The Yeworthy Eco-Treehouse is an incredible off-grid retreat. Nestled in a secluded setting amongst the tree-tops above a lake, it's the perfect hideaway for couples seeking a romantic escape. The treehouse is kept cosy with a log burner, while breakfast cereals and milk are provided. Guests enjoy exclusive use of the summer house which is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine of an evening, as well as the rowing boat on the lake (guests use at their own risk).
The treehouse is off-grid, meaning that fresh drinking water is provided from a bowser and cooking is on a gas camping stove which is provided. In keeping with its eco-credentials, a composting sawdust toilet house is located separately, a few meters away nestled amongst the trees. Please note **there are no showering facilities**. Guests will need to bring their own towels. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
The treehouse is completely secluded and private. Guests can enjoy complete tranquility and spot the deer, geese and other wildlife that have the forest as their home.
  • Amazing place- so peaceful and it’s evident that so much thought has gone into every detail. Both hosts went the extra mile to be accommodating and the place exceeded expectations, will definitely be booking again.

  • Beautiful hideaway amongst the trees, overlooking the lake. Magical place where I re-proposed to my partner in the middle of nature, couldn’t recommend it more. Hope to come back! The hosts were lovely with excellent communication xxx

  • Beautiful location which is magical to wake up to sunrise in. So cosy and warm even in February! Loved walking around the surrounding area along the river. A really memorable trip and doggo was in his element! Would also love to come back in the summer.

    Natalie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our perfect place! Spent the whole weekend in these beautiful surroundings . Walked all through the woods , hitched rides on the many tyre / rope swings ! The treehouse is perfectly warm , stunning views- I wanted to take that balcony view home ! Love the whole set up ! Made full use of the gas stove provided - sausage /bacon sandwiches for breakfast and steak for our dinner ! Rocky enjoyed many boats rides too and the sun even made an appearance ....So much wildlife , we seen Deer, ravens , Canadian geese, woodcock and plenty of toads in the lake . My husband bought his solar shower so we weren’t fussed about the no shower facilities ! We would absolutely love to come again in warmer weather too :)

  • A real find. Great attention to detail, hooks on the back of the bathroom door, shelves to put things on, storage galore. Dishwasher tablet left out. Eggs and milk in fridge, along with tea, coffee, sugar and condiments. Very comfortable. Probably the best we've stayed in. And great value!

    Sue2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little property in a tranquil location. Patrick and Tracy made us feel really welcome. We really enjoyed staying here with our puppy. The property itself was immaculate and really cosy with a wood burner. The bed was super comfy and we were left some milk and eggs in the fridge. There’s plenty to see just within the grounds, Patrick and Tracy have a small holding of animals including chickens, alpacas and Buster the pig! You can also walk down to the beautiful lakes. We took the hosts advice and pre booked a table at the nearby Clovelly Inn about a 6-8 minute drive away and had a lovely meal - pub is also dog friendly but only on the table nearest the front door so booking is advised. We will definitely look to stay here again in future.

Escape the World of chaos @HOF HUT-a wooden hut offering a stunning rustic wood interior, uniquely built & designed by the owners. Larger than a shepherds hut, it contains everything you need to be able to shut yourselves away, in a beautiful rural setting. The space is open plan with bi-fold doors for you to fully enjoy the view, with an en-suite shower room. The immediate outside space-Japanese woodfired hot tub, sunterrace, covered bar area, bbq/firepit are for use by HOF HUT guests ONLY.
****IMPORTANT INFO**** ** Coronavirus Update- Don't worry we are still very much open. When you arrive, we will have got everything ready for you but not be there to greet you in person. Everything can be dealt with via Airbnb messaging and a welcome/instruction letter. We will still need to manage the hot tub woodburner/cover system but otherwise you will be alone and able to self isolate. Its the perfect place for this! If you suspect you are infected before your stay, or develop symptoms during your stay please message us immediately. The stay can always be cancelled without any fees. ***Please note for your peace of mind, with all stays after 1st March 2020 we are now ensuring our normal cleaning management is enhanced with the disinfecting of high use surfaces and Hot tub water change after each stay. This should not affect your enjoyment of the Hut (might smell a bit bleachy/piney). Check in times therefore apply in order for us to make the hut perfect for you. *SO SORRY WE DON'T ALLOW PETS *BOTH GUESTS NEED TO BE OVER 21 YRS OLD TO STAY HERE HOF HUT & JAPANESE HOT TUB (Finally!) Set in a conservation area, HOF HUT offers incredible views across to the foothills of Dartmoor. Yes Tor is the most prominent feature with its hourly changing weather patterns. We finished building the hut Autumn 2019 hence the reason there aren't many reviews and it is a little sister to our other accommodation HOF Cottage which is listed on other sites inc Airbnb. HOF HUT is completely unique from start to finish- exterior handmade by host Tim and all interior furniture, fixtures and fittings handmade by host Siobhan. Madly and uniquely creative as hopefully you can see from the pics. We give you the space you need but are also on hand to stoke the hot tub fire /sort anything hot tub related. Being Boutique, you get the very best of everything- quality bed linen, fluffy towels and robes, slippers, pillow choccies + superior added extras. There's a little diddy woodburner in the corner of the hut to warm your cockles after a hard day's hike on Dartmoor and all the wood you need for it (you really don't need much). A powerful rustic shower with its corrugated tin nuttiness, and a kitchenette you can whip up anything you put your mind to. The TV is a smart one, meaning you can stream all your fave netflix movies and the hut has its own WiFi hub so the signal is pretty strong. We have upcycled recycling bins for you to use and are passionate about repurposing items and protecting our little ecosystem here. Basically the hut has been purpose built for your comfort and ease of use whilst hopefully making you smile with its unique design, love and touches. Hof (japanese) Hot tub is totally private and made for sole use by guests in Hof Hut. It is a unique hand built construction of cast concrete and re-purposed wood, 8ft x 8ft with glass roof pergola. It is enclosed with clear view acrylic window/wooden framed panels so you can be snug whilst outside Winter does its worst. Normally heated to 38 degrees or thereabouts, your worries and time will simply slip away as you indulge in this magical experience- with just the hoot of an owl, crackle of the fire and sound of lapping water to disturb you. Make use of the fluffy robes and pool towels included in your stay. Please give us 12hrs notice if you wish to use the hot tub- it takes 10hrs to reach temperature in Winter and will cool down to about 30 degress by the morning. It is also therefore perfect for daytime cooling should you wish to use the sunloungers on the terrace in late Spring & Summer. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT WE NEED TO PERIODICALLY STOKE THE FIRE, CLEAN THE TUB OR TAKE OFF THE COVER SO PLEASE EXCUSE OUR INTRUSION. (We will try to be as discreet as possible). Please also note, March 22/03/20 Chlorine is an effective detergent against Covid -19 as set out in Public Health England website information. That is the info for swimming pools. Our hot tub has a vastly superior concentration of chlorine so its super effective. Please also note the hot tub water is changed after each stay and the pool sides are also cleaned down with bleach. We are therefore doing everything we can to make your stay an enjoyable yet healthy one. Last but not least- you'll get bored of us saying this but it really is a place only for GUESTS OVER 21 YR S OLD. It really doesn't work for babies, children or people younger than 21 and we are sorry about that but please don't run the risk of having your booking cancelled if you are.
Northlew is a sleepy backwater and a fantastic location to escape the big bad world as it currently is. You will immediately notice how quiet this place is. Owls hooting, horses neighing, the donkey next door baying for his food- are just some of the noises you will hear as you dial down to nature at its very best. The village is set in the foothills of Dartmoor, 12 mins from the nearest town (Okehampton) population of about 600. The fresh air, big starry skies, peace & quiet will do you a world of good- that's a promise. The 2 churches walk of about 4 miles will give you all the flavour and perspective you need to understand the area.
  • Took my boyfriend here as an early birthday present. The hof hut was incredible! So beautifully crafted and designed! • A visit to the HOF Hut is an absolute must!! We stayed for one night only and needed time and space to relax...perfect! The minute you set eyes on the Hut you know you are somewhere special. Amazing hand made furniture and fittings, all crafted in a fab rustic style, a log burner that keeps the space snug even in February! The bed is super comfortable, we enjoyed the best night's sleep. Lots of little touches that added something special, freshly baked bread, luxurious towels and robes, chocolate! The outside space, exclusively for the Hut has confortable seating, a fire tray, an honesty bar, candles and beautiful lighting....everything has been thought about, wonderfully uniquely crafted. Then of course there is the hot tub, large, sheltered, and heated to a perfect temperature. We can't recommend the HOF Hut and Siabhan enough..we will be back!!

For those more adventurous souls, we are just on theCornish border, and the cities of Exeter and Plymouth are each an hour away. The surfers among you can easily reach the stunning North Devon coast, and walkers can stride out on Dartmoor in half an hour. Closer to home, our local pub is the Bratton Clovelly Inn. Warm, friendly and with great food.
  • Natasha’s place provides the exact definition of rural tranquility. If you’re a nature lover and enjoy your time outside this place and the surrounding area will be right up your street. The BBQ hut is a phenomenal amenity within the grounds and is a great place to socialise, eat, drink and listen to music when it’s a little colder at night. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone who likes the look of it...

  • What a wonderful haven and in such a lovely location. Even the rain couldn’t deter from the uniqueness of the cabin, the beautiful gardens and the fantastic bbq hut, which we utilised often! Natasha is such a lovely host and the lovely personal touches really added to the stay!

    Sophie2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful surroundings and immaculate grounds/garden enabling you to glamp in rural Devonshire and BBQ in style. Thank you Natasha and Phil.

  • We loved our stay, BBQ hut is awesome! Every evening we grilled meat, fish and veggies. Plan your shopping, superstore in Okehampton. Great hikes in Dartmoor.

  • Natasha’s cabin is a little piece of heaven! Beautiful grounds, scenic walks and lovely hosts really made our holiday. Natasha was an excellent host, she provided homemade bread, butter, bacon and juice on our arrival which we were massively grateful for. We fell in love with the garden and loved the BBQ hut! We certainly didn’t want to leave and will treasure the memories. Thank you Natasha, we hope to see you again soon!

  • Unforgettable! The accommodation is very clean, immaculate, very charming and there is absolutely everything in the mobile home. We have not missed anything, Natasha & Phil are adorable and responsive. The garden is a real paradise, and the cabin / barbecue is a real plus. We had exceptional experiences, and Devon is really worth exploring with so many wonderful places. Thank you very much to our guests for making our vacation a perfect week! We hope to return!

  • We only were able to stay for a weekend but I must say it was absolutely fantastic! Firstly the grounds are to die for, and so well kept by Natasha and Phil! Natasha was so so kind and caring and made us feel so welcome. Our 6 and 7 year olds couldn't get enough of the gorgeous garden and of course the BBQ hut that is so cosy and fun. The cabin itself was impeccable and very comfortable. Natasha puts in so much attention to detail and left us lovely supplies for breakfast. The area itself had lovely things to do. We got to explore Roadford lake and Lydford gorge, both beautiful days out. We will certainly return for a longer stay, it is a real hidden gem!

It is set in beautiful countryside and is a short drive from the lovely market town of Okehampton and Dartmoor national park, about 45 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from the seaside town of Bude in the other direction. We have several attractions, including the Eden Project, Dartmoor Zoo and Roadford Lake (ideal for different water sports), in the area.
  • Baileys Farm is a lovely place set in the country. Was a perfect base for us to catch up with family members in the area over New Year. Second time we have stayed here and as with last time lovely place, clean, tidy and has everything you need. Would definitely recommend and stay again

  • We were looking for somewhere to get away from it all and Baileys Farm was perfect. Friendly hosts and a real home from home with all the amenities we needed. The gorgeous fresh flowers by Jane were a really special extra! We loved the peace and quiet of the farm and also found the location ideal for exploring Devon & Cornwall. We’d love to return if we’re in the area again!

  • Hello traveling friends, You can go to Jane and Phil with your eyes closed! The cottage is very cozy, very clean, and very well equipped. We were there with our 3 children who loved their stay, including visiting the farm, and the garden arranged for them to play. Jane and Phil are lovely hosts: they respect our privacy, but they are also there to answer our questions, chat and give excellent tour tips. We thoroughly enjoyed being so welcome despite our arrival at a late hour (our ferry was arriving at Plymouth at 20:15), and were very pleasantly surprised by all the little touches that awaited us in the different rooms of the house. I do not say more, I leave you the pleasure to discover for yourself!

    Wendy2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely holiday at Baileys Farm, Jane and Phil were just so welcoming nothing was too much effort for them, they really welcomed us into the life of their farm and their family, including their grandchildren which our girls enjoyed sharing the garden with. Within 30 minutes we could be in deep countryside, on a Cornish beach or up on the moor, so the location was ideal. Thanks for a fantastic holiday.

Kelleden is a wood cladded lodge in a log cabin style, set in the grounds of The Barn at Brockscombe Cross, near Okehampton. Its tranquil location in the countryside gives it an air of a mountain lodge in the alps, offering warmth and comfort in the winter and relaxation and isolation all year round. It is a well equipped, centrally heated two bed accommodation ideal for a romantic getaway, while also giving a great space suitable for a small family or group of friends (unsuitable for pets).
To make your stay more convenient, a light/continental style breakfast can be provided by prior arrangements at £5 per guest. Please let us know at time of booking if you would like to have this service. The cabin was built four years ago by my husband and I and lived here in the cabin for nearly two years while we converted the Barn. The cabin is set in the 5 acre grounds of The Barn, amongst 3 acres of woodland consisting of conifers and English oaks, beech, birch and ash trees, with a small river at the bottom of our land. On a quiet, clear evening, you can listen to the river and the birds song whilst sitting out on the veranda watching the sunset through the trees. It is a good place to hear many owls during the day and night time and to watch a large variety of wild birds and other wild animals like Badgers, Rabbits, Red Deer and foxes. It is a place to unwind, relax and feel 'you' again. There are plenty of things to do in the area, whether it's to embrace the elements and scenery on nearby Dartmoor or seek adventure and fun at the many tourist attractions in Devon, before coming back to the cabin's cosy space at the end of a perfect day. Despite it's beautiful rural location, we are sorry that the cabin and garden area is not suitable for guests to bring any pets. For days out, The cabin is perfectly located in the mid-Devon area with Cornwall's north coast, Devon's south coast, Plymouth, Exeter and Barnstable all within a 25 mile radius! Nightly prices are based on our weekly rental charges of £350 per week from 1st October to 31st May (low season) and £500 per week from 1st June to 30th September (high season).
The cabin is in a rural environment, surrounded by woodland and farmland. There are few houses nearby as our neighbours live and work on their farms. There are many walks from the cabin's doorstep along country lanes and bridleways. A view of Dartmoor National Park can be seen from the top of our lane and the cabin is only 2 1/2 miles away from the edge of Roadford Lake. There is a lovely country pub in the nearby village of Bratton Clovelly 2 miles away which does good food and real ales.
  • Great spot! Susan is a great host. Everything we needed. Will stay again if I’m in the area!

    David2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptionally well-equipped. Super comfy beds and sparkling clean throughout, with many thoughtful touches. Highly recommended for a stay exploring nearby Dartmoor.

  • Sue's place was gorgeous! Sue was very welcoming and we were made to feel at home straight away. The cabin was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped. Each bedroom had an en suite, and was tastefully decorated. Although it was very cold weather, the cabin was very warm. It was so lovely to back to after a day off exploring Devon. I would definitely come back in the future, maybe in the summer, because the garden is lovely! I would definitely recommend Sue's place! Thank you, Sue, for a wonderful stay!

  • Perfect place for us (2 adults and 2 young kids). Great location just off Dartmoor with plenty to do in the local area (even in bad weather!). Great facilities at the property, lovely and warm and a nice welcome cake!

  • A lovely lodge set amongst a forrest. The lodge is clean and well kept and Susan was an excellent host. We slept 5, with a travel cot for our youngest and there was more than enough room for our two night stay. The beds are very comfy. Looking forward to future stays at the lodge!

    Robert2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in this lovely cabin. It was perfect for our family's needs. We loved the super-king bed, with views out in to the garden and the wood. Our son spent time outside building a den amongst the trees. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the place was spotlessly clean. Sue was a fantastic host. There were so many thoughtful touches. For example, she had moved games (with small pieces) from the bottom shelf so that our baby would not get in to them. Our son enjoyed eating the biscuits provided and there were supplies to make a cup of tea on arrival. Sue provided lots of little extras, like shampoo, shower gel, kitchen roll, salt and pepper which made self-catering life easier. I would definitely recommend this place and, before we even left, I was planning a return visit.

  • A wonderful weekend away! A lovely welcome from Siobhan when we arrived to what became a home away from home. There were personal touches throughout (chocolates, fizz, food and more! We were so spoilt) that made us feel so special. The whole cottage had a lovely cosy atmosphere with everything you could need and more! Sadly the storm stopped some of our plans, but it was a blessing in disguise as we got to spend more time in the cottage. It was so lovely to just sit back and relax in a beautiful, peaceful place. Siobhan really thought of everything and there's nothing we could fault/recommend to improve - it really was perfect! There was plenty of info and recommendations, with a lot care clearly put into everything. We will definitely be coming back (in better weather so we can enjoy the location more) - but really recommend a stay, you won't regret it!

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely wonderful, in a very quiet area and the perfect place to relax for a few days. Siobhan has made the place to feel very homely and was always there to make our trip truly remarkable. Thank you!

    Maiko2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A stay to remember. Greeted with a smile & homemade treats on arrival. A very well appointed, cosy, intimiate, warm country cottage. Had access to hot tub and characterful candle-lit outside bar which was wonderful. Siobhan is a kind and thoughtful host who is keen to ensure you have a happy stay. Expect the usual country wifi challenges and bring own toiletries and you'll not be wanting for anything else.

  • This is a lovely place to stay! Ideal for a relaxing getaway as it’s cosy and in a nice location. Siobhan has done a great job making it what it is and we are grateful to have been able to enjoy it! She was quick to respond to messages and her and her husband were very hospitable. • This is wonderful place to stay in a great location! It worked so well for us, the extra bed in the bedroom was ideal for our one and four year old to stay in. Once up the stairs from the front door the accommodation is all on one floor which made it safe for our adventurous toddler! The grounds were ideal, the trampoline and geese were a real hit! We were able to fit some lovely day trips and a visit to friends in Cornwall. Adrian and Hazel were great hosts and so kind and thoughtful providing yummy cream teas, fresh milk and home baked bread on arrival. Thanks so much we would love to make it an annual trip!

    Chloe2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We have had a lovely stay at The Veiw. The place is spotless, has great scenery and is a real home away from home. The kitchen is well equipped and we were kindly given an array of eggs, loaf of bread and cream tea on our arrival. There are board games, children's toys including a trampoline, tents with sleeping bags, stuff for the beach, picnics, the list goes on. This was a great base for us to visit the sights of Devon and Cornwall. Thanks Adrian and Hazel for being so welcoming and the perfect hosts. We highly recommend staying at The View.

  • Patchacott is an absolutely wonderful place to stay and Adrian and Hazel are truly lovely hosts. The annex is comfortable, attractive and bright with beautiful views, the kitchen is well equipped, the bed is excellent and the pull out is very comfortable. It is a little out of the way but we like that and location is peaceful, plus the chickens and ducks are amusing to watch. I hope we get the opportunity to return!

    Penny2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts could not have been better. Genuinely lovely people who gave us the warmest welcome. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped. The views were fantastic and the area was very peaceful. Our 2 year old son loved the chickens and ducks and was entertained with the outdoor toys. Thank you both for the home made welcome pack. We would recommend staying here if your looking for a peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle (and streetlights)!

  • Adrian and Hazel were amazing hosts. The place is comfortable and beautiful, the views exceptional, the hospitality incredible. They kindly checked us in and showed us around the place even though we arrived pretty late! Hazel baked some goodies for us, watch out for the delicious homemade scones with clotted cream and jam! They gave us a dozen assorted eggs produced from their mini farm and recommended us places to go to eat, walk and visit. We cannot recommend Adrian and Hazel highly enough! Big thanks for the hospitality and for enabling us to have a very enjoyable weekend! Best Dylan, Debbie and Faith!

  • The most amazing and homey stay at the cottage. The kitchen is so well equipped, as is the rest of the place. We loved all the personal touches and ease of getting around. Really sad to have left this place- could have moved in!

    Ange2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Paddocks Barn is simply one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in; an amazingly peaceful and beautiful escape. The amount of effort and love that has gone into the property is abundantly clear with it’s high quality yet super cosy furniture and decorations. Would definitely come back and we highly recommend. Thank you so much Sara and Brent.

    Chloe2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t know where to start - I could go on all day about all the lovely things in this home! So In love with Paddocks Barn, we don’t want to leave. We stayed for over a month and the cottage is really well equipped for long stays as well as short, Sara & Brent have thought of everything you could possibly need whilst staying there, I thought it was really nice to arrive to fresh flowers and that there was already shampoo/conditioner, shower gels, soaps etc there already. Even in the kitchen there’s all condiments already there for you & added extras in the cottage like books, blankets in the cupboard, extra heater (although not needed as the cottage is lovely and warm) spare duvets/bedding, fire wood, good selection of board games all brand new, honestly this list could go on & on. Sara & Brent also came round to drop off clean towels & bedding and what lovely hosts they are, they couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel really welcome, it was a pleasure to meet them. The cottage itself has the comfiest bed, the shower is amazing & there’s lots of storage to put all your things which came in handy. The area surrounding the cottage is so peaceful & there are some lovely country walks nearby. Out of any 5* hotels we’ve stayed at not one of them would compare to this cottage, it’s so relaxing with the sound of birds every morning and the open fire in the living room. I also love how it’s modern but still with that rustic cottage feel. We will without a doubt be staying again, loved every minute of it, thank you.

    Emily2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, wonderful location and great communication with owners. Highly recommend stopping at Paddocks Barn.

    Jane2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • My wife, our little dog Ella and I had a lovely 5 night stay in Sara’s beautiful secluded cottage. The space is full of thoughtful little amenities from shampoo and shower gel to board games and various dvd boxsets! There’s several nice walks right on the doorstep and the property is just a short drive from various Dartmoor hotspots, we couldn’t recommend more highly!

    Ian2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Picture perfect and sparkling clean, this idyllic cottage was pure pleasure to enjoy. I especially savoured the evenings sitting in front of the wood burner watching the flames dance. The entire area is the very definition of a natural paradise. Nothing could stand in sharper contrast to the hustle and bustle of London. The moment you open the terrace door you step into plush green wilderness. What a treat for those looking to escape the big city and relax. Thank you Sara for making this lovely place available on AirBnB and for being such a great host!

  • A place to relax and switch off, it was a perfect weekend away even though there was a storm all weekend we still had the best time, amazing fireplace which keeps the entire cabin so warm - would highly recommend for those who love to be around nature. Quirky little homemade cabin with no electric and basic amenities, great to get away from everything! will be back sometime in the future.

  • This is such a lovely and special place to stay. It's really inspiring to see all the work it's taken and we loved the chance to enjoy it's simplicity.

  • A beautiful handmade house in a serene woodland setting. Lovely touches throughout the house and the stove kept us very warm at night.

  • Julie's woodland retreat is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all if you're looking for some back-to-basics R&R. It's set in a lovely little woodland with a garden where you can forage for fresh herbs and relax out on the decking. The cabin itself is lovely with all the amenities you could need, plus a few extra touches like board games and freshly picked teas in the kitchen. It's worth noting that although there is basic lighting, there are no plug sockets for charging appliances, only a USB port for a phone. Julie was very helpful and attentive whenever we had questions. There's a supermarket around 15 mins drive away and a few pubs nearby too. Overall a wonderful stay and would highly recommend!

  • We had a lovely night's stay at Jenny's place on a trip down to the West to look at houses. Jenny could not have been more friendly or welcoming, and went out of her way to help us with some questions we had about living in the area. The room was spotless, with everything you would need for an overnight stay including a range of hot drinks and homemade biscuits. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, with a range of Jenny's homemade jams. It was a pleasure to meet Jenny and her lovely well-mannered dog Scamp and we would not hesitate to stay with her again. Thanks Jenny!

    James2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of days at Jenny’s house. The bath was enormous, as was the shortbread biscuit she left in the room for us! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and Jenny couldn’t have been more helpful. We would absolutely stay there again if we ever find ourselves staying near Dartmoor.

  • Only stayed one night en route to st ives. Jenny is lovely, so warm and friendly, very accommodating. The room was lovely with homemade shortbread. Lots of ice for our drinks and tea and coffee facilities. The room was very large with three lovely windows to see the beautiful views. Bathroom is lovely with gorgeous bath and powerful shower attachment.Scamps, her dog is so cute and so laid back and so quiete, just lovely. I'm into macro photography of insects so Jenny's garden was amazing. So much wildlife. Lots of varied butterflies bees, hover flies, shield bugs, crab spider, just amazing. Beautiful eucalyptus tree in garden just fantastic. We heard about 4 owls as we were nodding off. Lots of birds too. The variations of flowers and plants jenny has is just great. Two ponds, lots of raised beds. Apple trees, plum trees, raspberries...If you love nature you'll love her garden. We will be back. The breakfast was lovely too, jenny asks what you would like and at one time. Very, very relaxed. We loved it. We will be back.

  • Fantastic facilities and hospitality, breakfast and amenities in the property were all very thought about and welcomed. Thank you

    Sally2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The pump room was fantastic. Perfect for families such as ourselves or longer travelers. The accomodation was luxurious with little touches that made it special - it felt more boutique hotel than B&B but was also very comfortable for our young children. The kids loved the books and toys, feeding the chickens and playing on the outdoor equipment. Chris and her family were welcoming, breakfast was delicious (make it yourself with fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, bread and preserves) and the area is beautiful. Highly recommend.

    Jennifer2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is the most fantastic host, she put so many thoughtful touches into our stay, including a few Halloween treats which delighted my young boys! We loved being able to feed the animals and collect eggs for our breakfast, and having small kittens to play with was lovely! The space was perfect for a young family and I would absolutely come back to stay again!

    Claire2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stopped over here on our way down to Cornwall, after a leisurely trip exploring Dartmoor on the way. Perfectly situated on the outskirts of Dartmoor, the property has loads of outside space for children to play, and animals for them to interact with - proper memory making stuff. The apartment itself was newly fitted out, and spotlessly clean, even the fridge was freshly stocked with everything we could need - including treats! We’ve never visited an Airbnb that left chocolates on our pillows before! The host bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, I even lost my wife for half an hour - only to find her gasbagging over a glass of Prosecco with Chris! There’s a lot going on outside, as the main property is in the final stages of being rebuilt, but don’t let this detract from the fact that this is an excellent value, ideal place to stay. We will definitely be back, and for longer next time. Thank you! Oh, and the 12 mind bending puzzles, are all do-able. See if you can complete them all during your stay.

    Martin2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed over breaking up our journey down to Cornwall and again on our way home. Chris is working so hard rebuilding her home. The side of the house is a building site, but it's changing every day, as we witnessed when we returned 7days later. The accommodation is perfect for short breaks and Chris is so friendly and great with kids getting them involved with the animals. Amazing choice of foods for breakfast too.

    Vicky2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay and will definitely come back again. The space is as described and my children (age 13 and 10) enjoyed playing on the trampoline with J and helping with the animals. Chris left us plenty of food including fruit, yoghurts, milk and bread and sent us home with eggs that the children collected themselves. I also thought the fresh flowers in the bedroom was a nice touch. Great location for walking and Okehampton is close by. Overall it exceeded our expectations and we felt very welcome.

    Nicola2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was perfect, the kids had an amazing time with the animals and you guys went above and beyond to include us in your farm life! A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of town life.

We are very keen on conservation and run everything to be as environmentally friendly as possible to support all kinds of wildlife; some of our developing and ongoing projects include meadow creation and orchard planting, with many more ideas bubbling away. Fresh eggs and home produce can be provided on request. Our cottage can sleep 7 guests; there is a double master bedroom with en-suite containing a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC, two twin bedrooms (one of which has a sloping ceiling, so it is mostly suitable for children, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. With two reception rooms and a large kitchen with a breakfast area, there is plenty of space for the family to watch TV together or dine comfortably in the separate dining room, before adjourning to the sitting room. You can relax in the private and enclosed garden where children can play safely, and adults can enjoy the quiet peace of a rural countryside garden, whilst relaxing with a refreshing drink or dining alfresco. We provide a garden bench and some summer deck chairs! All our furniture has been hand decorated with a welcoming country, shabby chic style and much of the artwork has been created by my talented mum. We are situated 1 mile from the local village of Northlew where there is a village square with a pub and a community shop. We are in close range to Dartmoor National Park for fun-filled activities such as hiking, pony riding, tor bagging, letter boxing and exploring miles of rugged open space and amazing views. Why not venture on one of the variety of walks along the pretty Devon lanes? We have created a map of local circular walks to help you navigate your way around this beautiful countryside, as well as providing information on local attractions (such as lakes, gold courses, activity centres, sporting activities, shopping centres, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants). If you love beaches or surfing, the North and South Devon coastlines are a short drive from our comfortable farmhouse cottage and the cathedral city of Exeter offers plenty of retail therapy opportunities, bars, restaurants and cafés. • Lovely little cottage near to Dartmoor. We were welcomed with freshly baked cakes and opportunities for the children to meet some of the animals. Great space for a family of 5. Lots of useful information on local area and tips from Kitty.

In your Pod you can have a choice of king-size or twin beds. Bedding and towels are included. USB port for charging your mobile phone and a composting loo a short walk away. You are welcome to have a shower in the downstairs utility area at the main farmhouse, or alternatively you can have a nice relaxing stroll to the shower block that's situated in the main campsite. . All eating and cooking utensils are provided, with a fire bin to relax in front of, to partake in some star gazing.
Westdown Farm has 92 beautiful acres which is an ideal place for the photographers and wildlife enthusiasts among you as we have over 30 species of butterfly and our fields are rich in wild flowers and grasses. Be sure to bring your camera with you. Westdown Farm is also home to our Pedigree herd of British Longhorn Cattle who manage the land by grazing (don’t worry they are not running wild). This helps maintain the diversity of the flora, consequently helping the butterfly to thrive. With a small herd of Goats, you can say hello to our friendly bunch. They are only too happy to have their picture taken with you! Westdown Farm is approximately 500ft above sea level, with views of Dartmoor from the south of the farm, and on a clear day, views of Exmoor from the other; we are not short of some beautiful scenery.
The seaside city of Plymouth is 45 minutes drive south and Bude beach is 30 minutes’ drive north west. The county capital Exeter is a 30 minute drive, all places being worth a visit. If you like a walk, Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve is a 10 minute drive north from us and Dartmoor is 20 minutes south. Lydford Gorge is also a must see if you like walking. Warhorse Village (Iddesleigh) is 15 minutes away where you are made welcome in the Duke of York pub where beer is served from casks behind the bar, as is also the case in the Red Lion, Exbourne. The Tally Ho! A real Devon country pub serves good food and ale some of which is made in their own Brewery, 5 minutes up the road in Hatherleigh. If you fancy a swim but not in the sea, Parklands swimming pool in Okehampton is 10 minutes away and Simmons Park, next door, is where you can have a lovely stroll alongside the river in a very pretty park.
  • Beautiful location, lovely hosts.

  • A lovely quaint place in the middle of wonderful woods... clean and tidy and Richard is very helpful and friendly and could not be more accommodating.

  • We had the best time at Westdown Farm, Wild Camping & Glamping, Devon! We stayed for two nights, in one of the glamping pods and had such a great stay. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and had all the help we needed when wanted and complete privacy the rest of the time. Our pod was in the forest, surrounded by beautiful countryside and so peaceful. The pod was made up with a kingsize bed and very comfortable bedding and there was also room for our bags and all the camping essentials (plates, cutlery, utensils etc.) under the bed. We had lovely fresh towels so no need to bring your own if in a pod. The compostable toilet was a very short walk away and absolutely spotless (as was the pod!). They manage to stay very fresh (if you use them correctly!) and there was a tap with lovely hand wash just outside. We were able to use either the camping showers or showers in the guest utility area (where there was also a fridge & freezer for guest use if needed - we managed fine with our cool bag). Shower also spotless! We went out on the first night to The George in Hatherleigh to eat (I recommend booking as it gets busy with hotel guests), where we had a delicious meal. Other than that, we stayed on site on our fold up chairs (supplied) by the fire, drinking wine, singing songs, eating good food and getting away from it all. We also visited the farm goats (we arranged to go up to the cowshed at feeding time with Stacey) and the farm pigs. There is also a lovely cat, who will sit on your shoulders if you let her! We can’t thank Stacey enough for hosting us on the wonderful farm and for doing all she could to ensure we had a good stay. We absolutely loved our time at the farm and will definitely be returning!

  • Richard is a naturalist and ecologist who thinks he is a farmer and former builder. He knows about the unique ecological niche each of his fields occupies and can tell you about the 33 different species of butterflies, the flowers, lichen bats and owls and so much more. You can ask Stacey for tour of the farm and meet and greet the animals (currently pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and Longhorn English cows) and collect eggs which you can also buy. They also make other produce at times, but the farm comes first. The family recycle everything and your vegetable plate scrapings go to the grateful pigs. The fabulous compost toilets (which you "flush" with sawdust) are clean and smell of the woodland around you, and nothing like a shared facility often can! The Solar Powered showers are hot enough to warm you after a soaking on Dartmoor and are included in the price. You can access the campers' fridge and freezer at the house for food and ice block freezing, and they'll happily charge up your phone from the mains (all included). In the Pods there is also Solar Power that serves 2 USB sockets and LED lighting. This resource is shared, so greedy leave-all-the-lights-on types will not be popular! The paths are lit the same way by motion sensor activated lights. Otherwise on the farm a full moon is better to see the bats (Pipistrelle and Long-eared) and owls (Barn and Tawny), and you can use the hand-wind torch provided to navigate the gravel tracks. The pods have all the kit you need to cook and eat, very warm bedding and you will be brought more water as you need it. A head torch might be a help if you are using the stove after dark. You can camp alone and see almost no one, or pop in to the house, chat to the family or your fellow campers and "Pod People". You can pass the day listening to bird song in The Mysterious Wood looking for the foot prints of Red deer (and others of course - this is no monoculture!) or drive to Dartmoor to take advantage of everything that offers. I cannot possibly recommend this place to you though. It's beauty is partly that it isn't crowded. So please don't visit.

This two bedroom beautifully converted Shippen Barn, on the edge of Dartmoor, is warm and comfortable with a wood burning stove for winter and a sun deck for summer. Surrounded by 26 acres of woodland, it is only a 10 minute drive into Okehampton with Waitrose, Lidl and a host of other local shops. The beautiful north coast is only half an hour by car, and Dartmoor is on the doorstep, with a wealth of lovely walks.
Shippen Cottage is part of Kigbeare Manor Farm and Kigbeare Studios & Gallery and is a beautifully old conversted cow barn on two levels. It has its own secluded patio as well as a sun-deck overlooking the orchard.
  • We’ve just returned from a New Year break and it’s a wonderful place. Stunning location (down a very long, narrow track which is worth bearing in mind) very close to Okehampton with great views. Maddy was an excellent host, very polite and welcoming but also giving us all the privacy we were looking for. The craft studios etc are well worth a look, and there are some lovely walks on the grounds themselves (all marked in the visitor guide book). It’s the best equipped rental property we’ve ever been in. Especially the kitchen but also down to little and very useful items like a torch on the walls. And rare to have an iron and board available which was useful. Kitchen table looked small in photos but is extendable to a perfect size. Log burner worked very well indeed and very efficient, with everything needed supplied. The whole place has clearly had a lot of thought, care and attention to detail, more so than any Airbnb I’ve seen before. And the welcome snacks, drinks etc were much appreciated. A lovely stay, thanks Maddy!

  • A special place and a lovely home from home with everything we needed. Lovely for walking and not far from Okehampton. We spent a quiet Christmas here and Mandy and Phil were great hosts. Thanks 😊

    Claire2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable with a lovely log burner and cosy beds. We really enjoyed staying in such a warm and welcoming place and the extra little touches provided made everything feel much more special than a regular airbnb rental. The cottage is surrounded by woodland and has amazing views - you really do feel away from it all - and yet it’s just a short drive into Oakhampton where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. We’d definitely stay again!

    Rachel2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect spot for a very relaxing break. A cosy and clean cottage with great amenities, beautiful surroundings. Good base for exploring Devon and Cornwall. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Maddy's cottage is an absolute gem! We stayed over a long weekend and had everything we needed for an extremely comfortable stay. The location is great and the cottage is delightful. Very clean, with lovely extra touches from the host. We will definitely be back in the near future.

    Tino2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Shippon Cottage is absolutely one of the best Airbnb stays we've had! It is set on the most gorgeous farm, with lovely views over the Devon countryside. The cottage itself has everything you need and more. It is a lovely mix of elegance and cosy rustic, with a full set of luxury touches. Maddy is welcoming, with swift and friendly communication throughout. We cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to a return visit!

    Rachel2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in rural Devon. You do not feel isolated, because the hosts live close by, but you most certainly are off the beaten track. Just an ideal location for visiting places over Dartmoor. Lovely, cosy accommodation.

    Lynn2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect to explore Dartmoor and Cornwall, the cottage is just ideal, nice comfortable, spacious, with plenty of details and attentions. It is part of the compound where different artisans have their workshop : the Devon soap, potters... Madeleine and her husband, the owners, have their house just opposite the cottage, they are happy to give you tips and addresses to discover the region. There is enough to entertain a family with teenagers for a week ! If you are looking for a quiet place, with privacy and yet the possibility to exchange -not just a key in a locker but really the essence of Air bnb- this is the place !

This traditional hut constructed by ourselves, provides a fully equipped kitchen, shower room with toilet, small double bed, log burner in the hut. Clean bedding, towels, toiletries, milk, hot beverages, bread, butter & other extras to make you stay easier. Private seating area looking out onto the woodland, fire pit, bbq & covered decked area. woodland walk on your door step, 20 mins to the Cornish border, Okehampton, Launceston & Dartmoor, 25 mins north coast, A30 is 10 mins so good stop over
On arrival you will be able to make a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate with pint fresh milk, 2 eggs, bread, jams and butter. The comfy SMALL double bed will be made with fresh bedding and bath towels. Toiletries, toilet rolls are supplied. The compact and well equipped kitchen has a microwave, two gas tops, fridge, sink, cafeteria, toaster and everything needed to wash your dishes. You can enjoy your meals at the breakfast bar looking out onto the open woodland and no other properties in view. Glamping is NOT new as the shepherds and woodmen did it 100’s of years ago and this hut has been constructed by ourselves and as near to the original design, with turn table and bed with storage under for your bags not the sheep. This hut is giving you the experience of this but with the luxury of an en-suite providing a hot shower, working toilet and sink, no eco toilet or walk to another building for these facilities! parking is next to the hut in your private gated driveway. Being in this area means that your phone signal may be weak and no internet is provided. The idea is to escape so there is no tv in the shepherd hut, so lap tops are needed if you want to watch a film! There is a radio with Bluetooth, books and games in your shepherds hut for you to enjoy. Or light the log burner (bucket of wood supplied, extra wood for a small charge) in the evenings or on wet days for a toasty hut which you will not want to leave. You will have a bbq (one bag of charcoal supplied, extra for a small charge) for the sunny days and a fire pit in the evenings to sit around. (Wood supplied) Shaded decked area, deck chairs, picnic blanket and separate seating areas around the private area with the woodland and walks on your door step and so many places to visit locally.
The area the shepherds hut situation is central to visit so many places, there is so much to do within easy reach and the area is rich in wildlife. It is very quiet and peaceful, you will have woodland and open areas for the amazing stars at night. Roadford lake is 10 mins away for water activities or a quiet walk along the water edge, cafe there for a quick lunch or drink. The woodland is at your door step for you to explore and enjoy.
  • Stating that I know I’ll be back is about the best feedback there is! Jen is so accommodating and her communication is prompt and friendly. It was a heavenly retreat to see in the new year, stunning location and so many helpful tips about the area from Jen and Nick to maximise your stay. They really have thought of everything you could need or want and the little touches really add to the experience. Thank you both heaps and Happy New Year xx

    Kathryn2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jen was the most perfect host who thought about every little detail to make our stay extra special! There was information on anything you could ever ask for around the area and amazing tips for getting round etc. I would absolutely recommend this hut to anyone who wants to escape for a few days! Will definitely be returning!

    Nathan2019-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • A cute and idyllic hut perfect for a couples retreat. Small but perfectly sized, you couldn't want more for a weekend away. Stoke the fire under the stars and forget all your worries.

  • A beautiful place to stay with a very caring host :)

    Sam2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival we were greated with lovely views in a quite and peaceful area. The hut has everything you need! There are lots of local tips and places to visit stored under the bed if you are unsure what to do whilst staying at the hut. As well as games too! The hut has a perfect kitchen area with a toaster, kettle and stove and washing up area and a breakfast bar to enjoy any meal. The kitchen comes equipped with all kitchen utensils and appliances too. The hut is situated in a perfect area with a large garden and BBQ, firepit and seating area and even a walking route at the end of the garden leading to Witherdon Woods! Jen and Nick are always on hand if you need to ask any questions. We will definitely be recommending the Shepherds hut to our friends and family and hope to come back soon!

    Emily2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet shepherd car in the midst of great scenery - perfect facilities with barbecue and everything to relax! A full fridge and fresh eggs every day- unbelievable ... we will definately be back and recommend our friends to experience this experience too!

    Philipp2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jenny's place was perfect and much more than we expected. Jenny's attention to detail, card & chocolates left for my boyfriends birthday, were over and above. Everything you needed was in the hut, shampoo, spare toothbrush incase you have forgotten yours. It was such a lovely stay and beautiful memory, thank you so much. We LOVED it!

    Jess2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our Valentines stay at the Shepherds Hut. Was relatively easy to find, we were greeted on arrival by Jenny and her warm personality really made us feel welcome. The hut is surrounded by beautiful English woodland, filled with local wildlife making it seem straight out of a Disney movie. We stayed for one night, which in our opinion is never enough time in a place like this, nonetheless we felt right at home from the minute we got there. The hut was fully decked out for self-catering, with everything we could possibly need! Couldn't recommend enough!
