A traditional Shepherd's Hut in the secluded grounds of a thatched cottage, with extensive views of the valley and River Avon, 4 miles from historic Stonehenge (closer if walking) and the medieval city of Salisbury. It comes fully equipped with en suite electric shower, basin and proper flushing toilet. It has a beautiful hand-made kitchenette with microwave/combi oven, ceramic 2 ring hob and roomy fridge with small freezer space to make ice for your drinks! There are breakfast ingredients left for you to cook, which includes free range eggs from our hens, bacon, home-made granola, home-made bread, butter, fresh fruit, orange juice and home-made marmalade and a selection of teas/coffees included in the price. You can then retire to the full-size double comfy bed, whilst enjoying the views across the valley and enjoy the peace and quiet of the country. The hut has its own private and secluded garden, which comes equipped with garden furniture and a barbecue (coal supplied summer only). It also has a small table and 2 chairs inside for those cosy winter evenings. It is ideal for a small/medium size dog. The hut has an electric heater for those chilly evenings and a DAB bluetooth radio to keep you entertained. The shower room has its own heated towel rail to keep your towels dry and you warm. Therefore, no need for a carbon monoxide detector. You will also have use of a luxury swim spa/hot tub at no extra charge, which has enough space for one person to swim in it or more just to relax and unwind in the jacuzzi. Please note that the swim spa will be open from 8am and then closed from 11am to 3pm for cleaning and family use. It will be closed at 10pm to respect our other guests. PLEASE NOTE: To ensure private use of the spa, please book a 2 hour slot in advance when you book the accommodation. There may be other slots available. We supply robes for adults only and if you need an extra towel for the spa, please bring one.
We are situated along a quiet country road, yet only 4 miles from the historic city of Salisbury with its cathedral, wealth of amenities, restaurants and places to visit. We are surrounded by farm land. There are 2 pubs in the valley, one is a 10-15 minute walk down a footpath - sturdy shoes/boots and a torch are essential. The other is a 5 minute drive away. We are situated 4 miles from Stonehenge, about an hour from the famous city of Bath, the South Coast and the historic city of Winchester. We are also 2 miles from Old Sarum Castle (the old Salisbury).
  • We absolutely loved our stay in the Shepherds Hut - it was so nice to be able to get away from everything for a night with limited phone signal and no Wi-Fi. The freshly homemade bread and breakfast bits was a lovely finishing touch. Even on a cold evening the swim spa was amazing!!! We would love to return again and very much hope to do so in the future! Our pug also loved her time there too!

  • Magical hut hideaway ... with a super fun swim spa ... snug and cosy :o)

    Wendy2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely country getaway. Lovely situated for us to venture into the new forest. Great that we had access to a spa and could relax. Was nice that there was no reception so we could switch off. It was clean comfortable and the breakfast ingredients left were lovely. Thanks Fiona we will definitely visit again

  • Great little Shepherd's hut. Loads of character and super cosy!

    Thomas2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice little hut, great views and hot tub fantastic.

    Ben2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great location, private, yet Fiona is on hand should you need anything: a view to gaze at, a super comfortable bed: lots provided for breakfast. Should you wish to be energetic, there is the swim spa (which I now know is a hot tub big enough to do swim strokes in, heated to a very pleasant temperature) It was raining and blowing when I sampled it, and the water was so warm that with shoulders under the weather could do what ever it wanted, I was happy!

  • The Shepherd's Hut is beautifully situated with views overlooking hills and the river Avon. I cannot put into words what first took our breath away, the views, the clean and welcoming hut or the barn owl hunting in the field next to us. Inside was clean and cosy and the smell of the freshly baked loaf of bread was very welcoming. The fridge was stocked with more then expected with eggs, bacon, a choice of milk , juice and jams. The water was hot and the cooking facilities worked well and the bed was very comfortable. There was informative information regarding local amenities and we enjoyed a delicious meal in the local pub The Wheatshef, following the directions left in the hut. The hot tub was a glorious end to a long day exploring Stonehenge, the water was a wonderful tempreture and you can enjoy a heaven full of stars on a clear night. It is tucked in a peacfull and private corner of the garden. It is also only a 15 minute drive from Stonehenge and 20 minutes from Sailsbury. We throughly enjoyed our stay at The SHepherd's Hut and would be very happy to return.

  • We had a lovely time at the Shepherd's hut, the location was beautiful and the hut was so cosy. Having private use of the hot tub which is just behind the hut was great, and Fiona had left us some delicious homemade vegan bread. We would definitely stay here again, and would like to come back in the Summer.

Please see below for Covid-19 measures Self-contained shepherds hut in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The perfect glamping experience for lovers of the outdoors who prefer some warm home comforts. Fully insulated and heated. South facing with stunning views, surrounded by wildlife and the New Forest on the doorstep. Self Check in. Great pub, award winning farm shop and 2 cafes all walkable. Quick and easy access to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches nearby.
    * In light of the Covid 19 health emergency, I’d like to reassure my guests that I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I clean and disinfect all surfaces, the bathroom and kitchen including the cupboard handles, window furniture, door handles, light switches, soap dispenser, washing up liquid bottle, tv remote control, the door key, etc. The bedding and towels are washed at 60 degrees and for now I have removed the scatter cushions and blanket on the bed unless I can wash and dry them ready for my next guests. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else if you don’t wish to. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! It’s self check in so you don’t even have to have any contact with me! I have also set our booking calendar to allow for the hut to be empty for 24 hours between guests rather than guests leaving and arriving on the same day. *Length of stay discounts automatically apply to stays of 3 nights or more and increases the more nights that are booked with 15% off weekly bookings (7 nights). * Late booking discounts. *No extra cleaning fee charged. Situated on the north/west side of the New Forest National Park, a very short drive from the historic market towns of Fordingbridge and Ringwood, ‘Maurietty’ offers an idyllic place to relax and unwind. Located away from roads and a short way along a forest track, it is set on the edge of our 3 ½ acre grounds approximately 100 metres from our house (which is out of view). Stunning south facing views across our paddocks and countryside beyond. However you are not isolated here - there is quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer (if you can tear yourself away from your little retreat!). There is a footpath at the back of our house which goes along the edge of our paddocks which is the best route to take to Hockeys Farm Shop and cafe, and The Royal Oak Pub is a 20 minute walk away (left out of our gates to bottom of track and turn right). There is another café 'The Potting Shed' in Hyde which is approx. a 15/20 minute walk across the common (left out of our gates, up track a short way and take first right at 'Gorley Firs' which will take you up onto the common). This shepherd's hut offers character and comfort in spades. The little bijou beauty is like a tardis offering a warm and cosy retreat. Inside the fully insulated bespoke hut you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. A bathroom with 800x800 shower, wc, wash basin and electric ladder radiator. A kitchenette with belfast sink, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, electric cooking/frying pan, small chiller fridge, all cutlery and crockery and electric radiator. The 4'6" double bed is built in across one end of the hut with storage underneath, a window and tv with built in freesat and dvd player for those british rainy days when you might want to tuck up and get cosy and watch a film. South facing double french doors flood the hut with sunshine on brighter days and provide a beautiful view out across open fields. Outside there is a designated parking space right next to the hut and an outdoor seating area looking out at the view. Access to the property is via an electric gated entrance for which you will be provided with a code. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the hut is the open New Forest. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Award- winning farm shop and cafe that also offers bike hire 0.5 mile (follow the footpath that starts at the back corner of our property), horse riding 1 mile, watersports and fishing lakes 2 miles, thatched pub with restaurant 1 mile (15/20 minute walk). Ringwood (with a Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsbury's) 5 miles and Fordingbridge (with a Co-op and Tesco Express) 2.5 miles. ****If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please send me a booking request and I will try to accommodate you. ****Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs in the hut. ****Please have a look through the ‘house rules’ and it’s important you follow my directions to find us easily. ****Please note that WiFi can be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed! It’s something we’ve learnt to live with. We can always pick up 3G or 4G.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England.

  • Fabulous place recommend to anyone for a relaxing break away

    Belinda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a 2 night stay at the Bothy to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place was perfect for our short break. The weather wasn't great (wet and windy) but the cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming. We already had a wood turning experience booked locally so had planned for the winter weather, but in the better weather you'd be spoilt for things to do locally. We ate out at The Red Lion, within walking distance one night. Fab food and would also highly recommend. Loved the welcoming touches of bread, milk, orange juice, croissants and the infamous chocolate muffins.

    Alison2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat was just what we needed a perfect little get away with multiple touches from Chrissy. Would love to come back and stay again. Thank you for making it so special. Couldn’t recommend enough.

We will definitely book again and recommend to others.

Our cosy Studio for 2 nestles on the edge of woodland, yet only 5 mins away from Shaftesbury in Dorset. Wake up to bird song, go for long walks right from the door step, explore many nearby attractions, enjoy a meal or drink on the private terrace. It is possible to have a third person staying. Please indicate 3 people when booking and we will make an airbed, bedding and towels available. There is a charge of £15 per night for a third person. Please be aware that the place is small!
This self contained, modern & comfortable studio annex as its own entrance with private terrace and outdoor space. The property sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty, nestled on the hillside on the edge of ancient woodland. The property is set in 1 acre of wildlife gardens in a quiet hamlet just 5 minutes drive from the historic hill town of Shaftesbury on the border between Dorset and Wiltshire. We are located about 1.5miles outside Shaftesbury in a small hamlet on the edge of the woods. The Studio has a very comfortable King size bed (5 feet wide and 6 feet 6 inches long – 150 x 198 cm), well equipped kitchenette, sitting & dining area, a quite small shower room with basin and toilet, and a walk-in wardrobe/storage. Ideal for walking holidays and short breaks. The studio is well located if you want to visit the End of the Road Festival or Larmer Tree Festival. The kitchenette is well equipped, including full size fridge with freezer compartment, oven with grill, 2 plate induction hob, kettle, toaster and extractor fan. The Studio is ideal for individual travellers, close friends or couples (we welcome all couples!). We're also happy to accommodate parents with babies, but you will need to bring your own cot. Please note that children need to be supervised in the garden! There is a 42" TV with Freesat and DVD player, free Wifi Internet connection (although this can sometimes be slow or disrupted because of our rural location - we can therefore not guarantee the internet service) and stereo speakers for plugging in your iPod or MP3 Player. A selections of DVDs, games and books are available. Outside is a picnic table. You can view the many different birds on the bird feeders, stroll around the wild gardens or sit in one of several quiet benches around the garden. Please note that we basically live in the woods, so there is no view from the Studio terrace. However, guests are welcome to stroll to the end of the garden and enjoy some views from the bench. There is a well stocked village store only 2 miles away in the village of Ludwell, a small grocery store at the petrol station 1 mile away. In Shaftesbury you will find a large Tesco superstore and a lovely town centre with interesting shops and cafés including some very nice food shops. There's a market on Thursday mornings. Shaftesbury is famous for its Gold Hill (from the Hovis Bread ad), it's Abbey, historic buildings and the amazing views across the Blackmore Vale. Salisbury is only 35mins drive to the east and Bath an hour north. An hours drive will also get you to some of the most stunning beaches of the Jurrasic Coast. We have created our house and the Studio as environmentally friendly as possible. We have solar panels to help heat the water and Solar PV to generate electricity. Rainwater is collected and feeds the toilets in the house. We use environmentally friendly cleaning materials and recycle and compost. Please help by separating your recyclables from normal household rubbish. The Studio is extremely well insulated and has central heating. Please note: both the central heating and hot water are heated by an air source heat pump. This is a very efficient and low energy system but works on low temperatures. Therefore please wait 10 minutes between showers, as there may otherwise not be enough hot water available. Similarly the central heating does work on low heat, therefore please don't expect the radiators to be piping hot. The temperature in the Studio should always be comfortable. If not, please let us know as the settings may need adjusting. What makes our place unique is the location. You will be right at the edge of the woods. Deer and badgers sometimes visit the garden and we have an abundance of different birds including Woodpeckers, Long Tail Tits, Jays, Song Thrushes and Bull Finches. You will find some wonderful walks (short and long) right on your doorstep. Yet we are only a 5 minute drive from Shaftesbury, Dorset which has an good selections of independent shops & cafés and a large Tesco. You can park free in Tesco carpark for 3 hours and walk into town from there. The Jurassic Coast (Poole, Studland, Weymouth) or Bath are within an hours drive. We run a non-smoking property, but you are welcome to smoke outside. Just leave your cigarette butts in the receptacle provided outside your entry door. We have a dog ourselves, so know how difficult it is to find accommodation that allows dogs. As the Studio is only a one-room accommodation, it is not suitable for large dogs. But if you do want to bring a small dog, please ask and we will consider it. A surcharge of £5 per night for bringing a dog applies. We also have a cat, Misty. She's basically an outdoor cat, but she likes to manipulate guests to let her into the Studio. You should know this if you're allergic to cats, as we cannot guarantee that the Studio doesn't contain allergens. Also if you do not want her in your room, just chuck her out and keep the windows open only a small gap at night, as otherwise you might receive an unwanted visitor.
My favourite thing about living here is that one can go on walks from 30 minutes to 3 hours through the most glorious country side and woodlands right from our door step. Guests always comment on how well they sleep here because it is so quite and how they like being woken up by bird song. You really are in the midst of nature, yet only a 5 minute drive away from Shaftesbury on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. You can walk into town if you wish. It will take you approximately 40-45 minutes through fields and woodland. Salisbury is a 40 mins and day-trips can be taken to Bath, Stourhead, Poole, Weymouth and the Jurassic Coast.
  • I enjoyed my few days away in the comfortable and peaceful space of the eco hideaway. It is beautifully put together, with modern fittings and views looking out on the garden. The town of Shaftesbury is close by, and I especially loved Park Walk. Gabriela and Neil are friendly and responsive hosts who I would highly recommend. Thank you again for a lovely stay!

Excellent access to lots of lovely places - Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Stourhead, Jurassic Coast. Bed made up with 100% Egyptian cotton linen, towels provided. Gas rings, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine. NB The steps to mezzanine are quite steep. No bath, only a shower. NB There is wifi but being in the country it is not strong enough to download movies etc
  • The barn is a lovely space in a great location and with fabulous facilities. We spent our weekend hiding away from 'Storm Dennis' and the wood burner and full kitchen made all the difference. We'd have no hesitation in recommending to future guests and we'll definitely be returning. Many thanks Cara.

  • A place of ultimate relaxation and switch off. We had a wonderful time at Cara’s barn, and would definitely recommend a visit!

    Joan2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet location. Chance to spot wildlife if you're interested, e.g. rabbits, birds, deer. Reccomend to bring wellies/boots to enjoy the surrounding fields despite wet weather

    Jarrett2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Wonderful barn conversion. Beautifully renovated and with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend.

    Cavell2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t recommend the barn highly enough! What a delightful space to get some peace and quiet. It’s beautiful and secluded and basically a perfect base for exploring an awesome corner of England. Make sure to take advantage of the wood burning stove and if you’re into it - the clay pigeon shooting on offer. It’s tricky but so much fun (after all there really aren’t enough places on Airbnb that give you access to a shotgun)

  • We had a lovely few nights at the Pink Tower. Found it difficult to find but it was very dark when we arrived! The place was very clean and Linda was very helpful. The tower is about 20 mins drive from anything but this was fine for us. Overall very cosy..bed was especially cosy and not built for anyone over 6 foot! Hopefully we will be able to return one day.

Wise Cottage is a 250 year old cottage with a boutique feel and sweeping views situated in a beautiful village near Shaftesbury, Dorset. The cottage sleeps four, 1 large master bedroom with a super kingsize bed and a small bedroom with adult bunks (plus a guest bed for a fifth guest). Well behaved dogs are welcome! Organic toiletries, bath robes, well equipped kitchen, wood burner, super fast Wifi, garden, beautiful walks straight out of the front door, use of local tennis club.
** Covid 19 update** We understand the concern you may have about a holiday now and the closure of pubs and restaurants. What we can say is that most of the wonderful eateries around us are offering a take away service, some of them with free delivery, and so you can enjoy restaurant quality food at home, or eaten in the garden (big table and benches). We have added some of our favourites in the 'other things to note' section. There are many National Trust places around us that are open and some are waiving entry fees. Wonderful walks straight out of the front door as well of course. There is a large sitting room with oak dining table and contemporary chairs, a well fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The main bedroom has an upholstered Super kingsize bed with Vi Spring mattress, high quality microfibre duvets and bed linens. The second bedroom has full size bunk beds. Polished wooden floors, Roger Oates runners, sisal flooring and soft Moroccan rugs make up the flooring in the cottage. The bathroom has a pressurised shower and bath. Plenty of towels are provided as well as an organic soaps and shampoo range. The bathroom is situated downstairs opposite the kitchen. The garden is situated up steps from the cottage, it is probably not easily accessed by anyone disabled or infirm. It is a cottage garden, not highly manicured but with wonderful views in every direction. A table and chairs and a barbecue and tongs are also provided. There is a side access to the garden and it is fenced, so will contain a not overly ambitious dog. There is complimentary use of local tennis courts at Pythouse Club, about a two mile drive from the cottage. Please bring your own raquets and balls! Wonderful Pythouse Walled Garden is minutes from the courts for coffees and lunches. The cottage has a Samsung 32" smart TV with all the catch up services as well as Netflix and Amazon, super fast broad band, a small office with desk. Mobile reception is good, but patchy in the downstairs rooms. There is a wood burner and kindling/logs for the first night or two (bags of logs and kindling are sold at the shop a few yards from the cottage), iPod dock, Roberts radio, smart TV, towels, high quality linen and bathrobes. The kitchen is fully equipped with all china and cutlery, pans, casserole dishes, salad bowls, a Nespresso coffee maker (with coffee capsules!) and there is a supply of tea bags, coffee, sugar, olive oil, flour, herbs and salt and pepper to start you off. We always leave a breakfast pack of fresh local bread, home made jam, butter and milk. A folding guest bed can be put up in the sitting room or master bedroom for a fifth person which is fine for a night or two, but unless a young child, it is not ideally suited for five people.
The cottage is set in the beautiful village of East Knoyle (birthplace of Sir Christopher Wren) on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, amid rolling scenery. The village has an award winning community shop (a few yards from the cottage) and an excellent pub, as well as a playground and endless footpaths through fields and woods for dog walking. You will have guest membership of our local tennis club at Pythouse, a couple of miles from the cottage. If you wish to explore the West Country there are few better places to be situated. The Georgian city of Bath is 20 miles away, Salisbury 17 miles, the hilltop town of Shaftesbury with it's famous monastery ruins and Gold Hill is 4 miles and the Jurassic coast an hour's drive. Longleat and Centre Parks is only 8 miles away. There are numerous stately homes (Longleat being the most famous), castles and gardens within easy striking distance, some a couple of miles from the cottage and superb gastro pubs and restaurants nearby. There is plenty of information in the cottage and suggestions of where to visit, where to eat and where to shop. Just an hour away is the New Forest which is great to explore on foot or by bike. There are maps in the house and you can rent bikes at the wonderfully helpful Forest Leisure Cycling in Burley where there are also loads of cafes, pubs & shops. Flying Experiences at Compton Abbas Airfield - from flying in vintage aircraft and driving classic cars to the airfield for champagne lunch... and flying lessons. Dorset Art Weeks: For two weeks every year (Typically end of May & beginning June) Artists all over Dorset open up their homes and studios to visitors to browse their work, learn about their techniques and inspiration and purchase direct from the artists themselves. There are also two extraordinary contemporary galleries with excellent cafes/restaurants nearby - Messums in Tisbury and Hauser and Wirth in Bruton - both definitely worth a visit.
  • Beautiful little cottage, wonderfully comfy beds, peace and quiet, great walks in the countryside and really useful local tips from Vanessa. Thank you so much - we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

  • Such a lovely cottage, loved the little touches like fresh bread (amazing when we came in late and stressed from London), butter, milk and jam. Fireplace was just the ticket for a weekend away, and host was kind when we were a little tardy and reluctant to leave on Sunday. Recommended :)

  • A warm cosy cottage in a great location with a wonderful local village shop

    Sophie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • First stay in this delightful cottage and it didn’t disappoint. The lovely little additions of a welcome pack were wonderful and we also appreciated the Complementary shower gel, hand wash and hand cream. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage and certainly want to return again. It was the perfect break just what we were looking for

    Les2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend to others. Loved every minute of our stay. Vanessa's little extra touches made us feel really welcome. The cottage was so cosy and comfortable, and the local shop has everything you could ever need! :)

Church Path Cottage is a spacious two bedroomed cottage in the grounds of The Old Vicarage. It has its own access into the church car park and a path that provides a two minute walk to the centre of the village and the award winning country pub 'The Horseshoe'. Church Path Cottage is ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility or as a base to explore South Wiltshire and Dorset. The New Forest, Studland Beach, Stonehenge & the Cities of Salisbury and Bath are all within an hour's drive.
Situated on the edge of the village, Church Path Cottage has gorgeous country views that change with the seasons. The cottage has a good size open plan living, kitchen & dining room. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms with lovely uninterrupted views and a spacious landing that houses a daybed. The bathroom has a modern white suite with bath, wc, twin basins and a separate shower cubicle.
Ebbesbourne Wake is a gem of a village nestling in the renowned Chalke Valley between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. The valley offers amazing walking, cycling and geo-caching. Annually there is the Chalke Valley History Festival in neighbouring Broad Chalke. Just twenty minutes drive is Shaftesbury with its famous Gold Hill. Golfers can play at Rushmore Park, Salisbury & South Wilts or High Post and there is racing at nearby Salisbury and Wincanton Racecourses.
  • We had a lovely stay here! Fab, clean place with very comfy beds and lovely welcome basket. Perfect for a countryside escape. Reccomend the village pub and local walks 🙂

  • Just spent 2 happy nights at Louise’s cottage with our two young daughters. The cottage is spacious and very cosy. It was spotlessly clean and everything is new. Very well stocked for self catering and a great place with kids. Lots of interesting stuff to do/see in the area like Wardour Castle and the Messums Gallery. Highly recommend if you want to explore South Wilts.

  • I had a great stay here. The room is well equipped with kettle, fridge, microwave and en suite. The house is ideally located in Wilton and Corinne and Mick were great hosts, allowing me to wash my dirty cycling kit, check out later than planned and overall were really nice and friendly people. Definitely recommend.

  • I had a great stay at Corrine’s place. Corrine, her husband Mick and their family were so warm, friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and they didn’t make me feel like I was intruding. I was given a key to the house and was able to come and go as I needed to. The space was great, really clean and cosy with a really comfortable bed and great shower. They provided breakfast cereal, a fridge of milk and water, and the provision to heat and eat a meal and have a variety of hot drinks. I would definitely recommend staying at Corrine’s. Thank you.

Light, airy newly decorated bedroom suitable for 1 or 2 guests, with en-suite. The bed can be configured as a single, double or twin. Bus stop right outside the house for a regular bus route into town. Local Co-Op 2 minutes walk away and 20 minutes walk to the train station, Stonehenge bus tour and into town. There's also riverside walks close by. We can recommend places to eat and interesting places to visit, having lived in the area for 14 years.
You are very welcome to our 4 bedroom semi-detached house, with free parking, in a residential area only 20 minutes walk from the town centre. This is an excellent base to explore Salisbury and the South West from on holiday or to have a restful haven during a business trip. • Friendly family and a clean, tidy room.

    Richard2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew and Emma's house is a gorgeous place for a short or long stay. With a bus stop right outside and buses every 10 minutes it is super easy to access the Salisbury city centre and stone henge (if that's your aim). The room itself is lovely - a big comfy bed, loads of storage space, a clean and private ensuite and an incredibly thoughtful tea station with tea ingredients, porridge for the morning and a kettle. There are even a TV, DVD player and a load of lovely books. Emma was a lovely, friendly host ready to welcome me even with my late-night transport issues and I really loved my entire time in their house!

The house is a striking property between the railway and the river and a minutes walk from the lovely high street of Tisbury. A former railway hotel, the house has bags of character with bright rooms and high ceilings. The double bedroom is comfortable and light with a King size bed and right next to the bathroom for your convenience. We are still in the midst of renovations but this will have no impact on your stay. You will love the location, the quiet and the green spaces on our doorstep.
The bedroom is at the back of the House and we sleep at the front so you will have lots of privacy. Although we are quite close to the railway there are only two trains an hour and they stop about 11pm. We really don't notice them only sometimes when a vintage steam engine thunders past but that is very very rare. If you open your window you will hear the river down below the house and on a Saturday the muffled shouts of football players in the field on the other side of the river but that is about as noisy as it gets. It really is very peaceful. If there is more in your party than two I have another room listed which I only let to friends travelling together as they have to share the bathroom with you. Let me know if you are interested in also booking the adjoining double room and I will unblock it.
If you are planning to come to Tisbury by train for a weekend wedding or just an overnighter we couldn't be in a more convenient location. Lots of local sights like Messums Art Gallery are within walking distance and Tisbury High Street has a lovely Cafe called Beaton's and a great wine bar/shop called the Bottle Shop. There is also a convenient small Co op and a Boots and the rest are all interesting independent shops including a deli. There are some super places to eat within a five mile radius like The Beckford Inn, Pitt House and Howards House Hotel but a car will be needed (or bike) and reservations advised. If you want to visit Salisbury we are twenty minutes away by train and as the House is so close to the station it couldn't be easier. If you want to you can pick up a coach at Salisbury station to visit Stone Henge, again very convenient and easy. We are just eleven miles from the historic town of Shaftesbury which is always worth a visit and if you want to explore North Dorset and Hardy country that is all within a short driving distance.
  • This is a great place to stay, I have stayed here 4 times since September last year, which is in itself a recommendation. Each time I have been made so welcome by Julie-Ann & George. Though compact Tisbury is a great place for finding delicious or useful and beautiful things. I can recommend Genius Coffee & Beaton’s for food and drinks (the home cooked mini croissant delivered from the oven at Genius on Saturday morning were fantastic!). And excellent locally roasted coffee too. Tisbury Deli is great for different cheeses and other nice things to eat and you can buy a beautiful hand thrown pottery plate to eat them from just a step away from the Deli! I can also recommend a visit to Messums in Wiltshire tithe barn gallery, and the café there is certainly up to the standard of the other places to eat and drink!

Cosy and private well-equipped loft space in a rural setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historic sites, excellent walking routes and countless country pubs are easily accessible. This warm, comfortable and stylishly decorated studio guest suite, with a separate entrance, sits above a detached garage looking up towards the family home. The house is in a tranquil 4 acre plot with fields and a barn and lovely views from your personal raised sundeck.
Come and go as you please via the private terrace - also great for breakfasts or sundowners al fresco - with parking space underneath. There is a small anteroom for coats and boots, also the home of the kitchenette, which opens through to the main space. There’s a double bed, table, sitting area and modern bathroom with shower. In the ‘ kitchenette area’, you have the use of a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine, small fridge, kettle, microwave and mini electric oven. There is no hob or sink so it's only suitable for breakfast and snacks.
Tisbury is just 10 minutes off the A303, and once you are here local towns are within easy access. You are 15 minutes from Shaftesbury, home of the famous Gold Hill, and 20 minutes’ drive from Salisbury where you can see Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the 123m cathedral spire, particularly famous in Russia. Tisbury station is also on the main south-west trainline from London to Exeter.

Lovely place to live and close walking distance to the city centre (30-minutes on foot). Great bus route also. There is a small convenience store on the corner and a fish & chip shop and Cooperative just yards away along Wilton road. The Horse and Groom is also along Wilton road and is a nice traditional city pub that serves good food at a good price. Like walking/cycling? We are also only a 1 minute walk from the beautiful village of Lower Bemerton. Here you can pick up the broken bridges walk. A lovely walk about 2. 5 miles to the city centre. Walk through beautiful wooded countryside alongside the water meadows and the river Nadder. Fancy a pint or a spot of lunch? Why not stop en route at the Harnham Mill Inn. A 15th century building with features dating back to 1250. It's here you pick up the town path, a paved footpath that crosses the meadows which boast the fantastic view of the Cathedral that was voted 'Best View in Britain' in a Country Life poll. The path ends at Elizabeth Gardens, a lovely Riverside park within Salisbury's city centre. A great walk for all to enjoy! Other local places you may like to visit: * Driving range for golf enthusiasts is just down the road along Wilton Rd. * Old Sarum Castle. 40 minutes walk through the beautiful countryside. Or a 10 minute car journey. Breathtaking views of the city. *Stonehenge. We are a 30-minute walk away from the train station that offers the Stonehenge bus tour (the only bus tour available in Salisbury).

  • Lovely room, wonderful hosts and great hospitality! I felt very welcome, and was very comfortable. It's a bit of a trek to the bathroom (via living room and kitchen) but night lights were left on, and Katie made me feel very comfortable walking through family spaces.

    Helen2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ten out of ten in all aspects. Katie and her family gave me a big warm hearted welcome that continued through my stay. There were many thoughtful touches backed up with total efficiency and value for money. I shall be making Katie my first option when I return to Salisbury.

A cosy, rural retreat in the beautiful Chalke Valley, just a 10 minute drive from the Cathedral City of Salisbury. Raglands Upper Mews is in the grounds of a family owned country house set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for getting away from it all and exploring the local countryside, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and much more. Click my profile picture to see the other property I host at the same location.
Renovated to a high standard throughout with everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The living area is an open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room. There is a butterfly table which can be set to seat 4, a big comfy sofa, a TV, books and some family games. The kitchen is immaculate, with all new appliances. On arrival there will be tea, coffee, biscuits, bread and preserves. The bathroom has a bath with shower and there is a heated towel rail. Towels, loo roll and hand soap all provided. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other has two singles. There is a wardrobe, large chest of drawers and a nightlight for children. From the windows you can see down to the river Ebble and watch the wildlife in the wooded area. Outside you have a private area in our grounds. A sunken, almost hidden herb garden, with a dining table and chairs, bench seat and BBQ. A footpath runs along our drive and within minutes you can be in open fields with breathtaking views and beautiful walks.
There are two village shops about a 5 minute drive away from us in opposite directions. Chalke Valley Stores, locally known as the Hub, comprises a shop, post office and a coffee shop. It stocks lots of fresh food from local suppliers and while you are picking up your supplies you can indulge in a delicious cream tea. Coombe Bissett Stores is a traditional village shop and post office, with essentials and local produce. The ancient historic town of Wilton, is 7 minutes away where you will find a larger selection of shops, including a large Co op. Wilton is also home to Wilton House and Gardens with the very popular adventure playground for the kids, a firm favourite with ours. For cyclists, part of the Wiltshire Cycleway runs along the valley. Salisbury race course is a couple of minutes drive away. We are just a few minutes from Broad Chalke, the home of the Chalke Valley History Festival, which takes place at the end of June each year. It’s the largest festival dedicated entirely to history in the UK. Also well situated for Gurston Down speed hill climb. The Chalke Valley is a great base for exploring the South West of England. Bath, Winchester, Shaftesbury, the New Forest and the world famous Jurassic coast of Dorset are all within easy reach by car. Salisbury Cathedral is a 10 minute drive away. World famous Stonehenge is a 20 minute drive. Paultons Park with Peppa pig world is a 35 minute drive. Longleat is a 50 minute drive.

The Milk Parlour is a charming thatched building in the highest village in Dorset. The fusion of traditional and modern themes in the building make for a comfortable and cosy feel. Wonderful views and walking from the village ensure your stay with us will be memorable. Our dog friendly accommodation means your four footed friend can join you as you explore the delights of North Dorset's rolling hills. Steve and Sara look forward to welcoming you.
As you will see from the aerial photo, our house is opposite the Milk Parlour but you are sufficiently far away to be quite private. We will respect your privacy but equally love to meet our guests and give nuggets of advice on the local area if required. The accommodation is open plan living/dining/kitchen with a separate bedroom. The section with the glazed doors attached to the Milk Parlour is our office and we do wander back and forth from time to time but will leave you in peace. Part of the garden is available for your use but you have your own sitting area directly outside which enjoys the sunshine all day. The Wifi is very fast and you have access to our netflix account. There is no bath but a spacious shower. As well as the listed amenities you also have a dishwasher. The Milk Parlour is completely self contained and when we are not around you will be given a code for the key safe before you arrive.
Ashmore is famous for being the highest village in Dorset and enjoys the fabulous views you would expect. It is an active rural community with working arable farms. The village sits on Cranborne Chase which is hoping to become the UK’s first AONB to achieve dark sky recognition and there are only currently 11 of these in the world.- so you will need a torch! We are within ten minutes of Shaftesbury with the famous Gold Hill which featured in the historic Hovis advert. Shaftesbury is a charming hilltop town with pubs , coffee shops and independent retailers . We are well placed for Salisbury, Bath, Poole and the Jurassic coast. Other places of interest include Stourhead, Longleat and Stonehenge There are some beautiful secluded beaches around 45mins away by car and other landmarks all within a short drive. We are blessed with great dining pubs in the area so do some internet surfing before you arrive and there is a list of our favourites in the information file. N.B There is no pub or shop in the village

    Rohan2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • 100% exceeded our expectations, pictures do not do this place justice! If you are looking for a romantic/relaxing retreat this is ideal. The bath in the bedroom was perfect and the place had all the amenities you'd need and more. All the homely welcoming touches and extras made our stay even more perfect and the hosts were very welcoming and accomodating. Very quick responses and quick to help with any queries/issues you may have. Considering this place is really new I'm extremely impressed at the service offered they seem to have thought of everything you'd need! We will definetly be back at some point and will recommend to our friends and family. Thanks Lesley and Mick! :-)

    Lucy2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a great find! As other reviews have said the pictures really don’t do this beautiful cabin justice. It’s in such a relaxing setting and the roll top bath was a lovely touch. Lesley was very quick to response to messages and on site if needed, proving as much or little contact as you liked. It had everything you needed for the stay. I would highly recommend this beautiful place for a very reasonable price. Thank you Lesley hope to come again soon. Many thanks Lucy and Luke

  • Amazing stay, gorgeous lodge. Our friends came to get ready with us and they were really jealous of us staying there. It was lovely to have a bath in the morning in the room with cuppa. We definitely would love to come back again. The hostesses are easy to reach by text which is useful for us because we are Deaf. Thank you

  • Lovely flat, very clean and all appliances that you would need. Lovely courtyard garden and peaceful environment.

    Sonia2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Louis is very helpful and met us on arrival. The Retreat was very clean and comfortable and is well located for Shaftesbury and the Wiltshire villages. Very much enjoyed our stay

    Peter2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, as other have said- don't underestimate the steps. Getting your stuff down is easy but dragging it back up again was more difficult. Nice to have an oven and washing machine to use should we of needed too and a fridge! Fully read the directions from Louis, took us about 4 attempts going up and down the road continually turning around to find the turning. The image on Google maps is a lie haha other than that absolutely beautiful!!

    Ruby2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Retreat was a perfect find for us as a base to explore the area a little on a short break. Louis was a very welcoming host and his set up has been very thoughtfully put together, providing home from home comforts. We certainly hope to return again!

    David2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • What’s a place, where to start... Louis welcomed us in person and showed us the accommodation, the communication was perfect from the start to the end. You’ll be amazed by the driveway and the garden, and nothing can beat the view!!! We’ve enjoyed our stay so much, the cat Jess and the dog Dora have shown us the best hospitality in Dorset!! We enjoyed playing with them before going for our adventure! The location is perfect if you want to explore Dorset and Wiltshire! There are a few lovely pubs around, we have tried The Grove Arms where they do yummy food in big portions! The accommodation itself is clean and comfortable, Louis even provided a welcome pack! Thank you Louis for our lovely stay!! Highly recommended this place to anyone who would like to explore the beautiful surroundings!!

    Mathew2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed self contained accomodation. Beautifully clean and lovely garden to enjoy.

    Rebecca2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb experience! We were impressed. Spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and a lovely welcome pack. There are a few steps to apartment but they're not too steep and there are handrails. The little courtyard off the bedroom is cute and when the sun is shining it's lovely to sit there with a cuppa! Louis's garden is very pretty with beautiful views. Ah and Louis's little dog is very sweet and incredibly well behaved.

The sofa is also wiped down with hot water and bleach. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! Little Gate House is located a short drive up a forest gravel track set on it’s own in the corner of our 3 ½ acre grounds providing visitors with a high degree of privacy and peace. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II and Little Gate House was one of the original maycrete buildings. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the cabin is the open New Forest providing a whopping 140,000 acres of stunning landscape to explore. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as owls, woodpeckers and buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Well designed, the Little Gate House provides a compact yet light and airy space. Inside the fully insulated bespoke cabin, you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. Living room open plan with fully equipped kitchen/dining area with full height ceilings, a wood-burning stove and double French doors opening onto a large area of south-facing decking. Although guests have the convenience of access straight onto the New Forest, there is also quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer. Riding stables 1 mile, watersports/fishing 2 miles, award-winning 'Hockey's Farm' shop and café 10 min walk, the lovely 'Royal Oak' thatched pub and restaurant 20 min walk, 'The Potting Shed' café at Hyde 20 min walk. To walk to Hockeys Farm - left out of electric gates, walk up track behind our property and take the footpath on the left at the corner of our boundary fence, walk through paddocks padding my riding arena and across bottom field. Turn right onto the country lane and follow it to Hockeys Farm keeping to the left as you go. To walk to The Royal Oak - turn left out of electric gates and follow track to end and turn right onto the quiet country lane which will lead you to the pub which will be on your left. To walk to The Potting Shed - go left out of electric gates, go up track a little way and take the first right turn at a house called ‘Gorley Firs’. Walk to top of hill and stay straight and then walk down the hill onto Gorley Common. Walk straight across the common and on the other side of it you’ll walk up a short hill to a forest car park. Walk through the car park and turn left onto the country lane and follow it round to the cafe which will be on your right in a hamlet called ‘Hyde’. ***If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please message me and I will try to accommodate you. ***We also have a fantastic newly built shepherds hut ('Maurietty') on with Airbnb which would enable a group of 4 people to come away together (2 in the hut and 2 in the cabin). ***Please note that WiFi can sometimes be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed. It’s something we’ve learnt to live with - thank goodness for 4G!! ***Extra charge of £25 for a dog payable in cash during your stay.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I (known as William the Conqueror) as a hunting area, principally deer. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape of his ‘Nova Foresta’ remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England. The park lies mainly in south-west Hampshire, from east of the Avon Valley to Southampton water and from the Solent coast to the edge of the Wiltshire chalk downs covering some 140,000 acres. It is a unique area of historical, ecological and agricultural significance, and retains many of the rural practices conceded by the Crown in historical times to local people. Principal of these is the pasturing of ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys in the open forest by local inhabitants known as commoners. It is an outstanding recreational area for walking, cycling and riding. North Gorley is a hamlet in the New Forest National Park. Its nearest town is Fordingbridge, which lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the hamlet. North Gorley is very quiet and has narrow country lanes which we share with ponies, donkeys, cattle, deer, horse riders etc. North Gorley has one inn, The Royal Oak, which claims to be a former Royal hunting lodge and is a 5 minute drive or a 15/20 minute walk and serves great food. Guests can also walk to the award-winning café and farm shop 'Hockeys Farm' which is approx. half a mile away in South Gorley . They serve an all day cooked breakfast and also provide a bike hire service. It's a 5 minute drive to the A338 which gives access north to Fordingbridge and the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, and south to Ringwood and the A31 east to Southampton and west to Bournemouth and Poole. It's a 25 minute drive to the South Coast's beautiful beaches. The New Forest is known as a lovely tourist honey pot, but there is a big local secret: the north west quarter is quiet and remote. This is the 'proper' Forest with lovely quiet countryside, animals galore, and even on a bank holiday weekend you can still walk for miles without meeting another person. However, The tourist towns and villages such as Burley, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington are all easily accessible and well worth a visit. Our favourite is Lymington which is a beautiful 35/40 minute drive through The New Forest going through Burley. Beaulieu is also very quaint and picturesque with an Abbey and there's a lovely walk from Beaulieu village centre to Bucklers Hard.
  • Perfect cosy spot ...ideal location to explore the New Forrest on foot or by car. Highly recommended.

    Doug2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely base to explore the surrounding area, the host was excellent and the property exactly as advertised - clean, tidy, well presented and perfectly positioned.

  • We had a fantastic stay in beautiful surroundings. The cabin is amazing, it’s so cosy during cold, wet nights and if the sun shines the outlook across the fields is stunning! Jo has thought of everything, there’s loads of info on the surrounding area and you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to good pubs or farm shops etc in the area. It really is a perfect escape and we’d highly recommend!

    Steve2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing time to getaway with a cozy and comfortable house with a beautiful view in the morning

    Liam2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully cleaned well equipped cabin with beautiful scenery of Woodlands. Feel very safe and secluded inside the grounds with the electric gates. Every thing is available for your needs, hair dryer, shampoo even an ironing board. Literally jo has thought of everything. We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we took our youngest. We took our own travel cot which with had up in living room/kitchen area. Plenty of room. We didn't personally meet Jo however any needs she was only a phone call away, which I personally appreciated being "left to it." All instructions were easy to follow and Jo even gave us a separate set of directions because of the flooding fords. Really enjoyed our experience

    Alice2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in an idyllic setting and perfect for accessing the New Forest. We could easily have stayed longer and would love to stay there again to see more of what the New Forest has to offer. Jo is a fantastic host and provides excellent information, makes suggestions on travel and activities and checked to make sure we were totally comfortable, which we were. I highly recommend staying here. Thanks again Jo

  • Lovely picturesque cabin in a lovely part of the world

    Mark2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just so beautiful, the space is super clean and cosy, with lovely views and just an all round home-from-home. There’s everything you need for a short break, definitely so much more luxurious than camping in the new forest, but in a simple way so that you can still enjoy the nature and peace around you. Just need to make sure to follow Jo’s directions, especially if arriving after dark! Really appreciated Jo’s friendliness and helped so much with ideas of local places to visit. Hope to be back soon!

The annexe at Barn Orchard is a beautiful, light filled space in the garden of a private home. Guests can enjoy all the privacy of a home from home (off road parking, Egyptian cotton sheets, TV, wifi, garden terrace) with all the benefits of a larger rental (use of the family's amenities, including a full size tennis court with rackets and balls available). Local amenities, including an award-winning village shop and pub, are less than a minute's walk away.
Open the French doors of the Barn Orchard annexe and look out over a beautiful, tranquil garden with a stream flowing through it. Pick apples from the trees in the autumn, or sit in the dappled shade in the heat of summer. Even though the annexe is close to the family home, it has it's own secluded feel. With double aspect windows, the room is always light filled and warm and every care has been taken to make it feel as comfortable and homely as possible. The surrounding area is outstandingly beautiful. Walk out of the back of the garden and up and out onto the downs of the famous Chalke Valley. The house is also on one of Wiltshire's most popular Cyclist routes. This annexe is a haven for walkers, cyclists or just those who are looking for a quiet country retreat. A desk is provided in the annexe, making it the perfect bolt hole for writers or those with a project they are hoping to finish. Jamie and Chloe have three children, so the annexe is a very child friendly rental. We can provide toys or travel cots if needed - please just ask. If your child wants to swing on the hammock, play football in the garden or help look for chicken eggs in the morning, please just let us know. For those looking for an urban fix, the towns of Salisbury (15 mins) and Shaftesbury (25 mins) are in easy reach. The bus stop right outside the house has hourly services to both of these historic towns. Salisbury, particularly, is a very vibrant city with a plethora of shops, restaurants, cinemas and theatres to choose from. Broad Chalke is the perfect place from which to explore the whole region -whether you are a rambler or a road tripper, there is something for everyone. Why not visit Stone Henge (20 minute drive) or visit Longleat Safari Park (40 minutes)? Go riding on the downs with the local stables or scour the local antique emporiums? There really is something for everyone. Of particular note is the Chalke Valley History Festival - www.cvhf.com - which will this year take place from June 26th to July 2nd and is a short five minute walk from Barn Orchard. For those not wanting to do anything at all, Barn Orchard Annexe is the perfect place to unwind, listen to the birds and watch the sun dance on the lawn.
Broad Chalke is a very friendly neighbourhood with a strong, local community. The hub of the village is the Chalke Valley Stores (a 20 second walk from the front gates of Barn Orchard) where you can buy all your amenities or use the Post Office or coffee shop. The Queen's Head pub is the perfect place for an evening pint or a light lunch. There are wonderful walks and cycle routes on the doorstep of the property. Tisbury, a small town of great renown, is a 20 minute drive from Barn Orchard. Of particular note here are the Beckford Arms, an award-winning gastro pub, The Compasses Inn and Messums Art Gallery.
  • Extremely relaxing and quiet space, nice break from London and to be offline. Lovely little village and nice pub next door with very friendly owners. We just spent one night although wish we could’ve spent longer (and brought a car to explore). Chloe is very responsive and helpful, hopefully visit again soon.

There is also a "Thai kitchen" restaurant within 15mins walking distance - bear in mind that this restaurant only take cash, or they send you to the co-op to get cash out!

Newly fitted out to a high standard. Kitchenette, wet room with WC, living room/diner and bedroom with double bed, perfect for a couple or lone traveller. Please note ceilings are low on one side of building with kitchen and wet room. The Saxon hill top town is within 15 minutes walking distance with the famous Gold Hill, Abby Ruins and Park Walk with stunning views over the Blackmore Vale. Off road private parking in carport. On main routes in and out of town. Some traffic noise.
Formally a double garage converted into a comfortable self contained living space with everything you’ll need for a pleasurable stay. Private from the main house with covered parking right outside the front door.
We are walking distance from the small but vibrant high street of Shaftesbury. The town has monthly markets and a great fringe festival in the summer months.
  • We had a lovely weekend stay here. The space is clean, cosy, and well kitted out for its size. Only one note I would add is the ceilings are quite low so you might find yourself ducking if you're a giant like myself, should be fine for all normal sized people though! Would recommend the place to others.

    Joseph2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great value place. The sloped ceiling wasn't really an issue and I am 6ft. Great communication with host. Good kitchen utensils available. Nice stay overall 👍

An exquisite, newly decorated bedroom, overlooking our apple tree (you are welcome to pick and eat fresh apples from this tree when they are in season). The room has its own private entrance and secluded sunny courtyard so you will have total privacy from the rest of the house. You are also welcome to use our ‘snug’, complete with wood burning stove (for cosy winter nights) during your stay. We do use this room ourselves but will ensure that we vacate during your stay.
The room is a beautiful, newly decorated room with lovely white washed beams throughout and a high spec en-suite. Tea and coffee making facilities are available and freshly baked croissants will be on offer in the morning. In summer time, you have private use of a sunny courtyard, complete with beautiful flowers. In autumn you are welcome to pick as many apples as you would like to take home with you. In winter, we welcome you to use our snug, complete with log burning stove (please note, we do also use this room on occasion but will vacate completely to give you absolute privacy during your stay).
We live in a Chilmark, an exceptionally beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have some of the clearest views of the stars in the whole of the UK (one of only 14 ‘Dark Sky Reserves’ worldwide). The house is situated on a very quiet street, offering you a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of life. The village itself has a super pub, the Black Dog and the well renowned ‘Beckford’ and ‘Compasses at Chickgrove’ are a short drive (or leisurely stroll with breathtaking views) away. Pythouse, with its garden kitchen is another fabulous spot for coffee, cake or dinner. You will be spoilt for eating choice. We are happy to provide you with suggested walking routes and other top tips to help make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Just ask. We are just a few minutes drive from the A303 so offer easy access from London and the West. The historic city of Salisbury is just a short drive away with its bustling market and world famous cathedral spire. Likewise, Shaftesbury (with its Saxon roots and famous Gold Hill) sits on our doorstep. Tisbury is 4 minutes drive away and offers a range of local amenities as well as a wine bar, delicatessen and two coffee shops. Tisbury also offers direct rail links to London Waterloo. We hope you love our home and local area as much as we do!
  • We had a great stay with Ali and Ed. They were both very friendly and provided us with good recommendations for places to eat / visit. The room was nice and comfortable and it was great having access to the snug aswell. Breakfast was tasty. We would definitely recommend.

    Christopher2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I can't pick what I loved the most - the stylish decor (love the paint colour), the incredibly comfortable bed, the rain shower, the total peace and quiet or the great hospitality in general (thanks for the lovely breakfast!) I would wholeheartedly recommend this place and indeed this corner of Wiltshire - Chilmark is a charming traditional village. Absolutely top marks.

    Elizabeth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here! perfect location for our stopover from London on route to Cornwall. the space is gorgeous, well decorated and had everything we needed. breakfast was perfect and the extra little lounge space and tv we used was an added bonus. We would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return soon!

    Sophie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this for my mother and step father rather than us staying but they got lost getting there and Ali and her husband went out of their way to find them, locate them and guide them in. They looked after them beautifully, had the fire on, made sure they were settled and generally took better care than I could ever have wished for two people in their late 80's. I am advised the room was beautiful, immaculately clean, the bed was comfy and wrapped them in a soft mattress and beautiful thick duvet. They were looked after very well, over and above expectations and very gratefully after them getting lost in the dark (their fault, not the host). Breakfast was delicious apparently and they will be back (if Ali will have them!)

    Alison2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very smart, well-presented and comfy rooms indeed. Very warm welcome from Ali and her family and very easy and prompt communications in the run up. Spankingly clean and very cosy on a cold, blustery night. Could not have been better looked after.

In beautiful countryside, this is a newly built cottage on the site of our old Tractor Shed close to our farmyard. Comfortable & cosy. Wander around our farm & garden. Excellent local pubs. Watch the stars. Fantastic place to chill. Organic farm and we sell our own grass fed Red Poll beef and eggs from our wandering chickens.
A modern rebuild of our old Tractor Shed on our organic farm, deep in the county of Wiltshire and near to Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath and the south coast. If you like the countryside, you will like it here! There's lots to do tourist wise in the area and fantastic walks nearby through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (official designation!). The accommodation is very comfortable with a 5 foot double bed, ensuite shower room, living room with kitchen area and outside terrace. It has underfloor central heating so is cosy throughout the winter. We have a herd of Red Poll cattle here and chickens roam freely in our fields, barns and woodland. If you like fishing, we have our own trout lake for your use at an extra charge of £30 per half day. If you are part of a bigger party than 2 people, we also have a 3 double bedroomed apartement and another 1 bedroomed one in our lovely garden. We also have bed and breakfast in our 17th century farmhouse. We are busy with the farm and animals but enjoy welcoming guests to this magical spot. If you want to eat out, there are several excellent pub restaurants within 5 miles and Shaftesbury with its many eating places and markets is just 6 miles away. Unfortunately, being right out in the countryside means you need your own transport though there is a main line from London train station at Tisbury 3 miles away.
Cools Farm is in the depths of the Wiltshire countryside. Lots of people pass down to the West Country on the A303 and miss out on this beautiful area. Yet, we are very accessible 4 miles south of A303 and 3 miles from mainline station at Tisbury. We love looking after our cattle and living in a lovely C17th stone farmhouse. We enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with interesting guests.
  • Comfortable stay, beautiful location - very happy here!

  • We had a lovely time staying at Cools Farm for a wedding. The bed was extremely comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped (we bought two steaks from the farm for dinner one evening) and Maggie was very helpful, lending us an iron when we needed one. I recommend paying extra for breakfast - it was delicious.

  • Pamela and Michael are wonderful persons who manage a wonderful house. I stayed there for just one day but I found every little thing perfect, every small detail at its place. The breakfast worth the visit by itself (also if I haven't try the English one, sorry Pamela). In 15 minutes you can reach on foot the center (from which you can take the bus for stonhenge) and the cathedral. Highly recommended

  • Pamela and Michael were beyond good hosts. As a single traveler their homey touches and kind words were exactly what I was missing after a month traveling. The room was impeccable and incredibly comfortable. Pamela was kind enough to make a full English breakfast in the morning which was delicious and as enjoyable as my conversations with both Michael and Pamela. They are more than super hosts! They went the extra mile and I highly recommend staying here!

Very comfortable place to stay, which was perfect to return to after a long day of hiking and enjoying nature. We loved being able to cook our meals in the evening and there was everything you’d need to do so. We also enjoyed watching movies at night. One of my favorite things, though, was the bed- so so SO comfortable! Lastly, Gillian was easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

  • I absolutely loved my time. The place was absolutely stunning, the view was amazing even on a rainy day and Gillian was wonderful. Cannot wait to stay again. Highly recommend

  • After a trip to Ireland was cancelled because of bad weather we had a quick search to see if we could find somewhere at the last minute to spend our free weekend. We had the best weekend. The property has incredible views with everything you need. We went with our 11 week old baby and Gillian had left us a changing mat and the whole place was toasty and warm due to the under floor heating. We went to Salisbury on the Saturday and then to the Compasses pub for dinner in the evening. Such a lovely stay and we will be back again for sure.

  • A wonderful space which we used for both relaxing and for working. The views are incredible. Definitely recommended.

  • An amazing, modern and comfortable place to stay. Lots of space for four adults and easy parking. Would be great to explore more on foot from the property but we had storm Dennis during our stay so enjoyed some cosy nights in with wine and good films. Enjoyed visiting Salisbury, not too far to drive.

  • Definitely worth going. Do it!

  • Please do not hesitate in booking into The Calf Shed for a relaxed getaway. I have recently lost use of my legs so all the space for wheelchair access was a dream. There were so many personal touches, so many thoughtful bits of tech from underfloor heating to all the Sky channels to sliding doors and remote blinds... although you won’t want to block out the stunning view. Thank you for being a wonderful host Gillie. We will be back. P&J

  • Absolutely lovely couple of days staying at Gillian’s lovely converted barn. Lovely views, even on a drizzly morning, house is very well furnished throughout with heated floors. We are very much looking forward to visiting again. Many thanks!

The room is an airy attic room with a comfy double bed and hanging space and a view over the village to the countryside. The bathroom is shared with the host.
The room is at the top of the house (2 flights up) with fairly steep stairs but good handrails. Please note that the bathroom/shower is one floor down. There is a good provision of essentials (including things you may have forgotten) and there are tea and coffee making facilities. A small selection of crockery/cutlery and glassware is also provided ....including a bottle opener/corkscrew. The table is a good size for either working or dining. There is also a small ironing board and iron, hairdryer, chargers and fan. The house is approximately 5mins from the High Street with a good selection of shops and eating places. This is a cat friendly house but they do not have access to the upper floors.
Tisbury is a wonderful village with plenty of shops and a prestigious gallery. In the summer months we have an open air pool which is a short walk away. It is well placed for exploring many historic sites and houses and only 17miles from Salisbury and 50mins from the nearest coastline.
  • A comfortable, cozy and attractive room. Everything from arrival to departure was easy and pleasant.

    Vivian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect for what I needed and location couldn’t have been better!

    Kerry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed 1 night. Good quiet place, very nice touch with little bits and pieces for whatever you might need; from hair dryer to paracetamol tablet ... convenient.

  • The attic room is very cozy and well organised. It has everything you need with even a board game, a music box to connect with your mobile and funny books. Tracy took care for some cute details like a poem of the day and cups for a warm drink-on-the-go. The room is silent, Tisbury is picturesque and quiet with enough places to eat and shop. Tracy was so attentive to check in advance which restaurants were open. We had a nice dinner at The Boot Inn. Shortly: we felt welcome and at home

  • Little Sweden is way more luxurious than the photos make out. It is like a classy boutique hotel with loads of great touches. Shelley is a great host, The location is great for walking, and there is a mix of gastro and proper pubs within walking distance.

    Elizabeth2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We met Shelley on our arrival and she welcomed us with a big smile. The room is sparkling clean, big and full of lovely touches such as the breakfast food and drinks. Extra points for the super comfy bed. The bathroom is big and also very clean, easy access with the walk in shower : precisely what we needed to wake up . Great place to stay, I recommend whole heartedly. Thank you Shelley!

The cottage that we believe was built in 1780. Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Plenty of local walks, to check out our stunning countryside. We are a 10 minute walk to the North Dorset Trailway. Unfortunately there is no pub in the village, we are a 15-20 minute walk to the nearest pub The White Horse in Stourpaine (highly recommend). Conveniently situated for Blandford Camp and the Royal signals museum, the Great Dorset Steam Fair and just a stones throw away from Bryanston School.
The room is on the ground floor, the cottage used to be the local village shop. Your room is where the shop front was situated. The room is very cosy with your own en-suite shower, toilet and basin. There is a little wardrobe. Window is rather low, we have provided a blackout blind and curtains. There is a fan fixed to the wall for the more muggy evenings.
We are a tiny village, set in the beautiful rolling Dorset countryside. We are a friendly bunch, especially if you have a pooch or 2. There are some amazing walks right on our doorstep and the North Dorset Trailway within walking/cycling distance. If you have a National Trust membership there is so much to do in the area, we especially like Corfe Castle, Stourhead and Kingston Lacy.
  • A delightful find. Everything you would want and exceptional value. A beautiful part of the country and extremely lovely helpful hosts.

    Carolyn2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely clean cosy room in a family home full of nice touches (plentiful toiletries, water by bed, phone chargers etc). Tea and coffee always available and a plentiful breakfast. The room and dining area situated on one 'side' of the house with own entrance so private with as little or much interaction with the hosts as you wanted. Treena and Aubrey (and Spud, the cool dog) were lovely and friendly, very helpful even offering us a lift to our local party venue. Thankyou

    Tony2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming room, and Treena and Aubrey were very welcoming and helpful with everything.

    Shona2019-12-26T00:00:00Z

    Emma2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is lovely very accommodating and fantastic hosts. Set in a beautiful location we’ll look forward to coming back fingers crossed the fields will be less flooded. Your help with gaining a table at the local pub / restaurant was greatly appreciate as the food was amazing. Max our pooch loves meeting spud and being able to gallop around your garden.
