Harray's Little Bothy

ClareRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The bothy was perfect and we’ve had the best week. It had everything we needed and was cosy but well equipped with enough space to cook and hang out. We felt right at home and appreciated the personal touches like the Orkney chair and the well stocked bookshelf. The bothy is in the most stunning location and is in a fabulous position for exploring Orkney. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

North Walls Kirk

JessiRating, 5 stars6 months ago
A one-of-a-kind stay in an unparalleled location! We so enjoyed reading about the history of the kirk and its caretakers over the years; the island of Hoy is rich with hikes, views, museums, fresh air, and peaceful interludes. Worth the ferry trips to stay here! (Just be advised that if you’re coming at or after the end of September, or arriving on a Sunday, you’d do well to get groceries on the main island ahead of your visit bc there will be few to no options for food service on Hoy. We did and were so grateful we had!)

Brough farm

RuthRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Melanie’s house was a really lovely place to stay . It was cosy and clean and well decorated . She had left a thoughtful welcome pack of bread and milk. The location was great with Highland coos as neighbours and a beach right in front of the house . We found loads of Groatie Buckies there ! Easy to find and easy to get to other parts of Orkney . 10 minutes from the St Margaret’s Hope ferry . I would definitely recommend this house !
A comfortable living area features a dark sofa and a wooden coffee table at its center. A large television is mounted on the wall, complemented by a decorative fireplace. Light is provided by a stylish lamp, and a vibrant area rug adds warmth to the space.

Cosy cottage with stunning views - Island of Hoy

JamesRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Linda’s Place is a lovely former family home in a stunning position on the sea front at Longhope on the island of Hoy. It’s a family home with a very comfy, if somewhat old-fashioned vibe. Don’t expect 5 star accommodation but do expect a warm home well supplied with kitchen equipment and welcoming shortbread (very yummy) and fresh milk in the fridge. There are two boxes of toy,s /games for children of all ages plus a large DVD film collection for showing on the TV , Linda supplies bedding and towels. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. For a rural property the water supply water supply is fab but a tip is to stagger bath/shower times as the hot water sometime can run cool if excessive demand is placed on it. There is a garden with a washing line over the road from the cottage. The next door neighbour is a brilliant neighbour and all locals we met were friendly and very helpful. We two stayed in the first week of August 24 finding the village shop to have comprehensive supply.
A gray cottage is situated within a spacious, well-maintained garden. Lush green grass surrounds the building, and a tree stands nearby. The structure features a simple design, with multiple windows allowing natural light. A wooden fence outlines the garden area.

Verracott - island bolt hole

DavidRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Our first visit to North Ronaldsay. Verracott was a great location, being in the middle of the island, so perfect for exploring. The croft is on its own down a private lane, with North Manse to the north (a field away) and Purtabrek to the south (2 fields away). The cottage was exactly as described, cosy with the fire (or 2) burning in the evenings. Plenty of hot water so the bath was well used! We ordered our provisions from the Bird Observatory and had lunch there several times. We enjoyed feeding our scraps to the chickens! If you fancy getting away from it all, this is the place to come. Loved it. Helga was very responsive and helpful, and it was really lovely to meet her, and her family.
The exterior of a traditional stone building is showcased, featuring a symmetrical façade with large windows framed by flower boxes. A solid wooden door is centrally located, supported by a sloped roofline. The entrance is bordered by well-maintained surroundings along a quiet street.

St Clair House, Orkney

JamesRating, 5 stars9 months ago
St Clair house in St Margaret’s hope is an absolutely splendid place to be. The secluded and sheltered back garden with outside seating and fire pit is something I plan to make at my own house following our time at Shona’s beautiful house. We are a family of 6, with four boys from 9-14. We all loved it.

Furso - traditional country cottage for 6 guests

EmilyRating, 5 stars8 months ago
We visited Orkney as a group with varied interests, from wildlife to archeology and Furso was the perfect base to explore it all. Cosy and quirky, a perfect space to get away from everyone and yet have the heart of Neolithic Orkney a short drive away, not to mention Hen Harriers and Short-eared Owls passing by. The box beds were a definite highlight, one of our group now wants one at home!

miry park farm byre

CarolynRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Jans Tin tent is ideally located just a few miles from the ferry.. Beautiful location. Ideal base for exploring the island. The caravan is well equipped, clean comfortable and warm..Jan was welcoming and explained instructions needed for using the van. She was quick to respond and helpful with difficulties we had. It was an added bonus and well appreciated luxury having the hot tub. Excellent value for money. The farm animals were a joy to see, and there are seals in the bay close on Jans farm..Jan and her husband are developing the camping, they run a beautiful farm and work very hard. My dog was welcome. Very good experience. We would stay again if we return to Sanday.

New: Cantick Head Lighthouse Cottage

MeredithRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I'm finding it difficult to put into words what being a guest at Cantick Head was like. Magical, inspiring, cozy, peaceful, safe. The cottage is beyond charming. It was tastefully decorated with little bits of history scattered about. It was absolutely spotless clean with comfortable beds and linens that smelled heavenly especially after a day of hiking the nearby trails. A nature and animal lovers paradise. Alan and his family go above and beyond to ensure you are happy. I found the experience to be quite moving and was saddened to leave. Alan is an example of what an outstanding Airbnb operator is and Cantick Head is a top notch accommodation. The price was very reasonable for the experience of being at Cantick Head. Overall, 11 out 10!

Miry park croft beachcomber

FilipRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had an excellent time at Miry Park. Our daughter was delighted to see all the animals and play on beaches. Jan and her husband were great to show us around, give advice or help out if needed. The tin tent was spotless clean and warm even in early April.
