House vacation rentals in Franklin County

The condo was clean and modern. There was everything you could imagine you would need. Every switch is labeled. The towels were the best part. They were of high quality. And plenty of them. The HVAC was great. The condo felt like home from the moment we stepped inside. The only issue was communication about the code. They do not communicate over Airbnb. They will give this only to your email, which I did not know. You need to insure you have all of the info you need at least a day or two before you go.

What a blast! This is the second time I've facilitated a group trip to Kristie's place for a weekend of pickleball, food, and laughter. I'm already planning the next one! The house and other buildings are well-equipped and well-kept and provided everything we needed to fully enjoy our time together, including a gorgeous view of the lake from the dining table we gathered around. Absolutely recommend.

The views from this home are breathtaking! It had everything we needed to feel comfortable and was close to grocery stores and restaurants. It was great that the two bedrooms upstairs were nearly identical so that our two kids did not fight over their rooms. The ping pong table and hot tub were also a big hit with the kids. James was the perfect host and very responsive!

We needed two things for this stay… 1. To be close to the house we are building, and 2. A solid internet connection. We were a 4 minute drive from our new house and the internet was rock solid for the whole month.

Had a wonderful time with the family, Tammy was a great host! Very responsive and communicative. Definitely a better fit for older kids (the hills 🤣), but Tammy had ALL the essentials for babies to be accommodated and right at home! And the littles loved fishing too. It was an excellent spring break for us!

I was extremely impressed with Sarah's rental. You could tell she put so much thought into it. There were so many little extra touches not even in the listing. It was incredible. The view from the balcony was unbelievable. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck. We rented a boat and it was very convenient to dock it right outside their place. We also fished off the dock. Sarah was excellent to communicate with as well. She was very quick to respond with anything I messaged. I highly recommend this rental!

Our family really enjoyed this peaceful retreat! The home is beautifully maintained, with comfortable and cozy accommodations. The check-in/check-out process was a breeze, and Caryn is a wonderful host. Highly recommend a visit here!

Alisha and april were great everything was so nice they kept me informed on the issue that we did have and they fixed it very quickly and even gave us a little gift card for our troubles they have everything stocked which was nice to not have to bring pots and pans i would stay again I don't have any complaints

We can't say enough wonderful things about this property or the hosts. Our hosts were extremely responsive and every last detail was taken care of. The house is very well set up with pantry staples, a fully equipped kitchen, and spotless rooms. There were even games and toys for kids (and adults!). The location is beautiful; we couldn't have asked for more!

This cabin is truly a hidden gem! Nestled on a mountainside at the end of a private, scenic driveway, it offers a peaceful retreat with breathtaking views of distant mountain ridges. The cabin is incredibly pet-friendly and our dog loved exploring the forest, following deer tracks, and hiking up to the ridgeline behind the cabin. The cleanliness of the home was exceptional—everything was spotless, and it felt like we were the very first guests to ever stay there. We appreciated the tasteful decor, clutter-free atmosphere, and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals, which made cooking after a long day of hiking a breeze. On the days we were too tired to cook, we were delighted to find shops and restaurants just a short drive away. Bryan, our host, was fantastic—quick to respond and always available if we had any questions. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

This home and host exceeded all expectations! It is such a “useable” spacious home—we cooked most every night and found the kitchen so well-stocked (with generous snacks and coffee & supplies as well). The large dining table handled our meals AND our board games (house has several). The many windows in living spaces & bedrooms revealed gorgeous views of the pretty lake—sunrises and sunsets were inspirational—and we could easily take walks around the neighborhood for more lake views. Beds and linens & towels were cozy and home was super-duper clean. So many beds! And THREE bathrooms was an amazing bonus to our group of 5 adults. So easy to gather in the living room with two couches complete with chaise features AND two footstools—so relaxing! The island in kitchen was great for spreading out our meals buffet-style. The house stayed cozy & warm during the chilly November weather. Large Closets and dressers abound. Kurt has labeled everything & has supplied about anything you might need!

Great location and beautiful views of the lake. During the day we took advantage of the boat house/dock and in the evenings we relaxed outside by the fire pit. The house was very roomy with several places to entertain and relax. The property was close to several bars/restaurants and a grocery store. would highly recommend this property for a family vacation

Great little place!

Amazing place. Very secluded, quiet, and peaceful with lots of wild life you can watch from the large windows. Very clean and furnished. This is an amazing place.

Jim’s farmhouse was a cozy, serene, and luxury home away from home. The property and home were amazing. It was clean and high quality. All of the details you could want thought of. The horses were friendly. I wished I could stay for another week (year?) and just read books from the house on one of the porches or in front of a fireplace or fire pit. Our family will definitely be returning!! Thanks again, Jim! :)

The Cottage in the Pines was extremely clean and well-appointed. It was exactly what we needed for accommodations for a family wedding in Rocky Mount. Downtown is just a few minutes up the road. Although the train is quite close, it was fun to sit on the porch and watch it go by. It only came 2x a day, so it wasn't an issue with noise at all. It was very peaceful to sit and enjoy the outdoors in the rockers or picnic tables. We saw several deer and lots of birds in the beautiful trees. It was a bit tricky to find, but Joseph's directions were perfect. Joseph communicated often and clearly, which made our stay even more pleasant. I would definitely recommend the cottage for a getaway in beautiful Rocky Mount, VA.

If you’re wanting a place to either be alone and unplugged or with your family, this is a great option.

We stayed at The Frances home July 6th thru July 13th, 2024. The house is so much nicer in person, the pictures just don't it justice. The beds were fine, the kitchen is well stocked and the place was very clean. Tons of room on the lower level to spread out and enjoy the pool table and ping pong. The lot is sloped but not too steep and they have a very nice, concrete walkway. The owners allow use of their kayaks, canoe and tiki hut on the dock. The hot tub on the lower deck was a great way to relax and enjoy the lake view. The house is in a no wake cove and just across the water from Jake's Place. Super close to the SML bridge and Bridgewater marina. Jake's has a restaurant, camper park and beach area with a slide. They do provide internet although we struggled many times with the connections, just power cycled their router and it was back up and running. T-mobile is the provider, I believe. The one major negative is no trash service, not even trash cans. Gotta fix that...

The house and accommodations were everything that were advertised. Lon was easy to communicate with and very responsive to questions. The lake was beautiful and the other boaters were friendly. The close restaurants were a lot of fun and added to the vacationing atmosphere! We will definitely return!

What else can we say about Fotheringay? It has been our "home" for ALL of the Virginia Tech football weekends for the past 3 years. We even made it a point to hold a "family thanksgiving dinner" at the house last Friday before the VT vs. UVA football game. The peaceful setting, and the mountains every, fall have been wonderful! Dabney, the owner, and George the onsite host have been out of this world with communication and generous hosting. George has continued to make small improvements to the house in the form of a firepit, zero gravity chairs for star gazing or taking in the fall colors, an outdoor table near the grill to sit and enjoy lunch on nice days, and some of the most comfortable mattresses and sheets we have ever used. George is easy to find, but he is NEVER intrusive, so respectful of your time and ensuring that you enjoy the time. If you like early American history, stay at Fotheringay, and spend time looking at the items in every room. What you find will amaze!
