Vacation rentals in Río Abajo

Ms. Marta is an excellent host. We (me, hubby & 2 cats), just moved here to Puerto Rico from Pennsylvania. We rented this Airbnb because we wanted to look for a place between here and San Juan. Ms. Marta found out that we were looking for a place to buy/rent in the area and offered us an extended stay to continue looking for a place. (Relieved)! The villa we rented was clean, cozy and private. The linen smelled so good. There is a washer/dryer right on the property for your use. The hospitality was amazing. You want for nothing. When we told Ms. Marta we didn't have any internet service, she immediately responded. She spoke to the owner Mr. Juan, and that same day we had internet service. (Loose cable) Chewy is the awesome grounds keeper. If anything is needed, ask him once, and it's done!! He even brought my husband and I fresh coconut water. Gigantic coconut with a hole drilled on top. Yum. Nature, horses, dogs, singing coqui's and a pool! It felt like home. A must stay!!

This was our favorite place out of 3 stays throughout our trip!The place was very clean and open. The grounds and views were beautiful, and the kids loved all of the critters and animals- coquis, birds, horses, etc. There was so much room to run and play, and the pool was a perfect place to lounge! There is an AC unit in the bedroom which kept it cool at night, but it was definitely warm in the living room with no AC, especially when using the gas stove. We knew this when booking, though, as it is clearly stated in the description. We weren’t inside the home much, so it wasn’t much of an issue for us. We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely book this place again when back in PR!

We loved our stay at the Sugar Shack. It was so peaceful and rustic. I appreciate the eco friendly details the owner has put into the place. The unique experience gave us pause for considering how to live more simply. Loved the night time sounds of the coqui and rainfall. Thank you Monica and Rio!

Valerie's tiny houses were the perfect place to stay to continue enjoying the beauty of El Yunque after hiking in the park that day. The facilities are modern and clean, the beds comfortable, and the deck a lovely spot to enjoy the stellar views of the surrounding landscape. Their dogs Cookie and Crema constituted the best welcome committee we could have hoped for, and their cute cat appeared briefly to receive some love, too. The place was easy to navigate to with Google Maps, so it's a good place to stay if you're unfamiliar with the area. Overall, very happy with our stay.

There are no words. This place is beautiful beyond belief. if you have the chance to stay here, don't miss it. sleeping in the rainforest listening to all the wildlife was an experience I'll never forget. And make sure you wake up for the sunrise. Stunning. The hosts were never visible to us but always available and responsive. They have very friendly dogs and cats on the property. One other thing, make sure you check out the trail to the creek. it is behind the house through a gate. You will feel like you are walking somewhere you shouldn't, but it's fine. just be careful on the rocks in the creek. I fell and busted myself up. Overall this is the unique and beautiful place I have ever slept, hands down. Thank you for sharing your paradise with us!!

This suite is perfect if you want a beautiful and cozy home base to explore the area. It's a 10-15 min drive up a curvy mountain road from the main highway, but well worth it. Nancy is the best host ever...she is there to greet you and make sure you are settled. Then she leaves you to your private oasis in the mountains. She is nearby in her house on the property and always reachable by text. But you feel very private and far away from it all. The suite is meticulously clean, and just like the pictures. The kitchenette was perfect for preparing breakfast and coffee to enjoy on the porch overlooking the mountains. I loved starting my day that way! There was a bit of driving involved to go see or do anything - San Juan took a bit over an hour to go explore one day, and the entrance to the Yunque National Forest was a solid 45 min. Everything else was ~30 min. We left late each morning, and came back either after dinner, or brought dinner home or made a small meal there.

We loved our stay at Marta's. The views were amazing and the surroundings were peaceful. I wish we had more time to relax while there and I could see us going back in the future for some quiet R&R. The location was near all the local hotspots and we used it as our base for trips to Vieques & Farajado.

This was the best airbnb stay we have ever had! Nancy and Willie went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, including local recommendations for restaurants and things to do. The location is so peaceful and beautiful and we loved exploring the grounds; we would have loved to stay longer. I'll be recommending this stay to everyone I know!
