Prakash bhai was there when our flight was hours late and we arrived post midnight. He did complain a bit, but that's his pahadi sense of humour. Never said no to any requests/demands. He offered us snacks+coffee+rum, and did not charge a single penny more, even though all of it was out of his meal plan. And he suggested us hikes/treks around Gurdum. This is where Chandan bhai comes in. The man not only cooked for us, but was also our guide on a short but thrilling hike to Dumbarkhola falls. Amenities - Basic. Clean room, delicious food. If you're a yak/pork lover, ask for it. 3 meals, 2 tea+snacks per day is offered at ₹600. Come here, rediscover yourself.

Had the most amazing time at Norbu Gokyil in Darjeeling! The place is super peaceful, tucked away just enough from the town to feel calm but still close enough to everything. The best part though was the lovely family hosting us — all four of them were so kind, welcoming, and genuinely sweet. You really feel like you’re staying with friends rather than just renting a place. They were always happy to help, whether it was with local tips or just chatting over tea. And their three adorable dogs made the stay even better — super friendly and so cute! The room was clean, cozy, and perfect to come back to after a day of exploring. The food was also really good and homely — just what you’d want in a place like this. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful, heartwarming stay in Darjeeling. Already missing it!

Despite the chaos and traffic on the roads of Darjeeling, this place offers a sense of peace that feels just like home. It has everything you’d expect from a good homestay. The property is located slightly downhill from the main road, so reaching it by car can be a bit tricky, but it’s worth it. The view from the rooftop is truly amazing and adds to the overall charm. An ever changing canvas of mist kissed hills and tranquil landscapes. Every moment spent there was nothing short of magical, making it a stay to remember. We had an amazing 4-night stay at SHAIL-AALAY. The surroundings were incredibly peaceful, with no noise just the calmness of nature and a beautiful view from the balcony. It truly felt like a retreat away from the chaos of city life. A special mention to Uncle Pimba, who was always so responsive, warm, and helpful throughout our stay. His hospitality really made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature.

The property is located in the mid of a tea garden. Beautiful place. Perfect for spending some time in the midst of lush green scenic beauty. On top of it Rebika is an awesome host. She took care of us very well. Approaching road is not perfect. But it's worth the trouble once you reach the place.

This place was truly beautiful. The room was exactly same as it was described rather better than how it was described. Truly very good hospitality. Ramita was very responsive all the times. She has arranged for what we've asked for. Good homely food. Ganga and the other girl was a very sweet girl and very responsive too. Lastly when we were leaving, Ramita came with us to the car to say good bye. See I know you'll get lots of Homestays with a cheeper price. But if you prefer quality time and good hospitality in a heritage bunglow then this is the place. They have so many dogs also they are friendly too. So if you are a dog lover then definitely go for it.

The place was absolutely magical! The house was super cozy and good for a group stay. Prayag is an absolutely wonderful host and helps to take care of everything. The view from the place is beautiful , rooms are cozy and clean. Overall - good stay and Would definitely like to come back here :)
