would definitely stay again.

    Katherine2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb we have stayed at... classy, stylish and functionally perfect. Gorgeous wet room, lovely continental breakfast. Comfy bed almost made us check out late ! Helpful and lovely host .... Honestly can’t fault this, place it’s wonderful.... thank you Fiona

Beautiful 18th-century Beehive Cottage, in the Cotswold village of Poulton, sleeps 6 guests across one king-size, one double and one twin bedroom. The cottage has a very well- equipped kitchen, a spacious living room with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, a separate Snug with a work area, a spacious family bathroom with a bath and a downstairs shower room/utility. Outside is a large, pretty garden and off-street parking for two cars, with free on street parking readily available.
Introduction As you pull onto the gravelled drive at Beehive Cottage, in the village of Poulton, you’ll immediately feel a sense of serenity as the history and beauty of the cottage greets you. It is an archetypal Cotswold property, built in the 1760’s with Victorian additions – the type of home you see featured in property magazines and wish you could stay! The owner has renovated Beehive Cottage very sympathetically, maintaining the traditional character of the cottage yet providing every modern convenience with a contemporary but stunning interior design – including richly pigmented, eco-friendly Farrow & Ball paints - plus everything you need for a thoroughly pampered, self-catered Cotswold holiday. Beehive Cottage’s front door is framed by wisteria and passionflower, with thick swathes of lavender in the garden’s raised beds, attracting butterflies and bees in the summertime. French doors open from the Kitchen-Dining area to an outdoor seating area, which wraps round the cottage to further seating and a barbecue. Steps leads up to a lawn, with mature planting, and a second large table, where you can sit and enjoy the last rays of evening sunshine looking back towards the cottage. The traditional character of Beehive Cottage, including a stunning inglenook fireplace (with a secret stone staircase behind winding up to Bedroom 3), original oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls combines fabulously with the carefully chosen modern amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen with 6-ring hob, a shower/utility room, a family bathroom, WiFi, a Smart TV, Bose speaker, a Snug with work area (for guests who have to check in to the office) and exquisite, decorations throughout the cottage that have been hand-painted by the owner. Poulton is a small but thriving Cotswold village with a traditional British pub, The Falcon Inn, serving British modern food, and featuring locally brewed cask ales. The village has a church (St Michael’s and All Angels) and a children's playground and playing field, called ‘Englands’, directly across the lane from the cottage. A traditional summer fete is held each year on the first Sunday after the August Bank Holiday. The closest food shops to the cottage are in Fairford, approximately 3 miles away (see ‘Local Amenities’). (please note: Poulton no longer has a village shop.)  FACILITIES  Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms across 1 king-size double bedroom, 1 standard double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (2 singles)  2 bathrooms: 1 family bathroom (Bath, toilet, wash basin); 1 ground floor shower room (walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin)  Parking: driveway, with parking space for two cars. Two sofas and an armchair provide comfy seating for six guests to watch the Smart TV and enjoy the wood burning stove, while a window seat is the perfect place to perch and read a book. During renovation work, a stone stairway was unearthed behind the fireplace, leading up to the twin bedroom; providing a fascinating glimpse into the cottage’s past. (Although the staircase is open, the owners do not recommend using it as it is steep, narrow and uneven. A lock is provided on the twin bedroom door to prevent younger guests in that bedroom from using the staircase.) The cottage’s main staircase leads up from the Living Room to the three bedrooms and Family Bathroom Turn left down two stone steps to: The Snug-Study A delightful room between the kitchen and Living Room featuring flagstone flooring with a cosy, richly coloured rug, a desk (with pens, paper and colouring pencils), an antique glass-fronted bookcase with novels and local guides, and a two-seater leather sofa and an armchair with a footstool, perfectly placed to watch a meal being prepared or relax in the quiet of the Snug. Guests are provided with a starter supply of essentials, including teabags, Nespresso pods, instant coffee, fresh milk, oils, salt and pepper and cooking condiments. The large dining table comfortably seats six guests. Off the Living Room: Shower Room/Utility Through a door off the Living Room is the handy downstairs Shower Room/Utility with a walk-in corner shower (with hand-held and overhead shower), toilet, wash basin and heated towel radiator. The cottage’s Hotpoint washing machine is in this room, along with an outdoor and indoor airer for drying clothes, an iron and ironing board. Upstairs Stairs up from the Living Room lead to the carpeted landing and the cottage’s three bedrooms: Bedroom Three The first bedroom at the top of the stairs is the pretty twin bedroom, with exposed oak eaves, charming artwork, two single beds and a day sofa, all carefully arranged to provide plenty of room to walk around. The bedroom is furnished with bedside chests and lamps, a corner hanging rail, and a lovely window seat overlooking the garden’s outdoor seating area. A door at the back of the room opens to the steep, secret staircase down to the Living Room. This door can be bolted to stop young children using it. Bedroom Two Cross the landing to Beehive’s king-size bedroom, with its soft-yellow walls and accents of pink and red. Guests can watch the world go by, sitting in the window seat while reading a book from the wide selection of novels from the bedroom’s bookcase. The room is furnished with a sink-in KING bed, half-height wardrobe, a bedside chest of drawers with a reading light, and an impressive mirror. Hairdryer in drawer. Bedroom One At the end of the landing, up two stairs, is the master bedroom, affectionately known by the owner as the Butterfly Room, which features a sink-in, double-size bed and walls decorated with beautifully hand-painted butterflies. The room is furnished with a handsome, cherry wood chest of drawers and dressing table, bedside tables with reading lamps and a hanging rail with a shoe rack. With windows on three sides, overlooking the garden and the road below, the master bedroom is bright and light, but has exquisite hand-made, heavy curtains and a blind to ensure a really good night’s sleep. Family Bathroom Located next to Bedroom One, the Family Bathroom is practical yet exudes relaxation at the same time, with its painted wooden floor, half-panelled soft-grey walls and an intricately hand-painted partridge, complimented by a series of antique birds’ egg paintings. The bathroom features a full-length bath, with luxury bubble bath provided, a toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Outside Beehive Cottage has a charming garden with a lawn and a gravelled area with seating and parking for two cars. Wisteria and passionflower frame the front door and climb up to the bedroom windows, while in the summertime lavender blooms fill the air with their scent, attracting bees, butterflies and birds. Step through the French doors in the Kitchen to the outdoor seating area, with its oblong-shaped table, seating for eight and charcoal barbecue. Beyond the parking area, up a few steps, is an immaculate lawn with raised beds and an original beehive – no longer in use!

  • Beehive Cottage is a treasure, and we are so thankful for the privilege of having stayed in this wonderful home. We loved the care and thought that the owner put into restoring and updating her home, and we are so very grateful to the manager and caretaker for being such caring stewards of this masterpiece. Leaving was bittersweet - sad to go, but happy that we might visit again soon.

  • This is a marvelous place to stay. So sweet and cozy, everything was perfect. I hope we get to come back someday!

  • Amazing cottage in a beautiful area! Great amenities too. Thank you xx

  • The perfect place for a cosy weekend getaway. Beehive Cottage is beautiful and none of us wanted to leave! It’s warm and inviting and the personal touches meant such a lot. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need, the sitting room is cosy with a lovely wood burner which is easy to use. The whole house is beautifully furnished and is a quintessential Cotswold cottage! My friends and I had the perfect weekend away and we will certainly come back to beautiful Beehive. Thank you so much!!

    Sophie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in quiet village, ideal for family get away where you cater for yourselves. Nice inn nearby for good food at reasonable prices. Cottage is well furnished and cosy and log burner provides idyllic homely feel. Only drawback was draft through doors and not all doors to rooms close fully, which does lend itself to a spooky feel when they open when you're trying to sleep!

    Scott2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous cottage Beehive is. My friends and I had the most perfect stay made all the more wonderful by the well stocked kitchen, the lovely welcoming touches, the comfy beds and sofas and the roaring fire. The cottage has been renovated beautifully and it was a pleasure to stay in. We can HIGHLY recommend eating at The Falcon Inn next door (make sure you book). The little village of Bibury is a short drive away and well worth a visit. A couple of tips for the house - bring slippers as the stone floors are cold, and the complimentary logs last 1 evening and there is nowhere local to buy more once you’ve had a glass of wine or two! So bring wood with you or buy some along the way so you have plenty. We will most definitely be back :)

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, well-stocked cottage - the perfect retreat for 3 couples and a baby. We loved all the features, allowing for long meals and games in front of the fire. The house was sparkling clean throughout and the beds were very comfortable. The attention to detail was second to none - and the hand painted decoration is stunning. We also loved the home baked cake for our arrival, much needed after a long drive! Thank you so much.

You will love Stable Cottage because of its unique and peaceful setting attached to our C18 Cotswold Farmhouse which has wonderful views and huge garden. It's is private, spacious but cosy with a comfy bed and woodburning stove for chilly winter evenings. Perfect if you want to come and isolate yourself from coronavirus..
The beautiful setting and stylish interior
The peaceful countryside and convenient location. There are footpaths nearby and the nearest Pub is 2.3 miles away.
  • A lovely setting to escape to the country for a couple of nights - Caroline's characterful family house is the only other in site from the cottage. I'm sure it would be lovely to sit out on a warm summers eve, but if not, retreating to the snug and the log burner is a delight. The cottage is well kitted out with everything needed for a self sufficient visit, and makes for a very comfortable stay. Only a short drive to the nearest villages, also part linked up by footpaths if the weather is right. The recommended 6 mile walk in the welcome folder was very enjoyable, and muddy!

    Jody2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely brilliant. Lovely location and only a short drive from the best parts of the Cotswolds.

    Hugh2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean, tidy and comfortable. A good location, close to Cirencester and some good pubs.

    Andrew2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this lovely cottage in the middle of a farm: very charming, very convenient with a fully equipped kitchen. The fireplace is such a plus in winter and cosy. The bedding is perfect and comfortable. Very adapted for a couple and a baby. Caroline is very nice and flexible regarding check in time. Unfortunately we did not get the chance to meet her.

This 'Picture Postcard' Cotswold cottage is quietly situated within a few minutes walk of Lechlade-on-Thames town centre’s pubs, restaurants and shops and is ideally situated for exploring the delights of the Cotswolds. The property is blessed with a wealth of character and has been beautifully restored. Although very close to the Town Centre, this cottage is remarkably peaceful. The cottage is accessed by a footpath and is approximately 20 yards off Sherborne Street.
The open plan living space has its original flagstone floors, exposed ceiling beams and a cosy wood burning stove. A supply of firewood will be provided. Within the reception space lies the well-appointed kitchen with built-in appliances including cooker/hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc. A good amount of larder supplies will be provided as well as all crockery, cutlery and glassware etc. The lounge area is also well appointed with Freeview TV, DVD player, WiFi router, radio etc. There are a selection of DVD's, books and games provided. Very quiet and peaceful despite being just minutes walk from the town centre. Parking is on street, safe and only yards from the front door.
Lechlade and the surrounding area has so much to offer visitors. It is ideally located in the South of the Cotswolds. For the more active amongst us, there are plenty of walking trails of varying difficultly, as well as cycle routes. Lechlade is on the bank of the Thames which provides plenty of other activities such as Boat hire which can be arranged from The Trout Inn which is only about a mile on the Faringdon Road. A little way down the river towards Buscot, you will find St Johns Lock which is the first lock on the Thames. Stay here a while and watch the boats navigate through the lock. Lechlade is served by plenty of Pubs and Restaurants such as the Riverside which is located just beyond the famous Halfpenny Bridge. The local Fish & Chip shop is again just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. There are also Chinese and Indian restaurants as well as Cafe's. If you're after a more leisurely holiday, there are grand open homes to visit such as Kelmscott Manor and Buscot House or you may choose to visit the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust for a spot of birdwatching or catching a glimpse of other wildlife. For big and small children alike, The Cotswold Wildlife Park is just 6 miles along the road to Burford. This is a fantastic dayout for all the family and is a must see whilst you are in the area. If fishing is your thing, the Lechlade Trout Fishery provides rod hire & river fishing. They are located on the edge of town on the Burford Road. There is also a broad mix of shops in the town from the renowned Christmas Shop through to Antiques. Plumtree Cottage is just a couple of minutes walk from the local Londis where you will find all of the essentials that you will need during your stay. You will also find a Butcher and Grocer a couple of minutes away. Other major centres which are within easy reach of Lechlade by car are Burford - 11 minutes, Cirencester (The Capital of the Cotswolds) - 25 minutes, Swindon - 30 minutes and Oxford - 40 minutes.
  • This cottage was far better than expected. Quaint and cozy, it is the perfect place to stay. The hosts are very good at communication and the Welcome basket was a real treat. I would recommend this Airbnb without hesitation.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Plum Cottage. The cottage was spotless and Sue had left so many thoughtful touches which really made a difference. There was an abundance of information about the local area and also clear instructions on how to work everything in the cottage. The location was great as you could easily walk anywhere within the village. Overall a wonderful stay in a beautiful and cosy cottage. We would love to stay again!

The Pigsty has been lovingly converted into a double en suite room with TV, internet, tea and coffee. The room opens up onto a sunny, newly paved court yard with outdoor seating for you to enjoy. The private entrance via a locked gate means you can come and go as you please. Located in central Lechlade with the river Thames, open fields, pubs, restaurants and cafes on your door step. It's a vibrant and friendly market town with plenty to do!
Built circa 1805 this property was originally a pigsty and later converted in to the wash house for the cottage built around 1850. Now it's a quirky en suite room with handmade mahogany double glazed doors and windows, under floor heating, stone sink, remote controlled lighting and extractor fan and opens up onto a sunny court yard for you to enjoy. The room itself can be used as living room, bedroom or work space with the fold out futon and table, as illustrated in the photos. Note: due to limited space, toilet has a curtain instead of a door. Pigsty is located about 4 metres from my kitchen/back door
Lechlade a very social and friendly place. The terrace row where the Pigsty is situated is a throw back to 1940s living, with close neighbours and cups of tea over the garden fence. It's charming and you'll certainly live like a local and not a tourist.
  • Absolutely superb.

    Noel2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Isla’s Pigsty is the cutest most comfortable little space you can imagine. We wanted to get out of London to switch off and be in nature. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location. The Pigsty is located in the centre of the picturesque village of Lechlade-on-Thames, with all amenities you could want in a few min walking distance, and on top of a local walking route that takes you along the Thames across local fields. Isla was super responsive so check-in was a breeze and she was on hand for any tips. Thanks Isla!

  • I have been a regular pig stayer over the last 10 weeks or so and everything is always great. Warm, comfortable and cosy. Just right after a day at work or out walking.

The Granary is part of The Great Barns at Macaroni Farm which were built in the 1700's. Macaroni Farm is a family run, organic farm situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Guests staying here can enjoy the many footpaths, and walk across fields to the historic village of Eastleach. The Granary is a beautifully authentic barn conversion which retains the feel of the original grain store it once was, with exposed beams, stone and stable dividers upstairs.
The ground floor consists of a large, stone floored open plan living room/kitchen, with electric wood burner. The entrance hall is spacious with a WC under the stairs, that leads up to the bathroom, twin room , and master bedroom. All beds are comfortable Loaf beds. The master bedroom has a super king size bed and its' own WC and basin. Guests would need to walk through the twin to get to the master room, which could also be used as a dressing room for couples who wished to stay.
The historic village of Eastleach is a short walk across the fields from The Granary which also boasts the very popular 'Queen Victoria' pub. We are on the edge of the Coln Valley famous for its' beautiful walks. There are 5 wonderful pubs within a 10 minute radius of the farm, while the villages of Bibury, Burford, Fairford, Lechlade and Cirencester are close by and easy to explore from us. Fairford and Lechlade both have a 'Lynwoods' café which are infamous for their delicious coffee, sourdough and breakfasts.
  • A beautifully appointed barn conversion. A really special place to stay.

  • Very comfortable stay with our toddler. Lovely place to stay. Modern and spacious. Liza was very accomodating and great at responding to messages. She kindly left us some milk, eggs and crossaints to start off our stay. Beds were very comfortable. Thanks for a lovely little break.

  • The Granary is an absolute gem. My friends and I had an amazingly peaceful time at the cottage for our get away. It is very quiet but also only a few minutes drive away from the classic charming villages of Cotswolds with good pubs around, offers beautiful walks and Liza the host was so quick to respond (we didn’t have the bin liners), you would never feel too far away. The place is spacious, tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. And the beds are super comfortable with the amazing down duvets that makes you feel like you’re floating in the clouds. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

    Tania2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible stay at The Granary. It’s the perfect location for a weekend getaway in the country with beautiful walks, pubs and the English countryside right on its doorstep. Liza was so helpful at recommending local attractions and her attention to detail in the house is amazing. We will definitely be coming back!!

    Victoria2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, the Cotswolds are amazing, its absolutely stunning here. It is beautiful English Countryside in the forest. It was exactly what I was hoping to see. Beautiful home in a beautiful location, near cute medieval villages, and even palaces not too far away. We went as a family, and spent a day shopping in near by Burford, and Bourton on the Water, and visiting Blenheim Palace. The home is neat and well equipped, with oodles of space. Its styled well and lit well through out, with very good black out curtains on the sleeping floor. Bathrooms a plenty (such an awesome luxury.) We only spent 2 nights at The Granary but we would've happily have stayed for 2 weeks or more. There was so much to see and do in the area. The home has excellent wifi, and a washing machine that also can dry. The only small negative is its under a flight path, planes fly by quite frequently but do eventually stop overnight. I would recommend staying here to anyone. Its an absolutely amazing Airbnb, and worth every penny. I loved it.

Hawkins Cottage is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of a pretty Cotswold Village and is ideal for short breaks, bird watchers, walkers, cyclists or a weekend away. The property offers a room with WiFi and garden views overlooking the Coln valley. On street parking is available directly outside the property. The room is decorated in neutral tones and has a comfortable dble bed and ensuite shower. Separate WC. Continental breakfast is available each morning.
The room overlooks the Coln Valley which is neatly tucked away on the edge of this picturesque village. You can relax outside your room on the terrace in this tranquil spot watching the wildlife.
Quenington is a circular village and from the cottage you can walk to Coln, Fairford and Bibury. All these places have a range of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. Cirencester offers a far larger shopping area and also a local market.
  • Set in the stunning tranquil village of Quenington. Absolute gem of a place. Host fabulous. Great local pub 3 mins walk with excellent food. Highly recommended

  • Betina is a great host, friendly and very helpful. She made great recommendations during our stay, for dining and also sightseeing and nearby foot paths/walks. The location is unbeatable, had breakfast with a view in the garden and our stay felt like visiting relatives in the countryside, but still enjoyed our privacy. We only stayed 2 nights but we would come back and or recommend this place to anyone looking to experience the British countryside.

    Lucila2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was our last stay in an Air BnB on our European trip and I can honestly say that it was the best one. This is first class accommodation with a friendly, courteous and thoughtful couple. The village itself is beautiful, quaint and quiet. Bettin and Andrew's house is remarkable. Minimal steps, our own bedroom and bathroom, modern and stylish. The house is a combination of slate floors and stonework which all blends into a very pleasant and hospitable place to stay. The back bedroom doors open out to a small patio which in itself looks over gardens and trees. Just so restful. Wished we could have stayed much longer. Bettina very kindly prov ided a great breakfast each morning of fresh juice, coffee/tea, cereal and toast. Indeed when we first arrived Bettina made us a cup of tea and we sat down and chatted. Wonderful people in a great setting.

    Michael2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Betina’s cottage was very lovely, I don’t usually book “private rooms” but our room and wash area in Betina’s cottage was almost in its own separate “wing” so you didn’t feel like you were intruding on their space or vice versa. The breakfast spread each morning was great and Betina was very thoughtful with her local tips and putting deck chairs outside for us to sit on etc. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb to others. Thanks for a short but lovely stay.

    Lauren2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a quiet village. Great location for visiting the Cotswolds. Betina is a SUPER host and very accommodating and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Good value for money.

    Michelle2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful space in an absolutely lovely little town! Betina gave us great suggestions for local pubs, directions and travel tips. We felt like we gained a friend by the end of our three days there! Quenington is a fabulous gateway to many areas in the Cotswolds - Oxford, Bath and darling Cotswolds villages. We would love to go back someday!

    Linley2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time staying at Betina and Andrew’s place. They have a beautiful home and garden, and they were both very welcoming. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family

If you want to experience the true Cotswolds, why not stay in a typical Cotswold Bothy in the heart of the region, in beautiful Bibury. A totally separate building, with ensure facilities and a lovely King- Sized bed. The Bothy has Tea & Coffee making facilities but no kitchen but fear not, The Catherine Wheel Pub is just across the road and the Four Star Swan Hotel is 500 yards away. Look up the village on the internet, the beauty speaks for itself, plus very handy for the rest of the Cotswolds
It's just a lovely little room, totally separate from my cottage but near enough for any problems. Being in Bibury, it's very handy for other fantastic locations, such as Burford, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water and many more!. The Swan Hotel is about 600 yards away and Cribbs Barn is about 2 miles away and both are very popular wedding venues.
  • Location was great, close to great walking route for us and our dog, across the road from a pub and in a quieter part of the village. Loved it and would return.

    Nina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was very friendly, approachable and offered a lot of local tips. His lovely little bothy was tastefully decorated and a cosy place to stay right and some beautiful walks and great pubs! We would go again!

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and cosy Bothy which is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Cotswolds. Great location and Chris is the perfect host. Highly recommended

    Philip2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Directly opposite a pub, and walking distance down to the picturesque river and start of a great 6km walk around the countryside. Highly recommend the brunch and coffee in the Swan hotel too. Accommodation is definitely ‘snug’ - just a bedroom and a bathroom, but that’s all you need when out exploring 😁 Thanks for having us! Will definitely stay here if we come back.

    Kayley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in a stunning location, great local pub with fantastic walks around the area.

    Dean2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a fantastic little place with period touches. We loved the huge ancient key to open the door! We were a little worried that we may hear the traffic given where it is located but we were not bothered by any traffic at all. As stated in the description of the property there are only tea/coffee making facilities which served us fine. We just popped across to the Catherine wheel pub for breakfast. I totally recommend this place and it has the added bonus of being a 5min walk from the centre of picturesque Arlington.

    Andre2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in the middle of Bibury. Ideal location near to Cripps Barn where we were attending a wedding. Comms with Chris was great. Easy to get in the house - nice room, spotlessly clean.

    Martin2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' place was perfect for us - we stayed in Bibury for one night. It was warm and cosy and had everything we needed. Chris' communication was great. Would recommend!

The cottage is a short walk from Fairford town centre. All the rooms on the ground floor have underfloor heating and the living room also has a wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. The bathroom is on the ground floor with a shower over the bath. Parking is on the street just outside the front door.
Outside is a small patio and lawn with a garden shed if you bring bicycles.
Fairford is famous for the stained windows in its beautiful Church and has a much photographed Mill nearby. Planters Studio is a delightful countryside retreat, its 1st floor galleried bedroom & bathroom has an exceptionally comfortable cast iron 4-poster double bed within an oak framed roof - certainly romantic, light and airy. Downstairs is a modern fully equipped kitchen, eating and sitting area including a sofa bed. A Welcome Pack is provided. The Studio has its own front door, patio garden & BBQ, with off road parking. A cot is available on request. Dogs/pets are welcome - charge £5/night/pet.
Guests regularly comment in our guest book that the Studio is comfortable, very well furnished and equipped. The Studio is private and, only if needed, we are near bye to help in any way. The Studio is in a 'Golden Triangle' of rolling Cotswold, largely organic, farmland & countryside. Footpaths, from the Studio, flow directly cross-country into gorgeous villages of Cotswold stone and narrow country lanes or minor roads lead further afield for trips by car to pretty country towns and villages.
This part of the Cotswolds we love particularly because it remains very largely working organic farmland rather than a recognised Cotswold destination - like Burford. The near bye villages without exception are all very attractive, most have a pub that serves food from good to restaurant standard. There is a network of footpaths linking the villages. We are happy to recommend our current favourite restaurants and other places or activities of interest.
  • Highly recommend this diamond of a place to stay . It is a true hidden gem, which is highly recommended. All the touches of home and great style !!

  • Dougy's and Jackie's studio (much bigger than you would think) was perfect for a relaxed base in the Cotswolds. From the birds feeding just outside the door to the well equipped kitchen, meaning you could easily eat in and out. My travelling partner said the four poster bed was one of the best nights sleeps she has had. All in all, a little piece of paradise just 90 mins from London!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Dougie & Jackie’s studio apartment. It had everything we wanted and more. Great location, just a short drive away from lots of local villages! We enjoyed all of the suggestions that we’re given to us- they did not disappoint! A great little get away!

    Melanie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for long walks and visits to the surrounding towns and villages. The studio itself has everything you need and more. Whilst we only stayed for 2 nights, we had a fabulous time in the Cotswolds. Dougy and Jackie are very kind and good hosts. Everything you need is included - basics in the fridge for a nice breakfast the following morning, books and guides to help guide you around and a lovely presented studio, with a great close view of the bird table outside your window - oh and a very comfy bed! Thanks Dougy and Jackie and hope to see you both and chutney in the future again.

  • Dougy, Jackie and Chutneys place is absolutely fantastic to have a peaceful get-away. It had great facilities to make our own food. The breakfast selection was a lovely touch and they were full of suggestions on where to go and eat. It was clean and tidy. And the location was great for the surrounding villages. Can't recommend enough.

This beautiful, one-bedroom, 1-bath, 17th Century bothy, originally built to house cattle and a herdsman, has been lovingly converted into a luxurious and romantic bolthole for 2. Just a few minutes' walk from a local pub, with a roaring log fire and garden, and Arlington Row Cottages and 10 miles from Burford
As you pull through the wrought iron gates and up the driveway of Arlington House, a stone’s throw from the popular village of Bibury, you’ll see the Bothy straight ahead. At first view the Bothy seems like an unimposing Cotswold stone barn. However, the moment you open the front door you’ll immediately realise you have chosen a luxurious and perfectly proportioned Cotswold bolthole for two. This old stone bothy was originally used for cattle over the centuries and has recently been converted. It now offers a light, bright and stylish accommodation for two. Arlington was first mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and was for centuries a village known for cloth making. Arlington village and Bibury village sit side-by-side, separated by the River Coln, a tributary of the River Thames. The village’s honey coloured cottages are what many visitors regard as quintessential Cotswold, with many visitors making a beeline to the famous Arlington Row cottages, once depicted on the inside cover of every UK passport, and just a minute’s walk from the Bothy. Arlington was also the ancestral birthplace of John Custis II, who emigrated to the Colony of Virginia and named his Virginian mansion "Arlington" after the village. Arlington Mansion was abandoned, but the name was used again by his great-great-grandson, George Washington Parke Custis (the grandson of Martha Washington and step-grandson and adopted son of George Washington, the first President of the United States), as the name for Arlington Estate on the south shore of the Potomac River near what is now Washington, D.C. Today it is known as Arlington National Cemetery. The 19th-century artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury "the most beautiful village in England" – he probably meant Arlington too!

With a snug double bed set with crisp linens, a fluffy duvet and country-inspired embroidered curtains and cushions, Bedroom 3 is a retreat within a retreat. (Note: a built-in cupboard with hangers is not shown but is provided.) You’ll find two double power points, making this an ideal spot for connecting devices, working on a laptop, reading or relaxing. Off the landing: Bedroom One Overlooking the front of the house is the king-size, master bedroom, with its relaxing tonal hues and moss green accent. The light-oak bedframe is complemented by an oak headboard, large, 3-door wardrobe (with plenty of covered hangers), bedside chest of drawers and lamps, and a dressing table (with hairdryer), stool and mirror. In addition, the room has dimmable lighting, a long mirror and plenty of space for a baby’s travel cot. You’ll also find an original 1930’s fitted cupboard housing the water heater and immersion tank (please do not adjust settings). The large window, with its wide windowsills, provides a beautiful frame for views of Coln St Aldwyns and the valley beyond. Back to top of stairs and right to: Bedroom Two A pretty and bright, dual-aspect twin bedroom with beautiful views over the cottage’s front and rear gardens and out towards the wider Cotswold countryside. This twin room has two sink-in single beds, a large, 2-door, oak wardrobe (with covered hangers) and an oak dressing table with stool and mirror. With accents of refreshing duck-egg blue, and a gorgeous picture of a hare looking down over the beds, this room is a delightful second bedroom that couples or children will enjoy. Back to top of stairs and left to: Family Bathroom The cottage’s family bathroom is at the rear of the house, next to Bedroom 1, yet still convenient for Bedroom 2. Polished limestone tiling, wood-effect flooring and a window to the rear (with Venetian-style blind for privacy) creates a spa-like space to relax in. With a large, walk-in Grohe shower, full-size bath with mixer taps, heated towel rail, a sink with large mirror and dual-flush toilet, plus a small selection of toiletries, there’s everything here you’ll need for your stay. Outside Meadow View is framed by a lawn area to its front and large private garden to its rear, affording it a wonderful feeling of privacy. A wooden fence separates Meadow View from the neighbouring Meadow View 2. To the side of the cottage is a secure wooden gate leading to a gravel and concrete path around the back of the house. It’s in the back garden where the cottages’ magic really comes alive, thanks to the meadow of the adjoining Williamstrip Park, making the garden feel larger than it is thanks to the adjacent, sweeping countryside views. The cottage has patio area outside the dining room’s French windows, with BBQ and garden table and chairs for 6 (available from late March 2019), making it perfect for al fresco dining and relaxing after a day exploring the Cotswolds. Next to the patio area is a garden storeroom, suitable for a couple of bikes/a pushchair and walking gear. (Note: there is an oil tank at the back of the garden, concealed with wicker fencing. Please do not allow children to play near the tank.)
One of the undiscovered Cotswold villages, Coln St Aldwyns will delight anyone who wants to be immersed in the Cotswold countryside, have a memorable Cotswold experience, yet avoid the hustle and bustle of the Cotswolds’ tourist hot spots. As with most Cotswold villages, Coln (as the locals call it) is steeped in history, with a perfectly maintained, 13th-century Norman church and 17th-century coaching inn, the New Inn (due to open early Spring 2019). As you stroll around the village, you’ll find endless photo opportunities to capture beautiful, honey-coloured, Cotswold limestone cottages backed by pastoral, rolling countryside. Meadow View is an immaculately decorated and maintained, bright and airy cottage, with lots of pretty windows affording views on all sides, sweeping across the Williamstrip and Hatherop Estates - acres of meadow, parkland and farmland - and the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln. At the end of your day exploring the Cotswolds, return to Meadow View and Coln St Aldwyns, far from the madding crowds, with easy parking, peace and quiet and an immaculate and cosy home-from-home.
  • This cottage is super comfortable and in one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds! The house seems almost brand-new inside. The beds were really comfortable. Beautiful, big bath sheets. My teenagers loved the big smart TV. Kitchen has everything you need and a proper oven that cooked crispy pizzas. Extendable dining table if you have a big crowd or friends staying next door. There is a beautiful playground literally outside the front door (across street). The post office is perfect for quick supplies and coffee. And The New Inn pub is one of our favourites! A perfect stay.

  • Beautiful house, very spacious and clean, and equipped with all required amenities. Tucked just off the main road so very quiet and private, with a large garden space at the back and an outdoor dining table perfect in good weather. Excellent location as the village is beautiful with nice walks, and easy to get to other nearby villages by car. Great host, sent many recommendations for walks, pubs and other useful information. Very easy check-in and check-out.
