Stayed at this property for a little over a month and never had any issues. The apartment is nice and bright during the day and feels like home. It was well stocked and items were thoughtful to a guest. It was convenient to have laundry located in the apartment, as well as the ability to cook for myself with a kitchen stocked with cookware items. Having a private balcony with a higher view of the city was relaxing. The bed and couch were very comfortable and the apartment was spacious. It is in a great and safe location with almost anything you need down the street. The security staff members were kind & personable. The host, Griselda, was great throughout my extended stay. She was easy to contact and was helpful with any needs or questions. I would recommend this property to others and hope to be back next year.

The Birdhouse on the Rio - A South Texas Retreat

For birders, great central location near many State, National and local Parks and iconic wildlife observation sites around Pharr. The Bird House itself has a private pond/small lake with herons, anhingas, kiskadees, hummingbirds, thrushes and hawks. There is a small foot bridge to a sunning/chillin' isle with natural bamboo shade. You can walk or drive right down to the Rio Grande and see waterbirds there as well. The house is very comfortable for up to 3 couples or ten to twelve total and pets if you wish. Security was not an issue at all. Interactions with omnipresent border patrol in the region were very cordial and low-key/nonintrusive. We ate out at several places in McAllen, but BHOTR kitchen seemed well appointed. The house is elegant enough for guests or even a party, with both large entertaining rooms and patios. Feels private/secluded. Lauren, Iannelli and a very capable guy named Lucas solved our only problem at check-in quickly and remotely. Very available folks.

They treated me amazingly! They were really very nice and treated me very well, they picked me up at the airport and gave me recommendations for places. They were attentive to every detail and I was able to arrive on time for my visa appointment. The apartment was very comfortable, everything was spotless. They are definitely people who gave more than I expected. My only complaint is that I didn't feel very safe in the area, however it is very central and there are services, restaurants and a square nearby.

Great place. Was a little concerned about the location at first because of the construction in the freeway area around McAllen but since the construction is now mostly clear, things were very fluid from this location. There was also many restaurants and shopping in the area plus most of our friends and family were close by as well. So, it worked out very well. Great location. Big house. Exactly what we need.
