The Box House

The Box House is one of the most amazing Air BnB’s I’ve ever stayed in. In terms of design it is a unique house and the pictures capture the scale perfectly. The villa has full staffing led by the lovely Dhilan who is a great chef, concierge, butler all rolled into one. His Sri Lankan dhal, omelette, and moju are perfection! This was an RnR break for the family and Box House ticked all the boxes. The pool is HUGE and the ground lovely. Everything was on hand for us to unwind and switch off for a few days. Kasun handled all pre booking comms promptly and was very helpful. Three of the five bedrooms have their own entrance so this makes the property perfect for larger groups. I have a couple of suggestions for the hosts to elevate Box House even further. If air conditioning can be added to the main room it can increase its usability and families can have a central space to come together. Second, a small menu stating Dhilan’s specialities in Sri Lankan cuisine will be very helpful.

Beautiful house, well maintained. Everything worked and kitchen well kitted out. The caretaker of the house was very attentive and could be paid to take you out on a boat ride around the lake or pop to the shops in his tuk tuk. You can organise to have a meal cooked for you this is a nice experience. We had a peaceful two nights in the lake house.

Beautiful Air BnB with very good facilities, the plunge pool is amazing, you are hidden away and surrounded by greenery. Very nice room with good air conditioning. Shower is nice doesn’t get very hot but is nice enough and looks beautiful. A couple of creepy crawlies but that is to be expected. Breakfast is freshly made and changes each day which is nice. Would 100% recommend and would go back if we were in the areas again as it was one of our favourite stays.
A spacious bedroom is featured with a clean white bedspread and two accent pillows in teal. Natural light is introduced through a circular window, and the room includes wooden doors leading to other areas. Subtle lighting enhances the room's simple elegance.

We loved our time at Sanath’s place! The accommodations and surrounding gardens are so beautiful and peaceful. We were greeted with cool drinks and warm smiles from Sanath, Saki, and Meraj, and they made sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing meals on the beautiful patio area. Saki prepared us wonderful food- some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed our safari with Sanath in the national park and learned much from him about the wildlife in the area. We highly recommend Sanath’s place for anyone traveling in the area.

It was a dream come true to stay in an actual treehouse! Living at eye level to beautiful birds and squirrels, nestled in this glorious tamarind tree was such a peaceful and enchanting experience, I would recommend to all nature lovers! Manuela and family were so welcoming and kind, and I loved the tour on the catamaran. They were so kind to cook the most delicious meals and I ate like a queen! It was so beautiful and relaxing in the tree house I did not want to leave! A massive thank you for making such a memorable stay for me, thank you so much ❤️

Roz’s place is complete paradise! The apartment is stylish clean private and spacious, everything you could need with its own terrace! But the grounds, garden, pool and the view of the rice paddies is breathtaking. It is nestled in the jungle, monkeys swing in the trees over the pool. But it is equally luxurious I even received a spa treatment in the private spa. Breakfast is available and I had local egg hoppers made to order, both are able to be added on. Roz has lived there for years so had all the best recs and arranged all of my local tuks and transport. I felt completely safe as a solo female traveler. It is so tranquil and peaceful but close enough to the beach and shops or Galle city!! I would 100% recommend and would have loved to stay a lot longer! Thank you again. 🫶🏻
