Places to stay in Clitheroe
Nestled in the heart of the Forest of Bowland AONB, this glamping pod is ideal for hikers and bikers who want a base more substantial than a tent and less fuss than a hotel. Want privacy with absolutely nobody else around? We can almost guarantee you won't see a single person while you're at the pod, so you can sit back and enjoy the stunning panoramic views that stretch for miles over the Dunsop and Ribble Valleys from the hot tub, champagne in hand, with nobody to disturb you.
The Shepherd’s rest is set in its own valley with panoramic views. It’s location makes it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Anyone who stays at the pod will have great access to walks, cycling and adventure. Gisburn forest mountain bike trails is a 15 minute drive, there a plenty of walks to do in the area and some great places to eat out. The pod is made out of a solid wood frame and boasts three sides of glass to fully take in the panoramic views. The pod is split in half, with one side providing a comfortable and relaxing living area. There is a log burner, sofa bed and kitchen unit in this side of the pod. The other side of the pod is the bedroom and bathroom, complete with double bed, toilet, sink and shower. The hot tub is located on decking outside the pod, and backs onto an old barn in the field. The hot tub is log fired and filled with natural spring water. It is a beautiful experience to sit in the hot tub as sunset falls over the valley.

Set on the gable end of the original farmhouse, the cosy cottage features an open plan kitchen/sitting room, log burning stove, delightful views, exposed stonework, loft bedroom, en-suite shower room. Outside, a lovely sitting area, extended gardens & beautiful babbling brook. Gisburn's mountain bike trails are just 15 minutes away, while a number of first-class dining inns can be found within a few miles. A delightful holiday home, perfect for a romantic break whatever the time of year.
‘Saetr’ is derived from a Nordic word for a ‘summer barn in the hills’ – where the young girls would go to sleep in the summer and care for the sheep and young cattle in uplands. Often followed by their boyfriends in hot pursuit with romance in mind!
Plenty of local walks (suggestions in the cottage), pretty villages, indie shopping in Clitheroe & Skipton, country pubs serving great food and beautiful scenery. Or just relax, read or watch a movie in front of the log burning stove.
  • Very cosy cute place. High spec lovely decor - just so you know no bathroom or bedroom door as it was open plan upstairs and down. Beautiful location at the end of a lane so very quiet and peaceful. The garden was beautiful and all enclosed so our dog Mabel also loved the spot. Great country pubs ten min drive away. Would very much recommend.

  • We had a lovely time at Saetr Garden Cottage! Place was sparkling clean, cosy (especially with the indoor fireplace), well decorated, and stocked with all the amenities you may require for your stay. Samantha was very helpful, leaving lights on for us as we arrived late in the evening. Great base for exploring the Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales!

My place is in West Bradford, a mile and a half from Clitheroe, with great views and countryside walks. Although there are no shops or pubs in the village itself, a fantastic restaurant is just a minute's walk away. You’ll love my cosy, compact cottage dating from the 1730's with an original beam. It is located in beautiful gardens bordering a babbling brook. A private patio overlooks the brook towards fields. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS During the current time we are taking even greater care over cleaning the cottage. All surfaces are being wiped down with anti-bacterial and anti-virus cleaner. An anti-bacteria and anti-virus agent is being added when bedding and towels are laundered. If guests would prefer to bring their own bedding and towels they are welcome to do this. Weavers' Cottage is small but beautifully formed and oozing with character. The stone built cottage is located opposite our house and has been operating as a self-catering holiday cottage for the past twelve years. The studio accommodation has everything you need: double bed, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, two easy chairs, breakfast bar, separate shower and toilet, full central heating, TV with DVD player.
West Bradford is a relatively small village community one and a half miles from Clitheroe. It is a rural community with a number of farms and acres of farmland with excellent walks within yards of the cottage. The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists. The village does not have any shops but the nearby town of Clitheroe, has a very good range of shops and supermarkets. Whilst there are limited amenities within the village The 3 Millstones restaurant is less than a hundred yards from the cottage. It is open Wednesday to Sunday and offers excellent food at very reasonable prices: there is an early diner menu Wednesday to Friday 6.00 to 7.00 pm with two courses for approximately £13. There are always two guest ales on tap and there is a very good wine list. The food is consistently excellent, we eat there at least once a month and have never been disappointed. One mile down the road is Waddington, a very picturesque village with three popular and well regarded pubs and The Country Kitchen which provides a hearty breakfast at reasonable cost. Both The Waddington Arms and The Lower Buck are dog friendly.
  • Absolutely stunning place to stay with the stream bubbling behind the cottage and friendly ducks wandering around the garden 🦆. Inside was toasty warm and had everything we needed (including good tea bags). Loved it!

  • Andrew's cottage is just lovely and we had a great time there (despite the weather). We and our dog were made very welcome. The area is beautiful and gave us a chance to escape the city. We highly recommend this place and would always visit again.

  • We had two fabulous nights and days in this little gem of a place. Cosy and warm, with everything we needed for our stay. Nice long walks, good food nearby oh and not forgetting the lovely, hot shower! Thank you Andrew and Sue for being such friendly hosts, we’ll be back xx

  • Please do not be put off by the size of this property, it has everything you need and more. We stayed with two large Golden Retrievers and found there to be ample room for us all.

  • Lovely cottage, cosy, comfortable and clean. Well located for the surrounding countryside.

  • Cosy little cottage. We needed accommodation for a wedding at nearby Eaves Hall, this place was perfect for us. Andrew and Susan were friendly and greeted us at check in. Its in a very old building but inside it was modern and heating was good enough even in December. They also have facilities for self catering which made it felt more homely.

  • Great venue, wonderful host and fantastic location. Only small issue was the downstairs shower which needs repair. We all had to use the one shower upstairs. Host is aware of this and will be fixing it. He came promptly to check it when I contacted him. Absolutely 100% would recommend this as somewhere to stay! It’s was FABULOUS!!!

  • Our stay was excellent, and was ideal as a family getaway. We were really impressed with the accommodation which was completed to a particularly high standard, clean and spacious. The sauna and hot tub were an added bonus to the enjoyment of our stay. The owner was attentive and available. We would certainly like to revisit the property in the near future and is highly recommended.

We are pleased to add to our portfolio Pinfold Cottage, a pretty detached stone cottage in rural Tosside, BD23 4SQ (Please see on the map direction for “The Old Post House” which is next door as Pinfold doesn’t show on google maps) When you arrive at Tosside (it is only very small) you will arrive at a crossroads, at the crossroads there is a community centre, the Old Vicarage Tearooms, the pub which is now a house and the Old Post House (detached house) and Pinfold Cottage (see sign).
Pinfold used to be the village post office and has had considerable renovation work to make it into the georgeous little detached cottage in the centre of this little rural village. We have recently added this delightful little gem to our quirky trio of cottages in the Yorkshire Dales and aim to give it more of a “cabin” theme. Pinfold is a small two bed detached stone built cottage with garden/patio, in the heart of the village of Tosside in the Yorkshire Dales - South just six miles from Settle. Split over three levels with it’s individual quirky style, Pinfold Cottage has been transformed from former farm buildings to the local village post office and now to provide a compact but well thought out unique detached stone cottage. Nestled on the border of North Yorkshire and Lancashire, Pinfold is a perfect retreat for couples or small families wishing to get away from it all and simply relax. Pinfold features two charming double bedrooms with lovely views of the village. There is a modern shower room on the ground floor, off the kitchen with chrome towel rail, shower with glass screen, sink with large mirror and low flush toilet. Into the kitchen from the main door which boasts attractive bespoke features and a stone flag floor. Two steps down into the spacious lounge with cosy wood burning stove, a leather sofa and chair to sink into by the fire with a tipple if your choice! There is also a small dining area where you can sit and discuss the day’s adventures with dinner or play board games with the kids or simply sit with a coffee and a magazine! An open plan staircase leading up to the carpeted bedroom’s with fixed double beds on a king size platform. (Guests always compliment how comfortable our beds are 💤) Outside is a private patio/garden where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine (or two) on a warm summer evening. BBQ sizzling away. The surrounding area is wonderful for walking and cycling with lovely footpaths leading right from the door of Pinfold Cottage. Gisburn Forest Mountain Bike Trails are close by, where cyclists of all abilities can enjoy a fabulous day out! Lying between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland which is a designated Area of Natural Beauty is one not to be missed! Pinfold amenities include: Electric central heating and a wood burning stove. (Please bring along logs for the fire if required and clean fire on departure - thank you). Small Baby Belling Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, TV with numerous channels, DVD, CD/radio, WiFi, selection of books and DVDs. Electric heating included in rent. PLEASE TURN THE HEATER’S AND TOWEL RAIL DOWN ON DEPARTURE - thank you. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent (apart from the sofa bed for extra guests - please bring along your bed linen/sleeping bag/pillows. Hairdryer, loo roll, hand soap, fairy liquid, tea, coffee, sugar, all the basics. (Please bring along your own toiletries). Free roadside parking opposite the cottage. Two village car parks within 30 yards. Private Patio/garden to the front and back of the cottage. Sorry strictly no smoking inside the cottage or grounds. Sorry no pets allowed (on previous google sites it did advertise pets but we have a strict no pets policy). Shop 4 miles, licensed bistro 100 yards. The Pipers pub within the Bowland Fell Caravan Site 1.5 miles (4 mins by car). Community centre (directly opposite (licensed). Note: The beds are fixed on wooden plynth, five foot wide on individual mattresses and accessed by a two step stool - no different from a normal double only a little higher and are very cosy and comfortable). Settle 6 miles Clitheroe 12 miles Skipton town centre 15 miles Tosside is a small, attractive Yorkshire Dales village set between the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, six miles from Settle and fifteen miles from Skipton, popularly known as the Gateway to the Dales. Historically part of Yorkshire, following boundary changes in the 70’s, the village now straddles two counties, with the Eastern part of the village in Yorkshire, and the Western part in Lancashire! To the North, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales, while the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley, which in turn, sweep upward to the beautiful wilderness of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, a historic 3 storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, or for a great day out, travel on the renouned Settle-Carlisle railway line which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Venture into Clitheroe, a busy market town full of lively bars and restaurants, friendly pubs, and a castle!
Pinfold Cottage is right by Gisburn Forest with many bike routes. You are very welcome to bring your bikes along!
  • A lovely cosy, quirky cottage with comfortable beds and a great wood burner for winter evenings. Old Vicarage Bistro was also quite quirky but great value food and good service within very close walking distance. Very clean and everything we needed provided

  • A lovely cottage in a very small peaceful village. A wonderful place for accessing the Forest of Bowland or the North Yorkshire Dales. Myself & my wife visited Settle & Malham both well worth a trip. If its a relaxing getaway your after look no further. Sarah was a great host very helpful via the phone on arrival. Just pack a few things & go you will love it.

    Stephen2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely little cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over the Christmas period; Sarah had even added some nice Christmas touches. A cosy place to stay in but also walking distance to Gisburn forest. Wood was also left for the log burner which we used well, but if you are staying longer than a couple of days it might be advised to bring extra. Thanks for a great stay!

    Jess2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage with everything you need! Beds comfortable and lovely to relax in and look at all the lovely touches. Spotless and clean . We will definitely come back again and spend longer next time. Thank you Sarah for responding and communicating well!!

  • We arrived in the dark but lights were left on for us and on opening up we were greeted by a cosy quirky warm reception. The radio had been left on low so as you entered the kitchen it was almost like stepping back in time. We lit the fire straight away and settled in with a cup of tea. My two children loved it. There were plenty of toys which my little girl was very happy to find. The bathroom was spotless with plenty of hot water and a nice towel rail to dry our towels on. We had freeview, Wi-fi and plenty of wood for the fire. We didn’t cook in the cottage and instead opted to have breakfast at The Old Vicarage Tearoom which was a 1min walk from the cottage. The food was great quality and good value. Overall if your looking for a cosy quirky cottage where you can have 1 foot in Lancashire and another in Yorkshire close to places like Settle, Skipton and Clitheroe then Pinfold Cottage is for you.

    Rob2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most magical weekend! The cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the location is beautiful and rural, however still close to pub and shop. Loved the log burner, the cottage has all you need. Our 1yr son loved the toys, travel cot and high chair were a god send. Would highly recommend and will be returning xxxxx

  • Lovely little cottage. Really interestingly converted building. Kitchen is very quirky, basic but usable.

    Catherine2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem of a place! We loved it that much we stayed another night. The cute cottage had everything we could possible need for a break away. Set in its own garden with outside table and chairs we were able to enjoy the fresh air and listen to the nearby sheep in the field at the rear of the property. The views were fantastic and come evening we had tiny bats flitting by and a sunset to gaze at! Bliss! The cottage really quaint and had real personality compared to the generic Premier Inns etc we tend to go to! The main bedroom was lovely and the bed very comfy. Our daughters had the other room. We felt right at home there, made some delicious meals with the Baby Belling cooker and went on a few bike rides. The area was beautiful and the nearby Gisburn forest was a great place to ride our bikes! The local pub/bistro was very popular with walkers and cyclists and we had a drink there in their garden. It was next to a very interesting church dating back to 1694. Booths was about a 15 minute drive away so we made sure to stock up before we arrived as there were no local shops. Sarahs cottage was only half an hour away from wonderful Skipton and Malham with its magical beauty spot - Janet’s Foss! Enchanting indeed on a sunny day! We didn’t get to Settle but went to Waddington for a delicious lunch at the Higher Buck which we would recommend! Sarah was a Super Host indeed and was available to talk to by mobile or text. We recommend her darling cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all, drink in the outstanding beauty of the area around the Forest of Bowland and catch your breath! Wonderful!

A light and airy apartment in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Waddington can honestly be described as one of the most beautiful and scenic villages, with a host of local amenities. Our apartment is peacefully tucked away from the main road . Waddington village is home to 3 outstanding pubs, each with their own character and always on hand to offer refreshment after enjoying the incredible walking or cycling that is on the doorstop.
When you arrive, you will find the cupboards are not bare! There will be some basic supplies to make sure that you can make yourself a cuppa, and start your break immediately. I have put together some information on the local area to help you find your way, and enjoy everything as quickly as possible. No wasting time heading in the wrong direction.
Along with the fantastic pubs in the village, you will also find Tolkiens Trail, the market town of Clitheroe, Pendle Hill, Gisburn Forest and the Inn at Whitewell, all within a short distance.

  • This flat is a perfect base and really easy to find in Waddington. Clare is a great host - check in was simple and just as described and Clare responds straight if you have any questions! All of Waddington’s pubs are a short walk away from the flat too - perfect location for food and drink. The flat was just as I had hoped and exactly like the pictures. It had all the basic amenities that you need for a short stay- easy! Thank you Clare - would definitely stay again!

  • Stayed at Clare's for 3 weeks whilst working in the area. The place is clean, quiet and was perfect for my needs. Overall a very nice stay. Pls note that there is no wi-fi or microwave however.

  • I booked Clare's place for my parents to stay over Christmas. They loved the location and said the cottage was lovely and clean with everything they needed for their stay. Thanks Clare!

  • Really impressed with this flat for a weekend stay in Ribble Valley. Easy to find, clear instructions for getting into the building and once inside the flat, it had everything I needed for a short break. There was even fresh milk in the fridge ready for a brew. It was lovely and clean, private parking off road and very quiet!! A lovely, warm building too -no fear of being cold at night, even in winter.

Ideal for those looking for a cosy retreat in a peaceful location. **Pet friendly** Caldertop Cottage is located on a working livestock farm on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Staying here offers you unrestricted views of the Lancashire Fells, the Lake District and the Fylde Coastline. On a clear day, you can even see Blackpool Tower in the distance! —Access is via an unmade road—
Attached to a traditional stone farmhouse, the cottage was originally built as an agricultural workers dwelling. Now finished to cosy standard, it offers a great place to stay within tranquil surroundings. On entry into the property, you will arrive into the utility room which is where you can leave your muddy boots after a long walk. The well equipped kitchen/dining area leads nicely into the cosy lounge. Here, you can relax on the three piece suite facing a lovely stone fireplace and open fire. There is also a smart TV, making it a great place to unwind with family/friends after a full day out exploring the many local attractions. Upstairs, you will find three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The property offers two double bedrooms and one single bedroom. The second bedroom can be made in to a twin room at your request. You are welcome to bring your own travel cot if you are visiting with young children. The property boasts a large front lawn area. A beautiful spot to relax in on those hot summer days. To the rear of the property, there are numerous barns housing a variety of livestock. You can say hello to our highland cows and in the spring time, you will be able to see new born lambs! Whilst the property is set in a private location and accessed via an un-made road, Caldertop Cottage is just 6.5 miles away from the world's first Fair-trade town, Garstang. Here, you can find historical buildings and many independent shops, restaurants and cafes. We are lucky enough to be located just minutes away from the famous bluebell woods. The bluebell walk passes straight through our farm yard, making it the perfect property for those guests who love to walk and cycle. Cobble Hey Farm and Gardens is also just a short walk away from the property. Here, you can expect to find a cafe and gardens, a perfect place to rest your feet and grab a bite to eat. Whilst there is plenty to keep you busy locally, the property is a great base for those guests wanting to visit Blackpool, Lancaster and Lytham St. Annes. You could even travel to the Lake District or Cumbria for a day out. Caldertop Cottage is the perfect property for families, couples or friends looking for a tranquil retreat in the heart of British countryside.
  • We enjoyed our stay at this farm cottage! Our kiddos loved seeing the animals and the countryside is beautiful. The house has plenty of space, a large kitchen, and the beds were very comfortable.

  • Great traditional farmhouse in peaceful location. Cosy and spotlessly clean with lovely touches from the host, wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

  • An amazing stay, would recommend to anyone!

    Charlie2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great, very spacious, light and very well equipped, even nicer than in the photos. We had a great stay in spite of the weather! Our daughter loved the horses, pony, alpacas and newborn calves too!

    Lucia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very lovely place to spend a few quiet days. A lovely walk on the doorstep and close to some great facilities. We had a really relaxing time and everything is exactly as the other reviews have said. The track to the farm is a bit bumpy but fine if you take it slowly. Garstang has lots of local amenities and the countryside is beautiful. The cottage is extremely comfortable and there's lots of space for everyone and loads of TV options with Prime, Netflix etc for the kids on stormy days. It seemed to be much bigger than the pictures suggest and there is absolutely everything that you need there for a lovely stay. We all felt quite refreshed after a nice, long weekend. We would definitely recommend this cottage and think it's a bit of a bargain break.

    Gav2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our night at Caldertop Cottage! It was cosy, clean and comfortable. Beautiful views across the fields. Emma is a fantastic host and we were most grateful for the thoughtful touches such as the delicious home baked scones when we arrived after a long drive. Kids loved seeing the cows in the farmyard. This time was just a stopover but we’d love to go back for a longer stay some day.

    Sarah2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a little night away for my daughters birthday. Me my mum my daughter and her friend. Oh and my dog. Was in a lovely quiet location. On arrival there was delicious homemade scones awaiting us. Was nice and peaceful to be able to just relax and have a pamper night in front of the log fire. Will definitely visit again and depend longer.xx

Spacious, very comfortable double room in large, elegant Edwardian family home in Lune Valley village. Couples and sole travellers welcome. We can also open up an extra bedroom ( additional charge, please message me) with a double bed and airbed(s) to accommodate another single/couple or upto 3 older children in the same party. This room is not let separately. 3 Pubs serving food within half a mile. Simple breakfast provided (cereal, toast, fruit). Also home to a friendly dog and cats.
We are fortunate to live in the original “ Doctors’ house” for the village. An elegant double fronted Edwardian villa house, with a meandering garden. The house has many beautiful original features including very interesting stained glass depicting the seasons with seasonal fruits and flowers. The vestibule and hall still have the original floor tiling. There are two large original fireplaces in the living rooms and all the main living spaces still have the original coving, window frames, skirting boards etc. The garden is my joy, although I don’t have the time to always keep it at its best. We keep rescued caged hens as pets and have two vegetable plots and a greenhouse which keep us busy and provide plenty of fresh organic produce and of course we get lovely fresh eggs every day.
  • I stayed for 4 nights at Annie and Matthew's beautiful house. The room is lovely, very warm, spacious, comfortable and excellent wifi. Annie could not have been more welcoming and friendly. I felt very at home. The village of Caton has everything you might need, 2 pubs serving food within walking distance, and a village coop store. Caton is well positioned to enable easy access to all the local attractions, the Trough of Bowland, Pendle Hill and slightly further afield, the Yorkshire Dales. I cannot think of a single negative aspect of my stay at Annie's, hence the 5* review. Thanks a lot, Annie, hopefully see you again.

  • Annie’s place was a perfect stopover on the way to Scotland. We loved the spacious room and the hospitality was exceptional. Lotte the staffie was super friendly too. Breakfast was great, lovely home made bread. The Station hotel is a short walk away and had a really good menu. We would definitely come back.

    Eileen2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Annie was a wonderful host! Nothing was too much trouble for her. We were made to feel so welcome. She has a gift towards those with learning disability too and may have encouraged my son to take up music! My son and I both felt very comfortable with Annie and the dogs and cats, although they are not normally allowed in the guest area. The house too was very interesting. It was all I could do not to be more nosy. The guest rooms and bathrooms have been decorated with great flair and taste. A five star hotel in Knightsbridge wouldn't have been nicer.. I dont want to say any more as I'm afraid it will be full when I want to come back!!

  • We arrived at the Lower Buck Inn on a sunny afternoon and the pub already had a great atmosphere, we were checked into our little lodge quickly. The lodge itself is wonderfully designed and very comfortable, all amenities have been provided for including a fan and a heater! My wife was very impressed with the shower in particular, we had spent two weeks staying at over 8 different hotels and BnBs and this was by far the best bathroom! Oliver was very kind and spoke to the chef and managed to rustle up two vegan mushroom risottos which were delicious! I would recommend this pub to anyone who is in the area! and if your lucky enough to stay there you'll have a great night!

    Archie2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place. The pub serves excellent pies and has good beer on tap!

    Daniel2019-05-12T00:00:00Z

  • Oliver is a fantastic host. The lodge is beautiful with private parking. The adjoining pub is fantastic, cosy and welcoming. For gin lovers like myself there is a wide selection. Breakfast is a short walk across the village and is delicious.

  • Patricia is such a fabulous host and her hospitality and warmth to her guests is impeccable! She greeted us with a warm welcome and recommended places where we could eat and walk. Patricia added special touches to the bedroom, including: teas, coffees, shortbread and rocky road! In the morning, Patricia made us such a superb breakfast, both cold and hot foods, with an offering of fresh fruit, croissants, yoghurt, fresh coffee and a full English Breakfast (and that’s just for starters!). I highly recommend staying at Patricia’s lovely cottage. Such a fabulous home in a fabulous village, with an even fabulous host!

Nestling amid fantastic scenery, this is a great cosy relaxing base for spectacular walks, biking, for access to the Yorkshire Dales (20mins by car), or trips out to the many nearby amenities, eateries and country pubs; or for just getting away to somewhere lovely to relax!
Laythams is blessed by being in a Dark Sky area, perfect for stargazing on a cloudless night. The setting, by day and night, is one of glorious scenery, as well as access to a variety of exciting activities (e.g. mountain or road biking, fishing, walking).
On the doorstep, a wide variety of superb local eateries and pubs in charming villages, the nearest in our village of Slaidburn within 20mins walk (1.5miles), including the Riverside cafe, the Village Store, and the Slaidburn chocolate shop. Tesco & Sainsbury's in Clitheroe (15mins by car) will deliver groceries ordered online, but my favourite supermarket is Booths. Cow Ark, near Clitheroe, England, United Kingdom

My cottage is in a beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are wonderful walks/cycling routes right from the front door. We are spoilt for choice as there are many fantastic pubs and restaurants close by. The market town of Clitheroe is only a couple of miles away with great bars, a variety of food options and of course, a castle. My place is suitable for couples, families, solo adventurers and business travellers.
My cottage is very cosy in Winter with a gas wood burning stove. Equally there is a lovely patio garden which guests are welcome to use in Summer time.
We live in an idyllic village environment in a residential area. My cottage is therefore not suitable for people who want to party all night. Respect for my neighbours is paramount and lack of it by my guests will not be tolerated.
  • Gill's place is a sweet escape to cosy cortege nestled in the countryside. The living room is comfortable, warm and cosy, and the kitchen has a decór that Cath Kidston would be proud of. The location is literally 10 steps to a Spar and Post office, and minutes to Clitheroe and other beautiful places. To top it all off, the shower is hot and strong after a day out walking!!

    Adam2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a great part of the world. Gill is a great host. Will definitely stay again.

    Thomas2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic weekend at Gill’s! Arrived on Friday to a warm and cosy cottage in a quiet village - really easy to find! Was blown away by the attention to detail, the place has such character with a lovely modern twist. The whole house was spotless and we were happy to find some essentials for breakfast waiting in the kitchen for us! Beds were super comfy, excellent shower (could do with a lock on the bathroom door though!/couldn’t figure it out if it did), and basically we all had a fantastic weekend - only a 5-10 minute drive from the wedding venue that we were at on the Saturday night. Definitely recommend the pork pies and bacon from the butchers (less than a minute walk away)! Thank you so much Gill for your hospitality - highly recommend!

    Ella2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

The Barn is on a working farm surrounded by rolling fells of the stunning countryside known as The Trough of Bowland, the barn is ideally used as a glamping barn for families, cyclists and walkers. There is a wood burning stove to keep you warm and cosy. It has 4 bedrooms with bunk beds ( bedding and duvets not provided) hot showers and toilet bathroom . There are woodland walks and rivers, campfire area and you can hire our crafting room that has pottery, wool weaving or wood craft.
Our barn has been hand built with love and care, upcycling and reusing vintage farm pieces to give the space a cosy and quaint feel. We have amazing country views that look over the fields towards the North Sea, and behind the farm, the rolling fells of the Trough of Bowland, an area of outstanding beauty. There is plenty of wildlife to see, with swallows nesting in the eaves, bird watching fans can see curlews, lapwings, owls, crows, buzzards, blue tits and plenty more to spot. On a clear night, the stars shine brightly with the chance of seeing shooting stars, it is an astronomers delight. We are surrounded by 280 acres of farmland, and woodlands you can explore Abbeystaed Village, Lancaster town and castle or the Lake District is only an hours drive away. We are a great space for walking groups or cyclists and there are many walks and cycling routes. It s a space to relax, get back to nature and unwind, in the peaceful surroundings.
You have peace and quiet with beautiful land and outdoor fire pit area, as we have no nieghbours it is very quiet, there are no street lights or traffic near by, we are lucky enough to live up a private lane surrounded by fields and magical wild life.
  • We had the best stay we went as a family of 8 !! 3 adults and 5 children we stayed just one night and wish we had been able To stay longer to truely appreciate the locations beauty. Helen the host was great attentive kind and we enjoyed a nice chat. The kids played all night and despite the horrid weather we were all cosy with the stove burning away. Great place and we will definitely go back thank you for having us x x x This place has been created with love and kindness ❤️

    Hannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A truly beautiful place through and through, amazing views and outdoor space. Keeping warm by the fire and enjoying the outdoor life and connecting with nature. The barn is amazing. It has everything that you need and a few surprises. Is an amazing place and an amazing experience. We loved it and hope to go back soon

    Lisa2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this place justice it is absolutely gorgeous. We spent new years here and the outdoor camping area was absolutely perfect for the atmosphere and the views into the hills are to die for. Absolutely everything we needed was provided for. Seen a couple of reviews calling the place basic: just look inside the draws and cupboards! Everything we needed was there and more. My favourite touch was the hot water bottles provided: much needed and very thoughtful. During the night when the fire dies down it does get very cold up there so my only definite advice is that you bring very sensible bedding to make sure you're warm enough. Other than that I really do not have a bad word to say. We will be returning!

    Glen2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, healthy/hearty stay for two nights in the barn. It was just what we were after, lots to do for the four children in our group - even a (unexpected in December) lamb to help milk. The garden space at the back of the barn is perfect to kick a ball around for a bit, there are little hobbit like homes for little ones to explore, and an amazing tree swing. We would love to return, perhaps in the spring or summer next time!

    Hettie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place would like to return and stay a bit longer allowing me to get to explore the local area

    Rebecca2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A bunk house with lots of character. Really great basic facilities. Campfire was wonderful. Day with Helen doing looming and pottery perfect way to spend a birthday. Helen is a wonderful host. A perfect place to appreciate what matters most in life.

Loud Mythom Barn is close to Chipping Village and some very special wedding venues. It is an ideal safe haven during these uncertain times. It is surrounded by unspoilt farmland with stunning views over the Fells. The Barn has been sympathetically converted with lots of character features retained, it was built to be a family home with innovative ground source heating and generous sized rooms. The Barn is ideal for families or friends getting together, pets are welcome too!
The Barn was converted in 2008 to a very high standard. We tried to retain many character features and put in innovative ground source heating to make it really cosy even if the wood burning fire hasn’t been lit. It is very spacious with all the rooms being generously sized. Downstairs flows from one room to another making it ideal for larger groups of friends or family to enjoy quality time together without being on top of each other. Outside is a very generous space with some lawn area, lots of hard standing for vehicles. We have planning permission to put up a stable block and tennis court ( on my old riding arena ). We hope to do this is the near future.
Although Loud Mythom Barn is very rural we are not too far off the beaten track. Chipping Village is approximately 2.5 miles away. It has two great pubs a cafe and Farm Shop. The Sun Inn will do takeaway meals and Sue at the Farm Shop is very happy to deliver food hampers, she does sell wines and beers along with wonderful local produce. The old post office also sells all sorts. In the opposite direction we have the award winning Inn at Whitewell, my personal favourite place for a delicious bar snack or special meal. Nearer still we have the Gibbon Bridge Hotel with its stunning gardens and great afternoon teas. For our younger guests the Wild Boar Park is a great day out and is a short five minute drive away. There is a BBQ and lots of outdoor space. Many of our guest are happy to just stay at the Barn and enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of the countryside.
  • Stunning countryside location away from it all. Perfect for complete relaxation. The house is clean and tidy, a really good size and with everything you need. Billie is a great host with great communication. Can't recommend this place enough.

Very old house so expect lots of cobwebs and spiders! Wifi has a good connection, tv is good and all the equipment in the kitchen is great! We had a walk to abbeystead reservoir which is really picturesque. We would definitely stay here again!

  • How to describe Abbeystead is difficult because it depends on what you are looking for. A truly magnificent home in stunning gardens. Faded glory in a lovely stone building dating back to the 17th century. Peaceful, beautiful, unfussy in a large rambling interior. A fantastic location and home for our family get together, space for everyone.

  • A well-loved, well lived-in house which exudes content and warmth. An ever-expanding garden full of interest and surprises - you'll find Peter's Pool over the stile. As for the setting, well, there's the moor, the rivers, the reservoir, the Shepherd's Church, the Inn at Whitewell ... Higher Lee's a place to find, enjoy, absorb and revisit.

  • Fabulous old house with bundles of character in a fab location. Perfect for a large group holiday, we were an extended family group and it couldn’t have worked better - this is THE house to play Cluedo in! I marked down cleanliness to 3 * but not in a bad way, simply reflecting that this is an old country house with cobwebs and dust which adds to its character. My top tip is that the house is known as Higher Lee but on google maps it is Higher Lea in Abbeystead - if you go for the one in Clitheroe you end up in the wrong place - overall loved it and completely recommend
