Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Orkney

A lovely place. Not quite the romance of the older parts of Stromness, but it has a great view, is well-appointed, and has easy parking. It’s easy to get down to the shops in Stromness and easily equally to get driving out of the town. Definitely would return.

This was the most welcoming AirBnB I’ve ever stayed at. David was very responsive and helpful. The cottage was absolutely lovely (if you are tall be warned the doors are short), and it’s right downtown and across from the Ferry. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I cannot recommend it enough!

We absolutely loved out stay at Peedie Cott. It was one of the cutest most spotlessly clean, thoughtful Airbnbs we've ever stayed in. From the start, Cathy's instructions made it very easy to access the property. We arrived into a beautifully decorated, super cosy and comfortable little haven, which was in the centre of the small village of St. Margaret's Hope making it very easy to get around. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed and Cathy left great instructions on how everything worked (heating, wifi etc.). The whole place was immaculate. Lovely touches included the wood burning stove and the lovely little hamper and fresh milk Cathy left us. She had left lots of amenities in the bathroom in case we'd forgotten anything which was just so kind, she'd really gone the extra mile. We felt it was a very special stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return, I hope we can. If you've booked this property you're in for a treat and if you're thinking about it, just do it!

A one-of-a-kind stay in an unparalleled location! We so enjoyed reading about the history of the kirk and its caretakers over the years; the island of Hoy is rich with hikes, views, museums, fresh air, and peaceful interludes. Worth the ferry trips to stay here! (Just be advised that if you’re coming at or after the end of September, or arriving on a Sunday, you’d do well to get groceries on the main island ahead of your visit bc there will be few to no options for food service on Hoy. We did and were so grateful we had!)

Our week on Orkney Island wouldn’t be so great without that place. As we came with children one 3 mo, it’s perfect and it feels like home. Close to the town center and shops etc. Also a good spot if you want to drive and see most important sites on the Island. Clean and cozy. Highly recommended.

The house was spacious, really well stocked and in a great location. Lizzy communicated really well and made the whole stay very easy We had a fantastic two weeks there. The garden is a good size but for anyone bringing pets it is not secure.

The Barn is a lovely holiday home. Peaceful and in beautiful surroundings yet not far from Kirkwall and all the amenities you may need. The location is perfect for exploring the Orkney mainland and further. The Barn provides everything you need for a relaxing and cosy stay whatever the time of year. Clean, comfortable and warm. The laundry facilities came in handy. We were particularly happy to see the hen harriers and a short eared owl hunting in the fields out back of the cottage. Thank you to Robert and Janis for being 'super hosts'.

Evelina was very approachable and accommodating. The flat was a perfect, cosy wee base for me and my dog :) I hope to be back.

We had a wonderful family holiday at Scarva. Elaine has thought of everything. The apartment is cosy, comfortable, and quiet - a perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring. Better than the images (if that's possible). A real home from home. We would love to return. Thank you!

The flat is a little gem with lots of little added things to make it pretty: pictures, photos, nice curtains etc. When we arrived the electric fire and classic FM were on. A special touch. Super quiet. The view is amazing and it is only 10 minutes walk to Stromness. Super easy to access by car and then travel into the island. Highly recommend.
