As a part of the Lake Ogemaw Summer Resort Association, the Cabin is perfect for a family vacation, weekend away, shopping spree or golf getaway. There is also lake access at the many parks around the lake. Bring your boat with access at the association boat ramp. Lake Ogemaw has great fishing for bass, pike, walleye, and pan fish. The afternoons are open for jet skiing and powerboat sports. No wake hours give those wishing to fish mornings and evenings of calm and quiet water.
Access to the Rifle River is right across the road with canoe and tube rental places in the area. We are also located within a short drive of many northern Michigan golf courses. Lots of shopping just 15 minutes away in beautiful downtown West Branch, the Tanger Outlet Mall or 30 minutes to Tawas and Lake Huron.
We have a friendly neighborhood that will most likely wave to you as they drive by, usually in their golf carts. K-Jacks party store, by the marina, has hand dipped ice cream, beer & alcohol, fishing needs and groceries. It's always nice to sit on their deck and feed the ducks while enjoying the view of the lake.
  • Wonderful place to stay. Very clean and conveniently located to Lake Ogemaw. We stayed at this cabin for an ice fishing trip and we loved it. We will definitely be back in the future.

  • Cheryl had amazing communication and offered some great suggestions to do while around West Branch, or Tawas. Cabin was perfect size! Beautiful back yard, our daughter loved the bunk beds! Would definitely stay again! Highly recommended for a getaway!

  • Cheryl's Place is very cozy and comfortable! My husband and I were traveling up to the area for one night in February. Her home was perfect for us! All the personal touches we would hope to have, she even opened up what was in the cupboards and popsicles in the freezer to us. Due to the very cold weather, we just enjoyed a warm evening watching Netflix and relaxing. The back yard looks beautiful full of trees and privacy. I can only imagine how beautiful to sit out there with a bonfire in the summer! We would highly recommend this home to others!

  • The cabin was great! Clean and fairly easy to find. We felt safe and warm for the night we were there. Would love to come back in the future. Northern MI is definitely beautiful.

  • This was a very nice cabin in the woods next to a lake. The cabin is very cozy it has all the amenities one could want for staying in a cabin. There was a fully furnished kitchen. They had a TV with Netfilx. The beds were very comfortable. The place has tons of plates and cups to use. They are really beautiful also. The furnace is very easy to use. There were icepops in the freezer, though I am not sure they were left for us they still were amazing. Important or guests arriving at night: The house number is nearly impossible to read at night. Make sure you have a picture of the posting as that is the exact same as you would see from the street.

  • I'd have to say the 10.5 hour drive from Virginia was well worth the stay! The cabin was clean, had running water, electricity, wifi and an a very reasonable rate. Lots to do there during the summer, but very scenic and peaceful during the winter, especially when it snows. Cheryl was very responsive to any questions I had. This is by far the best place I've stayed at, including hotels. I hope to be back.

  • What can I say, Jerry is a wonderful host! The description of the Cabin in the Woods is spot on. Jerry went above and beyond to make sure all of our expectations were met and we had a great time. The forest behind his property gave us plenty of land to explore and a chance to escape the noise from the city. The amenities of the cabin made our visit very comfortable. This was the 2nd time staying here and we will be coming back for a 3rd. If your looking for a quiet getaway or a place to relax with friends you won't be disappointed.

  • What a great overnight stay we had. Joelle and Jerry thought about every detail. I am not great at “roughing it” and felt comfortable and relaxed from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed a few glasses of the complimentary wine. The cabin, outhouse and property were clean and well taken care of. The cabin and outhouse were warm, and so charming. We loved our guided tour of the property and cannot wait to return! Thank you!

  • Stayed one night at The Big One and loved it. Nice and cozy!

  • This place was PERFECT for us. We are from the city but often go backcountry camping/canoeing and appreciate this type of air bnb setting. If you want a quiet secluded place to get away from it all, this is the place for you. The cabin was perfect, if you are the type of person who doesnt require much and can live with simple amenities. The dog on the property is very friendly and sweet! The trails literally start the moment you step outside of the cabin. The electric heater and electric blanket kept you cozy if you dont want to use the woodstove provided. When we arrived to the cabin, it was warm and cozy and the TV was playing Christmas music! It was the first snow fall I've seen this year and it was absolutely stunning. Joelle and Gerald are so sweet and personable and very accommodating. We are definitely coming back. 5 stars!

  • Jane and Dallas have a very nice set-up for their Airbnb. The price was amazing, Jane is extremely friendly and accommodating, and the house was phenomenal to stay in. My friend and I went up for a weekend muzzleloader hunt on a tract of public land nearby and Jane even woke up early to make sure we had breakfast. Both days breakfast was super good and Jane made us feel like we were her own boys the whole trip! Strongly recommend this airbnb and will be back in the future. Thanks Jane!

This cabin is ideally situated among thousands of acres of public land near the beautiful Au Sable River - perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. Come and enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer, including: hunting, fishing, riding the trails (snowmobiling, ATVs, etc.), Kayaking/Tubing/Canoeing, etc. A boat launch for the Au Sable River and an ORV trailhead are within a mile of the cabin (in McKinley). Grab a bite to eat and a cold drink at DJs Scenic Bar, also located in McKinley.
The cabin includes one bedroom with a queen bed, one queen sofa sleeper, one bath, a laundry room, and a fully stocked kitchen (microwave, coffee pot/filters, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, etc). All pillows, linens, blankets, towels, dish cloths are provided. There is a fire pit (fire wood provided), charcoal grill and picnic table available for your use. There's plenty of room for trailer parking. Camping trailers would be an additional $15 per night (110 hook-up only). ** Please excuse our mess while we remodel the front of the cabin (adding a covered porch). Pictures to follow once project is completed.**
The cabin is located in Mio, about a mile West of McKinley, in the heart of the Huron-Manistee National Forest. The neighborhood is quiet, peaceful and full of nature. Mio has all of your shopping needs and is about a 10 minute drive. Their shops include a feed store, a general store, a shoe and boot store, a bulk food store, several bakeries, a greenhouse, furniture stores, and a lumber yard, just to name a few.
  • Jen’s Cabin is very relaxing and is very close to trail heads for ORVs and hunting. Everything we could’ve needed was in the house. The fire pit has stocked wood as well which was a huge plus.

  • We wanted a nice relaxing weekend, which is exactly what we got at the Clear Lake cabins. They operate as a resort but (I think) rent out cabins via Airbnb in the off season. Since it was the off season there wasn’t many activities, but it was perfect for what we wanted, peace and quiet. Check in was simple, you’re given a key code. There’s about 6 other cabins on the resort grounds along with a office underneath one of the cabins and a work shed. It was nicely set up, had plenty of kitchen utensils to cook with and even grill outside. Stove, microwave, coffee pot, toaster. There was charcoal, wood, and lighter fluid available for us to purchase and utilize right outside of our door, locked in a bench . Along with a grill and a place to make fires. There’s a convenient store steps away to pick up random food and supplies you might need, if they don’t have it there, there’s stores with larger selections 15 minutes away. The bed was comfy, the showers were hot. Stayed nice and toasty in the cabin. It was also located right off the lake with paddle boats, canoes, etc, so during summer time, bet it’s the best! But, if you’re looking for a relaxing escape in the winter without much human interaction, this place fits. Serene silence in the off season. I never heard from Greg after booking the Airbnb, who was the listed host, which might be a red flag for some. But! I communicated with and met Stacy, who was nice, communicative, and helpful. There was a reported power outage on our way up there but she communicated with me the whole way with updated times for it being fixed. Loved our stay, will be back again. Next time in the summer months to try all the activities.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Clear Lake Resort.

  • We booked this trip one day prior as a surprise for our kids and had such a great time. The location was perfect! We loved the adorable cabins and all the amenities. They communicated immediately to any questions. The cabins were quaint and clean. My kids had an amazing time. We hope to come back over the summer.

  • Great hosts, very accommodating! Great small town with a restaurant and a convenience store steps away. Loved staying here.

  • Awesome place, beautiful page!

    Kelton2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The resort is on beautiful all-sport Clear Lake. The cabins are close to the water. We could sit at the dinner table and watch the loons as they searched for their own dinner! We rented one of pontoon boats and had an enjoyable afternoon exploring the lake. Nearby West Branch offered everything we needed in the way of supplies. The local party store and bar were every bit as "down home" as you might expect. Everywhere we went, the people were very friendly and genuinely seemed glad we were there. We stayed 10 days and we are looking forward to returning soon!

    Doug2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Clear Lake is beautiful and the Cabins are a perfect getaway. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Michigan. Greg, Stacy and their team is very accommodating and helpful!

  • It was a great experience, we had spent 3 days in the lake house cabin very relaxing and first time boating was amazing, top top it all the weather was gorgeous. Thanks Greg and Stacy.

Rustic permalog cabin in the heart of country living. A quick 10 minute drive from Mio in a quaint village of McKinley, this cabin is less than a 1/4 mile from the AuSable River. Close to ATV/ORV, snowmobile and hiking trails. This is a great location to make your annual hunting or fishing "camp". Several sightseeing options in and around the outlying areas that are worth the drive. Please keep in mind there is very limited cell phone service at the cabin; a great place to disconnect.
More photos coming soon!!! I'm still under renovations!! My owner just purchased me on February 14th because she LOVES me (see what I did there). Because she loves me so much, she wants you to have photos of my best me I can be. Please be patient while she helps me gussy up for you.
The cabin is located in the heart of McKinley. There are several other cabins and homes nearby. The cabin is located on a two track road so please drive slowly through the neighborhood and use caution as the road is uneven.

My place is close to Lake St Helen, ATV Trails, The Dream, Nightmare Golf Courses. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, it is a wonderful spot to enjoy a weekend away.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (dogs). I will always do my best to have fresh sheets installed on the beds. Please understand I live 2.5 hours south of the cabin and may not always be able to change out bedding for the next guest. There will always be clean sheets at the cabin.
I am not charging a cleaning fee as some guests may have to put fresh linens on the bedding when they arrive. Clean sheets will always be at the cabin and easily accessible. Flat screen TV with usb plugs for a firestick or whatever streaming video you want to bring. Laptop etc. The cabin has wifi "no cable television" Please be advised that I can not fold a fitted sheet very well. The fitted sheets will be clean and I do my best to fold them but I'm still working out the kinks :) Pet Disclaimer: I love dogs and love that I can offer my guest the opportunity to bring their fur babies to the cabin. I have had a few guest that have had dogs that shed and have not cleaned up after their dog. Please if you bring your dog/dogs, clean up after them if they shed. There is a vacuum/broom/swiffer in the cabin. Please keep in mind that not everyone is pet friendly and if you leave dog hair behind and the next guest is allergic it can lead to an issue for their rental. The kitchen has now been equipped with a stove and oven 7-4-19. Charcoal and fire wood is the guest responsibility, it will not be provided upon arrival. The Weber grill is propane and has a tank provided. The offset smoker is great if you want to bring any meats or fish to smoke. Again charcoal and wood chips are guest responsibility. Hot Tub and Pole Barn Are Not for guest use.
Very close to all ATV and snowmobile trails. St Helen is very off road friendly, you can ride your off road vehicles on the side of the road anywhere in town at the dedicated speed limit of 25mph. Higgins lake and Houghton lake are both a very close 20 minute drive. Hiking trails, disc golf near Kirkland college and Roscommon are also within 15 miles. The Dream and The Nightmare golf courses are also within a short 10 minute drive. If you are a golfer and want to cross an amazing course off the bucket list? Forest Dunes is only a 30 minute drive.
  • Ben’s cabin is very warm and cozy. I would highly recommend it!

  • Awesome place for a great price cant wait to go back again.

    Luke2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ben, was amazing, and it is the cutest little cabin. His patience with this old woman and my requests was greatly appreciated. Things went according to plan as I worked on my book and relaxed. Plus, we live in the country and it is kind of remote, so Nickel (my Shepherd/Husky) was fascinated by all the dogs and people. I had one teeny, tiny problem. There were two small rugs in the kitchen area. They are dangerously slippery. I have had a knee replacement and the first time in the kitchen the rug and I slid hard into the counter. I slipped a few more times before I just stashed them in the corner. We had one little hiccup and Ben was on it fast. Phone reception was spotty, WiFi was strong, TV had all the Hulu and Netflix you could want, and a wide range of DVDs. The cabin was clean, comfortable and more than I had expected. I loved it, the area, the people, and the quiet. Ben was the quintessential host. I hope he will allow us to come back. I highly recommend, THE BEN MAC SHACK. P.S. I think Ben likes golf. Lol.

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and I was very happy! Bens place has everything we could have needed! It was very dog friendly and close to trails which was why we went! There was very little privacy but we made it work forsure, it was a great place!

    Kylie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place! So comfy, cozy and homey! And furbaby friendly which is a huge plus! Very clean and in a cute little neighborhood, where all the neighbors seemed very folk friendly. Awesome patio furniture on the porch, and very comfy bed and couch! Ben also has tips around the house which were both super cool and helpful - along with map printouts of different activities, and a pizza place menu on the fridge for a quick and easy meal. Very peaceful at night, and we had an overall awesome experience! We will definitely be returning. Thanks, Ben!

  • The Hideaway was perfect for exactly that! A weekend getaway from the real world. Beings as it was just my fiancé and I, the studio was the perfect size to stay in while we experienced East Tawas! We arrived on Valentine’s Day, and Annette thought of every detail for her space. She left us the sweetest basket of treats to celebrate the holiday, and the electric fireplace on the wall was just the right touch to feel at home. Being just a few blocks from the adorable little downtown was just right to adventure into the cold and come back to warm up. Her directions for check in and the weekend were spot on! She even had some books and maps of East Tawas, which led us to some great cross country skiing with rentals from Nordic Sports. If you like to wake up to the perfect cup of joe, Suzie’s Brew’s is just a few blocks away. We will definitely be back

  • Very kid friendly cabin. Cabin is supplied with all cooking utensils needed and plenty of linens and extra pillows, and even lots of toys and puzzles for the kids. Great beach area with a shallow swimming area for kids. Our boys age 7, 5 and 3 loved the raft with the slide into the water. Lots of beach toys and life jackets available for use. My husband and I had a great time taking our boys on paddle boat and kayak rides on a peaceful morning lake. Location is very close to Tawas City, which was fun for dining, shopping, and taking a day trip to Tawas Bay State Park.

We expect our cleaners to clean at the same level they would for the Peak Summer season, year-round. d. We pay our cleaners a living wage. They deep clean, wash all the linens and prep each bed, regardless of how many people are on the reservation. If you are truly just staying in as a couple at the Abbott Lake House, and will not need to venture either upstairs or downstairs, we can do so at a reduced cleaning fee upon request. If we can, we will. It's the Freshwater Vacation Rentals positive guest experience mantra. Perspective: a. When a couple is staying at a large house, and using only 25% of it, do they really want the home cleaned only 25%? Of course not. b. When considering how many beds will be used, there are many variables-- Who are couples? Just friends? Family? Do all couples sleep in the same bed? Who snores? c. Yes, sometimes the cleaner will make more money on your stay than the property owner or management company. It is essential to keep the space fresh and consistently cleaned throughout the year.

A small picturesque trout stream flows through the back of our property. Snowmobilers have direct access to an extensive network of trails. Great hiking, birding, fishing and hunting all right in our area.
In winter… Our hideaway home provides access to extensive snowmobile trails that reach throughout northern Michigan. Takeoff on your snowmobile right from our driveway and hit the trails. The garage is set up as a drive through for snowmobiles and ATV/ORVs (garage door on both front and back of garage). We love Cross Country/Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. There are many ungroomed trails right in our area or a short drive to Hartwick Pines or Cross Country Ski HQ provides beautiful groomed trails. We’re only 45 minutes to Gaylord’s Tree Tops Resort for downhill skiing. In warmer months… Fish for wild brook trout in our stream right on our property or for Brown, Brook or Rainbow Trout in the famed North Branch Au Sable River only a 3 minute drive up the road (Kellogg’s Bridge or Morley Rd Accesses). Great fly shops in the area can provide guided floats or rent fly rods and waders as well as provide hatch/fly advice. Several lakes in the area provide great fishing for warm species fish as well. The North Branch is a beautiful quiet river for paddling if you have your own kayak/canoe or you can rent from one of the many liveries on the main stream (several right in our area of the river). Birding is a major Grayling pastime. The area is home to the rare Kirkland Warblers and can be seen in many of the Jack Pine stands in the area (public and private birding tours available in the area). Great ATV/ORV trails and state forest roads are minutes away from our home. We love to spend summer days exploring the beautiful wooded areas on our ORV. In summer, access to the Warblers Hideaway Association heated pool is available for a small daily fee payable to the Association. The pool is a short drive to the other side of the stream. A large park/playground with sand volleyball is also available in the pool/clubhouse area. Endless forest hiking/snowmobile trails on state and private land are all around our place. These are great for exploring nature, birding, or spotting wildlife. Although you can swim in our stream, it is a cold spring fed trout stream. Higgins Lake State Park is one of our favorite short outings for a sandy beach with calm warm clear blue water.
  • Dustin's place is a great place to stay for a vacation away from the city. I went with some friends and we had a blast, there was more than enough space for five people, we would definitely stay again; the home was very clean and included lots of great amenities.

    Anya2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dustin communicated quickly and answered all of my questions. The space is large and clean, accommodating our group of 6 adults and 1 kiddo no problem. Plenty of toys for the kids and nice and comfy furniture and beds for the adults. This space was perfect for us and so affordable! Dustin even checked in on us during our stay which is so thoughtful! We had a great time cross country skiing nearby!

  • This cabin in the woods is a quiet and peaceful place to recharge and getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are great little restaurants in the area. We ate at Big Bob’s and Main Street Pizza in Hale. Both were really good! We went hiking in the Huron National Forest and it felt like we were the only people out there. Aaron is a fantastic host; he is available and a great communicator. The cabin was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, the living room was a cozy place to relax and watch TV. It was nice being just the two of us and having the comforts of home, versus a hotel where you have to deal with noise and not have every comfort from home. We would definitely recommend a visit!!

  • My husband & I decided very last minute to go up with our dogs to relax & that we did! Super relaxing cabin & space, our dogs absolutely loved it! I went into work on Monday feeling like a new person because I felt so rejuvenated.

Cottage on 4 acres with 400' frontage on Mainstream Au Sable River. Conveniently located on a county road 7 miles from town of Mio. Porch with a swing and a large deck offering superior view of the Au Sable. Firepit and bench at the river's edge. Woodsy location with spectacular fall colors. Cottage interior consists of 3 bedrooms, 3/4 bath (shower only, no tub), fully equipped kitchen, dining area and a massive brick, dual-sided fireplace, a focal point of the living room.
Although you will probably want to spend most of your time exploring the great outdoors, either by land, river or lake, you will return to a comfy, nature-inspired cottage decor, with all the amenities of home, including wi-fi, internet, cable tv, over a hundred DVDs, and lots of board games for the times you just want to hang out at the cottage and just relax.
Mio is a small, mid-Michigan town showcasing ways to enjoy the Au Sable River, including canoeing, tubing, rafting, fishing and swimming. Mio is also home to a small Amish community. So don't be surprised if you see a horse and carriage or 2 while driving about. There is a great Amish bakery a short distance from the cottage. Pies, breads, cookies and especially yummy cinnamon rolls are perfect to munch on while watching tv or to enjoy with morning coffee or tea at the cottage. The wooded areas around the cottage are home to abundant wildlife, including deer, coyotes, raccoons, porcupines, turkeys, eagles and bear. Please be mindful not to leave food unattended on the deck or outside near the house where one of these critters can smell it. They can get aggressive and destructive when it comes to food.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay here. We came to give our son his first experience with fishing and succeeded at that. I had some pretty high expectations based on the reviews others had left and was not let down. In fact we found it was better than expected and had a beautiful family vacation. Everything from the cleanliness of the site, the ease of check in and use of the place to the amazingly thoughtful touches throughout lent to the marvelous experience we had here. It is cozy and relaxing, quiet and peaceful but also close enough to town to where if you forget something you can figure it out. Scott and Vicki also had some nice recommendations as well and were very helpful. We will be keeping this location in our minds when planning future fishing trips.

    Jonathen2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! Right on the river, the home has anything you could need, and the tranquil setting was a much needed get away. We would recommend this for anyone looking to get away from it all and enjoy what the river has to offer. Their home far exceeded any of our expectations. They even had a panini press! We can't say enough positive things about this cottage. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

  • If you are looking for a clean, cozy and comfortable location to enjoy nature and some tubing or kayaking, this is the place!! Our family enjoyed the location and the homey feeling. We also took a nice ride on tubes, down the river to the home with the help of the Parmalee Trading Post - Mark and Zach. They picked us up, provided the tubes and picked them back up at the cabin. Great overall vacation experience!! Highly recommend.

  • Lovely location away from it all! Nice beds, clean and open space for my wife and I to enjoy a holiday get away. I also loved their kitchen for cooking. I would recommend bringing an AWD vehicle if you plan to go on the winter like my wife and I did because the road is seasonal. Otherwise I only wish we could have stayed longer.

  • My dog and I loved this place. There’s nothing quite like being in a forest in winter, hearing the trees creak in the wind and subzero temperatures stealing your breath. We had a blast exploring the area around the cabin, following deer tracks into the woods and feeling miles away from everything despite the highway being only yards away from the door. At night, stepping out and just looking up—thousands of stars in the sky. Make no mistake: This isn’t a mansion with a finished basement and a hot tub or a trendy canvas tent perfect for an Instagram influencer. This place is a little out there, but in a good way. If you love the idea of going outside, though, Tim’s cabin is a steal for the price. On top of that, Tim himself is super helpful, friendly and responsive. If you’re on the fence about this place, just go for it. It may be “rustic,” but it’s the real deal.

  • Tim was a great host and easy to communicate with. The cabin was clean and the property was really nice. Close to town with lots of public land nearby just as described. If we find ourselves in Mio again we will definitely consider staying here. Thanks Tim!

  • This cabin granted our group an amazing weekend. It was seclusion and privacy was exactly what we were looking for, yet town was just 10 minutes down the road for supplies. It offered a cozy atmosphere stuffed with plenty of indoor and outdoor activities.

Take time to unwind in the woods up north. Our cabin sits in the woods and is surrounded by thousands of acres of state land. Hundreds of miles of trails for ATV and snowmobile riding in the area. Within 1.5 miles of the North Branch Ausable River and 3 miles of the Ausable River for fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Approximately 20 minutes to downtown Grayling for all of your dining, shopping and entertainment needs. After the days activities, unwind by the fire pit and take in the stars!

  • Awesome little cabin off the beaten path. Surrounded by beautiful trees and a creek. Great place to go unplug and relax. There’s perfect cell phone service and satellite TV if you choose not to unplug. Either way it’s a great place.

  • Great place to stay if your looking to get away from the fast pace of life , off the beaten path , awesome little cabin !!!

    Ashley2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin! Pictures do not do this cabin justice. The cabin was much more beautiful in person. We did not want to leave! Cabin is a bit of a drive from town but that was mentioned in description and we expected it. Snow tubing at Hansen Hills in Grayling was a blast. Trails behind the cabin were beautiful. Call of the Wild Museum and dinner in an igloo at Alpine Tavern in Gaylord was nice for the kids. Had a great stay! Will definitely come back! Thanks Chris!

  • We loved that Markus's house looked and felt like you are visiting your grandparents. It was cozy and unique. The area is awesome for getting away from the city and we enjoyed hiking. I really loved the Lazyboy chair and wanted to take it home!

    Addie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable getaway, near cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails. Nothing too fancy-this is an up north cabin! Kitchen pans, utensils, etc-everything you need to cook a meal. We appreciated that coffee was provided. Great price for a place to stay with our 2 dogs! Markus was friendly and helpful.

    Caroline2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin. Near snowmobile trail. Accommodating and cozy.

    Amanda2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to ride your snowmobile or motorcycle. The sledding trails can be accessed 200 yards away from your front door and they are beautiful and well groomed. It was nice to be able to unload my sled and ride from the front door all weekend. Far less traffic on the trails than farther west. Food, fuel, basic sled parts are available right in town. Local roads are perfect for cruising on 2 wheels. Canoeists and kayakers (sp?) can easily access the legendary AuSable River just a few miles away Markus is an awesome host who goes above and beyond what many host do. The neighbors are great too. Markus knows the area and can answer any questions you might have. My dog escaped (totally my fault) while I was riding and neighbors saw her, kept her, and contacted Markus who rescued her for me. God bless small towns and the values of the people who live there. The cabin is perfect for families or couples coming north to enjoy the scents and scenery. It was clean and ready for my arrival. It was stocked with everything I needed to cook - stove - microwave - coffee pot - it was all there. The drive was plowed and ready when I arrived. We had several inches of snow fall and the drive was plowed daily. I highly recommend this cabin for people coming to the Luzerne/Mio/Lewiston area.

  • Great stay. I would love this place even more as a summer trip. The cabin is a bit small so I would recommend it for a couple and not 4 people.

    Adam2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, quiet little getaway on the lake. All the amenities you could need for a weekend trip Up North. We had a great time fishing, going on the pontoon, and relaxing. Greg was a great host and left us be to ourselves aside from giving us some excellent fishing tips for the lake. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive, fun trip Up North. 5 stars.

    Mike2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, quaint, and clean. Beautiful lake view. Had all the basic essentials. We came in the late fall, and the heater kept us toasty. Small, old water heater— makes funny noises, gets scalding hot, and enough for a quick shower for one person only. WiFi worked well on my iPad, but not on my iPhone X for some reason; host was very responsive. Very spotty cell service (Verizon), which made communication and navigation challenging. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for a rustic getaway.

    Amy2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin 2 is lake front and a good place for up to 4 people. It was sparkling clean and a large deck with chiminea! We loved our time both on the lake and just relaxing in the cabin! Definitely looking forward to visiting again!

    Parikshit2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cabin with lake front view. Loved the deck. Party store and bar & grill within walking distance.

    Brandon2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin very clean and well appointed. There were dog treats on the table for our pup which was a nice touch. They even had a pooper scooper outside! You have everything you could possibly need in this neat little cabin. I noticed that the couch and ottoman are brand new compared to what is on the photo on the website. Bed was comfortable. We will come back for sure!

Cabins are part of an original resort from the 50's. They are small and cozy with a small full kitchen. Shower building 50 feet from cabins. Property is on a good fishing lake. Family and pet friendly.

Hoffa’s Hideaway is a vintage 1930s Northern Michigan lumberjack Cabin that we have restored to its original beauty. A step above rustic camping. It is a tiny cabin 165 ft.² With its own private out house that is insulated with electricity and a small heater. A propane wall furnace is installed in the cabin. The cabin can only sleep two in the twin bunk beds. A private bonfire pit with cooking grate is located in front of the cabin. Trails abound the property.
My property here is adjoining the Huron national forest. The property is very secluded from any other neighbors although, there are two other rentals between 400 and 800 feet away and also my house which is approximately 650 feet away. This cabin is located next to the woods and trails.
  • Great hosts and great little get away! Thank you!

    Kyle2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this little cabin! So small and cozy. The perfect place to relax and unwind for the weekend. It is located near a ton of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. Joelle and Jerry were excellent hosts with great communication and we loved the thoughtful little touches of the cabin. It was so amazing that our dogs were welcome too. We had a great stay and absolutely would stay again.

  • Gerald and Joelles place was such a treat! Nestled back in the woods surrounded by other cabins and nature trails, it was the perfect retreat for my pup and I. We spent time walking trails, sitting out by the fire and cozied up in the cabin! Gerald and Joelle were exceptional hosts, made sure I had everything I needed! This place as all the rustic charm you could want along with some comfortable amenities such as a mini fridge, Keuirg and heated blankets!

Welcome to La-Loon-a! Named after our favorite pair of nesting loons, our lake home is a peaceful place for romantic getaways, rest and relaxation, and small groups of friends. Located in the beautiful Sand Lakes region of Iosco County, we are fifteen minutes away from Tawas City on Lake Huron, and surrounded by iconic hiking, snowmobile, and ski trails. We believe in the magic of this quiet, beautiful place and would love to share our family lake home with you!
This is a listing for our entire family lake house nestled on the shore of Floydd Lake. The house comes with a full kitchen, living area, Roku television, small office/desk space, bathroom with shower, and two bedrooms with queen size beds! I often use it as a work/sleeping quarters in the winter months, but will obviously not be occupying it when you are here. : ) As this is sacred space to us, we are not looking to host any raucous parties or loud gatherings; this lake home is ecclectic, memorable and meant for rejuvenation, romance, and exploration of nearby trails, lakes, and towns. If you are looking for any of that, come stay with us!
The surrounding Sand Lake community is mostly empty during the off season and active between May and September, but there are a few of us who like to stick around for the whole year of Michigan beauty. We are a quick drive away from the iconic Au Sable River, Iargo Springs, and Lumberman's Monument, as well as the adorable, sleepy lakeside town of East Tawas complete with art galleries, restaurants, five dollar movie theater!, and our favorite chocolate shop.
  • A wonderful place to get away from it all! We enjoyed sitting out on the 2 tier deck with our morning coffees with a fantastic view of the water! Everything was so clean and exactly what was shown in the pictures. David is a wonderful host that goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and right at home!

  • As one of the first people to write a review, I must say I absolutely loved this place. It’s a great great location for a secluded time, super romantic for couples and good for groups of 4 as well. David is an amazing host, and ensured that we had food for us, because we arrived quite late. We visited in the middle of winter, and I was able to use the fire pit along with some hot chocolate to make the most of an otherwise cold snowy night. Highly recommended, and will definitely come again if I can!

    Anirudh2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away. Home was clean, cozy and had a beautiful back deck with a great view of the lake. David is very timely with responses and made himself availableif needed.
