Places to stay in Chipping
Our aim is to ensure you feel relaxed . If you have a hectic lifestyle and want to get away this is the place for you . We are in an extremely quiet location surrounded by beautiful countryside. The nut house is situated on a decked area at the bottom of a beautiful garden where you will find wood sculptures, many flowers, plants and wildlife. We are also situated 50 minutes to manchester and the lake district and 25 minutes to Blackpool
Guests have access to all parts of the garden. Guests can have use of the hot tub and the pool, timings can be arranged on check in to ensure complete privacy, we recommend that you bring flip flops or slippers as the hot tub is outside .
There is a local pub in the village, there are some very good cheap restaurants within close driving distance. Excellent spot for walking and cycling. There is a locked garage where bikes can be stored.
  • Fantastic place, great facilities, the hot tub was perfect and it was ready-made all the time so you could just get in and out whenever, and in the rain and cold it was great so you could use it in all weather. The hosts were very discrete and give you space which is appreciated and they made a lovely breakfast. There were a lot of nice finishing touches that you don't always see in Air BnB places which made it an extra special trip. Comfy bed!

  • Micheal and Barbara were great hosts! Was an amazing getaway from the busy city and we enjoyed the private use of hot tub and pool! Lots to do in the area and had a brilliant stay. Definitely coming back again and would recommend anyone to stay for a couple nights. 👌🏽

  • Michael & Barbara are great hosts. They introduced themselves on arrival and shown us around the place. They recommended some great places to go to aswell. I would highly recommend the Flower bowl, less then 10 min drive away. The lodge itself is very cosy and has a heated mattress and heater which made sure we were really warm during are stay. The garden is huge and the facilities such as the pool and hot tub was perfect and all private which was great - I took my gf for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. I couldn’t recommend the nut house enough. Thank you both for a perfect weekend. Adam & Lydia

  • Fantastic hospitality and beautiful setting. Cosy little hut in the countryside, perfect get away from the hussle and bussle of everyday life! Especially loved the swimming pool and cooked breakfast. Thank you!

  • which happens to be New Year’s Eve and had the most amazing time. Michael and Barbara were the kindest hosts. Breakfast was amazing and brought down to us at any time we wanted in the morning. Full use of the pool and hot tub facility whenever we liked. The house is in a beautifully quiet and scenic area and we could sit in the hot tub at night and watch the fireworks and look at the stars. The pool has a blue lighting at night which makes for a very romantic midnight swim. A 10 minute walk away takes you to a pub ‘The Green Man’ where we saw in the new year and had some fab food and fab customer service. Cannot recommend this place highly enough and we can’t wait to come back later in the year. Thank you Michael and Barbara!

  • I can't recommend the Nut House enough. The accommodation is simply stunning, set in beautiful peaceful gardens. Throw in the heated indoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub and it just makes it perfect for a relaxing break away from it all. Everything is spotlessly clean, breakfast is good and the fact the accommodation huts are a little bit different makes it even more appealing. On the top of all that Mike and Barbara's fantastic hospitality makes it a perfect place to stay in every way. But dont take my word for it, just try it, you won't regret it!!

Spacious private room in a large, well presented home in the semi rural town of Longridge, situated in the picturesque Ribble Valley, Lancashire. Five minutes from beautiful countryside, fells, forests and award winning country pubs. Please note: you'll be sharing the house with our very well behaved Jack Russell - so if you're allergic to pet hair or are dog-averse, this listing will not be suitable for you.
Your private room has original stained glass bay windows, a double bed, space to hang/store clothes, dressing chair, large mirror and bedside lights. Tea and coffee making facilities in room if you want a brew. On the ground floor you will have access to a private front room/parlour (if you'd like to use it) and shared access to a cosy lounge with wood burner and tv, fully equipped kitchen and large garden. On the first floor there's shared access to a reading nook, and a large shower room with waterfall shower. A basic breakfast of cereals, toast, tea/coffee is included.
About Longridge You'll be staying in the small town of Longridge - the high street is five minutes walk away and has some lovely independent shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and micro pubs - and some of the best fish and chips in Lancashire, as well as some cracking breakfasts and afternoon teas. There are three large parks in the town - and there's also an old fashioned independent cinema just up the hill (where you can get a brew in a proper china cup, and they play the national anthem before screenings). Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley We're just on the doorstep of the Ribble Valley and Trough of Bowland (rumoured to be where the Queen would wish to retire to). Lots of opportunities for walking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, golfing... or just sitting in a nice pub in front of their roaring fire - depends what you fancy. For foodies, there's lots of farm shops and local produce to track down - as well as award winning establishments like the Inn at Whitewell, the Parkers Arms, Freemasons at Wiswell, Northcote Manor, and Assheton Arms. Adventuring further afield If you're feeling more adventurous, or want to use Longridge as a base, we're very close to the cities of Preston and Lancaster, and about 45 minutes from Manchester and Liverpool. If you don't fancy seeing a city, you can be by the coast (Lytham, St Anne's, Blackpool, Fleetwood or Morecambe) within 25 minutes. And it's an hour to the South Lakes.
  • Helen’s home is very light and bright. Plenty of space in the bedroom and the bed is nice and comfy. There were tea and coffee making facilities to hand too. Her breakfast options were perfect - cereals and toast - everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Helen and her dog were both very friendly hosts! Thank you.

Well presented Victorian house, ideal for a family, Walkers or Cyclists. The house is on the edge of the Lancashire countryside. Two bedrooms and also a unique office in a converted attic, ideal for any business man or woman. Sky TV also now installed.
The house consists of small hallway with a vestibule door. The hallway leads you first to the lounge on the right hand side, you are welcome to use the open fire which is lovely on them dark, cold Winter nights. I have also recently installed Sky TV. Then at the end of the hallway you turn right into the classy dining room. The back of the dining room lets you enter into the kitchen, stone flag floor with stable door. There is a large fridge, Microwave and fully equipped kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen you will find the utility room with condensing dryer. At the top of the stairs you see the large unique Victorian bathroom with original Victorian large roll top bath, walk in shower. The bathroom is very large for this type of property (towels are provided in the drawers). The main bedroom is at the back of the house which is also decorated in a good style, plenty of hanging space for your clothes including cupboards to place your baggage. The front bedroom is really set up for three children, two Xbox Consoles and two LCD TV’s with a large sofa for the children to sit and play. There is also plenty of hanging space for clothes and cupboards to place your baggage. Up the attic steps you will find a nice office that is suitable for any business man or woman, you can connect your laptop to the independent Screen , Keyboard and Mouse.
The house is situated in the small town of Longridge, the high street is a very short walking distance from the property where you will find nice Cafe's for coffee, Breakfasts and afternoon Tea’s. There are quality supermarkets also in walking distance of the property. Sainsburys being the larger one, and Booths being a little smaller but more high class, Booths is located on the high street. There are a few nice pubs and numerous Micro pubs in the small town. The pubs that I recommend for a good pint and good food are the Alston Arms, and the Dog Inn which has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Another local pub that I recommend is just out of Longridge called the Corporation Arms, good traditional food on offer at reasonable prices with a nice selection of real ales. Two Micro Pubs that I recommend are Apple Jacks, and Tap and Vent. There are numerous nice small shops and food take away restaurants, Happy Valley Chinese restaurant is highly recommended which is also located on the high street, there is a menu on the peg board in the kitchen. The area is extremely close to the English country side where if you wish you can enjoy walking, Cycling, running, etc. There are plenty of local fisheries around the area so if you are a keen Fisherman or Woman it would be also ideal for you. My main recommendations for the area is The Inn at Whiewelll which is about a nine mile drive from my property. Stonyhurst College is also well worth a look if you are in the area. There is also also some small beautiful villages close by, Ribchester is nice with the River Ribble running past the village, it also has a quaint Museum because of its Roman history. Chipping is also a very nice village which is about a five mile drive, it is famous for a supposedly haunted pub called the Sun Inn, ask the locals if you visit to ask about the story or Google it. Beacon Fell nature park is also a favourite for the locals, this place is good all year round and has very high close together trees that are extremely pleasant to walk beneath. The Trough of Bowland is located 5 miles to the north of my house and is the heart of the Lancashire Countryside with many local hills that can be walked, Parlick, Fairsnape etc. Just Google them also.
  • Beautiful home with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Great communication, easy check in and spotlessly clean. Great location in the centre of the village. Superb host

  • Future visitors to Alden Cottage. Nothing can prepare you for the wonderful aspect and vivid panorama to be found at Alden Cottage. It is picturesque and invites you to pull on your walking boots and get exploring. For the romantics, a woodburner gets you back to basics, lighting the fire (easy peasy) and enjoying the flickering flames as you lounge on a comfy chesterfield and sip a favourite tipple. Your hosts are delightful, welcoming and available in an instant to give helpful tips on places of interest and local must sees. I am planning to revisit, I think you will do the same.

  • Laura and James’s place oozes character and is as charming as the hosts! We had such a warm welcome so we felt right at home 😊 The rooms are fabulously cosy and comfortable!! All with their own designs and features. After a fantastic nights sleep, we woke to a gorgeous view of the ribble valley and had tea, coffee and toast waiting for us downstairs! Laura was so helpful and friendly and we loved her conversation and advice on where we could walk. I could not recommend this house enough, if you want a relaxing space, beautiful surroundings and friendly hosts, this is the place for you!

    Lara2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place is beautiful. The rooms are stunningly decorated and the facilities great. Laura made us feel very welcome, a great host. We were a party of 3 and had 2 rooms, one en suite the other with use of a private bathroom. Both rooms were exquisitely decorated and had the comfiest beds ever. We were attending a wedding in Clitheroe, it’s about 20 mins in a taxi away. Laura offered a delicious continental breakfast and Nespresso coffee and we had use of the kitchen. The views from the kitchen are stunning and would be even better on a sunny summers day. I would not hesitate to recommend Laura’s place to anyone. Thank you Laura welcoming us into your home.

We are offering a Luxury glamping experience where you can relax and unwind. Set in the heart of the Ribble Valley and on the Tolkiens walk at Stonyhurst. You can cook on your very own fire pit and enjoy the panoramic view of Pendle Hill. Our Dandelion Hill Yurt has an exclusive Hot tub just for you. It also comes with a luxurious hut as your bathroom suite, with shower, flushing toilet and hot and cold water.
Dandelion Hill is set in a meadow next to our woodland beyond the farm. It is a 2 minute walk from the car park. Don't worry about carrying all your belongings as we are here to help if you need help. Once in the meadow you will feel as though you have escaped to a truley tranquil and peaceful location.
We are situated behind Stonyhurst College and you'll find that they open their doors to the public often. Well worth a visit and it's where some of the scenes from 3 men and a little lady was filmed. We are 2 miles from Hurst Green, which hosts 3 pubs- the Shireburn Arms, the village club and the Bailey arms. There is also Millies Cafe. Whalley is 5 miles away and is a very pretty village with lots of shops/cafes and pubs. Whalley Abbey is well worth a visit too. Clitheroe is 5 miles away and is a large town with Clitheroe Castle dominating the sky line. This is where you'll find supermakets. Pendle hill is well worth a climb and from here you'll be able to see the whole of the Ribble Valley.
  • Absolutely fantastic spot! Our children described their stay as the best holiday ever. Joanne was a fantastic host, nothing was to much trouble! Lots of little added extras such as scones and marshmallows on arrival, fresh milk each day and a offer to show us the milking parlour. Great amenities, comfy bed, well equipped yurt and very clean! We used the pizza oven over the camp fire and it was great! The highlight for us was sitting under the stars in the hot tub with a glass of bubbly! Definitely a trip to remember, I would highly recommend. Thank you Joanne for a fab stay! Xx

    Becca2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I wasn't sure about glamping as I had heard horror stories about the yurt ceilings being covered in webs and spiders. Yes obviously you're outside and there are going to be bugs, but Joanne's was lovely and clean, the bathroom was clean and cosy. It's a beautiful place and the views are unrivalled. Relaxing with nice touches and Joanne is lovely.

Loud Mythom Barn is close to Chipping Village and some very special wedding venues. It is an ideal safe haven during these uncertain times. It is surrounded by unspoilt farmland with stunning views over the Fells. The Barn has been sympathetically converted with lots of character features retained, it was built to be a family home with innovative ground source heating and generous sized rooms. The Barn is ideal for families or friends getting together, pets are welcome too!
The Barn was converted in 2008 to a very high standard. We tried to retain many character features and put in innovative ground source heating to make it really cosy even if the wood burning fire hasn’t been lit. It is very spacious with all the rooms being generously sized. Downstairs flows from one room to another making it ideal for larger groups of friends or family to enjoy quality time together without being on top of each other. Outside is a very generous space with some lawn area, lots of hard standing for vehicles. We have planning permission to put up a stable block and tennis court ( on my old riding arena ). We hope to do this is the near future.
Although Loud Mythom Barn is very rural we are not too far off the beaten track. Chipping Village is approximately 2.5 miles away. It has two great pubs a cafe and Farm Shop. The Sun Inn will do takeaway meals and Sue at the Farm Shop is very happy to deliver food hampers, she does sell wines and beers along with wonderful local produce. The old post office also sells all sorts. In the opposite direction we have the award winning Inn at Whitewell, my personal favourite place for a delicious bar snack or special meal. Nearer still we have the Gibbon Bridge Hotel with its stunning gardens and great afternoon teas. For our younger guests the Wild Boar Park is a great day out and is a short five minute drive away. There is a BBQ and lots of outdoor space. Many of our guest are happy to just stay at the Barn and enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of the countryside.
  • Stunning countryside location away from it all. Perfect for complete relaxation. The house is clean and tidy, a really good size and with everything you need. Billie is a great host with great communication. Can't recommend this place enough.

The cottage was stunning and so homely and comfortable to be in, the area is beautiful with amazing walks around and a yummy pub should you wish to eat out. Sally was brilliant and replied back super quickk when I asked questions and was honestly 10/10. I will absolutley be back here. Thanks so much for such a welcoming stay! It made my wedding weekend start off perfectly! 😍

  • This is a very outstanding house, which brings us unlimited surprises and nostalgia! Novel design, stove and functional kitchen make children happy! Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Lucy's parents, Sue and John, were very hospitable. In the evening of the arrival, they drove us to eat a very famous local restaurant. At the same time, the restaurant they operated, New drop inn, was right next to the house. One of them went to dinner after booking The food is outstanding! Highly recommend you who wish to have a relaxing holiday!

  • This property was absolutely perfect for our family Christmas stay and was decorated beautifully. There were 6 of us staying at the house (3 couples) and the space and facilities worked out brilliantly, for the number of us there; with a spacious kitchen / living room area and an en-suite bathroom in each bedroom. Upon arrival, we were greeted by John & Sue, owners of the house and the Newdrop Inn pub next door. They were extremely approachable, helpful and accommodating. We dined at the pub on our first evening on Xmas Eve. Just like the house, the pub was just as impressive with its friendly staff, fantastic service and lovely food and drink selection. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing break away, with its cosy log burner fire, stunning views across the Ribble Valley with lots of wonderful walking routes on the doorstep and the thoughtful, personal touches Whitecross House has to offer.

  • We'd recommend Mews Cottage for its location, character, comfort and facilities. Four of us had a great family get-together. The Christmas decorations were a lovely extra.

  • Yet another wonderful stay at the cottage, home from home! Thank you again, and we’ll certainly be back again when we visit the UK.

  • We had a great stay at Amanda's lovely cottage. The property is run very professionally, as there are staff working on site for the other accommodation they rent and the events they host. The cottage itself is done up to a very high standard but still has real charm. We were there without a car, which turned out not to be a problem at all - a cab from Clitheroe station was £12 and there is good hiking to be had straight from the front door.

  • A lovely cottage in a peaceful location. Ideal for walking and exploring this beautiful part of the country.

  • A really lovely place to stay in a great location! The cottage was perfect - very cosy and well-finished with everything we needed. Amanda was an excellent host and I'd definitely recommend staying here to enjoy the beautiful countryside!

  • Lovely friendly host, beautiful warm property close to many great walks. Just make sure you save the location in your phone before you get there as there is very little phone reception! Thank you again amanda, if im back up your way again would happily stay again

  • Outstanding! Beautiful cottage, retaining the original features, whilst installing modern comforts to the internal decor . Attention to detail across the whole cottage, with all the homely touches to make your stay home from home. Quirky features, skylights and exposed brick. Sparkling clean everywhere! The open log fire (odourless) was divine over the festive break. Plenty of wood/coal available for you to top up during your stay. The central heating is fantastic and hot water always. Large walk in shower and plenty of linen, towels available. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, I cooked a full Christmas dinner for 5 adults and still had plenty of crockery, glass ware etc to spare! Washing machine/dryer and dishwasher. Outside there is a large garden to the back of the cottage with a paved area for entertaining too. We didn't manage to check out Browsholme Hall this time due to the time of year, but the grounds are worth a look and we will certainly revisit the Hall when we return. Some beautiful routes directly from the front door for walking, cycling or running. I went out running on a couple of occasions on the roads, all safe and stunning area to get out and about. We stayed over the Christmas break, and arrived on Christmas eve not only to a warm welcome from Amanda, fresh milk from the farm and a nice bottle of sparkling, but to a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the living room with pretend presents under the tree and a fully set up dinner table for Christmas day! This obviously is a particular time of year, so therefore I just asked prior to the trip about the size of the table to seat 5 for dinner. Arrived to everything set up as though we were at a restaurant. Those special touches that make a difference!! Priceless. Amanda was always available if we ever needed anything. We hired a car, and parked directly in-front of the cottage, with some family visiting on Christmas day also able to park in front of the cottage for easy access. Clitheroe is the nearest town where you can get everything from the large supermarkets - Sainsbury, Teso, Booths etc to a market town full of quaint little shops, cafe's, restaurants, traditional pubs, gift stores, designer clothes stores, and Clitheroe Castle. We will be staying here when we return to the UK, and once again a big thanks to Amanda and her team. I would highly recommend!

  • Really good place for people with teenagers who love the outdoors - excellent mountain biking as Gisburn and quad biking near Skipton, both within 30 min drive. We were mostly fortunate with the weather but did take an Xbox just in case (our boys did enjoy the luxury of having it their bedroom for once, giving us full use of very comfy sofas). Beds very comfortable too. Everything in kitchen worked well but there are lots of superb pubs in the area too.

  • We have had a wonderful time in Hilary’s house - we didn’t want to leave! It is a beautiful location with amazing views. Lovely big garden for the dog to run around in. The donkeys are adorable and so curious and friendly! Hilary provided everything we needed, including a very full pantry (no need to bring your condiments etc!) and lots of eggs from the hens amongst other kind items left for us. Bedrooms are all very comfortable and plenty of space throughout the whole house for us to socialise all together. Impeccably clean. We really couldn’t have asked for a better setting for our weekend away.

    Carrie2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • If your considering staying at Hilary’s then stop ‘considering’ and get it booked NOW! Hilary’s home is beautiful, the gardens are breathtaking and the relaxation opportunity are infinite. I cannot praise our stay at Hilary’s enough...even the stables were freshly painted for our horse!! If you get an opportunity, make sure you take up the offer of Hilary cooking for you, she is an awesome cook!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for trusting us with your beautiful home...❤️❤️❤️

  • Hilary’s house was lovely and definitely felt like a home from home. Great facilities and such a nice space. I would recommend this place, it’s not far from the small town of Ribchester but far enough to feel away from it all. Fresh hens eggs were amazing. Ribble valley is a nice area, plenty of walks and good pubs :) Hilary was a great host, easy to contact and really helpful. Thanks!

  • Hilary is an amazing host. We were made to feel very welcome and she suggested lots of lovely things for us to do while we were there. Her home is beautiful and the views are amazing. We would definitely revisit, thank you Hilary!!

  • Hillary's place exceeded our expectations by a huge amount. The pictures don't do this place justice. Loads of room and views were amazing. Hilary was the perfect host and there were lots of thoughtful touches, such as getting us some supplies in and chocolate eggs for my little boy, that really made us feel welcome.

    Jane2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary's home is idyllic. Her kitchen is out of this world! The house is so comfortable and we all slept like logs. The garden is amazing and our dog loved it, I think he was probably sad to leave! We are hoping to return, especially given how delicious the hen's eggs are! We cannot recommend Hilary's home enough.

  • We stayed here for one evening when we attended a wedding near by. From the minute we arrived Fran and her husband were so welcoming and helpful, going the extra mile to ensure that we were comfortable and got to the venue on time! The space itself was perfect, cozy and well designed but still had an element of basic that we were hoping for, waking up to the birds singing and views of the fields was idealic. I have recommended this place to so many people and would love to return soon.

  • We have just stayed here in one of the Yurts for our anniversary as we got married at Eaves Hall 2 years ago. We took our just gone 1 year old & Fran set up the room with a travel cot for when we arrived. Check in was smooth the yurt was set up lovely with heating on & fairy lights. Toilet & shower early to use as long as you follow the instructions. We also dined in the restaurant which I can honestly say the best meal that we have had, the. Later that night we had got chocolate & marshmallows sent to our yurt which we had sat outside on our little bench looking out to the countryside, breakfast next day was lovely too! Overall such a lovely place & amazing for the price! We will definitely be going again! Thank you for a lovely night away!

  • Our family reunion at Deer Barn over the Christmas period was absolutely perfect. The setting was peaceful with plenty of space to enjoy cosy fires, family board games and lots of good food. Our dog loved the walks through the nearby countryside, as did we. Megan and Scarlett were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend their beautiful place very highly.

  • This is an amazing place. The barn is warm comfortable and stylish. It has great amenities. There are stunning views from all the windows and garden. The garden is enclosed and perfect for children and a dog. The location is perfect for exploring the countryside. If you like long country walks this is for you. The tips for country pubs were brilliant- we ate at the Derby Arms , Assheton Arms and Shireburn Arms. We liked Clitheroe for a girl wander and had a glass of wine at Holmes Mill. We had never visited Lancashire before - we will be back. Thank you Megan and Scarlett for letting us stay in their beautiful barn.

  • This is a beautiful property set on a small hill behind Stonyhurst School. From Deer Barn you can walk into the local village Hurst Green, which has two excellent pubs! Deer Barn is a large spacious property, with a safe enclosed garden, which has amazing views across the Ribble Valley. The house is beautifully furnished, and you can tell it has been relatively recently refurbished. Overall we had a wonderful stay at the property, and would recommend it.

  • We knew we’d be in for a treat but this accommodation exceeded expectations. So beautiful and the surrounding views are to die for! I stayed here with my family and we really felt like we were at home, it was exactly what we wanted from our holiday - cosy, peaceful and relaxing. Even with 8 people it felt so spacious and we could be in different parts of the house without disturbing each other. Waking up to see the cows and sheep next to the garden were a highlight for us, they made the best neighbours! We tried out the Aspinall Arms pub and Shireburn Arms pub... both outstanding food and highly recommended. Thank you so much for our stay here, we had an incredible time and loved the location.

  • Beautiful accommodation in a great location. Great garden for our four legged family members and house is very spacious with everything you need. Would stay again

  • Lovely modern barn conversion with an amazing view and great surrounding countryside with country walks. The house is well equipped and comfortable, you feel like you're staying in a family home rather than a rental. The town of Clitheroe is just a few minutes drive away and has everything you might need. Particularly recommend checking out the Bowland Brewery Beer Hall, food hall and ice cream parlour.
