  • Absolutely perfect weekend (or mid-week if that's what you want!) break. Beautiful little cabin, warm and cozy, everything you need for comfort and relaxation. Even Storm Dennis didn't stop our trip being spot on. And the friendly deers and dogs 😍 If you want somewhere peaceful and restful this is the spot for you. Bliss.

  • What a fantastic place!!! A proper, genuine log cabin set in stunning countryside that comes complete with 3 friendly deer that greet you every morning, what more could you ask for! It's the most beautiful, warm, cosy and relaxing place even more so when the weather is a bit rough outside and I slept like a log (pun intended) every night. My pup loved it, I loved it and would definitely stay here again.

    Jonny2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin and it was magic to wake up to the deer roaming outside. Feels remote but you’re near to the lakes, Hadrian’s wall, Scotland, etc. We loved it

  • Lovely stay, great space and location, attentive host. Perfect getaway

    Geoff2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic little place to stay if you want to get away from it all! There’s loads of wildlife in the area, best of all being the friendly wild deer that come into the garden. Staying here is a really unique experience.

  • Great space and great host 🙌🏻 great new year

    Andrew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy wee cabin in an incredible location. We have a very chilled weekend in this secluded cabin. There is so much to see close by, with incredible lakes, walks and Hadrian's Wall. The cabin is a lovely place to come back to after a day exploring the local area.

    Louise2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a relaxing cosy time at the cabin. We’re usually campers so enjoyed the luxury of a fridge and a kettle together with the added little touches of things like, fairy lights, candles and a cookie jar. The bed is soooooo comfy. To wake up in the morning to deer wandering around right outside the door is an experience we will never forget. Being animal lovers it was absolute heaven here for us with the deer, cats and dogs (our favourite was the little b&w cat) the local area is stunning! With amazing walks and drives every way you turn, we ended up not using maps and just wandering around the lanes taking in the scenery. We will definitely be back as there was so much more to see and do In the area than we had time to do in our short stay. Highly recommend a stay here to get away from it all

Bring firelighters. This is a traditional log cabin with views of the Pennines, Cairn beck flows yards away and lots of wildlife. Cosy, but rustic with a large double bed - room for a child if required. Loo (100yds) NO SHOWER Pots, pans, plates and gas hob. Wood burning stove. Dogs welcome More pictures on f/b ‘log cabin glamping’ If you bring a dog could you please make a donation to the local rescue centre. I will send a link.
The cabin is in a beautiful field with a river running through it, trees and wildlife. Truly a chance to get away from it all. You have the cabin to yourself and can explore the site as you wish or snuggle up with the wood burner. Close to Carlisle/motorways/access, yet a world away from everything.

  • Perfect location to stop off at on the way up to Scotland. Cosy cabin with a log burner is just what we wanted.

  • Just awesome! And good and private.

  • New river and nature development - very interesting, lovely cabin and very private..

    Barry2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We have traveled all over the UK and stayed in so many different locations and this by and far the best most unique place we have ever stayed. We would recommend to anyone who likes a bit of peace and quiet and a bit of wilderness. Great local pubs not too far away in both Castle Carrock and Brampton. We have been a few times now to both the Riverside Cabins and will be coming back very soon again.

    Colin2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot praise this place enough. Absolute hidden gem! It looked gorgeous from the pictures but as we pulled up it's even more gorgeous in real life. We took our reactive dog with us, and although the other 2 cabin guests had dogs we were far enough away with plenty of greenery etc in the middle of the field that it wasn't an issue in the slightest. The cabin inside is basic but with lovely touches such as little wall hangings and homely furniture. You need to pack as though you're going camping although cups, plates, bowls, cutlery and pans are all provided. The only downside is that the toilet is located at the entrance to the field, which for someone who is scared of the dark is a bit terrifying in the middle of the night. Would be better if a camping toilet was in the cabin/portaloo round the back etc. Overall we absolutely loved our stay, and we will deffinately be back again!

    Jordan2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fourth visit so that speaks for itself I hope. It’s snug, has the comfiest bed and is all so relaxing. We loved watching the rooks dancing on the wind. We got a clear night too, the stars are absolutely mind-blowing.

    Vikki2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. As described completely. Flushing portaloo by enterance, with drinking water and logs to buy (£4 a bag with honest box). Bring firelighters and BBQ tools if needed. Very basic utensils and plates/glasses but more than enough to get buy. If you want specifics then bring them. Location excellent, total peace and quiet, 2 other cabins on site but just in eye sight. Our dogs loved it as much as we did. Great 3.5 mile circular route as recommended by Alexander from behind oub in castle carrock. We then followed with lovely spot of lunch at Blacksmiths Arms in Talkin. Highly recommended cabin and we will be back.

    Rachael2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! I can only recommend if you are after some peace! We had real bad weather but still an amazing time! Everything you need for a short stay is provided in the cabin and the place is really clean and tidy with fresh bedding. We loved every second and definitely will be back!

Stunning refurbished cottage nestled in the Eden Valley and just a short drive from the Lakes. The house is private and boasts lake views from both the bedrooms and the hot tub. Whilst Kiri Cottage has 2 bedrooms if you require additional beds please contact us direct to discuss this.

Edenhall is a small village situated in the heart of the Eden Valley on the edge of the Lake District. Despite being only five miles from the town of Penrith you will feel like you've entered into a secret garden which you won't want to leave.
  • A beautiful, very stylish, comfy stay. The surrounding area stunning, perfect for walking with the dog and getting some fresh air.

  • Great place you won’t be disappointed

    Amy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I had high hopes for the cottage but what met us what better than I could have imagined. We were met by our very polite host and made to feel very welcome. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you're going to need for your stay. The hot tub was warm up on our arrival and the fire place was fully stocked ready to be lit. We're looking forward to our next visit.

  • Fantastic present for my parents they loved spending there anniversary here and will soon be returning!

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts and amazing venue. The place was spotless and the team were most welcoming and there for us arriving. The venue was exactly what we were expecting and we enjoyed relaxing in the private garden in the hot tub each night under the stars with an incredible vue. The hot tub was spotless and already to go as we arrived. The accommodation is 5 star and the log burner in the bedroom really adds to the character and comfort that the property offers. Can't recommend enough! 5 star plus in my eyes!

An ‘Amazing Spaces’ inspired shipping container conversion, entirely off grid, with wood burning stove, solar panels, sheep's wool insulation, beech wood reclaimed flooring and a separate composting toilet. In a peaceful secluded wildlife friendly garden, at the foot of the Pennine hills, the container is 5 minutes walk from Talkin village with a friendly pub serving food. An excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.
The container is ideal for nature lovers, walkers and birdwatchers, with an excellent view of the bird feeders from the comfort of your armchair! There's plenty of space to sit out on the reclaimed wood decking in summer and the wood-burning stove keeps it cosy and warm in winter. It is perfect for star gazing on clear nights in winter due to the lack of light pollution. It is set in its own completely private space (not overlooked by the house) and offers: Spacious decking with seating. Double bed (fresh cotton bedding and natural down duvet). Towels (one per guest). Separate foldaway single mattress. There's just enough room to sleep 3 people but it's a bit of a squeeze! Let me know when booking if you need the bedding for the single mattress. Sink and double gas burner (mains cold water supply only). Crockery and basic cooking equipment, but be aware there is limited food preparation space. Tea, fresh and instant coffee, and milk. Icebox with icepacks. Radio. Books, chess, backgammon, Scrabble and playing cards. Logs, paper and kindling are provided for the woodburning stove. Barbecue (charcoal £2.50 bag). Wifi available near the house, but not in the container. There is a reasonably good phone signal in or near the container. The compost toilet is 20 metres from the container. You can use the bathroom/shower in my house. It is in the porch so you do not need to come through the main house. The house door is left unlocked so the bathroom is accessible at all times, even if I am out or away.
As well as the popular Blacksmith's pub in Talkin (5 minutes walk from the container), there are several village pubs within 2-3 miles serving food. The Duke of Cumberland in Castle Carrock (2 miles away) is dog friendly. Brampton (3 miles) has a range of shops, cafes and pubs and a tourist information centre. There is a friendly community shop and café at Hallbankgate (2 miles). There is an RSPB reserve at Geltsdale, 2 miles away. We are situated on the edge of the North Pennines area of outstanding beauty. A short 10 minute walk takes you up on to the fells where you will get views over the Lake District and the Solway. Other attractions include Talkin Tarn, Lanercost Priory and Birdoswald Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall. There is a lovely private hire swimming pool just 3 minutes walk up the road. It's called Ullerbank pool (prebooking online required).
  • It’s perfect !

  • The shipping container was great! Very cosy with the fire on and I would definitely recommend it to anybody wanting a secluded get away!

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and fantastic location! Fresh homemade cookies and milk for us as well! The fire kept the place so toasty warm, the outside area was lovely and you are on the path for so many walks. 10/10 would recommend!

    Sammy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little stay, we wanted to just get away from the world and enjoy some time together over Valentines and that’s exactly what we got! Cosy space, comfy bed, loved the log burner, the home made biscuits were so tasty - lovely touch thanks Sue. Watching the wildlife this morning over breakfast was the icing on the cake. Would definitely return!

    Maisie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bigger than you might expect and the log burner keeps the container toasty warm. Really comfortable bed and a calm, peaceful environment. We enjoyed the sound of owls by night, and the sight of a wide variety of birds by day. Sue was very accommodating of our late arrival, and had the log burner going for us. It’s good to have the use of the house bathroom at any time, and it’s only a minute’s walk away. Much appreciated!

    Sharron2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had Such a lovely stay at Sue’s container. Is is so cosy and the perfect place to relax and switch off! It’s spotless and got everything you need with some great walks and a pub nearby which serves lovely food! The delicious biscuits were a lovely touch too! :) thanks Sue.

    Lauren2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Already planning a second visit. A perfect getaway location. We had a lovely winter night, chilling out in front of the log burner, drinking tea and eating homemade biscuits. Definitely left feeling more relaxed :)

    Viki2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stay in heaven. The containerhouse is really cosy and homy (with an easy woodstove and a tiny but practical cooker). Sue is definitely a superhost. It is no problem at all for going to the toilet or the shower in the house (very close to the container), also because it is a pleasure to walk in the beautiful garden. In the morning, you can watch several birds and animals eating while sitting on your bed. I absolutely loved it.

The cottage is in a remote and secluded location. On a quiet hill top, next to farmhouse, stunningly situated with spectacular views up the valley. Surrounded by moorland, woods, waterfalls, riverbanks. On the Peninne Way, pub serving great food 1 mile, Sainsburys 7 miles.
It's stunning rural location and new refurbishment.
We are just next door, but what makes it unique is it's tranquillity, and natural beauty and great local pub.
  • Beautiful location and excellent accommodation ,Highly recommend anyone staying here for peace and quiet!

    Hamid2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely cottage in an outstanding setting! Kate was a great communicator and we arrived to a warm and inviting cottage with everything we needed for our young family. The view was amazing and we only wished we were there longer to explore. Thank you!

    Alexander2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage and great place to get away from it all for a few days. No hassle booking and easy access.

    Stephen2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Superb house in a great location. The house is well laid out with a very large bedroom and one of the most comfy beds I have ever slept in. Situated on a farm, it is remote but also close enough to the local pub and only a few miles from 2 different town. I would definitely book again.

    David2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Yet another fantastic stay at cosy snope cottage! The location is truly beautiful and so is the cottage! We highly recommend a visit to the waterfall as it’s breathtaking and perfect for exploring.

    Steph2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's cottage is absolutely lovely, located in an amazing place. The place was clean, had all the amenities we needed and accommodated 5 of us comfortably. It has big heaters which kept the place very warm during winter. And there are plenty of astounding walks around it.

    Iara2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Looking to get away from the fireworks of bonfire night, I discovered Kate’s place. Her cottage has fantastic views through the valley, and it is breathtaking to watch a sunset from the gates of the farm the cottage is on. Kate and Tom were very hospitable, checking in to make sure we were ok and the cottage was fine upon arrival. Kate also checked in during our stay just to check we were still happy. The place is dog friendly which was super important for me, and also has WiFi which was good enough to allow me to work from the cottage through the week. It was clean and lovely and warm. The kitchen has the standard elements you would expect and coffee was provided. They’ve just bought a new mattress which was nice and comfortable. The only (very minor) disappointment was the shower - getting a balanced temperature is a challenge and the shower head could perhaps do with an upgrade. I would definitely recommend Kate’s place if you’re looking for an escape to the country, with spectacular views. Thanks for letting us stay!

    Ian2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • The property is wonderfully quite. Very clean. It is very close to other properties and so lacks privacy ie keep the noise down and no running around naked. Great walks nearby and loads of wildlife. As it happens I was there for 4 days and never saw a spider (I bet there is some) and didn’t have an issue with light bulbs. You are miles from shops so go well stocked. Great location for peace and tranquility with the security of having the owner next door

  • Had a great stay in the log cabin, we were the only ones on site (even if we hadn't have been, the 3 cabins are a good enough distance from each other that you would still feel like you've got your own space. Huge fire which got the place super cosy. very basic cooking stuff, a stove top kettle, single pan, couple of plates, cups and bits of cutlery in there. Take with you what you would take camping if you plan to cook. Lovely little break in a gorgeous spot, felt thoroughly refreshed after two nights here. We took a little battery powered DAB radio, playing cards etc. Lovely chatting the night away with the fire roaring, great spot for star gazing too. Will definitely return

  • Stunning cabins! We had a lovely stay and everything was provided. Very secluded plus we were the only ones on site which was nice. The log burner kept the place nice and warm and we loved looking out at the herons and pheasants in the fields. Loved the peace and the wildlife plus lots of games and books in the cabin to pass the time. We'll be back!

  • The cabin was a great place to relax with a book and a warm fire to get away from it all. Short drives away for the Lake District or the Pennines for great walks. The cabin was secluded and very private. Was cold with it being November but in the summer time I imagine it’s even more beautiful to be able to use the outside space more. Great cabin. Would recommend.

HerdyView Lodge is situated in a peaceful location, overlooking rolling hills surrounded by nature on the edge of the Lake District National Park. It is a cosy, modern 3 bedroom chalet with a log burner. Situated close to the market town of Penrith and Lake Ullswater it is in a perfect location for exploring the Lake District and the Eden Valley. Away from the tourist crowds but also within easy access to hotspots and amenities. There are attractions in the local area for all ages and interests.
HerdyView Lodge is a Scandinavian lodge based on a small, quiet residential site and is surrounded by local farming land on the edge of the Lake District National Park. It is within easy access to the Lake District, Eden Valley and the Peninnes. Surrounded by local wildlife and plenty of walks. The lodge is well equipped for all self catering needs and comprises of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large open plan lounge/kitchen. Guests are free to use the log burner and wood is provided for their first fire. The old traditional large windows at the front opens onto a decking area that overlooks fields in front (often occupied by Herdwick sheep). At the back of the lodge is a small garden with seating where a small BBQ and fire pit are also provided. Here also there is a small herb garden to use. There is space for two cars to park at the front of the property. There is always tea and coffee to use as well. The space is very peaceful and relaxing with herdwick sheep, rabbits, deer and cows regularly occupying the view. The lodge is convenient for the M6 north and south also.
The lodge is 5 minutes from the Market Town of Penrith and 5 minutes to Lake Ullswater. There are plenty of nice pubs, tearooms and restaurants nearby to enjoy. There is a pub within walking distance serving local ales and food. The nearest villages include Askham (an pretty village where Askham hall is located who have an award winning tea room and restaurant), Lowther (where you can explore Lowther Castle and Gardens), Tirril (the Queens Head pub here sells award winning pies). There is direct access to numerous walks/cycle routes in this surrounding area, Eden valley, Lowther land and the North Lake District fells. Lake Ullswater has many walks connected by the Ullswater steamer boats, access to different water sports and many other attractions. Pooley bridge is the nearest point on the Lake, where there are pubs, tea rooms, shops and walks. Another fantastic area to explore is Haweswater reservoir, a quieter place and where walks are more remote and equally, if not more, beautiful (if you have a Northern Lakes OS map then the front cover is a picture on a walk at Haweswater). The Market town of Penrith provides you with local amenities, supermarkets, independent shops and cafes. There are many places to take children nearby, visitor centres (such as Rheged and bird of prey centre), an ice cream farm and also many historical sites to see for example Lowther and Brough castle. From the lodge you can easily explore a wide variety of areas, not just the Lake District National Park but also the Pennines, Eden valley and the historic north Cumbria (such as Hadrians wall!)

  • I really can’t praise this place enough. Carly was a great host, attentive and kind; she provided free fresh eggs and coffee/tea/milk. Lots of sheep and countryside around. Good road access. Situated near a main road so can get noisy, but that doesn’t bother me, so if you’re fine with that then you will love this little flat. It made for a very pleasant place to stay.

    Ollie2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this nice little place. Everything was spotless and check in was easy. Carly was a great host and we would definitely stay here again. The place had everything we needed, although the road is nearby you can barely hear it, especially as the bedroom is at the rear of the property. We could hear the nearby sheep and lambs more! (which is not a negative!) Great location and area for a walk. We wish we could have stayed longer. Excellent value for money!! would definitely stay here again.

This centrally heated, one bedroom Guest Suite is part of a Georgian property built in the late 1700s. The Suite is located in Newton Reigny which is a peaceful village 5 minutes drive from the historic town of Penrith. 5 minutes to the M6 and A66 allows for easy access to the Lake District World Heritage site (the closest lake Ullswater 15 minutes drive). Free parking on the property's driveway and space also available to store equipment.
Sitting just 5 minutes from Penrith and the M6 this guest suite is in an ideal place for exploring the Lake District, town and surrounding areas. The most direct route to the closest lake Ullswater we find takes no more than 15 minutes (although Google maps says 17!). The guest suite is centrally heated by a renewable energy source. Downstairs it has a kitchen with a microwave oven, portable induction hob and a large selection of utensils. Across from the kitchen there is a sitting area where guests are able to relax by the electric opti-myst fireplace. Leading off the kitchen along the hallway there is the bathroom which has a walk in shower and heated towel rail. Upstairs is where the bedroom is located with a very comfortable king size bed and an electric blanket. The TV has all freeview channels and Netflix which has a large range of films, documentaries and TV series and can be used for free so is a perfect way to relax at the end of a day. The suite has keyless entry so guests are able to check themselves in. Across from the suite there is a heated utility room where guests are able to dry wet and muddy clothes/boots and store bikes/equipment. *Please note the driveway can be a bit narrow if you're in a large van*
  • Ali’s place is the perfect get away if your wanting a cosy treat. The location is not too far from all the top hikes around the lakes which Ali kindly suggested. My partner and I will hopefully be re-visiting soon in the near future.

  • Delightful please to stay, would definitely recommend.

    Bethany2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning place which felt cosy and welcoming, can’t recommend highly enough. Beautiful location and a great local pub also added to the experience!

    Kieran2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I really liked this place. It was smaller than I realised from the photos, but cosy and everything I needed was there, including some very inventive space saving gadgets. The host was friendly and informative. The bedroom was really comfortable, the place was very warm and clean and the bathroom/shower were all clean and hot. Ideal for single people I would say. I would use this place again without hesitation. (Also excellent pub with great food about 5-10 minutes walk away).

    Garry2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place. Better than I expected. Loved the little touches of the fresh flowers and the snowdrop flowers on the windowsill. The little basket with goodies in too. Will definitely stay again and have already recommended to family and friends.

    Jennie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage and a really good host.

    Nicholas2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Alister's guest suite was really lovely and cozy. He had thought about everything, and we had everything we needed and more (the heated blanket in the bedroom was incredible and we loved our morning eggs!) Alister even gave us a guide including recommended walks and places to visit, and when we were struggling on where to eat, he gave us great recommendations, and let us know about potential traffic problems nearby beforehand. Would absolutely recommend and we'd definitely love to come back again!

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say. Everything we have at home and more. We took out hot water bottles but an electric blanket negates the need for them. Quiet village apart from strong winds. Some lovely touches like fresh eggs and artisan bread just added that extra special touch. Highly recommend this as a great place to stay. Just to add we left a night early as we had to rush home. Without any prompting Ali refunded us £25. That's what we call great service. Thanks Ali

There was another guest but I didn't hear them. Pretty place near the church. Some church bells but to be expected and to be honest it was such a pleasant stay that I can't fault. Wonderful breakfast. Highly recommend and I would use again.

Hilltop Lodge is a beautiful detached timber building set in enclosed garden (perfect for dogs). It's open plan, with a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on an evening, with well-equipped modern kitchen and dining area. It has large windows with lots of natural light. The garden is abundant in wildlife throughout the year, and has a lovely terrace to sit out on. It’s a great base for relaxing, enjoying wildlife, adventuring, or being creative. An 11am check-out will add to the relaxed feel.
Hilltop Lodge is set within an enclosed garden, surrounded by wildlife. The open plan character makes for a great space - light and airy in the summer but cosy in the autumn & winter months. There's nothing like a wood burning stove and the smell of wood-smoke to make you feel relaxed at this time of year. The Lodge is newly refurbished, and has a contemporary yet country feel to it. The kitchen is well-stocked & we provide plenty of firewood. Due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak, we're using conventional cleaning products for kitchen/bathroom/surfaces as a precaution, with extra diligence during cleaning between bookings. Plenty of hand-wash is provided, as well as anti-bacterial gel. There is absolutely no need to make contact with fellow humans either! It's set up for self-checkout so you can be assured that measures to reduce exposure here are minimised as far as reasonably possible. All your basics will be there such as tea, coffee, sugar, oils, spices & seasonings. We’ll provide some seasonal and/or local goodies to help you settle in, as well as games for you to while away the evenings or rainy days. Due to its peaceful setting, space and natural light, it’s perfect for those seeking somewhere to be creative away from the hubbub. There are free range chickens, ducks, children & a friendly, well-behaved dog so bear this in mind when you drive in through the main gates! (they aren't in the Lodge's garden). Hilltop Lodge is just a mile or so from Appleby, in the village of Colby where there are views of the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales. Colby Beck runs through the village to the River Eden, and there are riverside footpaths to enjoy, just 2 minutes away. Appleby has lots of independent restaurants, pubs, butchers, grocers, giftshops, cafes, chemist and a gallery. Bolton (2 ½ miles away) has a great pub and makes for a pleasant evening bike ride. Dogs are very welcome (2 dogs max.). This project is part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Hilltop Lodge is the perfect place to base yourself if you’re looking for adventures or to relax in the Eden Valley or nearby Lake District, Yorkshire Dales or Pennines. There’s a huge network of footpaths and bridleways to explore, as well as National Cycle Network routes that pass the doorstep (incl. route 71) and through Appleby. Locally, we have well-marked footpaths and bridleways and you’ll a find map of the local area in the Lodge. We can recommend routes. Appleby is just a mile or so away, and there are plenty of pubs cafes and shops.
  • Annabelle's hilltop lodge was just splendid. It was an incredibly easy check-in and there was cake for us on arrival. The lodge was spotless and, once the fire got going, it was so cosy! Amazingly comfy bed as well. The area was so relaxing too. Living in the city makes you forget what real peace can be like, and being at the lodge was a perfect little getaway to relax. We also got to spend some time with Annabelle's lovely on-site animals. We would definitely return!

    Alex2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. The lodge was ideal for what we needed, nice and cosy with everything you could need. The fenced off area for the dogs was great too. We would definitely stay again as we all loved it.

  • We had a brilliant stay in a lovely location and fab lodge! The facilities were fantastic and loved the eco friendly and cruelty free products :) we will have to come back In the summer months to make the most of the garden, as it was great to watch the animals in the garden! The cake was also delicious 😍

  • We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Hilltop Lodge and it was absolutely perfect. Lemon drizzle cake on arrival was such a lovely touch, together with fresh milk, tea and coffee to help settle after a long journey! The cabin had everything you needed for a comfortable stay and the kitchen was well equipped. We loved the log burner, once it got going it kept the whole place nice and warm. A great location for exploring the local area. Maps and suggestions are provided which was super helpful. We walked into Appleby from the lodge and visited Ullswater and Aira Force which was short drive, it was stunning. If you’re a member of the national trust you can park for free there - we paid £9 for 4+ hours! We had such a great weekend, would recommend to anyone. Thanks Annabelle!

  • My partner and I had a relaxing 2 night stay at Hilltop Lodge and it was absolutely perfect. A very tasty lemon drizzle cake was waiting for us when we arrived together with milk, tea and coffee etc. The log burning stove was a great addition which kept the lodge toasty warm. It's in a peaceful setting and is in a great location for exploring the local area. The ducks and chickens added to the charm and were fun to watch. We visited Ullswater and Aira Force which was about a 25 minute drive away. We hope to visit again!

    James2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place for visiting Appleby and the surrounding areas. The lodge was beautifully decorated, very clean and had everything we needed. We were even surprised by a lovely lemon cake when we arrived! There was also a full box of leaflets and maps to help find walks in the local area and things to go and do. Annabelle and her husband were very kind and welcoming. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay.

Greystoke is a stunning village, the centre of which is a mere 200 yards away. We have a fabulous pub "The Boot & Shoe", a village shop where you can buy everything you may need and we are lucky enough for it still to retain it's Post Office! A short walk from the central Shop/Post Office will allow you to take in the splendour of our 14th Century Church, itself quite spectacular and something to take a look at. About 7 miles from Greystoke you will find our nearest stretch of water "Lake Ullswater" and it's just stunning. We have Pooley Bridge to one side, then Glenridding and Patterdale to the other, all have boats to hire so you can explore the Lake for yourselves, but there is always the Ferry's that can collect and drop you off at various points throughout the length of the Lake. A 20 minute drive and you could be in Keswick, a wonderful town with lots to see and do, and them there hills and mountains are calling for you to climb them. Grasmere, Ambleside and Windemere are not much further so you'll be spoilt for choice as you are surrounded with the beauty of the Lake District. Carlisle is also about a 20 minute drive from here in the other direction, itself is a fascinating place to visit, with it'a Castle and Cathedral, Tullie House Museum and much more. Just a little further and you have "Hadrian's Wall" and the Roman Fort "Birdoswald"

  • Hazel and Ian make you feel very welcome on arrival , and they did the same for our dogs ! The accommodation is lovely and cozy and just what we needed as a stop over on our way to the Highlands. Will definitely revisit !

    Jim2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous place with a real in-the-middle-of-nowhere feel, but only a few hundred metres away from Greystoke centre and a lovely pub. Beautiful scenery all around, loads of great walks and many pheasants and other birds roaming the grounds. We visited during early Feb 2020, during heavy flooding, but the grounds and the local roads were pretty much unaffected by the floods. The accommodation is lovely and warm, and the boiler room was warm enough to dry all of our stuff! There's plenty of parking and Hazel gave us a truly warm welcome and all of the information we needed about the area. We'll be back.

We are now in our third year since renovating this 17th century cottage and I guarantee you will enjoy what we have created. We have tried to keep the character of the original building and yet be fresh and appealing for you to enjoy. The space is clean, contemporary yet cosy with all modern day comforts and king size bed to accommodate 2 guests. Skelton is a quiet village handy for M6 motorway and north lakes so is quick and easy to get to and has a pub "The Dog and Gun" serving great food.
The cottage has an open plan downstairs with kitchen area, dining space and living room. There is a full size table to have meals and the kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, kettle, toaster, microwave, washing machine. Tea,coffee and basic staple items are provided as well as all cleaning and washing up products. The living room has a fullsize TV and DVD player as well as broad band. The bedroom upstairs and bathroom have towels, fully made up bed and toiletries, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. All guests will need is their own personal toiletries and food. Outside is a small paved cottage garden with chairs and table. Guests are welcome to bring and use their own barbecue.
This is a small working Cumbrian village that is close to the lakes and mountains as well as the Scottish border. There is good access to the M6 motorway. This a traditional village with a great pub but is not a busy place but great to escape to and really find the true countryside. Upfront Gallery and tea room are a 1mile walk away and the local market town of Penrith with food shops etc is 15 minutes drive away. beautiful historic Hutton in the Forest is 3 miles away.
  • Great stay, can’t fault anything wrong with the cottage. Clean and tidy, quickly responses from the host. Location isn’t close to any real pubs/shops.

  • This was our second stay at Westoe Cottage; it was as pristine as when we first visited in 2018. The cottage is well equipped for all needs. The suggested walks from the house were really enjoyable and the location could not have been more perfect. The pub up the road is a gem; and close enough to be able to enjoy a few drinks without the worry of needing someone to drive. Would highly recommend!

Small converted outbuilding next to our family home, with own entrance. Ideal Coast to Coast Cycle stopover or to use Penrith as a base. Easy access to the town (10min walk but with a quite steep hill on the way back!) as well as being within 5 miles of the National Park and Ullswater. The property looks over Penrith to the hills and is within a few minutes walk of local woods. Sleeps two people comfortably but able to accommodate up to 4 in total.
Upstairs bedroom - double bed, additional single mattress available, drawers, patio door to garden area/washing line. Downstairs living area - with double sofa bed, armchair, TV, stereo, microwave/convection oven, dining table. Kitchen area (downstairs) - fridge, sink, electric kettle, toaster, mugs, glasses, basic cutlery. Shower room (downstairs) - loo, small sink, shower. Secure bike storage available in our garage. Please note that the stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and may not be suitable for toddlers. The stairs do not have safety gates. Please also be aware that the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The cooking facilities are a little limited as there is no hob and limited space to prepare food. However, there is a combination microwave (Microwave, Convection Oven and Grill) for heating simple or ready meals. We also live within 10mins of the town centre, for anyone wanting a more substantial meal or to pick up supplies. We have three children, a dog (collie), a cat and some hens - all are friendly! • What a cracking find. After a trip to the north lakes spa, we wanted somewhere convenient and suitable for 3 ladies to share! This was perfect. The accommodation is quite compact- but we didn’t need much space. The space is lovely- very nicely decorated and I liked all the cycling and running books/ maps etc. The host was super welcoming and even helped us find a local running route so we could have a bit of an explore. The little touches like supplying bread, yogurt, cereal etc was lovely. We couldn’t make the most of it as we had plans for breakfast out but it was a nice touch. A fab little place and we’ll definitely be back!!

  • A cosy and spacious environment that suited our group of 5 perfectly. Location is secluded has a cottage feel, but is very easily accessible and is only a short (10-15 minute) drive into Carlisle. Amenities were good and all rooms, beds and furnishings were clean and in good condition.

A beautiful one bedroom wooden hut situated in the heart of the Eden Valley. Hidden amongst the trees is this lovely hut for up to 2 people with an veranda to peruse the local scenery. 2 chairs and all cooking implements including a gas BBQ and a table are provided. Moreover, enjoy toasting marshmallows over a fire pit with locally sourced logs and kindling.
We are perfectly situated on the cycling Coast to Coast route at the foot of the Peninnes, an ideal location to spend a relaxing but rejuvenating evening before the big climb up Hartside. Alternatively, leave the Pod, amble along the river to Lacey's Caves, walk around the stone circle Long Meg and have a relaxing treat in The Watermill in Little Salkeld.
The hut is situated in an amazing space between woodland and a privately owned sports field with full access to guests. Also available to guests is our communual area, the Man Shack. Sit by the cosy woodburner on those evenings that are just that little bit nippy to sit outside. You can walk to nearby stone circle Long Meg or Lacey's caves by the River Eden and finish with a well deserved treat at The Watermill in Little Salkeld. Or, just hang out by the hut, explore the woods close by and play on the hidden slack lines.
  • Lucy's place is really lovely for a glamping-esque experience. We were greeted on arrival which was great but then left to ourselves. Everything is provided to have a fire and to cook with wood, utensils, pans, dishes etc along with a gas stove which we really enjoyed. You truly are out by yourselves (not inc the surrounding wildlife) adjacent to a field they use to host festivals - which was pretty cool to walk around. It was a really chilly night (we were last night of the season though so I'm sure not a problem for others) but the bed had a huge thick duvet so we were cosy under that. Prepared to be awoken by the morning chorus of many many birds and sunlight coming in through the windows, but it kind of just added to the experience! I think a few extra touches would really boost this place to a more luxurious stay but as is, a really sweet place which I would recommend for those who like to camp.

    Ella2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The pod was lovely. Everything we needed for a fire was provided, everything was user-friendly, lots of wildlife around at night, even saw some deer. Very relaxing!

  • We stayed with Hazel for only one night on our way up to Scotland. Hazel and her partner were super friendly and accommodating and made us and our dog very welcome. We had a very enjoyable night with dinner at the local pub which was also super friendly with great food. I would totally recommend staying here for longer than we did and would stay again next time we are in the area

  • Hazel is a great host. She welcomed us, showed us around and explained everything. They provided a great selection of breakfast things and the house was clean, warm and cosy. A stunning, modern cottage set within an ex-farm conversion. Views across the Eastern Lake District and Blencathra. Two double bedrooms, and two bathrooms make it a perfect getaway for two couples or a family. The cottage is only 5 minutes off the M6, and you can be on the edge of Lake Ullswater within 15 minutes. The local village has a fantastic country pub dating from the 17th Century, swimming pool and shop. This really is the perfect location for discovering the Lake District!
The cottage is situated in an ex-farm: Red Barn Farm. Originally part of Greystoke Castle Estate, Red Barn is comprised of 5 separate dwellings, two houses are occupied by the joint owners, and the remaining three are let for holidays. Red Barn is set in 2 acres of beautiful garden, which our free-range chickens love to wander. You can see straight across to Blencathra from our houses. Feel free to use the outdoor patio area for eating or relaxing.
Greystoke is a rural village, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Surrounded by mountains, and only 10-15mins from the nearest lake, it is a picturesque area. The village of Greystoke, which can be reached by a 5-10min walk from the property, has a great pub, swimming pool in the summer and village shop/post office. The property is only 5mins from the M6, Junction 40.
  • Had a brilliant time at the beautiful cottage. The place was very clean, tidy and spacious, tasteful decor. lovely countryside location, away from it all. Spent evenings by the wood burning stove, which was great after spending days exploring amazing lakes and mountains. Set in a quiet converted Mews, the Granary is a cosy, light and spacious apartment with bath and shower, kitchen, dining area, lounge and separate bedroom with king sized bed.

There is a village store/Post Office a 2 minute walk from the property and two pubs within half a mile. There are lots of other good pubs and cafes between 3 and 10 miles away. There is a lovely bridge and river just north of Butterwick (a couple of minutes drive away) and can be seen from the road, it's worth taking a quick look if you get the chance.

The Garden Flat is in a wonderfully peaceful location overlooking Ullswater with panoramic views of timeless yet ever-changing fells, lake and sky. Experience it all from the bay window seat, sofa or even the bed, from the bench outside or on the lawns of Wreay Mansions. Step out of our front door in to an unforgettable landscape. We're on the Ullswater Way walking route and Pooley Bridge is close by. Enjoy a pint brewed at the Brackenrigg Inn. Fine dine or wild swim at Another Place.
This superbly-situated flat has already enjoyed some big changes – the start of a transformation to make it the perfect place to enjoy Ullswater. There is an open plan kitchen/dining area/lounge with new John Lewis oven, hob and dishwasher, new pans by Green Pan and a striking teal sofa by Gallery Hudson. In the bedroom we have a new Ercol Teramo double bed, and you can enjoy luxurious linen from Tielle Love Luxury – we discovered it at the fabulous Pig hotels chain. There's a new Sony Bravia TV with around 80 channels and radio stations available and if you have a Netflix account you can connect up. And you can listen to your own music using our Minirig speaker. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a bath and a shower. There is a lobby so you don't need to bring muddy boots or wet gear in to the flat. And a private parking bay is included. The flat has an impressive sandstone portico and a huge bay window where the views of Ullswater and the fells – including Helvellyn – are unforgettable.
Wreay Mansions is a cluster of apartments converted from a historic 19th century hunting lodge with elevated views of Ullswater – Wainwright's "loveliest of lakes" and the inspiration for Wordsworth's poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. The new Ullswater Way walking route is at the end of the drive. Just down the hill is the Brackenrigg Inn with more great views, food including Sunday lunch, its own microbrewery and – in winter – a big, roaring fire. Bustling Pooley Bridge – with its pubs, shops and tea rooms by the river – is less than two miles away. There is a new temporary footbridge and free car park to use until the new stainless steel crossing opens this spring to replace the 300-year-old one swept away by floods in 2015. From the flat you can easily reach attractions like Aira Force waterfall, owned by the National Trust, and the Ullswater Steamers. You can ride, cycle, fish, sail, paddleboard or even wild swim nearby at Another Place hotel, which has fine dining and great bar food. The Garden Flat is great base from which to explore the rest of the Lake District including Keswick, Windermere, Buttermere and Grasmere – all around a scenic 40 minute drive away. Other great places to eat include 1863 Bistro in Pooley Bridge or the famous Sharrow Bay hotel on the opposite shore. Historic houses Dalemain (5mins by car) and Lowther Castle (20mins) are close too. Penrith, the nearest town, has excellent shopping facilities and a great Tourist Information Centre. As well as a Sainsbury's and Morrisons, there are brilliant regional stores like Booths and Cranstons Cumbrian Foodhall. Before arriving you could also stock up at the renowned Tebay Services near Shap on the M6, a family-owned site with its own farm and butcher. The company also owns the petrol station and store at Rheged arts centre you'll pass as you head from Penrith to Watermillock. Fuel is competitive and there's great local food and drink on sale.
  • This is the perfect getaway! Views are stunning, hosts are so helpful and thoughtful with some lovely touches (choc, wine and beer gifted to us!) Lake ullswater is a 5 min drive as well as the amazing Air Falls waterfall. Windermere is just an hour away and there’s some great pubs/ restaurants with lots of choice. We will be back again in the summer

    Alicia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I spent two nights at the Garden Flat. It was absolutely lovely and the perfect place to wind down and enjoy nature. The view is incredible and the flat is located on a quiet hill. The pub at the bottom of the hill is perfect for some tasty food that will fill you up for not too much money. From the house it's very easy to get to the Ullswater Way that will take you through the hills. Definitely recommend! Best wishes, Lisa and Scott

    Catherine2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Simon and Kath are the loveliest hosts. We were driving from afar and had to check in late, yet they were happy to greet us. The room was SUPER CLEAN! Location was great, it was exactly what we needed! They also had the cutest cat! So thank you so much for such a lovely experience!!

A newly built annexe with its own entrance and small garden in the peaceful Cumbrian village of Winskill. Phenomenal views over the Pennines, and Lake District fells. Just by the C2C cycle route with secure bike storage available. Outdoor heated swimming pool a few minutes walk (summer months!), plus a fantastic playground even closer to hand. Brand new sofa bed and bunk bed mattresses installed March 2019.
The house and annexe are newly built. The windows look over farm land to Cross Fell and the northern Pennines. Very rural and peaceful.
The local area is quiet and rural, but there are a range of pubs, village shops, Post Office, recreation grounds, outdoor heated pools, cafes and bakery all within easy travelling, as well as the Carlisle-Settle railway. The coast to coast cycle route passes the end of the road into the village. There is easy access to the Pennines and Lake District for a range of outdoor activities.
  • Booked the annexe last minute for a weekend walking with a mate. This was a perfect stay. Really friendly, clean and it actually felt like a lie a little it of luxary great for walking in the area close to the motorway and amenities . Beds were comfy, great shower and would highly recommend.

  • Modern, spacious loft conversion over a garage, very clean and comfortable with lovely hosts. Quiet and peaceful at night, private garden with lovely views and dog friendly.

    Don2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely little place!! We loved it and wished we were there more than one night. It's so peaceful and there are beautiful views out the windows in the morning. It felt bigger than we expected and was ideal for myself, my husband and 3yr old. The bath was a good bonus - in a small place that could have been left out but would be great after walking and with kids too. Lovely place with nice touches and warm welcome from Catherine.

Comfortable room in a Victorian town house with separate but private shower room and toilet . We are located in the center of Penrith with all amenities within walking distance.
This room is within a 4 star guest house at a lower price than our other rooms based on a minimum 4 night stay.
Penrith is a market town and lies 3 miles outside the boundaries of the Lake District National Park
  • Very clean and Tidy. Very comfortable. Great value. Very flexible and amenable host

    James2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is an Airbnb in a very popular guest house 5 minutes from the centre of Penrith. The quality of the room is the same as the B&B. I think the only difference is that you don't get ensuite. However the facilities are for your exclusive use and of a very high standard. Would recommend.

    Robin2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place and it is conveniently located. Susan is very accommodating even with my crazy “Photographer schedule”. I highly recommend it.

    Manuel2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts , nothing too much bother , I will be back

    Don2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a lovely friendly host who is very accommodating. Shower always had constant supply of hot water (much more reliable than my own). Tea & coffee making facilties was a nice touch. Shower & toilet private, but not en-suite, but this wasn't a surprise, as the room description makes this clear, and was not an issue. Room was on 2nd floor, which again i knew and was not an issue. Very good value, and B&B is centrally located in Penrith, so ideal for those using trains/buses. Very nice walk through the woods to the Beacon on the summit of the hill behind town. Would heartily recommend.

    Jus2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located and friendly host. Susan is attentive and helpful and keeps the rooms spotless. Would happily return!

    Barbara2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience at Albany House. Responsive communication from Susan during booking process. I was greeted in person upon arrival and shown to my room. The room is just as it is presented in the photos and description on the booking site. Impeccably clean and comfortable. This is a private room with a sink/tap in the room. The bathroom and shower room are private but separate from the bedroom. This was clearly stated in the booking and it was not a problem at all. There are a few key features which are important to me which influence my satisfaction and thus my review of a property as follows: 1. Parking 2. WiFi 3. Comfort/cleanliness 4. Abundance of hot water for shower Albany House delivers positively on all accounts. Parking is on street, but free and a local parking disc is provided. I never had any problem finding a space. The broadband speed is excellent. The signal strength was a bit weak in my top floor room, but it did work most of the time. The room is well appointed, thoughtfully presented, and quite comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Fresh towels and toiletries provided and topped up daily. The guest house does offer breakfast for an additional fee, but I cannot comment on it as my schedule did not allow me to partake. In summary, my experience at Albany House exceeded my expectations. It is an excellent value for money. I hope to return again in the future.

    Jeff2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Good accomodation for the price and location. Super clean. Tea making facilities available in room and TV. The toilet and shower were not en suite but that didn't bother me. They were clean and worked fine with plenty of hot water. Very good.

  • Peter & Hilary were the perfect hosts! They have a stunning property in a great location. They ensured that we had all we could ask for with personal touches all around Woodpecker Cottage - made you feel right at home! Place was immaculate. Our springer spaniel especially enjoyed overlooking the paddock. Hopefully return in the future. Thank-you Peter & Hilary!

    Rebecca2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous little Cottage in a great location. Clean and tidy with everything you could need. Peter and Hillary sent us plenty of information beforehand and Peter was there to greet us when we arrived. They had also left us loads of goodies such as bread, jam, marmalade, eggs etc. so we didn't need to worry about bringing anything for breakfast. It's dog friendly (including treats, bowls and dog towels!) with an enclosed garden and easy access to a paddock and the fields beyond. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

  • I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The cottage is beautiful with so money lovely thoughtful touches. The communication with Peter and Hilary was superb from pre booking to check in and all contact details were provided if we need anything throughout our stay. We didn’t as it was all perfect.

    Diana2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker cottage is located in a tranquil village with a great pub right on its door step , which is dog friendly, great food and wonderful place to chill after spending to day walking in the nearby lakes, before totally relaxing back at the cottage- which has all the amenities you could ever wish for. Peter & Hilary are superb hosts- their knowledge and kindness is key- we would definitely recommend and return.

    Louise2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage. It is a great location for visiting the nearby areas. Peter & Hilary we’re very welcoming & even gave us a few lovely vegan treats on the hop as we hadn’t told them we are vegan until we arrived, so that was very kind. The place was really cosy & warm & our baby loved seeing the horses in the field that the cottage looks on to. Mabel the pugalier loves the treats that we’re left too. It felt like home away from home!

  • Andri was amazing. The barn conversion is great and it makes a really nice home away from home. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes but there is loads of other things happening in the area. Andri’s farm is a very special place and I would recommend it to anyone - especially those who enjoy long walks and fancy nights drinking fizz in a hot tub.

    Lauren2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Andris eco lodge is an amazing accommodation. Charismatic and comfortable cottage with plenty of space and everything you need for a get away. Andri was an amazing host and couldn’t do enough. Would definitely recommend the hot tub

    Rhys2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived the experience was amazing. Andri came and showed us how to use the wood burner and think became a highlight of the stay. There truly is nothing better than a wood burning fire. Andri then took us into the local village to have a bite to eat and picked us up, truly an amazing host. The beds were so comfortable and even though it was a little cold at times it was quick to warm up once the fire was going. Milo our little puppy enjoyed many walks and wandering around the farm, although he did chase the chickens (we do apologise he just wanted to say hello). The fresh eggs were an absolute amazing touch on a morning. Hot tub was good, even with the extremely friendly cat!! Definitely be looking to come again, thank you for making our little honeymoon extra special with our handmade card and fizz!! Thanks Mr & Mrs Capewell xxxx

Toddles Barn is a very special place to spend time whether for a family get together, summer holiday, weekend walking or as part of a trip round the UK. The barn is light, bright and furnished in a clean contemporary style with all the mod cons you require for your stay.
Toddles Barn is situated in the small working village of Skelton. It is a quiet village handy for the M6 motorway and the northern lakes as well as the nearby market town of Penrith. There is a great pub in the village called the Dog and Gun for food as well as other nearby villages for a meal after a long day out exploring.

  • This was our second stay at Joanne’s. The barn is lovely and spacious and the rooms are stylish and clean. Joanne welcomed us to the cottage and kept us up to date on anything we needed to know. The kitchen was stocked with basics such as washing up liquid, soap and some store cupboard basics like tea and coffee along with a bottle of milk. Within easy reach of Penrith and other Lake District attractions. We would definitely recommend Joanne’s barn and hope to stay again in the future.

  • The pictures do not do this barn justice!!! Walking in I was taken back by how beautiful the space is. The attention to detail is superb. I can’t recommend this barn enough. I don’t want to give away anymore, purely for the fact to have the joy we did when we stayed. Jo was a great host and an added bonus of their cute cat for a snuggle was fantastic. A million times, thank you x

  • Fabulous cosy house with great space and had everything we needed! Comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen and lovely bathrooms. The house had thoughtful touches all around to bring in the Christmas spirit and we were very warmly greeted by Joanne upon arrival. Thank you so much for the sweet treats and the Christmas crackers. We have truly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to visiting again.

    Ewen2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully converted barn in a quiet village but not far from the M6 or A66 so access to Penrith and the Lakes is very easy. Amazing gastropub a short walk around the corner from the barn is an extra bonus. The two double rooms are really well presented and have heaps of space. The twin room is much smaller but was ideal for our two young children. Family bathroom and ensuite both very smart and clean. The living space upstairs was super cosy and the log burner (with plenty of wood) got temperatures up to truly tropical levels! Big dining table to all gather around for meals and then a lovely seating area by the fire for games and reading (many games and books provided by the owner). Some people may find the continual ducking underneath beams a bit of a drag but it's all part of the character! Lovely stay, lovely hosts, would definitely recommend
