  • Very comfortable stay. Lovely area with lots of walks for my dog. Everything I needed was available and swift communication.

    Stacey2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Scotts twice within 2 weeks. The first for 3 nights, the second time for 2 nights. As mentioned on another review the bungalow is attached to a vets, but wasn't a problem as they weren't really open when we slept there. You can hear the odd consultation but very faintly. Collingham is a good village for amenities and the bungalow is central to the village and easily accessible. We parked just off Station Road and just along from the vets entrance, this is a little safer than parking on the road/path in front of the bungalow. Overall a very handy place to stay which is both clean, warm and with many home comforts.....the only disconcerting thing was the TV....which seemed to be able to turn itself on!!!!! which happened several times on both stays.....spooky.

    Paul2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location with fabulous bus and rail links. All the amenities you would expect in your own home with an added bonus of an open fire. Fabulously clean and well presented. We would definitely recommend staying here. Great experience.

  • Particularly if you a lone traveller, as I was, this is a safe haven of peace and tranquility, with a lovely outlook onto the garden which is only a step away through the patio doors and yet is within easy reach of the town centre on foot or by car. My hosts were readily available if I needed anything but were wise enough to allow solitude to be mine and didn't intrude at any point. I found it to be a perfect space and commend it to you.

A charming grade II listed victorian property in the conservation area, and 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of Newark-on-Trent, a quintessential English historic market town with a traditional market square, Town Hall, castle and gardens, bandstand and home to the National Civil War Centre. Clean, bright, airy, stylish with a mixture of quality traditional and contemporary decor and furnishings. Free parking, Freeview, Wi-fi.
Private double room, newly decorated, and tastefully furnished overlooking the rear of this delightful period Grade II listed home. Your have shared use of the dining room (wall mounted TV), bathroom with over bath mixer shower, kitchen with all modern appliances (microwave, dishwasher, Nutribullet blender, Tassimo coffee machine). Towels provided - hairdryer, iron, ironing board also available by request. Please ask if there is anything else you need during your stay and I will try to accommodate this. * Please note the downstairs is also shared with Nala, our house cat, who is rather timid at first but soon warms to strangers. * Unauthorised guests are not allowed.
My home is situated at the end of a cul de sac so there is no through traffic, making this a very quiet location considering the proximity to the town centre. There is free parking outside the property. Newark is host to the famous bi-monthly International Antiques and Collectors Fair, and annual music, jazz, blues, and food and beer festivals. Throughout July and August, you can spend a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to a local brass band on the traditional bandstand in the castle grounds. On a fine day, why not take full advantage of the many fine bars or independent cafes situated around the town and order refreshments alfresco.
  • Tanya’s place was perfect for my stay in Newark. The room was so lovely. Tastefully decorated, comfy bed and the house is quietly tucked down a small street so I slept really well. The house and common areas were also really beautiful and I was made to feel welcome and relaxed by Tanya who is really friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, really central. I could park outside and walk everywhere I needed to get to. I’m a regular airbnber and I have to say this is the nicest private room accom I have ever stayed in. WiFi connection was strong so I was able to do some work while I was there no problem. Well worth the money. I really recommend Tanya’s place and will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.

We are still open for bookings currently for guests who are in the government exception categories for travelling (e.g. key workers, those whose house move has been delayed, local people needing a separate place to stay etc.) Future bookings being taken as usual. Beautiful, unusual property full of character in the heart of the historic Minster town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, dating from the 1800's. It's packed full of original and quirky features. Discounts are available for longer stays.

  • Debra welcomed me at the door and was friendly and bubbly from the off. The stairs are quite steep but she carried my case up for me, as I am a tad large and slow on my feet. Room was lovely and cosy and very clean. Not something I usually notice so it must have impressed me :0) The room has everything you need for a weekend stay. Teas, coffee, automatic air freshner. Very quiet when I got back quite late on saturday. I slept beautifully. The room has black out blinds for those people that need complete darkness. And the bed was very comfortable. Lovely and warm and has windows that are easy to open if you want some air. A really great experience and my first time staying in a house while host is there. Would reccomend whole heartedly. And Trevor the cat is gorgeous. I found him stretched out on the floor outside the bathroom and tickled his tummy. Whats not to love. Enjoy

Newark-on-Trent is a market town in Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. It stands on the River Trent, the A1 (on the route of the ancient Great North Road), and the East Coast Main Line railway. The origins of the town are possibly Roman as it lies on an important Roman road, the Fosse Way. The town grew around Newark Castle, now ruined, and a large marketplace, now lined with historic buildings, and was a centre for the wool and cloth trade. In the English Civil War, it was besieged by Parliamentary forces and had to be relieved by Prince Rupert in a battle known as the Relief of Newark.
  • Cosy, pleasant and warm room with nice breakfast. Bathroom across corridor with roll-top bath/shower. Colin was very accommodating of our arrival time and kept our bags during the day of departure. Located a short walk from Newark town centre. Good value for money.

  • Adrienne and Colin were lovely, we were greeted by Colin and accommodated straight away even though we showed up a bit earlier than we agreed on. The room was lovely, very stylish and harmonious and the bed was probably the comfiest bed I ever slept in! Morning breakfast was lovely too, and their dogs are the sweetest little guys. Would definitely recommend!

  • Delightful couple giving a warm welcome and a flexible check in. The quirky bedroom is warm and comfortable with a guaranteed good nights sleep. Bathroom has a gorgeous roll top bath and a big shower head. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely return.

    Rosie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are very friendly, and extremely interesting to talk to, and the dogs are lovely. The room was spotlessly clean, and like the whole house stylishly decorated. They have a fine selection of books, and pictures. The bed was very comfortable, and very quiet even though the house is only a short walk from the town centre. A good hot and strong shower in a very clean bathroom. The breakfast was exactly what I wanted.

  • We were staying in Newark to see what the commute would be like to Notts and Lincoln should we move to Newark. We had a lovely, relaxed week. The location of the flat is fantastic - so close to town and one of the train stations, and the flat itself is clean and stylish. Thanks for letting us stay Amy!

    Joe2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic little space for work or pleasure. Amy gave us all the info we needed,

  • This is a lovely little flat in an ideal location, Waitrose and great restaurants and bars are within a couple of minutes walk, and 30 seconds if you want pizza express. Flat spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Definitely recommend.

    Kerensa2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Already knowing the town of Newark incredible well, Amy’s apartment is in a fantastic location - a 5 to 10 minute walk to the centre of town and its facilities (shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and it’s historical sights). The apartment is in pristine condition, which has been decorated in a modern, fresh and stylish style. We had no issues with any of the facilities we used in the apartment (bathroom, kitchen, etc) - it truly felt like a home away from home. A fantastic personal space to either cosy up in or use as a base to rest your head and freshen up during your adventures. Amy was a delight to deal with when organising our stay - always prompt with her replies and willing to accommodate to our needs and requests.

NEWLY REFURBISHED MARCH 2019 I'm a 340 year old converted coaching house set in the heart of Newark with two double bedrooms. One with a double bed and the other with a king size bed. A single put up bed could be provided if you are a group of 5. The bathroom has a bath as well as a shower. There is a lounge area as well as a kitchen with a dining table.
I am very old and quirky full of historical intersts. If you are looking for a pristine place to stay then I'm not the one for you :). I have many features and lots of history.
The apartment is in the town centre with all local amenities close by such as bars, shops and tourist attractions like the museum, Palace Thetre, Newark castle and the market. There's always lots of fun things to do in Newark! Brochures can be found in the apartment.
  • Cracking apartment in the centre of town. Rob’s a great guy and made us feel very welcome. Would recommend to anyone spending a night or two in Newark

    Dominic2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous little apartment, right in the centre of town. Love it’s cute, quirkiness and will definitely book again!

    Stacie2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Robert was a great host and our stay pleasant. Robert was able to provide us an extra cot when requested a few days out from our arrival which was very much appreciated. Would recommend.

    Katrina2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Central location, close by to Newark showground - cost £10-13 each way in a taxi. We didn’t spend much time here, we just got taxis into and out of the vegan camp out event!

    Vicki2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot super cute

    Josh2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location- you can walk and explore Newark with ease from here. The apartment is clean, definitely quirky but has everything you may need. Rob was very friendly and checked we had everything we needed. We had a great stay-thank you.

  • Life is all about memories. Our say in Newark for the Easter weekend for a special family birthday, has been made, even more memorable and special by our stay at this Airbnb. A quirky yet stylish apartment which felt like a real home form home. The secret garden is a small oasis of tranquillity that is a must to enjoy with a cup of tea or a glass or two of wine, a sun trap during the day and in the evening with all the lights on the full beauty of the garden comes to life. It is also a haven for wild life, with nesting birds in the garden it is so quiet you forget you are in the centre of a busy historic market town. We absolutely loved our stay, the apartment and its garden are absolute gems it's obvious that much work, thought and love has been spent on them. Rob is an excellent host with great communication, very welcoming we felt like family, we would definitely stay again, and highly recommend here to anyone looking for a place to call home for a stay in or around Newark.

Late 19th century worker's terraced cottage. Almost opposite Sconce & Devon Park & the Catholic Church, five minute's walk from riverside, ten minute's walk from town centre & just off the A46. Free off- street parking & pets welcome. We aim to provide a simple yet comfortable stay in line with the origin of the house & the need for modcons. So, traditional family eating & sitting spaces are joined by CH, constant hot water, fully equipped kitchen, WIFI & smart TV. Courtyard garden for pets.
Five minute walk to 3 takeaways, a cash point & a Co-op open till 10pm (Albert St). Bus service to town Bus Station. All services available in the town centre 10mins walk away.
This is a down-to-Earth neighbourhood with friendly people around. The park is ideal for exercise & is dog-friendly. It houses The Queen's Sconce - a 17th century earthwork from the Civil War. There's a café there too. The riverside is 5mins away & you can walk down to the lock & from there to the castle with plenty of refreshment en route. The town Market Place is busy most days & around it are lots of alleyways & small shops & coffee places to explore. The church, town hall & National Civil War Centre are all worth a visit.
  • Really nice little 2 bed terraced house. Very comfortable & warm, plenty of space with 2 bedrooms - recommended

  • Elizabeth's place was ideal for us. The fact that it was dog friendly means so much to us, not only her lovely house but the park directly across the road made it ideal for us. Her place is very clean and warm with all the facilities we required. it's an easy 15 minute walk into the town. We will be returning.

    Neil2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second visit to this house and again, I found it to be very well situated, very comfortable and very well equipped. Everything you need for a short stay is on hand. It's welcoming with nice touches such as magazines and books, toiletries in the bathroom, comfortable beds with good quality linen. It's a little way from the centre of Newark but you have a lovely park entrance opposite and a co-op just round the corner. The house is well managed, very clean and you can park in the road outside. Recommended!

The self-catering studio space is private, just outside garden of main house, with its own drive for parking. It's close to the centre of the village and has excellent car and rail connections to other parts of the UK. It is ideal for one or two guests - couples, solo adventurers, business travellers. Simple help-yourself breakfast included, and some provisions, with small kitchenette. There's a garage space on ground floor below if needed for storage. Please note spiral staircase is narrow.
The space is like a tardis. It opens up at the top and is a warm, compact space, simply furnished. Although it is next to a village street on one side, it is generally quiet; you can hear owls in the evening sometimes.
The studio space is near the centre of the village with a greengrocers, a butchers, and two small supermarkets a minute or two away for those wishing to cook. Otherwise, there are two pubs (limited food), two cafes and two good restaurants, one with a wine bar and sometimes live music, as well as good fish and chips, Indian (sit down) and Chinese take-away amenities. The church dates from the medieval period and is well worth investigating. All around there are walks. A drive away, plenty more to visit.
  • Cosy and homely place to stay.

    Juliet2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay with thoughtful touches! So warm and cosy. Delighted with the fresh local produce waiting for us with a lovely bottle of red wine. Exceptional guidebook with local info. WiFi info was particularly helpful as it was a bit touch and go with storm Dennis! 100% would recommend and stay again!

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A well appointed studio space with a few surprises. Clean, quite and relaxing with everything needed for pleasant stay. Great communication from Harriet and what a great location in a superb village in the Vale of Belvior.

    Stephen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Harriet was wonderful with us, took care of every detail and was extremely friendly. The flat is just like the photos, very well decorated and clean. In the small kitchen, you have what you need, in addition to a pantry that allows you to make your own breakfast. Nearby you can find a restaurant and a small market. The train station is 5 minutes walking, but I recommend that people go by car. If you go to hell, I recommend taking warm clothes, the flat has heating and a hot bedding. My husband and I recommend the place and would go back for a second visit.

    Danielle2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in the main house at Harriet's before and this was my first time in the studio. Cosy, snug, peaceful - I slept so well and got lots of work done. Harriet had filled the fridge with basics and breakfast things and left such a kind welcome gift - a bar of vegan chocolate. Definitely game for a return visit.

    Sarah2020-01-17T00:00:00Z

  • Suzanne is a lovely lady, her place is beautiful, very clean, cosy and super comfortable beds. She went out of her way with little touches for us, it was a freezing day, we had been travelling for over an hour and when we arrived the heating was on, the radio and lamps, it felt very welcoming. We enjoyed eating our breakfast in the conservatory, with a view of beautiful garden. We will definitely stay again when we visit Newark.
