Delightful country barn set in a quiet lane in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire village of Broughton. Vaulted ceiling living area for relaxing and dining complete with internet, smart TV (Netflix etc.) and desk. Well-equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, microwave. Situated between the historic cities of Salisbury and Winchester and ideal for walkers with the Clarendon Way passing behind the property. Quiet location with small enclosed garden courtyard.
The Barn is a detached quiet annex suitable for overnight, weekend or longer breaks. Its location is ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat to relax or work with all modern amenities. We are also well positioned for those wishing to take in a little fly fishing on the River Test.
Broughton is conveniently situated midway between the historic cities of Salisbury and Winchester which are connected via the Clarendon Way long distance footpath. The footpath itself passes behind our property and provides a useful halfway stop-off point for weary travellers! Broughton is within easy reach of Stonehenge, Old Sarum and other ancient monument sites. It is only a few minutes drive from Mottisfont; a delightful National Trust property and, for those with very young children, Peppa Pig World is also within easy reach. Despite its easy connection to these places, Broughton itself is off the beaten track nestling under a beautiful local nature reserve, Broughton Down, which overlooks the village giving wonderful views across our Hampshire countryside. The village itself has a well-stocked shop and post office, an 11th century church and two popular and complimentary pubs; one very traditional serving excellent beers and food and the other specialising unusually in Thai cuisine.
  • I would really recommend a stay at Fiona and Graham’s place. The photos don’t do it justice and everything was perfect. Very accommodating hosts and a beautiful, clean, spacious barn with everything you could need and more, in a lovely setting.

    Florence2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Graham’s barn was absolutely lovely, even nicer than the pictures. Graham met us on check in and everything down to milk in the fridge was thought of! There’s a nice community shop and the tally ho pub just a few minutes walk away which was great! My partners a wheelchair user and accessibility was also great in the barn, all step free, normal and fold down grab rails in the bathroom and plenty of space - we look forward to coming back

    Charlotte2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Second time here and just as good as we remembered. Clean, warm and homely. We had not planned on Storm Dennis playing havoc with the weather and our host came to the rescue with torch and camp stove when we lost power so we could at least have hot tea and soup. They could not have done more to try and help! The skylights let in so much natural light we didn't miss the electricity and the Barn is so well equipped we never got bored - we played Scrabble and cards and built Lego models. This really is a beautiful place to relax and unwind! Thank you again Graham and Fiona for being fantastic hosts!!!

    Michael2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay, just what we wanted. The barn was spotless and we were greeted on arrival and shown everything we needed to know. Highly recommended.

  • Fiona and Graham’s place was absolutely lovely. Pure bliss and relaxation for a quiet night away. Lots of fantastic places to explore locally, and great advice from Graham regarding local pubs. Lovely place to stay, very clean, cosy and stylish. Lovely modern kitchen and bathroom, with a comfy bed. Would highly recommend!

    Olivia2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a short relaxing break and we got a wonderful time. The place is beautiful, spacious, cosy, and perfectly clean. The country and the village are lovely, and the area very quiet, with nice weather it must be very nice to take a walk through nature. We went for a lunch at the Tally Ho, a very cosy country pub in the village, which we highly reccommend. Fiona and Graham were very nice hosts, five stars!

    Gregorio2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Fiona & Graham for the perfect getaway. The barn is even better than it looks - really a fantastic place to stay, everything you need, lots of thoughtful touches, friendly and accommodating hosts, peace and quiet, nice location, could go on like this for ages and I can't recommend it enough!

  • Quite simply, a very unique and special place to stay. A wonderfully converted chapel into a spacious 1 bedroom home (plus sofa bed). It was almost too big for me on my own, but that made it all the more luxurious. Communication with Joe was excellent, and check in process very easy. I will be staying again soon. Recommended.

  • I don’t think the pictures or description do full justice to this wonderful cottage. It was perfect for our needs (family of 4 with two children under 8 years old), and the fun board games and ample supply of firewood was an unexpected bonus. With older children, you might find dining together quite snug, but for us this wasn’t a problem. The bathroom downstairs (and in fact, the whole cottage) was meticulously clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable.

  • We had a great stay over Christmas, everything was absolutely perfect, we especially loved the owls calling each other and opening the curtains on a couple of roe deer staring in at you in the morning. Beautiful cottage, beautiful location. Thanks

  • We had a fab stay at the lodge. It was perfect for the 4 of us. We chose it as a half way point between Devon & London to host a family Christmas get together. All amenities were as described, we cooked a full roast and everything we needed was there! The beds were super comfy. Fantastic lounge with open fire. The bathroom was decadent and functional. Overall very impressed, it was the cosy cottage in the countryside we were hoping for. Private parking and totally left to be self sufficient with great instructions on how everything worked. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Double Room in Character Cottage in the Beautiful Test Valley with Breakfast
Welcome to our lovely 1890 cottage with a small but very comfortable guest bedroom in the heart of the Test Valley, just a moments’ walk from the Test Way, 15 minutes walk from the Clarendon Way, and with a beautiful view out over the fields opposite. Canal Cottage is an unusually airy and bright property with lovely high ceilings and lots of charm. We are in a small village with a pub surrounded by beautiful countryside, set mid-way between Romsey and Stockbridge, there are many lovely villages, country pubs, fabulous walks and cycleways within the vicinity. We are close to Winchester, Salisbury and the New Forest all being around 30 mins drive.
Julie’s house is located less than a minute’s walk away from the renowned Test Way, and the Test River runs right through the little village.
  • All as described. Lovely accommodation. Got a good night's sleep followed by a good breakfast. Recommended.

  • This cottage is in a lovely quiet location and was as charming as the photo suggests. Julie and Emma were friendly and I went straight to my room so that I could do a Skype session. The room had all the necessary facilities including a hot chocolate sachet which a lot don't have. The shower was fine and breakfast had a choice of cereals, fruit and yogurt. All in all it was a lovely area and a cosy stay. I would definitely stay there again.

    Carol2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Emma are friendly, welcoming hosts and we highly recommend them. We stayed with them while attending our friends wedding at Horsebridge Station, which is 2 mins walk away. We loved our cuddles with Maddison, their very friendly cat. Their house was really clean, with a powerful shower, comfy bed and lots of thoughtful touches. The cooked breakfast was very much appreciated, especially the tasty bacon from their own pigs. Communication was quick and easy. This is one of our best AirBnB experiences. Thank you so much for having us. x

    Emma2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived at this idyllic Hampshire cottage on Friday lunchtime in June 2019, to the minute we left roughly 48 hours later, staying at Julie (and Emma’s) felt like staying with friends. They are the most welcoming, friendly, helpful and interesting hosts, what more could you ask for from an Air BnB? Their abode is super clean, full of character, and home to their beautiful cat Maddison. The guest bedroom is very cute, on the front of the house, with a slim wardrobe, the perfect size for the room and ideal to hang up a few choice outfits. Their bathroom has a huge shower, perfect to clear the head, whilst their complimentary breakfast adds much needed fuel to the body. My husband and I were in Horsebridge for a wedding and travelled down a day earlier to sample the delights of the Hampshire countryside, in particular, a portion of the Test Way, a popular jaunt in the local area. Emma and Julie gave us advice on which route to take and gave us the heads up on the best places to eat in the local area. As it’s the countryside, you won’t be surprised to read that Emma and Julie have pigs, cows and sheep that they tend to, animals that are in a small field behind their house. Ask them nicely and they might just introduce you to them… I cannot think of a reason to not stay here if you’re in the area.

  • Just came back from a superb 2 night stay here with our 4 yr old and 6 month old children. We picked this place for its easy location to Peppa Pig world, and it really was an easy short drive! Leigh is a great host, little touches around the place like breakfast, milk, butter and croissants ready for when you arrive. She also popped up a travel cot and highchair for us so we had some room saved in the boot of the car for the rest of our belongings. Lord knows when you travel with children you basically bring your whole house bar the kitchen sink so this was a blessing. We popped to a local Aldi to grab some more supplies for our stay as found the local pubs abit over our budget. The kitchen in the annex has a travel hob and microwave so you can cook up a storm without the need for an oven. Perfect for us. Beds are super soft which I loved but not for all. Water comes out of the taps really really hot. Just something to be mindful of if your little ones like to try and wash their hands themselves. We highly recommend this place for a cosy, easy night away with easy location to Paultons Park. Wel be back ! Thanks again Leigh - all the best x the Bonds

  • Very nice accommodation. Everything is thought of to make you feel good. Lots of little touches awaited us in the kitchen. It was clean and big + for those with children, there were plenty of toys and books for working English. It is ideally located for visiting Winchester, Salisbury, Southampton and the New Forest. We recommend.

  • Leigh’s place is a great spot for a couple of days away near to the New Forest with a family. There was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The annex was very clean. Our girls really enjoyed the basketful of toys and books. The beds were comfy and we all slept well. The little kitchen had just what we needed for making dinner and breakfast and the fresh eggs were delicious! Thanks so much for a very easy stay!

  • If your looking for somewhere to stay near to Peppa Pig world this is the perfect place. We stayed with our two daughters and the little touches for those with children was great! We felt safe with the gated access and the annex was clean and equip with everything you could need. We went to the local pub and the food was excellent.

  • An absolutely lovely place to stay. Highly recommended

    Stuart2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh was super helpful and offered lots of insights to local area as well as being very attentive after I asked for her to look at a window we couldn’t lock. It was a beautiful rural setting and the annexe was quiet, clean and very nicely appointed with thoughtful little touches like a few kids books and toys that my daughter loved and some milk, eggs, bread and some chocolates. Despite Leigh being very much on hand if we needed, she was incredibly discreet and we had loads of privacy. Great stay in a lovely area.

The house is located in South Wonston, which is a small quiet village 5 miles north of Winchester. The room is light, airy and of good size. There is a comfortable single bed with second single trundle bed available. Bathroom shared with other guests only. Use of the kitchen. Ample room for parking. Regular bus service to Winchester. Lifts to and from Winchester for small fee outside bus hours. Guided 10-15 mile walks in surrounding area. Village shop, social club, kebab and fish and chip van.
We are a family of four but with our daughter away at University. Sue and I are retired and our son is in his final year at school. The house is a 1960's chalet bungalow but has high ceilings. It is newly, neutrally decorated and benefits from being south facing and so is bright for most of the year. There is a computer desk in the room. There are lovely views of Winchester and surrounding countryside from the window. The bathroom is located opposite the room and has a bath with shower over it.
South Wonston is a small, friendly, village set 5 miles north of Winchester and surrounded by open countryside. It has a village shop, post office, social club, which you are able to use, and a well equipped park with extensive play area, tennis and basketball court, skate park and outdoor gym. There are many footpaths in the area. There is a kebab van parked at the social club every evening from 5pm as well as a fish and chip van on a Friday. They are both of very good quality in my opinion but I guess personal taste comes into it. Three miles down the road in the village of Wonston is the Wonston Arms which was voted 2018 pub of the year and is home to over 180 varieties of gin.
  • Gary is a very friendly and approachable host. Would definitely recommend his place to anyone else for a pleasant stay.

Self contained annex - uniquely located on the Clarendon Way, the ancient Pilgrims route between the iconic cathedrals towns of Winchester and Salisbury.
Blacklake Barn is a delightful self contained annex with two bedrooms, a sitting room, shower room, and kitchen and breakfast area. Wonderfully light and spacious, the barn has original exposed beams and a rustic feel. For colder months, there is a very efficient wood burner in the sitting room as well as central heating in all of the rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped so self catering is an option. English breakfast ingredients such as bacon and eggs (all locally sourced) can also be provided (at cost) for guests to cook for themselves and cereal, bread, butter and jam and honey. Please let your host know your requirements on booking. There are two bedrooms, one double with a super king size bed and one single with a single bed and a mattress is also available. Please note this property is not suitable for children under 4.
We are located very close to the River Test, famed for its world class crystal clear waters and excellent fly fishing. Stockbridge with its excellent shops, restaurants and pubs is only 3 miles away. Stonehenge, the cathedral towns of Winchester and Salisbury are all within half an hour of the Barn.
  • We had a fabulous week staying here. The cottage was great for the 3 of us and our dog. It’s situated perfectly for long walks, mountain biking or just relaxing. An easy walk to the Boot inn for Sunday lunch and close to other great places to visit. The garden was secure so there was no worry that our dog would escape, in fact he had a great time playing with Ingrid and Charles little dog. The house is well kitted out and we were easily able to prepare meals and even wash clothes after a long muddy walk. The wood burner is an added bonus on a dark cold evening. We would happily return here.

  • We enjoyed a very relaxing, peaceful break over a long weekend. The garden is much bigger than expected and secure for our two little dogs to roam at leisure, and play with the owner’s dog, Poppy. There is also parking onsite immediately next to the property, so it was very easy to unload and reload the car. The kitchen is very well equipped, we hope to come back one day and make use of the cheese fondue kit! WiFi fast and reliable. I know some other people had commented that it was hard to find - but we found Ingrid’s directions to be very detailed and we had no issue finding the property. Thank you Charles and Ingrid for a wonderful stay. Best Sarah and Geoff (+ Russell and Tilly 🐶)

Houghton is a peaceful village on the River Test. It is a halfway point for those walking the Clarendon Way between Salisbury and Winchester. The Boot Inn is very close and does excellent food.
  • A great place to stay in a lovely setting

  • Rosie & Nicholas are fantastic hosts - communication was great throughout & the Annexe is a lovely little space with all sorts of thoughtful extra touches. Very comfortable bed, spacious shower room, well-equipped kitchen area with microwave - everything spotlessly clean. We especially liked the table out on the balcony - lovely to watch the sunset from. We also recommend the cooked breakfast in the farmhouse (you pay a bit extra, but it's definitely worth it!) - plenty of choice including full English. gluten-free goodies & croissants! The Annexe is really close to the Clarendon Way which we were walking & the Boot Inn in the village is delightful & very welcoming. Rosie & Nicholas have provided everything you could possibly wish for in an air bnb & we look forward to staying there again.

  • This is a delightful place to stay. We booked in here as we were walking the clarendon Way, and it was wonderfully convenient for that. Thank you Rosie for a great stay on our walk. Everything very nicely done.

A country pub with an upmarket twist. Built in the 1920's, set in a stunning location just outside of Stockbridge/The River Test, The George Inn provides a warm welcome for families, groups, contractors and pets. With our fully enclosed garden to enjoy fine local ales and produce and a selection of 25 Gins. We regularly host BBQ's and events such as the famous George Festivals and a once a month fine dining Vegan Night. All rooms are clean, inviting and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom.
We are situated in a 1920's country pub with plenty of character in a small village on the outskirts of Stockbridge.
We are situated in a small English countryside village with plenty of walks, nature and heritage sites situated nearby. There are 2 small shops within walking distance that will provide the essentials should you require them during your stay and we are roughly 10 minutes drive from both Andover and Stockbridge and 20 minutes from Salisbury should you need anything else.
  • Great place to stay, especially if you are attending a wedding in the middle of a field somewhere near. The George Inn is a beautiful establishment with a full bar and tasty local cuisine. The check in process was simple and the rooms sufficient. Breakfast was delicious and service was great. Would recommend staying here.

  • Excellent host!! Everything about this stay was really good. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, to both us and our dog. There is a very large garden with tables and chairs and we were lucky enough to have sunshine and so we ate both Sunday roast and breakfast the following morning outside. The room was very comfortable and clean and all the food was good. A lovely stay, well worth the money. We highly recommend this. Thank you William

Located between the historic cities of Winchester and Salisbury the cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Test Valley and beyond. Stonehenge, Highclere Castle and the New Forest are close by. The coast is approx and hour away. Dogs are welcome.
Colindale Cottage is a bed and breakfast with 2 rooms available, one twin and one double both en-suite. Self catering option is available .
  • Always a delight staying at the cottage! First winter stay here and was lovely sitting by the fire in the lounge. . Toasty!!

  • A great place to stay, effectively a private apartment in the cottage with use of sitting and dining rooms as well as the two en suite bedrooms. Karin was a great host, the superhost accolade was truly well deserved; great service for breakfast, helpful and friendly, really conducive to a relaxed and comfortable break.

  • I can highly reccomend a stay at Colindale Cottage, the property really is beautiful with lots of cosy seating areas and very tasteful decor. The en suite bathrooms are large, light and airy and the showers very powerful! Karin is the perfect host and super helpful, she couldn't do enough for us and was more than happy to hang around for a chat as and when we wanted. She is very warm and welcoming and bangs out an amazing breakfast!

  • Spotless B & B with a charming host in a beautiful location. What more could you wish for!

    Michele2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly I never stayed here personally, I booked it for my sister and two dogs... Firstly the entrance to the B&B was beautiful, draping tree and off street parking. The house is a lovely extended double height cottage, beautifully decorated... ample space is allocated for your stay, the rooms, are vastly more stylish and homely than a hotel. I had booked a hotel that night, after seeing this B&B I was disappointed in my hotel in comparison, especially I had paid more for the standard almost clinical hotel room. Karin gave a warm welcome, even though I was running late, my two Border colliers were made welcome and I was directed to welcome and peaceful walking areas for them. Breakfast was intimate and personal. I have nothing more to say than, this has to be one of the best places for the value and cost within the local to Wiltshire area... Don’t hesitate, this is where you should stay!!! Also I don’t tend to leave reviews “Only 4 ever, across all platforms” it must prompt me to have to say some thing, as it has to be more than expected... Karin, Thank you! Mr Winning

Stables cottage was built in 1863 and over the years has had many uses including the stabling of horses to support the busy canal and Horsebridge railway station. Most recently the cottage has been loving restored into a cosy home and modern holiday destination. The cottage is situated in the heart of a small hamlet called Horsebridge, which nestles in the Somborne area, next to the River Test (best known for the famous fly fishing enjoyed by all, including Royals.)
As soon as you arrive at the cottage you will notice the peaceful surroundings and be drawn in by the delights of English bird song and the adjacent rippling river. Getting cosy in front of the free standing wood burner makes our cottage perfect for romantic getaways or sit outside on the swing seat in the garden, to rest after a long walk on the beautiful Test Way. The cottage boasts a well equipped kitchen for preparing delicious meals or you could step out of the front door and treat yourself to a home cooked meal at the traditional freehold John O Gaunt Inn. We would request that the cottage is a totally non smoking area and welcome a well behaved dog (please bring your fury friend's own bedding and towels.)
The area has superb walking and cycling routes through the beautiful English countryside including the Test and Clarendon Way. These routes link you into many areas such as Stockbridge, Kings Sombourne, Winchester and Salisbury. Alternatively, you are only a short drive to attractions such as Mottisfont Abbey and Stonehenge (National Trust sites). The local town of Stockbridge has an excellent range of eateries and amenities such as a small supermarket and butcher. Romsey and Broadland estate are also worth a visit, if you have the time time to explore a little further afield. One of our favourite walks is to the town of Stockbridge and takes about 1 hour. The local pub is within crawling distance and sells real ales and home made food. If your interests include fly fishing there is a local facility called the John O' Gaunt Lakes , which allows you to fly fish on a daily basis with a licence (bought from the post office in Kings Somborne). You will need to provide your own fishing equipment.

  • Perfect place for a relaxing escape from the city. It was a bit cold outside reason why we wanted to get a house that was just an experience in itself. Lots of nice sofas, chairs and floor pillows to lounge around; the place is full of interesting items, books and even an old DVD and music collection. Wonderful views to the outside fields from any window and even better, when going out to have a cup of tea from the top balcony or porch downstairs. Debbie left us some breakfast goodies, including a delicious jam assortment, which was a very nice surprise and we really enjoyed them thanks! Great walking trails around the property if you are looking to connect with nature too.

Thank you so much for letting the children collect the eggs and see the lovely animals. They loved it so much. Foxglove was cosy and comfy (great to have two sofas) and lovely comfy beds. You kindly let us know a man was coming to tinker with the taps while we were out and it was sorted extremely efficiently and without any effect on us. A lovely spot
