House vacation rentals in North Shore

We had a great time staying at SML! This house was the perfect location and had access to all the outdoor amenities we could hope for. Majority of our time was in the pool, which was walkable and the beach area of the lake which for us was a quick few minutes drive. The lake itself is walkable, but with a toddler and floats, it was easier to drive and park at the beach area itself. Overall, we would recommend staying and plan to return.

Our stay was great! The house was as described and looked like the photos. It's close to the amenities and was exactly what we were looking for. I Would highly recommend staying here and I would do so again.

This is our family’s third stay here, so obviously we enjoy this beautiful property! The home is well stocked, spacious, family friendly, and very welcoming. As a bonus, this was our first stay during pool weather, so we were able to utilize the beautiful pool/hot tub area. Bedford is a lovely location. Quaint small town but close to lots of recreation.

Brookwood was an awesome place to host our family of 12 (7 adults, 5 children) for a week long stay. There is enough space to spread out and do different things as well as a huge kitchen table to eat at and hang out and play cards at the end of the night. The house is eclectic and has so many points of interest. The pool and the creek were highlights for us. I think the boys fished almost every day, and all of us used the pool for hours on end. There was ample space for yard games and a fire for making smores. Parking was easy and spacious. Another plus is the proximity to Roanoke, which has grocery stores, restaurants and fishing spots. We found the kitchen to be stocked with most every amenity that we needed. I believe we cooked full meals 4 of the seven nights we were there. The scent free requirement was not an issue at all. Plenty of dish soap, hand soap and shampoo for all of us.

Our family had a great time at Joseph’s place! The home is in a quiet cove and we enjoyed endless fishing and jumping off the dock! The home has many childproof features which would be great for families with little ones. Thanks again!

We had a great trip and it had everything we needed for a family of four and four-legged! Plenty of space and everything was clean and ready for us! Convenient location to the bridgewater location (boat rentals, restaurants, gift shops and putt putt) as well as to lake access and grocery stores. Thanks for a great stay!

Such a cozy home with an amazing view. We enjoyed our stay so much for our honeymoon. Having coffee outdoors listening to the birds and seeing wildlife in the early morning hours was a favorite and fireflies in the evening. Abigail responded to messages quickly. The cottage is reasonably located to many outdoor activities like a visit to the Natural Bridge State Park, cycling at High Bridge Park, D-Day Museum, hiking up Sharp Top Mountain just to name a few. We enjoyed afternoon stops for homemade ice cream fresh fruit and vegetables at the Mountain Fruit and Produce store on Peaks Road after our daily adventures. You must visit Bella Italia Restaurant for authentic Italian cuisine. Abigail’s cottage and Bedford was a breath of fresh air and we’d recommend to all family and friends who are looking to visit. ❤️

One of the best family vacations we’ve ever had! The house was the perfect blend of comfort and charm—so relaxing that we only left by car twice all week. There was plenty to do for our kids and dogs, and the property was incredibly dog-friendly, which made the whole experience even better. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the beautiful front porch, soaking in the peace and quiet. It truly felt like the definition of relaxation. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with family in a gorgeous setting.

The Brenda Property is a majestic lake house right on SML. The pictures do not do the property justice as the sunsets on the lake use every pigment of color in a painters toolkit. The property was easily accessible and the host Ronald was more than accommodating for the special needs of our group and any last minute changes. The property was beautifully maintained and provided all of the necessities of a fully stocked home. The home was very clean and well prepared for our arrival. Instructions from the host were very clear as they had both a digital and physical copy of the guestbook. My family and guests concluded that we are going to make this an annual trip! The dock was perfect for lounging and access for our party’s boat rental along with a load of lake toys and floats. I look forward to future trips to the Brenda as it will create long lasting memories for my family. Thank you Ronald!

Lake Seclusion was a peaceful, wonderful vacation place for our family gathering. The house was beautiful, comfortable and has an amazing view of the Roanoke river. We loved the privacy on this property and the use of the dock. Our adult children and grandchildren paddled for hours in the kayaks and paddle boards and our boat fit perfectly on the extended dock. Thank you Rachael for answering our questions and helping us with speed and professionalism before and during our stay.

A perfect place to reunite with family. Come prepared to hike, rest, eat, and relax. The property and home were so much nicer than pictures can show. Perfect great room for conversation while admiring the beautiful mountains and valley. Comfy beds. High end kitchen perfect for cooking together as a family. Jeff and Allie were great at communication and about attention to detail. We all said we’d like to return.

Above and beyond expectations. I have stayed in many rentals in the past and this place is by far one of the cleanest I have been in. The bed linens were high quality with comfortable mattresses, the bathrooms and kitchen were very clean and well stocked. You could not beat having the lake right there and the powered covered boat slip was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

A great place to stay for our family, we were in town for a wedding. Everything felt very clean. We enjoyed playing centipede on the arcade machine and the fire pit on the back deck at night. Highly recommend Kyle’s Place!

We absolutely loved staying at Glad Acres!! The home is beautiful and located in such a serene and peaceful location while remaining relatively close to area attractions. We were in town for a graduation at Liberty University and it was the perfect end to a busy day on campus. The kitchen and pretty much the entire house was one of the most well stocked that I’ve experienced at an Air BnB and literally had everything we needed and more!! Although the interior was slightly dated, we fell in love with the ample space and layout of the home and would definitely book again if we are ever in the area again. It would be a wonderful place to host a family reunion although obviously not everyone could stay there as there is a 6 person limit. Kay was superb with communication and check out was so simple and easy. Thanks a bunch for a wonderful a stay!!

Rachel and Chad were very responsive from the moment I reserved their beautiful home on the lake, until the day we departed. The house is beautiful and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

What a beautiful place Ben has! We absolutely loved our stay there! There was everything we could possibly need! Enjoyed the mornings on the deck especially! And when there was one little thing missing, Ben went out of his way to remedy that! Thank you it was a beautiful way to spend our daughter’s graduation from college!

More than exceeded our expectations! Even more beautiful than the pictures! We wish we had found this place when our first of 3 went to Liberty University, rather than for the graduation of our youngest. Our stay was too short to fully enjoy all the fun things to do ie on the lake and campfire. We felt like we could spread out with the four different patios/ porches, yet we could all come together and spend time in the extra large family room. Great place to walk - absolutely gorgeous! This place is amazing!!

A hidden gem to relax in the mountains and surrounded by deer making it a dream place to stay. 10/10!

We had a ball at Melissa’s place. Really took advantage of paddle boards and kayaks and enjoyed swimming around the dock. The house, located close to the Bridgewater Marina, is also off to the side of the lake (felt out of the way of all the traffic). The house had everything we needed. Kroger was close by. My adult kids and grands had such a good time!!! Highly recommend!

The house was super cute. The houses around seem like they are in need of updating but Brittney’s tiny house was very cosy! The decor made me feel like I was right at home. Brittney was also very helpful when my plans changed and needed earlier check in. Thank you so much!!!
