Family-friendly vacation rentals in Punta Islita

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at this paradise. We saw macaws frequently each day. Also saw deer, monkeys, goats, lots of other birds on the golf course property. The back yard was spectacular. A private oasis. The community was lovely and very safe. Beach restaurant and pickleball were great. Online groups for the community were wonderful. Met some great people. Property manager and owner were super responsive and helpful.

Ohana Villas was the perfect place to stay in Santa Teresa! The property is beautiful, it’s well maintained and clean. The pool and pool area is great! A perfect spot to cool off and relax. The owners are present on the property every day & the nicest people! They would check in on how our stay is going, if we needed anything and just to say hi. We were given clear instructions to access the property, a lengthy list of recommendations for food and some overall information. I would stay here again and recommend them to anyone looking for a place to stay in ST.

We absolutely loved staying here. The house and garden were beautiful, we had everything we needed, and it was private and quiet. It's also very close to the beach and all the restaurants and cafes. The hosts we're very friendly and responsive. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice to stay here 6 nights. Juan was very flexible and responsive, Noelle at the front desk was always helpful and friendly and the maintenance man came and fixed something that we found broken within 10 minutes. The place feels like you’re in your own private sanctuary yet is located at the top of a road that leads down directly into the alley everyone uses to walk onto the beach. There are lots of restaurants and shops just at the bottom of the road too. A local market about 500 meters away carries everything you could need. This is as good overall as AirBnB’s get so I highly recommend staying. Two things to note are that you will need something with 4x4 drive to get up/down the driveway and if you are particular about pillows I would recommend you to bring your own as the ones here are pretty flat. That being said, the bed is large and comfy and the entire layout is very romantic. Thank you Juan to you and your crew! Thanks Noelle!

We absolutely loved our time at Mariposa cottage. The terrace view was amazing and we enjoyed the visitors we had while enjoying our morning coffee. Iguanas, birds, squirrels, and the sound of howler monkeys and cicadas. The cottage has tons of character and artistic flair and the outdoor shower was fantastic! Peter was a great host. Highly recommend Mariposa if you’re looking for something unique with a fabulous view of the ocean in a jungle like setting.

We had a wonderful stay at Pia’s place. Her parents, Gabby and Federico, were great hosts and responsive to all requests. We stayed for 3 months and got to know the area, many of the neighbors, neighborhood dogs, and establishments in Carrillo. The place is in a very convenient location. It’s a walkable distance to everything in Carrillo y la playa. The adjacent forest is typically filled with howler monkeys, iguanas, and a diversity of birds. The house and pool were great. They needed regular maintenance as everything does in this environment, but the owners were typically right on it. Recommended accommodation.

This was a great place where we felt so lucky to have landed! The Villas are off the beaten path but still so close to everything in Samara town. We were thankful to be able to walk to and from the beach without having to spend much time on the busy town roads. The property is wonderfully maintained with beautiful landscaping. Our rental was furthest from the road and wonderfully private and quiet. We were delighted to be treated to so much space both inside and out. It included a large private covered patio with comfy furniture and a large dining table. Inside, the beds were all comfortable, the shower had plenty of pressure and warm water, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and clean up meals and there were 3 AC units that made our stay there totally comfortable.

We (family with 2 children , 6 & 3 years old) felt very comfortable on the Fidelito Ranch. The kids enjoyed playing in the garden, feeding and showering the dogs, as well as the great horseback ride with Leon. We greatly appreciated the quiet location, but were also able to get to the larger cities quickly.

Planned on staying for only one night but then got there and fell in love with the place. Very comforting and accommodating along with feeling very safe. Hidden gem for sure! The atmosphere is very welcoming and very grateful to have found this place. Wish we could have stayed longer…all the way from O-H……I-O.

Pura vida at its max. Pure relaxation, comfort, safety. Zeidy’s food absolute perfection, the kids kept saying it wasn’t even real, calling it dream food. Pool is bigger than what the pictures show, beach wonderful, restaurant down the road a neat little touch for a dinner. We got horses and massages right at the house. The team is fantastic and Jose was wonderful to line it all up. Our private driver that Jose arranged was just wonderful and accommodating to any needs. We would give 10 stars if we could, just like other reviews. Stay here. Or don’t, which will clear up more space in the calendar for us to come back :) :)

The studio by the sea is wonderful, serene and beautiful. It's steps from the beach, surrounded by lush nature and very comfortable. The space has all the amenities needed to enjoy your stay, well appointed kitchen, bath, linens, beach towel. It's clean and tranquil. Heike and Hans are super friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area & Costa Rica in general. They were so kind to accomdate our dogs, give them treats, water and lots of love. When we return to Coyote, we will definitley visit with them again.

We loved our stay at the cottage on the beach. We loved the area and it was an easy walk to downtown Samara (if the tide is not high). I highly recommend at night walking the beach and seeing the hermit crabs in action. We found the area quiet and peaceful. We highly recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this beautiful home. Jackie was so amazing. Incredibly responsive and super helpful. This was our 3rd trip to CR. We will be back. Pura Vida ❤️🇨🇷

Everything about our stay here was a dream, I didn’t want to leave! This place is a little piece of paradise and is so much more than we expected. The place was so clean, the water pressure in the shower was amazing, the property was spectacular! We loved taking a dip in the pool each evening and hearing the howler monkeys each morning, the different birds and other wildlife! Michele is an amazing host - always looking out for his guests and providing advice and recommendations based on our daily plans each time we ran into him - he truly cares about his guests and wants your stay to be as perfect as you do. He let us check in early when we arrived in Montezuma, he also recommended we check out late as he had no guests coming the day we left. I cannot say anything bad about this place!

We had the best time at Villa Makai! Josefina was amazing to work with and was super responsive and helpful with local recommendations and helping us secure an ATV for our arrival. The house was unreal, with ocean views and open concept. Amazing appliances and grill, making it easy to feel at home!!! The beds were unreal comfortable and the cleaning service daily was such a nice touch to keep it feeling fresh!!! we loved the location of this spot as well, in the heart of town, but just far enough up the road so that you could escape the craziness. We love ST! Thanks again :)

Everything is excellent. The house is beautiful and super close to downtown Montezuma. The street is a bit neglected, but it's something outside the house. If they improved the street it would be amazing, since you need a 4x4 or a good car to get in.

Fantastic host! Communication was great and helpful. Great location! On the beach, private and tranquil setting. We love the pool and the grounds. It’s right on the trial to Playa Granda for surfing. You cant go wrong staying here. Kicking back In a hammock with a cold beverage and listening to the ocean is the perfect ending to a day of playing at the beach.

We had a lovely stay at the House of G. Favourite things about this place were the views of the ocean, the mix of fruit trees, hearing howler monkeys, bird watching (and listening), and the modern architecture. Air conditioning was only on the upper floor bedrooms, so the upper bathrm was hot and the lower level got pretty hot too. The ceiling fans helped and so did the breeze. On the plus side, it forced us to use the outdoor living space more than we probably would have if the lower level had a/c and the pool/outdoor shower offered a quick refresher when needed. The place required a key transfer from super friendly Luis. It would have been easier and more private if there was a lock box setup, but then we wouldn’t have met Luis, so key swapped worked out just fine. We found it easier to make the quick drive to Samara than walk, to avoid walking on the narrow main road. It was easy to find on street parking in Samara. Thank you Shannon for hosting & Luis for managing the property!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Villa Santa Terese with the convenience of the beach and local Rocamar restaurant when we didn't fell like cooking or wanted a cold smoothie after surfing! The Villa was super clean and had basic kitchen supplies. While the walk to town wasn't bad, we typically drove as we were always coming and going through town. The pool made for a nice repose from the saltwater beach. Would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at this property: we loved relaxing on the large terraced area, watching local wildlife: birds, squirrels, monkeys. The pool area was ideal for cooling down in the afternoons. The beach is within a short walking distance, as is a supermarket and other eateries. The house was well stocked with kitchen supplies and additional towels, and the aircon in both bedrooms was a relief at night. Beds and linens were extremely comfy - we all slept incredibly well on this leg of our trip. The host was very responsive both before and during our stay. Overall, a very relaxing few days in the middle of a busy trip around Costa Rica! We would return again in a heartbeat.

Staying at Rancho De Linda was an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the lush Costa Rican jungle on the beach, it offers the perfect blend of natural charm to fully immerse yourself in the local ecosystem. The property is surrounded by vibrant wildlife — from colorful frogs, friendly iguanas, beautiful butterfly’s, hermit crabs and chirping birds. The views are breathtaking and the sounds of the ocean are mesmerizing — making it a true ecological retreat. Douglas and Irena were delightful hosts. We enjoyed visits from their sweet pup Bambi and loved the availability of the housekeeper. The place is very clean and well taken care of. We loved our Yoga class Irena taught under the palapa and enjoyed the delicious cooking of two local chefs. We drove into Tamarindo for the day and visited the Diamanté Eco Adventure Park for a thrilling zip line. Good communication with the host. Good beds that do creak a bit if you move a lot. Close to a soda and supermarket.
