  • This cosy, guest house is located in a quiet residential area and has all the bases covered as a base to explore this portion of the Republic of Ireland. We shopped at the local supermarket and enjoyed a couple of breakfasts and a dinner prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. We found snacks and breakfast supplies upon arrival as well. The washer was a big help for us because we were there four nights toward the end of our trip.

    Shelly2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good time and would recommend the apartment at any time. Everything was clean, cozy and very well equipped. Caroline welcomed us and was a very nice hostess. The welcome included, among other things, bread, pasta and milk. So you can arrive super relaxed on a Sunday and already has the bare minimum on the spot.

  • Beautiful little getaway perfect stop off point in Portlaoise as is very close to the town. Cosy and stylish. Would love to stay again at some point.

    Amy2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place, in the middle of the countryside without the noise of any traffic. And the call of birds so sweet. It is a place that's a home away from home. Keith has thought of every last little detail. It is so stylish. As for the bed, it was gorgeous. I have a terrible back and just purchased an expensive bed at home that I'm embarrassed to tell people how much I paid. So this is as comfy as that, so that's a good comparison. It was bitter cold with nasty frost and snow, and when we came back from getting something to eat and seeing friends/family, he had even thought of having the electric blanket on for us. He had also left an electric heater there to use. That was so thoughtful on a night like that.

    Dave2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Trish is fantastic, she is a real superhost. We stay a night very spontaneous in her nice and quit house in cause of a delayed flight. We had to cancel our real accommodation in the near of cork and Trish help us with a bed and her hospitality. We are very thankful to her. The room was small, but very clean and nice. The bathroom was also very tidy. In the morning Trish gave us a warm coffee and toast. Everything was fine. Stephan and Lilly

  • Anna and Gerry are wonderful people and great hosts! I had a very pleasant stay and I felt truly welcomed. The breakfast was delicious and tailored to my taste. I arrived in Portlaoise well after midnight and was really grateful for Gerry who offered to pick me up from the bus station. He also took the time to show me around town during the weekend and to drive me back to the bus early in the morning in the day of my departure. I am tankful for this and all the kind guidance they offered during my stay. I highly recommend them as hosts!

    Adrian2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • The room was as good as any (so-called 4star Hotel), I've paid four times as much for. The 10min walk was very accurate, maybe 11mins on my way home :)). The choice for breakfast was great and freshly cooked. The hosts took their time to sit and chat with me and made me feel at ease. I will deff stay there again.

  • After a long journey from Wales it was so nice to arrive at Jason and Erica’s cozy cabin. We were late getting in while having trouble with SIM cards but Jason and Erica made sure we knew where we were going. We walked into the space and immediately felt welcomed and relaxed. The fairy lights were on as well as the heat to warm us up. The space was beautiful, peaceful and clean. We wish we could have spent more time but had to get up early and continue on our journey. We would definitely recommend the cozy cabin if you are going through the area.

  • Such an awesome couple to be hosted by. Very attentive and friendly people. Their residency is in the middle of Dublin and Cliffs of Moher and we loved the location for that reason. Nearby, theres a cafe called “Brew cafe” 5 mins away that had super tasty coffee for a little breakfast or sip and go, there’s convenient stores and neat bars near by, the whole experience was awesome! Maio and his wife made our stay better with a warm welcoming and making us feel at home. The bed was comfortable, our private bathroom was very clean and the amenities added were much appreciated. Would definitely stay again, no complaints at all.

    Grace2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

  • Perfect for a romantic getaway! It is small, but it has everything you need to spend a wonderful time in a realistic Irish cottage. Especially the nice evenings with tea and Guinness in front of the fireplace are extraordinary special. Margaret is a superb host, she is super friendly and helpful and she makes you feel welcome. She offered a lot of tips on what we could do in the area. It was a great experience and we totally would like to come back.

  • Excellent get away from it all cottage, a stove to warm the nights, a wee kitchen to cook a meal for two, a four poster bed... All conveniently located in beautiful gentle green countryside. Margaret is a superb host, very friendly and helpful with great local recommendations and knowledge - A wonderful rustic retreat.

    John2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place just as described. Friendly host who left us a bottle of wine and stuff for our breakfast on the first morning there. It’s out in the country but that’s exactly what we wanted. Overall great experience staying here!

    Wayne2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was fantastic!!!! The cottage is so great and we have nothing missing. Margaret was super friendly and helpful, although on the day of our arrival, she herself was in great stress. We did not find out until later and she did not let us know. We could always ask for advice and tips, and were never disappointed. The small and large cows in the immediate vicinity, were for us an additional i point. Simply fantastic. Too bad that one week passed so fast. We would like to have stayed longer.

At Brennan's Cottages, we have self catering holiday cottages in Laois which are pet friendly and ideal for exploring the countryside. It is a tranquil, rural county famous for the unspoiled Slieve Bloom mountains (great for angling, golf and horse riding) but there is also the Donaghmore Famine Workhouse Museum and Irish Fly Fishing + Game Museum. It equals the perfect getaway in the heart of the country for all the family or a quiet retreat to relax and unwind with nature.
One of the oldest fully restored thatched cottages in the Midlands.
  • The cottage was everything & more than we expected, we wanted a space to relax and chill, catch up with friends after the madness of Christmas, it ticked all the boxes, loved the piece, quite & tranquility, would definitely recommend to everyone. Thank you so much Margaret

    John2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Margaret's house for 4 nights, the house was fantastic, tidy, great location.I would highly recommend Margaret's place.

  • My husband and I loved this adorable cottage. It was our favorite accomodation during our stay in Ireland. This private cottage offered the peacefulness of a rural setting while also being just 10 minutes from the town with plenty of amenities. The cottage is also ideally located to hop to nearby cities like Dublin and Cork. Highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a country setting while still being close to most major cities.

  • The house was fantastic. It was a large and beautiful property with lovely views. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and spacious. The shower was hot and powerful and the bed was very comfortable. Located in a rural area meant driving/cabs/buses were a must. Hosts had great knowledge of local area for food, drink and transport options. We were welcomed with a lovely breakfast in the morning which was a pleasant surprise. Tea, coffee and biscuits always available. Clean towels and hairdryer were provided without asking. A truly memorable stay and perfect if looking to play some golf or hike the slieve bloom mountains. Marie and Ciara went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and make our stay one to remember. We will come back! Thank you!

  • Thank you to the lovely Marie and Ciara for a fab stay in their beautiful home in Castletown. I needed somewhere comfortable to stay while I was completing a course in Mountrath. I was made to feel right at home from my arrival cup of tea and chat with Marie. I had two perfect nights’ sleep in my en-suite room, Marie also had breakfast set up and ready for me each morning before she headed out for work. All in all I would highly recommend a stay here, if I am ever visiting the area again I will definitely stay with Marie and Ciara again.

  • Our stay at Ciara's place was much too short - we got there in the evening and had to leave for Dublin early the next morning - but we greatly appreciated the beautiful house and Ciara's hospitality. Everything was clean, comfortable, well thought-through; Ciara cooked us breakfast in the morning and made sure we lacked nothing. I wish we had more time to relax and get to know the area - next time, perhaps!

    Carly2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • If we could give this accomodation 6 stars we would. Marc was absolutely lovely and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed (he even left us two beers in the fridge for our arrival and breakfast for each morning in the form of little cereal packets which was a nice touch). The house was quite large with a massive bed, bedroom and lounge room which were all very comfortable. The kitchen was also very well equipped with everything we needed. It was only a 10 minute drive to the nearest shop as well. Definitely recommend staying here - we stayed for 7 nights and still didn't want to leave! Cheers Marc!

    Melanie2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Marc has a wonderful house in a superb area. Definitely, one of the best experiences I had with Airbnb. On top of this, Marc and his dog Freddy were excellent hosts.

  • Marc's apartment is a treasure. It is very comfortable and well equipped for longer stays. The location is ideal for getting away from town life, but is within an easy drive to shopping, restaurants and pubs. It is very quiet and the nearest neighbors are cows and sheep. It is a great place to watch how agriculture is practiced in central Ireland. Marc is an attentive host and takes care of any issues immediately, but respects your privacy. The apartment has everything needed for a very relaxing stay.

  • This was one of our favorites stops on our 5 week holiday. We traveled from Marc's place each day and were able to see so many of the beautiful places in Ireland. If you want to stay in and relax this is the perfect location also. There are beautiful views of the countryside from the upstairs living area. The place has every convenience and is very spacious. We visited Darrow for a meal on the Sunday night and there was a carvery, music and a dance on for the locals. It was great to see all the locals doing some top tapping!!

    Carmel2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute beautiful location in the countryside. This was by far the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The cottage is even nicer than the pictures show on airbnb. I'd recommend Marc' s place to anyone, and would definitely stay there again. It's centrally located in Ireland, if you don't mind driving a little. We visited sights from the coast east, South cpast, and, west coast...all day trips. Nothing was more than a 2 1/2 hour drive. I couldn't be more satisfied.

As featured in YourHome Magazine, January Issue 2017! Why not have a relaxing holiday in this beautiful sympathetically restored Traditional Thatch Cottage, dating back to around the 16th/17th Century making the central rooms of the cottage as much as 400 years old!
HEATING, ELECTRICITY & WIFI INCLUDED. Why not have a relaxing holiday in this beautiful sympathetically restored Traditional Thatch Cottage, dating back to around the 16th/17th Century making the central rooms of the cottage as much as 400 years old! Great care has been taken to keep the character of the cottage. The thick stone and mud walls are wonderfully uneven with little nooks and crannys for books and lanterns. Two lower than average doors (leading off the oldest room in the house) still hang on their original hinges. The sash windows with their deep window cills, flagstone floors, the old hobs by the fire with rare wattle and daub hood, together with the original oak beams, complete the picture. The cottage is set in totally private grounds, at the end of a private country lane about 3 miles outside the small market town of Mountrath. This cottage really has the WOW factor. The accommodation offers, 2 double bedrooms, 1 with original oak beams, bathroom with shower over bath bath, character living room with original oak beams and fireplace with turf burning stove, kitchen/diner with all mod cons ie. dish washer. electric ovens/gas hobs, microwave & fridge/freezer. Utility room with washing machine. Oil fired heating through out. However you will need to light the stove in the living room in the evenings during the colder months of the year. With the very high ceiling in this room that extra bit of heat is sometimes needed to keep everything cosy (especially if you are coming from a warmer climate than ours!) The cottage also offers FREE WIFI. Lovely rural location, nearest town with mini supermarkets, butcher, shops, take aways, postoffice = 3 miles. County town with bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, banks = 7 miles. Nearest motorway junction 7 miles. Nearest railway station 7 miles. Although the cottage location is rural and private it is not isolated. It's in the heart of a traditional farming community with the family farm just a short distance away. Just 15min drive from the lovely Slieve Bloom mountains with popular outdoor activities: walking, horse riding, fishing & golf. Or just take a picnic and relax by a mountain stream. About 1 hours drive from Dublin airport. The cottage has been built on a southfacing slope which means there are some steps both inside and out which may present a challange for people with limited mobility. Not suitable for children. Sorry no pets. The cottage is normally let as a 2 bedroom accommodation suitable for up to 4 people. However the cottage can take a maximum of 7 people as this year we have introduced a new Attic Twin/Family room with en-suite bathroom. This additional room has a double bed and a single bed so can be used as a twin/double for family room. This room is extra and is available upon request when making your booking, it costs only €15 per night for 1 - 5 night stays, 6 night stay and weekly cost are only €85. Please note, as the room is in the Attic space it has restricted headroom in places which is all part of the charm of the cottage. There is a security deposit of €150 for the property.
The cottage is located in a rural townland in the lovely Irish countryside. It's a traditional farming community so watch out for the tractors during summer months. The tractor drivers are usually very helpful and will pull into the nearest gateway to let you pass. The cottage is mostly surrounded by woods down a private driveway, there is one other family living on the same lane. The cottage is a the bottom of the lane so there is no passing traffic. You will have unenviable privacy! Just you and the wildlife. I grew up in this area so I know most of the neighbours in the area and the local people are very friendly but will respect your privacy. The local town Mountrath has everything you might need from food, to petrol, to banking, to kindling and fuel for the fire. It's a functional market town. Abbeyleix is the next nearest town which is a Heritage town, which means it has a more historic feel with many nicely maintained traditional shopfronts and pubs and some lovely coffee shops. The best restaurant for miles around is located here (Mc Evoys). The Slieve Bloom mountains (not very high but we are very proud of them all the same) has some lovely walks, many looped walks and great views in every direction. A new mountain bike trail has recently been opened now too! Co Laois is a very central location in the Republic of Ireland so if travelling further afield is on your to do list, then the cottage is ideally located for daily excursions to many of the main tourist attractions. Previous guests have been to kiss the Blarney stone (Co Cork), see the Cliffs of Mohar and the Burren (Co. Clare), visit Dublin's fair city, visit Glendalough Monastic site (Co. Wicklow) and at a stretch been to see the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim during their visit. It's a little oasis in the heart of Ireland.
  • Staying in this beautiful cottage was a life long dream fulfilled and is my favorite place I've ever stayed in, in the entire world. The cottage well exceeded my expectations, it was like I was living in a real-life fairytale, and I will never forget this as long as I live. I was so sad to leave but enjoyed every second that we spent at this magical property. I hope to one day return in the summer months so that I can take full advantage of the gardens. The grounds and gardens OMG! I had to pinch myself; I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. It started from turning into the long private tree-covered country road that takes you to the cottage's gate that opens onto the most beautiful piece of property you can imagine with this fantastic 400 yr old thatch-roofed cottage. I loved all the little unique spaces in the garden, from the benches to sit upon and soak up all the beauty surrounding you, to the archway inviting you in further to the fairytale garden with more surprises for you to discover while you explore. This property has a variety of fruit trees and berry bushes throughout that you can pick fresh fruit for your morning breakfast if you wish. The cottage it's self was perfection, and I loved every bit of it. It was such a brilliant mixture of old antique original fixtures with updated new modern comforts. So beautifully decorated with just the right amount of decor to maintain the adorable cottage feel without it being overbearing and overcluttered that some will tend to do. I can't recommend this cottage enough, and if you want that authentic Irish experience, then the Hawthorn Cottage is for you! Thank you, Dee, for sharing your exceptional cottage with my son and me. We'll be back!

  • Great location great accommodation and great host. Was such a shame we didnt get to meet Dee though. Had issues with hot water and was fixed immediately which was good. You must visit the local pubs as all the patrons were so friendly and enjoyed our good Aussie banta.... think we have given them a lasting impression of the Aussie way! The local supermarket Centra was also very helpful with our inquiries. Would highly recommend this place for the true Ireland experience. You won't be disappointed.

One of the oldest unspoilt traditional thatched cottages on the rental market in the whole of Ireland. Staying here is like stepping back in time with a little modern twist. A real romantic get away from it all, cosy little cottage.
The cottage is very comfortable and cosy. Very quirky, having two stair cases, half doors front and back, two lofted bedrooms, and a 250 year old cast iron Victorian Range in the Kitchen area which is fully functional. Fire her up and she will not only heat the cottage but you can cook on her as well. Other forms of heating comes in the form of an Everhot range (like a mini Aga) which is used for cooking as well and in the sitting area there is a Optimyst woodburner effect fire place for instant heat! Although the cottage is old to say the least it has all modern facilities such as firdge and freezer, flat screen tv, waching machine, microwave, kettle and toaster, toilet and shower. Guests can make use of the PAY AS YOU GO WI FI dongle. Please contact me on robinsonjohn@live.co .uk if you wish to use wi fi and I will set it up for you.
The Cottage is set right in the heart of the Irish Midlands so having easy access to Dublin 1 hour 20mins, the wonderful ancient city of Kilkenny which is about 40 mins. The historic town of Abbeyleix is but a 10 min drive. Fishing, walking in the Sleive Bloom Mountains just 20 mins away, pony riding, bog walking, ancient castles and traditional irish pubs. Swimming pools and Cinema just a 15 min drive. Or simply stay at the cottage and relax and nip in to the village pub for a little socialising. Don't forget to bring your dog, we welcome your pet here at High Nelly cottage.
  • Overall excellent. Absolutely lovely cottage. Would recommend to others.

  • A lovely quirky cottage in a quiet village with good road connections.

  • Had a grand time at the High Nelly Cottage! Reminiscent of the movie The Quiet Man. You would almost expect to see Sean Thornton and Mary Kate herself. Truly a memorable experience! The Brennan’s Pennsylvania USA

  • such a cosy wee place for a getaway, we adored our time here. Louise gave great tips on walking in the area too so highly recommend asking for her advice on local hang outs and excursions.

  • Very nice rural cottage with lovely homely touches in a lovely village

    Patrick2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage, quiet, out of the way... expect to be in rural countryside with plenty of nice places to walk. The nearest town is about 10 minutes drive from the cottage. Great communication with the host... she gets back to you quickly. WiFi is a little difficult to figure out but cell services works well there. The heating is more than adequate. The shower is not terrific... leave it on “eco” mode and you’ll have the best results. The oven system is one I have never experienced but it is easy enough to figure out with the notes left in the cottage. Sleeps 3 very comfortably... 4 if you don’t mind sharing the double bed. Very clean and it was a nice touch to be able to watch local television (especially in Gaelic). The local pub is nice and the folks in there are good for conversation. Quintessential Irish country cottage. Expect to drive to anything you want to see... it is remote and I don’t know that there is public transportation nearby. Don’t let the proximity to the road worry you... it wasn’t a problem at all. Watch your head going in... 5 feet high. We are very tall and the interior is very spacious. We didn’t have any problems. We would gladly stay here again.

    Chris2019-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Louise's cottage was just what we hoped for for our stay in Ireland. It was all we could have asked for. The cute, coziness of the thachett cottage was the experience that we were looking for in Ireland during winter. Louise, although not there to welcome us was always on hand if needed or to suggest places and the cottage was just spotless. I will be recommending this stay to anyone. 10 out of 10 experience.

  • Portlaoise was a good stopover on our way to the west. There are supermarkets and we could even buy an adapter for the power supply. The room is located in a quiet residential area. It is possible to prepare a hot drink in the room. I liked that you could also sit outside the front door. The breakfast is very rich. The hosts John and his wife are very friendly and incredibly eager to make their guests enjoyable stay. For questions or a casual chat, they are happy to help.

    Stefan2018-08-05T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful location.

  • Joe is a great host, lovely private , peaceful place to stay.

    Kathleen2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and his place were outstanding. If you want the genuine Irish countryside experience, this is a perfect choice. We were 90 minutes from both Dublin and Galway and even closer to Limerick with plenty to see and experience between all of those cities. We loved it!

    David2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house was sparkling clean and full of fabulous amenities (sauna, lots of cooking equipment, TV etc). Location was very serene and quiet but a 10 minute drive into Mountrath which was ideal. Joe was extremely welcoming and helpful and a very gracious host. Thanks again Joe!

    Ellie2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, warm intimate atmosphere. We loved played whit Joe's Scrabble whit our son!! Very clean and beautiful all the places around, Birr castle, Roscrea...

    Franca2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really good stay. The communication between Joe and us was great. The house was clean and tidy. Everything we needed was there. We look forward to come again.

    David2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, we spent 3 nights there. Joe met us late at night and showed us all the important ones. Joe was always available for questions. The place is a bit out of the way, but you can get to all corners of the country relatively quickly. We recommend the accommodation in any case!

    Alex2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Joe is a really great guy. He lives at the house right next door so was available if there were any problems (which there weren't) and he kindly left us everything we needed for a full Irish breakfast on our first morning as he knew we wouldn't be able to get to the shops when we arrived. The place was lovely and clean and the bed was super comfortable. We had everything we needed including internet and kitchen amenities. The shower was amazing - hot and powerful. We didn't try the sauna but that's a nice added touch too. Overall the property was lovely and warm too which was great as I'm a cold person. Additionally I found the bungalow ideal for my needs as I'm disabled; there were no steps to navigate, we could park right outside and the shower was low level so I didn't need to step up into it. We were over in Ireland visiting family so didn't get to do much sight seeing but the views outside were beautiful and would be great for a nature filled walk. It was lovely and dark at night as we were out in the countryside and the sound of the trickling steam nearby meant we slept like babies for the entire stay. We highly recommend Joe and his pad in Camross for a comfortable stay.

Emo is a short drive away which is host to beautiful walks and gardens. There is an amazing cafe culture in the area with a host of beautiful cuppas in Rathdowney, Abbeyleix, Durrow & Portlaoise

Although attached to the farm house it is very separate and private. Built in the late 1800's, the cottage has original deep walls, giving it a very authentic feel, Rose Cottage has all your basic requirement needs met. For those travelling with small children, all equipment available with notice. We have mobile WIFI available. TV has local Irish stations only.
30 minutes from Portlaoise Town. Friendly, peaceful and small village. Beautiful rural public house a short stroll away. Note there is no shop in the local vicinity but stores are available 3 miles, 6 miles or 9 miles away.
  • Rose Cottage is a nice place in a very quiet location with all the basic amenities you'll need on site. The heating system warms up very quickly which is great because it's quite damp and chilly at times. Ann is very quick with responding to questions and Peggy is accomodating and warm also. Overall a nice experience. Thank you both!

    Allison2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was a perfect host. Last minute booking and everything was seamless...from check in to check out! Full kitchen with every amenity. Area is very beautiful and a great central location to tour other areas of Ireland. A suggestion of Castle Durrow was spot on! Beautiful castle with amazing food and service and so very close! We would definitely stay here again!!

    Jillian2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as it’s described. Perfect for a couple of night when you’re on an Ireland road trip.

    Kata2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Delighted! Cozy and warm if needed otherwise sparkling clean! Quick responses and very helpful. Big recommendation for a family-trip. Babycot, lots of blankets+sleepingbag, activity-blanket amd chair for the nearly toddlers yo sit on. B E AU T I F U L backyard and neighburhood in general.

    Rahmo2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, rustic place with everything we needed. All the baby equipment was very useful so we didn't have to bring our own. There isn't much in the area so you do need a car. Good amount of space for 2 adults and a baby. There is a dog which greeted us most of the time but it never entered the Air BnB. Great if you love dogs but we had to be cautious because of our little baby. Check in was very easy too.

    Jenny2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay at the cottage and again not disappointed. Very quiet and relaxing, fire was lighting when we arrived, lovely touch and hosts were also lovely.

    Keelan2019-07-21T00:00:00Z

The Writer's Cottage at Roundwood House is set at the foot of the Slieve Bloom, one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe. They're not particularly high as mountains go but they are beautiful and very unspoiled. We have lots of information on hiking so do call in to us and ask. Other places of interest include: Birr - a beautiful Georgian town half an hour from us with a great castle and gardens. Abbeyleix is also a great town, twenty minutes from here with great restaurants, pubs and shops. Lough Boora is about forty minutes from here and is a fabulous outdoor sculpture park with bikes available for hire and many kilometres of cycle trails.

  • Lovely quant cabin, we stayed for a weekend before Christmas, very peaceful. A lovely way to unwind. Would definitely recommend.

  • This is an exceptional place to stay. The gardener's cottage is small, and a bit tight for two, but well equipped and we loved the wood burning stove. But the rest of the amenities available are exquisite. The main building and outbuildings are fine examples of 17th and 18th century Irish architecture. The private library is a browser's paradise. You should book dinner if you can, and the breakfast too. A good way stop from the Dublin Airport as well.

  • This is the most amazing little cottage on an absolutely incredible estate! We came on our honeymoon and the service and location and hospitality was second to none. We would recommend you stay here in a heartbeat! You should know the cottage is cozy (read perfect for two but a bit small for more) but we loved that! It was like stepping back in time into incredible architecture and attention to detail. Make sure you take time to explore the grounds and have dinner in the main house!! The library is also not to be missed! Hanna will also have lots of trip tips and help you plan your adventures. We cannot recommend this space enough, thank you Hanna and Paddy for an incredible visit and a taste of authentic Irish hospitality! :)

  • We came here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. The writer's cottage is an adorable, rustic little place, tucked away in a private spot a few minutes walk down a path from the main house. The cottage is the perfect size for two people, and it had everything that we needed while we were there -- a hot shower, a little kitchenette, and a comfy bed. As beautiful as the cottage is, the highlight of our stay here was the dinner. There were several courses, each more delicious than the last. It was the sort of meal you would normally only ever get in a fancy, upscale restaurant, except it is served by Hannah's husband in the beautiful dining room in the main house, which just adds to the experience. I highly recommend it. After dinner, we walked back to the cottage, but it was such a nice clear night that we just kept walking a bit. We found ourselves in the trees, in complete silence and darkness. Silence is a rare thing to find these days and is one of the things that makes this place so special. We loved our stay and will definitely be back some day.

  • That was a great week in the cottage ! Hannah, Paddy, and children are very kindly people. The place is very cosy, and the bed is soooooo confortable. The location is good to go all around (we went to Aran Islands, Connemara, Killarney, Galway, Cork, Wicklow Mountains, and Slieve Bloom Mountains, in 3h max (by car)). Hannah is very Hospitable ! Very commended !

  • My husband, my dog and myself all had a great time staying here, the hosts were friendly, helpful and always available if needed! The cottage was clean and cosy, with a lovely multi fuel burner to keep the place warm if needed, as well as a well planned kitchenette to ensure we had all we needed for our stay. I highly recommend a stay here if you're looking for somewhere well located to many tourist areas but also with its own quiet, charming grounds if you were looking to hide away from a busy week!
