Places to stay in Queen Camel

Places to stay in Queen Camel
An idyllic countryside hideaway set amongst the rolling hills of Dorset, just two miles north of the historic market town of Sherborne. Escape to our cosy, converted barn and relax in the lovely gardens. Peace, quiet and beautiful surroundings await. There is wifi and netflix for entertainment in wet weather as well as a number of games and a library of books.
Our barn contains a master bedroom with double bed (4'6" × 6'3") and a electric blanket, a bunk room sleeping two young children (the bunk beds are only 5' 9" long), a living room with small kitchenette (with microwave/ combi-oven, fridge and two electric rings) behind cupboard doors, and one bathroom with bath and shower. There is a travel cot and a high chair for babies. The Barn is separate but in view of the main house and has ample parking space outside. We have a prize-winning herd of grass-fed Dexter cattle grazing in our fields. People have commented that our beef tastes like it used to, and that it is more delicious than any other beef ever sampled. Joints, steaks, stewing steak, mince, burgers and sausages are available (frozen) to our guests if ordered in advance or on arrival. We can now also supply pork breakfast sausages ( plain or with honey and apple) and pork chops from the pigs in our woods.
We have wonderful views over Dorset Wildlife Trust land and open countryside and there are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in all directions. Indeed, the woodland and hillside walks were rated the number one Top Winter Walks by The Times in December 2016. Our village pub The Mitre is only 10 minutes walk away and serves very good food. There are many other pubs serving excellent food nearby. Sherborne Golf Club is situated at the top of our hill, just above the house. The charming market town of Sherborne is only two miles away. It boasts a range of local shops, cafes and restaurants as well as two castles and the beautiful Abbey, with some of the finest fan-vaulting in the country. Yeovil, with its Fleet Air Arm Museum, is six miles away. Further afield are Frome, Bath, Glastonbury, Street with its shopping village and the stunning Jurassic coast as well as the historic town of Dorchester. This is the perfect spot for visits to the many local schools in the area.j

  • Wonderful spot to stay with beautiful surroundings; an ideal getaway for peace and quietness with lovely walks and a cosy little night in. Less than a 10 minute walk to the pub which is great and a lovely star gazing walk too as there’s so few lights....highly recommend to stay!

Nestled at the foot of historic Cadbury Castle in beautiful South Cadbury, our home is perfectly situated for anyone looking to escape the rat-race and recharge their batteries. Great local walks and fabulous local pubs within walking distance. A fabulous place to break a journey if you're travelling from London to Cornwall as we are pretty much half way. However, be warned, those that have done this so far, always wish they were staying for longer, and sometimes they do!
Castle Farmhouse Cottage is in South Cadbury, Postcode: BA22 7HA
There is so much to do and see when you base yourself in South Cadbury. With beautiful local walks and pubs conveniently situated to refresh yourself along the way, there's no need to drive anywhere. However, if you feel more adventurous there are a plethora of local National Trust properties to visit: Stourhead, Montacute, Tintinhull and Lytes Cary to name but a few, are all within easy distance. The historic cities of Bath and Bristol are within an hour's drive as is the the stunning Jurassic Coast. Much closer to home are the local ancient towns of Sherborne and Castle Cary. And if you're into the contemporary arts, look no further than beautiful Bruton 15 minute's drive away to visit Hauser & Wirth's gallery, garden and restaurant.
  • Our second visit here. Such a comfy and cosy place to spend the weekend catching up with a friend accompanied by a roaring fire and a glass of fizz or three. Henrietta is super welcoming and helpful, there’s lots to see and do around the place and the beds are really comfortable too. We’ll be back!

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really outstanding Airbnb. Percect location, delightful accomodation. Great welcome from a lovely host who added some thoughtful touches for us. We will definitely return to explore the area further and enjoy another stay at this fantastic place.

    Richard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here for the weekend. It is a lovely cottage and Henriette was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable and had enough wood for the fire, despite the bad weather. There were lovely little touches like chocolates, prosseco and flowers. Would definitely stay again.

    Nailah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I booked a mini break away to Cadbury Cottage at rather short notice. It was our first experience using Airbnb and it was a fantastic one! Henrietta is a very personable host and we felt extremely welcomed to her home. She had also stocked the cupboards for us with plenty of treats to ensure that we would not go hungry! The property itself is absolutely delightful, very clean and is modernised tastefully without losing its historical charm. The only 'negative' was that we had to leave! However, we cannot wait to return!

    Sam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect way to welcome in a new decade around the cosy log fire.

    Amanda2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Impeccable. Flawless. Perfect. Cosy. Warm. Hospitable. Didn’t want to leave. Could happily stay for a year — much less a weekend. Thank you for providing such an amazingly practical and profound place to rest my head. It was all that is great about Britain. Fireplace with logs, comfy couches with proper pillows, cups of tea with biscuits, and copies of ‘Country Life’ to peruse. A super stylish bedroom with plenty of room to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. This place is totally fab — can’t say enough about I thoroughly enjoyed it. Henrietta has outdone herself only made more perfect by her genuine and extraordinary hospitality. Thank you again ever so!

    Michael2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Henrietta's is the perfect place if you are looking for a peaceful home from home cottage. It is in the middle of nowhere, which is what we wanted, but there is an excellent pub on the doorstep. The cottage is so dog friendly you could believe you were at home and we were even loaned a dog bed as I'd forgotten to bring one! Comfy human beds, a great log fire and the best hospitality.

    Elke2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Henrietta’s. Communication was great and the house was lovely and clean. A wonderful homely feel. Highly recommend!

Some fantastic local places to eat, walking distance and staggering distance! Fantastic views, newly built, tastefully decorated and an amazing rainfall showers that’s not the size of a small cupboard! Drop us an email and we’re happy to advise where to go & what to do. Although self-catering, the room always is stocked when you arrive with with Tea/ coffee/ milk/ washing-up liquid/ tea towel. There are basic cooking facilities in the kitchenette - fridge, microwave, cooker ring - with all the cutlery, plates, glasses etc you’d need.
Close to both Sherborne and Yeovil, but tucked away in a quiet hamlet you’d never know how close you are to local towns. Peace and quite guaranteed - possibly the odd cockerel or cow noise - but our guests frequently tell us how well they sleep.

  • In terms of the space and interiors I think the bathroom was probably the highlight but it was honestly Jo and Trevor's kindness and hospitality that made my stay nothing short of exceptional.

  • It was a great week I spent in Jo&Trevor's place. Really nice space that helped you relax. Close to the main town but in a quiet village where you can relax. Really good service the room was spotless when I moved in. Both very welcoming and friendly. Would stay again.

Double room. In rural country cottage. Over looking the McMillan way. Walkers paradise. Only five minute drive from 303. Easy reach many national trust properties. The coast. And Cadbury castle. Peaceful location. Lovely room in typical country cottage. Own bathroom with shower. Horse riding available upon request. We have two dogs and a cat. And due to the rural setting also the odd spider and cobweb here and there . Though I will try and evict them from your room before you arrive.
Cosy double bedroom. Wooden floors. Country side views. Nice private bathroom.
Set in quiet rural Somerset over looking the McMillan way . Ideal for walking. Sightseeing. And the historic towns of sherbourne. Bath and wells.
  • Nicky and her father John are warm and welcoming hosts. Their home is by the countryside, very quiet when we arrived. Parking is secure and on site, a few seconds walk away from the house. The bedroom is clean with ample storage space. Good internet connection throughout. The double bed is of a soft to medium firmness. Bedding is clean and fresh. Hot and cold beverages can be accessed via the kitchen. We had access to our own bathroom which was next door. Very clean. A light continental breakfast is provided for guests by John. We were unable to have any as we had to make a dash for work. There is a working farm nearby, so farm vehicles can be heard in the morning which is normal for the countryside. The gardens are beautiful - a great sight first thing in the morning. John and Nicky share their home with 2 dogs, one which can be over-excited but calms down very quickly when familiar with the guests. The cat is very quiet. A local shop and pubs are not far. Queen Camel is in close proximity of Yeovil. Nicky and John provide great information regarding local activities. Nicky also provides horse riding experience, please refer to listing for further details. We really enjoyed meeting our hosts and are grateful for their genuine warmth. Thank you for looking after us. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Xx

A lovely airy and bright 2 bedroom , 3 bath semi detached house, newly built in November 2018 . We are 10 minutes away from the Yeovil town centre in a car , close to Pen Mill Train station and Yeovil junction to go to the coast, Bristol London and Exeter. Local shops and amenities and close to Yeovil country Park and Yeovilton Naval base .
I do work full time and have a little Shih Tzu called Alfie ( Alfonzo ) who is very very friendly , pretty much like a cuddly bear . I will be home most evenings from 730pm as i tend to go to the gym every night. The odd occasion i will have a night off . You will need to fend for yourself and provide your own food for lunch and dinner, except for breakfast there will be coffee , tea , juice , bread for toast if you wish to use it, help yourself in the morning if you wish to do so. The bedroom is a double room with bed hanging rail and draw space . You will have use of the master bathroom and the downstairs if you wish.
The area is a new build development and house was only finished in November last year . We are on the east side of town, We are close to the country park, lovely walks and very close to the Yeovil town centre .10 minutes in a car and 30 minutes walking , there are regular buses going into town and taxi services if you aren’t driving. We are close to the train station again about 10 minutes away by taxi or your own car, which takes you to the coast, it is also just a 30 -40 minute drive to weymouth and other beautiful spots. Pen mill that goes to Weymouth and Dorset. Yeovil junction which takes you to either Bristol Or London or Exeter. And we are close and a good side of town to get to yeovilton naval base .

This is a single room with private en-suite sink and toilet but next door to a shared shower-room. It is on the ground floor close to the exit door and the kitchen. There is a ramp to this exit door for easy access.
We are a varied household with a range of ages and people from various walks of life. Visitors say the house has 'happy vibes'! The outlook of the room is pleasant especially across the grass. We do our best to keep the patio clear of weeds but they love living here too.
This is a great area for visiting all around. There are a number of places of special interest and some lovely little villages. We are lucky to a have a great pub for meals in walking distance.

  • We stayed at the Cowshed from 24th December until the 28th December 2019. When I contacted Jan, the host, to check availability, she replied so quickly and this was the same for every point of communication leading up to our stay. Just before our visit, Jan emailed great directions and they even had a beacon flashing outside the gate, so we knew we had arrived. Not only was the Cowshed extremely clean and lovely, but Jan had put up Christmas decorations and also fairy lights, which was such a welcome site and put us in the festive spirit. In addition, there was a wonderful hamper with fizz, cheeses, oat cakes, biscuits and mince pies, etc. It was a lovely touch. The kitchen and bathroom were so clean and decorated to a high standard. The lights in the bathroom and walk-in shower came on automatically, and the other lights had dimmer switches. The beds were so comfortable and the wardrobes had plenty of hangers and there were chests of drawers too. The under floor heating made it extremely cosy, and the facilities were just perfect. There was an uninterrupted viewfrom every window, we could see the chickens roaming in the paddock and the sheep grazing in the field. For a visit in the summer I noticed plenty of garden furniture and a bbq. We really recommend the Cowshed as a lovely place to stay, and we will be visiting again, soon. Marcelle and Peggy

  • Great place, would stay again!

    Robert2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Cowstall is an amazingly comfortable place to stay with everything you could possibly need. The beds are extremely comfortable with lovely bedding - the towels were thick and large which we loved! The kitchen is well equipped with good quality equipment - having a recycling system was useful to have too. There is a washing machine and dryer across the yard and a hanging area to dry clothes if you don’t want to use the dryer. It was great to see the chickens grazing in the paddock outside the Cowstall - they come running up to the fence when they see you standing there, then quickly lose interest when they realise you don’t have any food for them and that you only want to take photos! Jan had left flowers, fruit, biscuits and milk for us which was a very thoughtful touch, thank you. We would definitely recommend the Cowstall - it is a short drive away from lots of attractions that Somerset has to offer. Would love to come stay again in the future.

    Katie2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jan's place is a wonderful, tranquil, well put together place to stay for couples of a family. We loved waking up and watching the chickens going out from our window and sitting comfortably with a cup of tea watching the beautiful morning view. The children loved running around in the yard and garden and having a comfortable to themselves. We were close to lots of lovely places - we need more time and want to come back!

    Rebecca2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jan place is fabulous. Stylish, warm and many thoughtful touches. The beds the sofas all very comfortable. Jan has made her olace look and feel special and homely.

  • The Old Cowstall is even more cosy and comfortable than it looks. This comfort is added to by how friendly, helpful and welcoming Jan and Paul are. Our children loved the outdoor space and the chickens, dogs, sheep, swings and outdoor toys. This was a beautiful base in a lovely party of the UK. We will be back. Thank you!

Welcome to Walnut Cottage, a cosy, a self-contained cottage with en suite accommodation and a very comfortable bed. The cottage is very private and peacefully situated in our garden looking out over surrounding fields. Local towns of Castle Cary and Bruton and the A303 are 10 minutes distant. We are surrounded by wedding venues and will provide additional accommodation in the house by arrangement. If attending a local event, we suggest advance booking Castle Cary based taxis (see guide).
Walnut Cottage is the perfect place to relax in your own cosy, comfortable retreat with kind size double bed and en suite bathroom and shower. There is a step ladder to an upper mezzanine space, filled with cushions to make it the ideal space to chill out. You will have separate, private access and an option to either hideaway or enjoy a continental breakfast for an extra £5.00 per person. There is a toaster and small fridge in the cottage. A larger fridge is located in the garage for the use of guests.
North Barrow is a small village 2 miles from Castle Cary and the same distance from Sparkford. The village does not have a shop or pub, however the excellent Red Lion pub in Babcary is 10 mins drive - or a 20 minute cycle. North Barrow is very well situated, less than 10 mins from the A303 with a range of interesting and different local towns - Castle Cary and Bruton are the nearest, with Wells, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Wincanton and Yeovil all within a 20 minute drive. We have lovely walks and cycling routes which you can enjoy from the house or a short drive to the local country pubs which serve the local ciders and cheddar cheeses, including the Red Lion at Babcary (10 mins drive or 20 mins cycle), which serves good food - including take-away pizzas. There are plenty of historical sites and art galleries on our doorstep, including the famous Hauser and Wirth Gallery (and good restaurant) in Bruton. Popular local destinations are Wells, Glastonbury, Clarks shopping village in Street, the Kilver Court Designer and Mulberry outlet in Shepton Mallet, Haynes Motor Museum (5 mins), Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm museum, and the National Trust house and garden, Lytes Cary Manor.
  • Arrived at Walnut Cottage early in terrible weather, Ginnie was straight out with offers of help and to check us in. The cottage is beautiful and kept to a high standard, with lovely little touches all around (especially the biscuits). Games, dvds and the fairy light den made for a cosy night in during Storm Dennis! The bed is so comfy too. We were able to check out a little later too which was lovely! Thank you both for a lovely stay.

  • My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay here on a sunny January weekend. Ginnie and Andrew are lovely and the direction / information prior to arrival was top notch. The cottage itself is set off of a quiet country lane and the area was very peaceful (just what we were after). The interior of the cottage was very cosy, the pictures do not do it justice. It was very clean and welcoming. The cakes and tea making facilities were also very welcome! If you are looking for a quiet weekend away in the countryside then look no further.

    Simon2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy space with everything needed and some lovely touches. Ginnie and Andrew were so kind and accommodating. Check in was easy and we felt settled straight away, we wish we could have stayed longer.

  • We had a wonderful short but sweet stay with Andrew and Ginnie; the cottage was lovely, the perfect location for the wedding we attended at North Cadbury Court. The additional touches in the room were great and Ginnie and Andrew were such fantastic hosts, couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Gertie was the icing on the cake. We wouldn’t hesitate to come here again.

We share this lovely old vicarage with friends who add to the welcome of the house and large garden. We are renovating so there is always something going on though we try to keep it out of the way of guests! The garden is somewhat wild, we do try to keep the weeds under control but they like it here too. This is a room that is virtually all bed! There are hooks for hanging the suit and the party dress. Just about space to open your case and comfortable huge bed. There is a toilet and sink en-suite and a shared shower room along the corridor.
It is lovely countryside with just the right hills and levels for cyclists! There is a pub just up the road which serves very good meals and more eating places further afield.

Our traditional English Shepherd's Hut sits deep in the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. We have created an idyllic escape where you can switch off from the cares of the outside world with nothing but birdsong to disturb your peace. Take a walk around our beautiful gardens and lake, enjoy a dip in our pool, warm up next to the log burning stove or while away an evening around the fire pit as you barbecue your supper.
Our Shepherd's Hut contains a very comfortable double bed, made up already for your arrival, with an electric blanket. The hut is warm and cosy even in winter with the log-burning stove lit. There is a microwave combi-oven and a single gas ring. There is also a fir pit outside to barbecue your supper. We provide tea and coffee and our own apple juice and milk can be found in the large cold box just outside. Our local pub The Mitre which serves good food will give you a warm welcome and is only ten minutes' walk away.. The bathroom is alongside the Shepherd's Hut and contains a shower, basin, loo and a sink for washing up. Towels are provided. Outside, we have a prize-wining herd of grass-fed Dexter cattle grazing in our fields. People have commented that our beef tastes like it used to and that it is more delicious than any other beef ever sampled. Joints, steaks, stewing steak, mince, burgers and sausages are available (frozen) to our guests if ordered in advance or on arrival. We can now also supply pork breakfast sausages (plain or with honey and apple) and pork chops from the pigs in our woods.
Our Shepherd's Hut is situated in one of our fields at the end of the small village of Sandford Orcas. There are wonderful views over Dorset Wildlife Trust land and open countryside and there are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in all directions. The historic market town of Sherborne is only two miles away. It boasts a range of local shops, cafes and restaurants as well as two castles and the beautiful Abbey which has some of the finest fan-vaulting in the country. Yeovil, with its Fleet Air Arm Museum, is six miles away, and Haynes International Motor Museum is also nearby. Further afield are Frome, Bath, Glastonbury, Street with its shopping village, and the stunning Jurassic coasts as well as the historic town of Dorchester. This is also the perfect spot to visit the many schools in the area.
  • Fiona’s Shepherds hut is a little piece of heaven! Comfortable, cosy, relaxing and in the most unbelievably beautiful surroundings - we didn’t want to leave! Fiona is such a kind and warm host, and she looked after us so well. (We especially loved the delicious sausages!) Thank you for such a special and memorable stay in this gorgeous little hut - we can’t wait to come back! Xx

    Anna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona gave us a really warm welcome. We were due to stay in the shepherds hut but unfortunately due to Storm Dennis the weather didn’t allow us to stay there. Fiona kindly allowed us to stay in the barn which was lovely and comfortable. We had a fab meal at the Mitre Inn down the road. We would definitely like to go back to the hut in dryer weather. It is a lovely place to stay in beautiful surroundings. Fiona has made lots of nice touches and is an extremely lovely host. We had a great evening and feel very rested.

  • Lovely little shepherd hut

    Lauren2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly this is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed in.. set in the most perfect countryside setting in the middle of no where.. waking up to the sound of birds really is the dream. The shepherds hut is absolutely gorgeous.. Fiona really has thought of every little detail in this lovely space, and you really do have everything you need. She also has my favourite shampoo conditioner and shower gel and favourite herbal teas! So lovely to see. Although the weather was so so cold and so windy, the shepherds hut was incredibly cosy and warm. And it really is the most beautifully comfy bed I have ever stayed in. I really couldn’t fault this place.. and Fiona was the most friendly helpful host. Thank you so much and we cannot wait to come back to your gorgeous hut!

  • My girlfriend and I spent a couple of days here, it was quite magical, tucked away Into a glorious little valley in the Dorset hills. Cows outside the window, logs in the burner and a really big comfy bed. Fiona was really helpful too, she came to our rescue when we ran out of tea bags and gas for the hob. Thankyou!

  • Perfect little hideaway in the countryside. We loved our stay and felt completely relaxed being in nature. Fiona is a lovely host and made everything perfect for us. The log fire was amazing. Very cosy. :)

    Rebecca2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful one night stay in this Shepard’s hut. It was the ideal place for a quiet and peaceful weekend away. Everything was beautifully presented when we arrived and there was lots of hints and tips of what to do in the hut as well as in the surrounding area. The views were just unbelievable and even though it was a cold night, the fire in the hut surely made up for it and kept us cosy all night long. With the local pub just 10 minutes down the road it was the ideal spot ! We will definitely be coming back. Thanks again.

  • Even though our stay was short, it was sweet. A beautiful, stylish and cosy place to stay. Emma is a wonderful host who quickly responds to any queries. Emma also met us at the entrance despite our arrival being almost midnight. We also had a lovely breakfast to help us with our early start the next morning and over all I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Definitely worth the value

  • You will find a welcome which could not be warmer and a wonderfully thoughtful hospitality. My dietary needs for breakfast were catered for incredibly generously. The room is so very cozy, the bedding marvellously comfortable, and everything is sparkling clean. Whether you prefer to drink your tea or coffee in a fine china cup or a pretty mug, the choice is available. My husband and I could not recommend any accommodation more highly.

  • This is such a lovely little cottage to stay in. We stayed 2 nights with our dog. The small garden is perfectly secure for dogs which is so handy in the mornings. The cottage was lovely and toasty when we arrived back each evening after a day of walking around local towns and walks. Check in was so simple and parking right outside is so convenient.

  • This is a great place to stay. Clean and comfortable. The farm shop is open Tuesday to Saturday, shut Sundays and Mondays.

  • Lovely little home. Easy to find but also tucked away and very peaceful. Nice big bath and really comfy bed. The parking space is great and right by the gate. Red Barn farm shop just down the road is absolutely amazing - we didn't need to go to the supermarket at all. It's closed on Sunday and Mondays from 2019 so we planned accordingly. We hope we can visit again soon.

Wheelwright cottage is our little one bedroom, self contained annexe with its own shower room and kitchenette and dining area. The bedroom has a king size bed. Which is reached by a wooden spiral staircase. We are located in beautiful West Charlton near Somerton in Somerset.
It's bijou but it's comfy and cozy, that's what our guests are telling us. You'll have you own space, separate from the main house. The kitchenette has a fridge, mini oven, kettle, toaster and dual hot plates. Plates, pots and pans and cutlery and all the basic essentials are also available. Towels and bed linen are provided as well as breakfast essentials from the local bakery. The stars are amazing at night due to very little light pollution in the area. We are just under two miles from the A303 and abou 25 minutes away from the M5. Glastonbury is just up the road, And so are Shepton Mallet and Yeovil. Our sleepy little nearest town is called Somerton, which has lovely little shops and a supermarket.
The Charltons are rural and quiet, friendly villages. We have a little shop in walking distance that serves the villages with everything you could hope for and a bit further up the road is our local, family and dog friendly village pub - the fox and hounds. The nearest supermarket and butchers are in Somerton, a beautiful little town in the heart of Somerset.
  • I have no Word to descrive this magnificent cottage and this unbelievable Town, i Will come back ASAP.

    Daniele2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is set in the pretty Charltons family of villages and is a great base to explore this interesting area of Somerset. The interior space is small as described in the particulars on the website but you'll find all you need for a comfortable stay. It's very clean and very warm and the view of the stars each night was an added bonus.

    Connor2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very clean and comfortable even if it is tiny. Lovely location and only a short walk using public foot paths to the village shop. The Fox and Hounds in Charlton Adam is only a short drive away and the food was excellent. Somerton is about 3miles to the west and is well worth a visit. We enjoyed our stay.

    Joan2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cottage for three nights and it was perfect for us while we were visiting Glastonbury , small but really cosy , comfy bed , nice touches with the fresh eggs and bread , would def stay again

    Rob2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This little micro-cottage is gorgeous. The hosts were excellent, couldn’t do enough. There were lovely little touches in the cottage which were a lovely surprise. Breakfast was supplied as well - bread, butter, eggs, jams, tea, coffee, milk (& as I’m gluten-free they’d gone to the trouble of providing gluten-free bread). I Meagan above-and-beyond, especially for the price paid. The bed was super comfy, the shower was hot (the little bathroom is finished to a high standard).. and best of all is the location - so quiet & peaceful. Would recommend the local walk around ‘The Charltons’ using the leaflet produced by the local W. I. & supplies with all the local info.. enjoyed some Thatchers & pork scratchings half way round at The Fox & Hounds!

It was also very convenient to be able to order groceries directly to the house. Overall, my experience was very positive and I would definitely come again. • Excellent flat. Easy access to any of the surrounding area. Great host as well. Lovely quiet place to stay.

    Alex2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places I’ve had the fortune of staying at. Parking spot right outside the front door, a lovely well decorated flat. All the amenities you need, a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable bed and an accommodating host. It’s so close to Yeovil town centre but is still a quiet area to stay in. Very highly recommended!

    Tushar2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cosy, warm, well appointed flat on the outskirts of Yeovil with many nice touches, a very comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. In a quiet residential area, there are countryside views and good walking routes. I was welcomed by host Douglas and shown around. Communication was straightforward and prompt. I would highly recommend this flat and plan to stay again

  • We had such a lovely stay at the Old Post Office. The accommodation and village is charming and Sarah is a wonderful host. The space was perfectly clean and comfortable and the fridge was stocked full of milk, OJ and bread etc. It’s a place which you could easily stay for a very long time! Thank you.

  • The outside space is beautiful and so relaxing with birdsong and every shade of green. A true country retreat

    Susan2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't ask for more welcoming host, Sarah was perfect. The place is incredible, location was excellent, very cosy and had everything we needed. The Old Post Office looks just like the pictures and is full of character and was extremely clean and comfortable. Sarah also provided us with lots of great advice and how to get around. We very much-appreciated the complimentary breakfast bits and bobs in morning. Check in and check out worked perfectly, very flexible too which was great as I had wedding the night before. I would definitely 100% recommend.

    Eugene2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • An amazingly peaceful and picturesque location nestled in the heart of outstanding countryside. Sarah was the perfect host throughout the stay and the accommodation was first class with those special touches you would perhaps expect from a boutique hotel. Lovely cycling routes all around as well. Thank you.

  • Very comfortable - I enjoyed every minute I was there...

    Richard2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s annex is comfy and clean as well as being thoughtfully appointed. The sole use kitchenette was really well stocked with good quality breakfast goodies. Take some of your own wine and nibbles and enjoy the lovely garden in the summer. Scenic drives are in all directions and the Camelot Pub nearby serves great value, delicious food at reasonable prices. We were made to feel very welcome in the picturesque and quiet setting full of history and charm! We were very comfortable and made to feel most welcome, which added to the lovely experience of attending a 3 Day wedding event at nearby North Cadbury Court! The Old Post Office was a delight!

  • We had a lovely weekend at Sarah's place, which is clean and comfortable, set in the pretty village of Compton Pauncefoot. The living room is nice and bright, and the kitchen has what you need to make simple dinners. There are plenty of good walks to do straight out the front door. We didn't try the local pub, but it looked nice enough and is also in walking distance. Sarah was friendly and helpful, with tips and advice about walks in the area.

Converted from an old stable block the accommodation is spacious, quirky light and airy with a distinctive and interesting full length arched window in the reception area. The views are stunning, panoramic and the sunsets are glorious.
The Stables, Hollingthorpe is an old stable block conversion and has a couple of distinct and very unique features - one being an interesting cupola on its roof with a fox weather vane mounted upon that and the other a glorious full length arched window. The conversion is recent so benefits from underfloor heating downstairs and a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom. All lighting is overhead ceiling spots with the addition of reception area wall lights. There is a large private lawned area for Guests with an expansive area of decking directly outside the home.
  • A beautiful spot with fantastic views. Clean, good amenities and perfect for exploring the area. Veronica was a great host, communication was excellent and I cannot fault anything.

  • We booked the cottage at very short notice and communication was excellent with a lovely warm welcome from Veronica. The cottage itself is beautiful. The furnishings and facilities are of the highest quality and spotlessly clean. A great deal of pride is evident throughout the property. There is a very pretty garden area with its own private access. I can't recommend Veronica's property highly enough and would love to stay there again.

We have a single room with en-suite toilet. There is a shower room along the corridor. The room looks out onto the garden and adjoining field.
There is plenty of parking. A former vicarage under gradual renovation - there is always something going on but we do try to keep guest areas tranquil! There are interesting features, photos, pictures and ornaments around. The house is friendly and welcoming. The garden is wild and free - we have tried to tame parts of it though!
Within easy walking distance we are lucky to have a pub serving good meals. There are monthly events including live music held there too. There is also a garage with a small supermarket. We are centrally placed to visit a number of places of interest such as Glastonbury, Somerton (seat of the kings of Wessex) and Castle Cary. National Trust properties, Lytes Cary and Montacute House are also close.

  • Fantastic & comfortable property with great little touches. A real home from home in a beautiful village. Great pub and community shop, with the friendliest and most helpful people. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay... so much so we booked for an extra two days!

    Amy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful in a quaint village. Very quiet & laid back. The cottage is very modern, stylish & spacious. The host was great at responding quickly to any questions & let us know 2 hours earlier than official check in time that the cottage was ready for us. All the little extras are provided, tea, coffee, toiletries etc.

    Karen2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wheelwrights cottage is an absolute gem, set in a peaceful village location. We visited over Christmas with our friends and had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The cottage has all your home comforts and is very clean. We even had a Christmas tree and decorations all ready for us when we arrived. Any communication with our host was answered quickly. We would definitely stay at the cottage again.

    Julie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wheelwright's Cottage was exactly what we were looking for to take a few days break from a busy life. We loved the decor, the open-plan living area, and the way everything was arranged. Such a pleasant environment to cook, relax, eat, drink and chill. Kingsdon is a tiny place, but the friendly village store is on the doorstep and the local pub a few minutes walk. We enjoyed a stroll around the pretty village and ventured a little bit into the fields for a longer venture. We would fully recommend the cottage and are thinking about returning another time.

    Michael2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay, great property and Julian was fantastic!

    Ia2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very nice cottage in a very small village. Somerton is a lovely town and is very close. The house is very comfortable, and the decoration is very nice. They left us bread and milk in the kitchen as well as other things we thanked so much for starting. The attention when we asked questions was immediate. Without hesitation, we would rent this cottage again !!

    Isabel2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Julians house was excellent. There was five of us staying and it was the perfect social space with the whole of downstairs being open plan. We actually commented on how we'd like it to be our actual home. Kingsdon it a lovely quiet village which a good local pub and excellent park for children. Our 18 month old loved it. We'd stay again if visiting and all communication was answered quickly and the house was super clean. Thank you for letting us stay.

    Craig2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very enjoyable stay for two nights. Spacious accommodation with good facilities. Lovely quaint village, which we didn’t have a chance to explore as it was our daughters wedding. Would be nice to return and spend more time exploring the area.
