A more than 130-year-old log cabin in the cultural heritage landscape of Suvanto takes its residents on a time journey to a 19th-century Ostrobothnian village. The destination is best suited for lovers of Lapland's nature, history and silence, who are not afraid of the dark in winter or mosquitoes in summer. Please note: there is no public transportation to the village, no toilet in the main building, nor a shower. There is a separate sauna building outside and a traditional outhouse behind the sauna.

Nice apartment and meeting with happy reindeer

The apartment is renovated in the year 2017 and it is a part of the bigger building. It is located 400 meters from our home ( and the lake), 18 km from Inari (nearest grocery and restaurants) and 350 km from Rovaniemi. In the apartment you will find all normal facilities and sauna. This is a good place to see Northern Lights and beautiful nature is around you here. If you are interested to see how people really live in Lappland, but you also appreciate your own peace, this place is for you.

The cabin lies on an island, the last part needs to be walked over the ice (safe from mid-December till April) or rowed with our small rowing boat (included). Less than 20 minutes to Saariselkä skiing slopes and other services by car, 10-minute walk to Urho Kekkonen National Park.

Located in a quiet outdoor area! Use of the private sauna is possible between 4 pm and 8 pm. Cost: 20 euros in cash or MobilePay per sauna session! Bath towels are ready in the sauna, you would have to bring your own shower shampoo! Report 2 hours in advance so I can prepare the sauna. Thanks!

We spent 2 nights in Sanna's house and everything was perfect. Before you even arrived, communication with Sanna was very quick and easy. Her house is very nice, very well decorated and filled with little touches. The sauna is a real plus. This is the first time I've stayed with someone else and felt so good there. There are people who have a sense of service and Sanna is definitely one of them. I can only recommend, everything was just perfect.

We truly enjoyed our 4 day stay in this cabin. A place to calm down and enjoy the little things. A good homemade cooked meal, exploring nature and spending time offline with people who matter to you. The most adventurous part for us was crossing the lake. We knew the ice was at least 40cm deep but the sun had melted the first few layers, creating little puddles and slush like ice. For somebody who is not experienced in crossing frozen lakes, it was definitely a thrill for us. But it was worth it, we saw reindeers, northern lights and plenty of different birds on the island which we had to ourselves. The sauna was a wonderful place to really warm up daily and relax. We hope to return one day back to this beautiful cabin! Maybe in the summer, next time 😊

We had the most amazing time! This place is truly magical—so calm and relaxing. It offers great privacy while still feeling safe, as there are other houses nearby (so you’re not completely alone in the woods). One of my favorite things was simply looking out the windows at the breathtaking view of snow-covered trees—so idyllic! A highlight of our stay was being able to see the northern lights, both from inside and outside the house. The cottage itself felt like home—warm and cozy with the fireplace, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Taija was incredibly kind and provided us with great recommendations for the area. We absolutely loved our time here and would come back in a heartbeat!

There were two of us for 12 nights in Lokka. The place is exactly as Markku described it. Super nice, quiet location and a direct view of the lake. You can go for a walk nearby. For the day trips, however, you have to drive relatively far, but the shopping facilities are easily accessible by car and can be easily combined with the excursions. Markku was always friendly, easy to reach and had many good tips for the area. Check-in and check-out are very quick and easy. The cottage is super well equipped, especially as far as the kitchen is concerned, everything you need for cooking or baking is there. The sauna and the stove are of course a highlight. Everything is very well explained in a folder. Mikko takes care of things on site if necessary, he was also very friendly and quick to arrive when we had problems with the door lock. Overall, we felt very comfortable and were happy to come back!

The place was really clean, cozy, and a different experience. Hanna was really nice and friendly. To top it off, we had so much fun feeding reindeers and get to know the Finnish life. Hanna provided us with fresh eggs from her hens too! Love the place and atmosphere. Great for someone looking for a cabin life experience. We would give 6 stars if we could!
